I didn't think it was possible for Allison's voice to get any better, but I'm hearing some delightful strength and control that wasn't there in years past. She literally sounds like one of the greats of the silver screen era, a vocalist whom studios back in the day would fight over. And loved the outtro. I thought this would be the scene with the tree where Josh dropped the hubcap full of lug nuts and yelled 'Fudge!' :)
I was thinking the exactly the same. I didn’t think her voice could get any better but it did. I think she singing more from her chest. She had a throaty wispy quality to voice before. She is nailing those notes! Beautiful!!
I noticed that also! She’s young still, so of course her voice will deepen and develop; as will her skill at controlling it. Allison has all the tools and major potential, all she needs is a lucky break!
Alison’s touring performances during the post pandemic period put the finishing touches on her beautiful distinctive voice. Clear the stage, Allison has arrived!
Now you just need to take a time machine back to 1951, leave this track sat by the gramophone, and you’ll come back to 2022 to find it’s a Christmas classic! Great work all 🎄
Agree. A lot of that has to do with Josh's innate sense of arrangement and accompaniment. Not to much, not too loud...But with all the crappy, overpriced and undertalented singers out there (there are a handful of good ones), they are usually all fad and no talent. Allison is all talent and no fad.
I don't know if Allison is consciously doing something different or if her voice has simply matured, but her singing on this piece is totally different. There's a wonderful quality in her voice that wasn't there before and has turned her into .... a SINGER! Whatever you're doing Allison, keep it up - you're singing to us. I haven't heard anyone around with a voice like that. Stay with it and stay YOU!
She's so natural on camera, elegant, classy, and talented. You are finding great musicians Josh. Building a community to last you a life time of music.
Yes, she's superb. I've waited decades to see someone like this capture the authenticity and style of the genre. There are so few that are young that can accomplish this.
I am so glad the Josh and Allison found each other. Both have grown with each other’s music. I knew from her earlier videos that Allison can play the guitar but this video shows that she plays the piano. She of course is and should be the lead singer. I am struck by Josh’s reticence, his musical taste, and his unselfishness, which is a mark of a great guitarist. And, yes, Allison’s voice is getting better with age and maturity.
- and she is even better than the original swing singers, being totally relaxed, her voice so smooth and just easy. No pushing or straining, as if singing is as simple as breathing out...
You know the thing that kills me is Allison’s pitch. Her voice doesn’t even waver with pitch issues. I can’t detect any pitch correction being used. So refreshing. So many singers these days totally squash there vocals with compression & auto tune. Allison is a true talent. Of course your guitar Josh is second to none.
I can't believe this is an original, I thought it was a cover. What a phenomenal Christmas song, seriously guys, If it doesn't make it this year then promote & release it next year cos it has the symptoms of a classic.
Blown away by the voice. This is from a different era. Today female singers sound like wounded animals, but Allison sounds dreamy, warm and strong. I hear Ella, Patsy, Rita Hayworth, the goddesses I missed because I wasn’t born yet. ❤
It's NOT from a different era. It's from now. The fact that it sounds like things sounded in the past doesn't make it "from a different era." It's current.
How is it possible for Allison's voice to get ever better? She's got a rich, resonant contralto in this song I've never heard in her before. And Josh is a master of any musical genre (as is Allison) with his creative, melodic soloing. Of course, he's a great singer as well. But among their talents, one is often overlooked during the glowing comments on their videos. Both of them are fabulous songwriters. This song and the songs on their EP is ample proof of that.
So I’m listening to this thinking “wow, what an amazing song! How come I haven’t heard that before?” and then it turns out that’s because it’s an original of Allison! Was gonna say that I love your version of the song, but now it needs to be said that not only the arrangement, performance, solos and screenplay are top notch, but the song itself is just super cool and classy!:) Thank you for sharing this!
This is absolutely delightful! I'm picturing Ms. Young in 1940s attire and singing to the troops in Europe during the war my dad was in. God bless her and the band for this!
