@@P_Ezi the watch is alright, it's some good retro fun that gives you that Blade Runner feel. The problem is that it should cost at most like 110 dollars, but instead it retails for about 300 and above today, and it used to be much more as I recall which is just stupid.
Great video! I’m a big fan of the versatility of ani-digi watches. Of all the Casios listed here, I’m surprised the Casio Lineage LCW-M100TSE-1AJF isn’t on the list. Titanium, sapphire, Multiband 6, feather light, lighted dial, gorgeous sunburst dial… all for well under $200.
I bought a Casio Lineage M300 that looks like the Breitling Aerospace with dual digital display for $CDN 200 from Amazon. I live in Nova Scotia Canada which is just outside the official range of the Colorado atomic clock, but it manages to synchro a few times per month. Looks are beautiful with textured dial. Hands are perfect. Lume okay but the orange LED is very cool. Perfect size 38mm and weight for hot summer wear. I love my G-Shock 5610 but the Lineage is better because it has all the functions but could pass for a dress watch.
I have once considered this North Edge watch from Ali, but, if you look closely, as it has name model and level od water resistance printed in comic sans, I can not treat it seriously 😅
@@JustOneMoreWatchEvery time a new Argos catalogue was launched there’d be the excitement of going straight to the watches section to see what was new. That catalogue had everything to equip the 1980’s schoolboy: Casio watch, Casio FX82b scientific calculator, Sports holdall (Head or Puma)/vinyl attaché case with combination locks and either a Sony Sports Walkman or an Aiwa or Sanyo Personal Stereo.
I got Seiko Ani-Digi much like this one featured here 12:42 for my High School graduation in the 1990's I don't wear it often but it will never leave my collection And of course a Casioak. Great little watch for a great price
The Casio Lineage series should have been mentioned here. Jodi, you reviewed one some time ago, remember? I have one of its siblings, the M100. Perfect set-and-forget daily, solar powered + radio controlled = Forever watch for less $200.
Every watch with a thermometer is inaccurate when worn, due to body temp impact - you can't blame Citizen for that! That's why you have to strap your Protrek or Rangeman etc to your pack if you want an accurate reading while out hiking. Great video, I had no idea the North Edge Gavia existed.
I really want to have one, but I will need to catch one falling off a store shelf, because ... it's a ... it's a .... it's an Omega and costs as much as one too!
That Casio with the fish finder is super cool. Seeing that I live on a beach and fish regularly, it will be awesome to see how bad I am at catching them by simply looking at my watch. Thanks Jody!
I have the Nixon Ripley and was pleasantly surprised you put it on the list! It’s a very fun watch and the digital display’s layout reminds me of the Speedmaster X-33 of all things. Plus, it has three timers that don’t require a ton of button pushing to access and use. It’s a surprisingly good watch from a fashion watch brand!
Can you tell us, how long you have had it, and if it still runs? My failure rate of Citizen quartzies (and EcoDrive is of course a quartzie thingy!) has been more than 50% over the last 35 years (not knowing I had Miyota calibres in misc. branded watches, that failed as well), but ALL of my Seiko/TMI/Hattori calibers keep on ticking, spanning from 35 years to 8 months now. I am not spending one more penny on Citizen/Miyota, until I have confirmations of zero failure from a 100 people.
Some great picks Jody. The Nixon was a bit of a surprise. I've seen them posted in a few of my Facebook groups. Always been a bit curious about them as I do like the look. And who doesn't want a watch with "Seek and Enjoy" engraved on the back! 😁
Top 10 ... And by 2:08 you're mentioning #11 😂😂😂 ... Great video as always. You work hard, man. Churning out plenty of vids and never compromising on quality. Keep it up!
Absolutely loved my 20 year old breitling aerospace. Never wore it much because it was too nice. Didn’t use the digital functions because it would wear out the battery. Sold it 🙈. Needed the manual every time you changed the battery to get every function and the time reset. Now have 10 Casios instead including 4 GA2100’s. No worries about damage or scratches. I’ve switched the cases and bands between all of them and they look better and what comes out of the factory. Great review. 👍.
Great list! I own a late 80s Breitling Aerospace, and it's in like new condition! It's smaller and thinner than the newer ones. It's hands down my favorite watch... Light as a feather and plenty of functions! It's the E56059 (smaller display) with the original rolled titanium bracelet.
@@obsever97 Hahah, nice one! But if you care to know, it's a 89 model year. The early "Aerospace" dials. When these were first released in 85, they were branded Navitimer
Agreed. I love Ana-Digi watches. A 40mm Aerospace is much more wearable than the later larger models. I have a SS Chronospace from that era and it is the quartz watch that I wear the most.
I have the Certina and I love it. It is not too easy to set and the display mode does get changed often because of the placement of the button. But it's awesome. And it's also INCREDIBLY light. You barely notice it on the wrist. It's superb!
The Casio heavy nature of this list impressed me. They've been a mainstay in inexpensive, tough, ani-digi timepieces for a long time, and rightly so. I recently grabbed an 'I can't believe it's not a G-Shock' Casio AQ-S810W-1AVCF tough solar for $45 CAD for camping and kayaking and it has not disappointed! Now, about that lovely Certina... 😎
thank you for the content. My GA-B2100 is on the way to my wrist, I can't wait to wear it. Greetings from Ukraine! Thank you for the support of my country
Just do NOT get the white face! It is tough to read with its lime-green lumed hands on dingy white. They need to dump the st00pid lume and use straight black hands, which would be no biggy with the built in light! But actually worse, I do not like the tiny digital sub dial. I need to wear a jewellers head-band loupe to read that silly thing!