Loved the song. Josh and Allison are magic together. Had me grinning when the camera guy (Josh’s wife?) lost it during the drum solo. The drummer is a character for sure. Instant Christmas classic.
Allison, i'm 68 years old , i'm from BRASIL, you're one of The best singers in the world! And you, Joshua , are a phenomenon !! If you ever come to BRAZIL , I'll be in the front row
I'm the ultimate "grinch" - hate Xmas and Xmas music SO much....but I loved this song, just went with the "every day" part and told myself it was only referring to Xmas fake "happiness" - and we should feel like that ALWAYS. Just stumbled on the "Bygones" a few hours, been watching their videos ever since. They are making timeless music - a classic act. Ms Young is the best vocalist I've heard in a long time, I could listen to her all night (probably will)......cheers!
I don't know how these two found one another but Josh scored big time partnering with Allison. She has a great voice and incomparable presence while performing. You guys are great together. Good luck with your tour.
That was just fabulous. I feel like I should be sitting in a tux at a small table in a ritzy 40's jazz club, while it snows outside, sipping a dirty martini with my beloved by my side, watching Allison sing, all dolled up in a evening dress on center stage, with Danny Kaye and Vera-Ellen spinning weightlessly across the dance floor... 🎄😊🎄
This is just wonderful! The arrangement is fantastic and Allison does an absolutely beautiful job on the vocal. I'm so glad she didn't over sing this. Her tone and control were perfect.
Allison, Josh, and their community of artists produce the consistently best and most uplifting content anywhere. Thank you so much for this beautiful piece!
Hi musicians, from The Netherlands we wish you nice days in this "dark" month december and in the end Happy Christmas days!! BY the way, BEAUTIFUL SONG! THANKS voor some Jazzy!! 🌨️🌨️🌤️❄️❄️❄️
Allison Young is the classic 1940's singer. So talented! Josh on guitar, amazing! Love the piano, guitar, bass and drum highlights. This was an excellent recording. Josh on drums, and Russell on Bass! Very well done.
Outstanding, such outstanding talent. Class total class, you kids give hope to the new generation. I can say that cuz I’m a 77 yr old geezer who’s covered a few miles. Happy Holidays ......... Kids 😃
Shout to Josh fabulous as always. Special shout out to the bass player, I could actually hear you and it was really nice. Now that drummer, he is so creative with the unconventional use of the cymbals! It was all so delightful!
Allison's voice hardens back to great band singers like Rosemary Clooney and Ella's Fitzgerald. She is a true talent and I look forward to hearing more from this group. A great sound!
The timbre of Allison's voice here really sounds like Ella Fitzgerald. And just adorable beyond belief. Now I feel guilty about not properly loving on the band. You all are just the best.
Oh wow, that's beautiful. Well written and performed but huge props to Kelly for her timing with the video, landing on people at exactly the right time, each time.
I found this channel thanks to a collab with Allison and Josh, and I have to say, I think my favorite thing about Josh is that he's so tremendously versatile musically, and he puts out so much content that is genuinely throwback or off current musical meta. It's an unfortunate fact of human nature that most people just kind of follow the herd, but with Josh, I have someone that reliably produces somewhat mainstream stuff, some oddball stuff that I like, and some oddball stuff I'm unfamiliar with, but almost always enjoy. He's such a great muscian that he's like a living conduit to challenging your tastes and taking you out of your comfort zone.
GREAT JOB EVERYONE. Seriously, all the guys were on it. Josh, gotta love the way you can fill up so much air with such tasteful playing. I honestly just do not understand how Allisons vocal treatments get better and better. Remarkable. Wouldn't think it possible to improve on what we have been hearing from her for the last several years. You guys just keep setting a new limit for yourselves and then leaping past it. Great song as well Allison. Can understand you both wanting to create new stuff, but please, please don't let that stop us from hearing you. Anything. Originals (old or new), covers, heck menus. Thank you for sharing guys. Y'all stay safe and well, and Have Yourselves a Merry Little Christmas. Happy Holidays!
Heard this last year, loved it. Now christmas again, time for me to go all around UA-cam to listen to my favourite holiday songs. This was my first stop. The drummer doesn't get enough credit, that was so sensitive and pure and just hearfelt. Plus, he looks like the nicest dude ever. Merry christmas to all of you :)
Josh + Allison = Christmas Fudge + Divinity all rolled up into one. I'm ashamed to say how many times I played this song straight through. It sounded like a classic, because... well, it is one now!
10 years from now, during the Christmas shopping season, the few shopping malls that remain will be blaring this song from all available speakers. Instant classic! 💯
I always look forward to Josh's Christmas release and anytime Allison is involved you know it's going to be awesome and today we get both rolled up into one!
For a group of young people, you all sound incredibly authentic for this style of music. If I had heard this in the 60s it would've sounded completely natural.
This girl is a throwback from the golden era of musicals with all the old greats that I grew up watching. Her voice and her face, timelessly beautiful. Thats it, my texted serenade to beauty.
You don't hear really accomplished, young vocalists so often now adays so hear! hear! for Allison -- and those instrumentalists (!) : First Rate! Well done, gentlemen!
THE BYGONES ARE GOING ON TOUR! TICKETS: thebygonesband.com/Shows
I didn't think it was possible for Allison's voice to get any better, but I'm hearing some delightful strength and control that wasn't there in years past. You're on the money. 100%
Alison’s touring performances during the post pandemic period put the finishing touches on her beautiful distinctive voice. Clear the stage, Allison has arrived!
Doris Day's got nothing on her.
Now you just need to take a time machine back to 1951, leave this track sat by the gramophone, and you’ll come back to 2022 to find it’s a Christmas classic! Great work all 🎄
You're all magical... but it's the lucky cat's arm swinging to the beat that really did it for me.
I haven't watched Josh's channel for a while and in the meantime he's gone back in time to about 1940 and recruited the best singer in America
Allison Young would have turned the world on it's head in the 40s. A great voice.
Old school, This young lady is the greatest voice I have heard in years. She's the next Superstar.
Allison Young is fantastic in everything she does, but there is some special magic when she collaborates with Josh Turner. I just love it.
Agree. A lot of that has to do with Josh's innate sense of arrangement and accompaniment. Not to much, not too loud...But with all the crappy, overpriced and undertalented singers out there (there are a handful of good ones), they are usually all fad and no talent. Allison is all talent and no fad.
Exactly.
Also, I am a fan of the air whoosh part of the drum solo!
So agree! Those two really have a chemistry that can't be matched.
Josh seems to bring out the best in everyone he works with
Who out of the 8 billion people in the world doesn't love Allison Young??
Why can't I like this video every time I watch it? (like 5 times a day!)
Finally a new and original Christmas Classic!
We only had to wait 70 years to get there...
This really sounds like something from the 1940s. Great composition Allison! Wow!
Her voice is DIVINE.
I don't know if Allison is consciously doing something different or if her voice has simply matured, but her singing on this piece is totally different. Holy shit. Y’all are making some of the most vital American music of our generation. Endless respect.
She's so natural on camera, elegant, classy, and talented. You are finding great musicians Josh. Building a community to last you a life time of music.
Yes, she's superb. I've waited decades to see someone like this capture the authenticity and style of the genre. There are so few that are young that can accomplish this.

I love Allison’s voice. It’s so warm and exciting. Josh is a maestro.
If you put Allison on stage singing in a black & white film starring Fred Astaire & Ginger Rogers I would never know that she was from 2022. Timeless.
- and she is even better than the original swing singers, being totally relaxed, her voice so smooth and just easy. No pushing or straining, as if singing is as simple as breathing out...
Allison has truly found her voice. Everything about this song is simply magical! This needs to become a Christmas classic.
Couldn't agree more!!
The quality of her voice is amazing
You know the thing that kills me is Allison’s pitch. Her voice doesn’t even waver with pitch issues. I can’t detect any pitch correction being used. So refreshing. So many singers these days totally squash there vocals with compression & auto tune. Allison is a true talent. Of course your guitar Josh is second to none.
I have noticed her pitch too, and lack of corrections.
Hey, there's no need to tear vocalists down to compliment another!
@@lydia129 Down? I though that was a compliment!
Yea OK OK, kiddin'... a little.
@@lydia129 no, but it’s fun, unlike you. Horrible thing isn’t it, free speech.
It's NOT from a different era. It's from now. The fact that it sounds like things sounded in the past doesn't make it "from a different era." It's current.

Absolutely - her voice and cadence has reached perfection for this genre of music.
she wrote this...
Best Xmas Ever !
This is the stuff of authentic star quality.
I would listen to her voice every day of the year.
So I’m listening to this thinking “wow, what an amazing song! How come I haven’t heard that before?” and then it turns out that’s because it’s an original of Allison! I could listen to her sing all day long!
Your music makes me nostalgic for a life I've never lived.
I've said it before and I'll say it again: the two of you performing music together is magical.
Loved the song. Josh and Allison are magic together. Had me grinning when the camera guy (Josh’s wife?) lost it during the drum solo. The drummer is a character for sure. Instant Christmas classic.
This is the best (or at least the most original) drums solo I've ever seen! (2:20) hahaha. Great job guys!
Bump
woo!
Very fun!
Air drums.
Allison, i'm 68 years old , i'm from BRASIL, you're one of The best singers in the world!
And you, Joshua , are a phenomenon !!
If you ever come to BRAZIL , I'll be in the front row
Great job everyone. Allison's voice is great as always. And the quietest drum solo ever?!
PLEASE Make a whole seasonal album with this group!
Reminds me of the old 1940's sound. Pretty awesome job thanks.
I just saw them (as The Bygones) last night in DC and they included this song. Great performance, great set.
I sense a Christmas classic in the making!
Allison and Josh are two of the most wonderful talents around today. Thank you for this!
I'm the ultimate "grinch" - hate Xmas and Xmas music SO much....but I loved this song, just went with the "every day" part and told myself it was only referring to Xmas fake "happiness" - and we should feel like that ALWAYS. That Oktava ML-219 microphone and Allison's voice is pure magic! Excellent well-written song.... I love it!
At least the Russians do some things right...
Allison your voice is heavenly ... pure
I don't know how these two found one another but Josh scored big time partnering with Allison. She has a great voice and incomparable presence while performing. You guys are great together. Good luck with your tour.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart. It is cold, damp and dark here in the UK but that song made things better for a few minutes.
This is just wonderful! The arrangement is fantastic and Allison does an absolutely beautiful job on the vocal. I'm so glad she didn't over sing this. Her tone and control were perfect.
Allison's voice is so nice could listen all day !!
Allison's voice in that register is like warm honey - nothing short of spectacular.
Visiting your country next spring. Where can I find live music like this?
Have a lot of fun Carsten! 🙃😃

The boy can play guitar. What a great vocal number. Allison’s voice is perfect for the style. Well played
Shout to Josh fabulous as always. Special shout out to the bass player, I could actually hear you and it was really nice. Now that drummer, he is so creative with the unconventional use of the cymbals! It was all so delightful!
Ditto on all these comments, Merry Christmas to all.
That's a tough song to sing but she nailed it. To be honest, Allison nails just about everything she sings. What an artist!
Allison's voice hardens back to great band singers like Rosemary Clooney and Ella's Fitzgerald. She is a true talent and I look forward to hearing more from this group. A great sound!
Allison is magic.
That voice is like breathing fresh air on a winter morning. Their is no One on the internet who can do that...just amazing.
The timbre of Allison's voice here really sounds like Ella Fitzgerald. And just adorable beyond belief. Now I feel guilty about not properly loving on the band. You all are just the best.
What this piece needs is some serious airtime. It has all the elements to become a “Christmas Classic!”
Oh wow, that's beautiful. Well written and performed but huge props to Kelly for her timing with the video, landing on people at exactly the right time, each time.
I had no idea it was an original when I listened to it...nice writing by Allison!

Well said @jeffdetmer4681! Yeah menus, phone books (remember those?), instruction manuals... 😉
Wow. Just Wow - what a voice. And any production involving Josh is never going to disappoint. As soon as Allison starts singing - all smiles from me.
It's Christmas everyday for them with that talent. Great job!
Very nice sound. Allison - the slightly lower vocal range suits you perfectly.
Heard this last year, loved it.
Now christmas again, time for me to go all around UA-cam to listen to my favourite holiday songs.

Reminds me of vintage, nostalgic, great golden oldie song Allison - Josh and you are GREAT together!
What a hearth warming voice.
See what you did there?
Super tasteful drum solo I love it
10 years from now, during the Christmas shopping season, the few shopping malls that remain will be blaring this song from all available speakers. Instant classic! 💯
josh... uff.... and Allison... i fall in love....
Not much love in the comments for the bass player, listen to it again folks and admire the skill level... Great job by all! Thank you Russell
Dude... that "drum solo"...
Yes. Very yes.
I love Allison so much. Thank you for the Christmas song.
I always look forward to Josh's Christmas release and anytime Allison is involved you know it's going to be awesome and today we get both rolled up into one!
For a group of young people, you all sound incredibly authentic for this style of music. If I had heard this in the 60s it would've sounded completely natural.
If you had heard this performance in the 60s, you would have written it off as an old song from the 30s or 40s. It has a real classic jazz feel to it.
That has to be one of THE most creative drum solos I've EVER seen!!!!!
Goodness me that voice. It wasn’t humanly possible for it to get any better and then… it got better.
I hope they are making lots of money on their channel. In times past Allison would be in musicals, TV variety shows and Christmas specials.
This girl is a throwback from the golden era of musicals with all the old greats that I grew up watching. Her voice and her face, timelessly beautiful. Thats it, my texted serenade to beauty.
Here singing is like gold in my ears. Amicing young people ❤
MAN!!! What a Merry Christmas party would be with this great group of wonderfully multitalented young people!!!🎵🎶😍❤🥂👍HO! HO! HO!🎄🎅
What a voice!
Really great to listen to, I also do music to but not with this much Subscribers ,if you have time check it out
Kelly's infectious giggle slays me. By the way. The music is excellent too.
How can someone look and sing like an angel? Obviously in the gifts line in Heaven, Ms. Allison snuck back in the line for seconds.
Thank you Allison, Josh, et al.
This is just beautiful.
You don't hear really accomplished, young vocalists so often now adays so hear! hear! for Allison -- and those instrumentalists (!) : First Rate! Well done, gentlemen!
You got Russell Hall! I've loved watching him with Emmett Cohen over the past 2 years. What an incredible combo here.
To be compared as a songwriter to Gershwin, Berlin, Porter or Arlen is high praise indeed. And her voice is richer and more mature every year.
Ok 3 times in a row and I still can't get enough of this tunes. Outstanding Job, makes me dream about the past would be.. 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Love this! - what a duo
Quartet, actually?🤣
Looks like a quartet to me
@@ianwilliams1789 I'm referring to the duo of Allison and Joshua who have worked together multiple times and form a great duo together.
No need to explain😁
...nada mas iniciar, esa voz, se robo mi corazon...
I don't know why, but it gives me a little joy to hear this near buzzing from the guitar amp
Magic. Just magic. Thank you for brightening our snowy day today.
This thing works as well when listened to in spring.