This channel turned me on to Casio and I picked up a metal Casioak and a GMWB5000MB. Thinking of picking up a MT-G which would be my most expensive one so far.
I’m a big fan of the 80s to late 90s Citizen Promaster range watches. I have an Aqualand, yachting, pilots, and even the windsurfing ones. Most Ana-digi. All made with specific purpose in mind.
I got one of the newer Skyhawk AT blue angel editions at a steal of a price out of the clearance section of a local jeweler. It’s one of my fave watches
@@andhenny I love those blue angel watches. Just looked up that model and it looks amazing. I love how the Promaster Ana-digis are such purpose built watches.
I love Ani-digis! My very first watch was one (Timex Expedition), now have a Casio Lineage and a G-Shock Casio-oak, best of both worlds! I just love telling time from an analog display to see the visual passing of time from one moment to the next. Digitial for alarms stop watches etc.
My pick is the Citizen Skyhawk AT in titanium. Lightweight, water resistant, fully loaded with functions, aviation calc bezel, and affordable. A great daily wearer.
I have to agree. I have a Blue Angels Skyhawk AT in Stainless, and had a special edition non-Blue Angels in titanium. The titanium was amazing to wear, but that model simply lacked the legibility that the Blue Angels one had, so I kept the Blue Angels version and sold the Titanium one.
Casio Lineage has to be on this on this list, for under 200, you get a titanium Sporty/dressy watch on an okay bracelet but its a strap monster if I say so myself, I got it on an aqua terra style rubber strap which looks like it was made for the casio, but have worn it on a leather strap (also suits it well) and nato strap which combined with the already thin profile of the watch, hardly adds any extra bulk. With a g shock, it's very much a two watch collection worthy watch.
Casio AQ800 was the first watch I bought with my first pay check 😄 It was so cool with both analog and digital at the time. Thank you for referencing it.
This is very weird since I sent a link to one of these Casio watches to a friend in Bishopbriggs earlier (Rangers fan) and then I spied this video amazing. Enjoyed it immensely bud 🤔🏴⌚
Jody you're one of my favorites on UA-cam and I love your videos, so I hate to say this, but save he Certina, I believe these watches are hideous because they're huge still have disproportionately very short hands. This is an inexplicable deformation design-wise on the part of these famous brands !
A fun and informative video. I appreciated learning about watches I hadn’t been aware of. As it happens, my everyday watch is an ana-digi, one I think deserved a mention, the Casio Wave Ceptor WVA-M640D-1ACR. At about $120, it's well within your price range, and offers not just analog and digital, but solar power and atomic-clock accuracy.
The JDM CASIO Wave Ceptor WVA-M650D-1A2JF hands down. The gold hands and applied indicies look stunning on this one. The bracelet is very comfortable, but only 2 micros. The only moans are the grey resin outer parts of the watch head and the somewhat unusually quiet beeps. Still love it to bits, I could only get it directly from Japan on eBay.
My favorite is the North Edge, feature packed and man sized. The little Citizen reminds me of a cross between the Casio Royale, and the retro red numeral digital Armitron. Just wear it and keep your arm. Thanks for another cool video Joey.
I bought the Casio GA 2100 in June (The Black and white version) and it is an amazing watch for the money. Casio still go strong (and will continue to) for decades. 😍😍
I saw this video and had a root around on Ali and ordered a Sanda 747, it rocks the 80's Casio ani/digi look and it was about 10 USD. I have a Sanda Tank purchased some time ago and is a lovely watch.
I adore my Citizen 20th Anniversary aqualand promaster, the JV-0020. Its very distinct asymmetric case, and huge 3 o clock digital display make it look like a wild prop from a 90's science fiction film. A real statement piece.
I love ani-digi watches so thanks for the video. One I think is worthy of a mention is the Garmin Crossover. As far as I am aware, the only smartwatch with analogue hands. The tactical solar version is on my wrist now. I don't use the smartwatch features, only for health tracking.
I could live in a world where all there was were ana digi watches. I crave analog and digital features. Gimme ana digi! Also, gimme a backlight for the digital display!
Hi Jody, the Casio lineage lcw-m300 is a cracking full metal, duel digital little watch, solar, multiband 6, and a wrist activated light as well 😀. Only downside is pressed clasp, mineral glass and 50m WR..but I think the same watch with sapphire glass and 100m WR is available, the lcw-m600.
Owned the T-Touch for a short while. In the course of 2 weeks, it lost 15 seconds. Abysmal for a 1000€ watch, I expected a precise movement. It is very light, has a cool design and the touch control on the crystal is interesting. Case finishing on the sides was very rough and uneven, a Casio Oceanus makes it look like a toy. Add to that the countless reviews about this watch having to be serviced regularly and lcd’s failing on multiple examples. I decided that this was not the high quality product I expected and sold it on. Swiss watches are overrated.
Great Video, Jody! I’m a big fan of ani-digi and have several of them on your list, including the Breitling. Money no object, it’s a tie for me between Breitling and Omega Speedmaster Skywalker X-33. I rotate them constantly. Not under $500, but Mudmaster is awesome as well!
Great list. I would have loved to see the Citizen Promaster SST series in there too. They are fantastic racing ana-digi watches with a car dashboard like three-dial layout.
Up until this year, I'd largely given up on ana-digis, my last example ( A middling Casio AQ-1000 if memory serves) having been bought some 30 years ago. Then, by chance, I found Casio's EFA120D-1AV (catchy name, yes?), and I'm actually quite taken with it: tonneau-style case, mineral crystal, stainless-steel case & bracelet, and crisp analog hands against a deliberately understated digital dial, which some might gripe about, but I like - I can read the digital info well enough when I need it, but it doesn't get in the way of basic time-telling the rest of the time. And the list of digital features is about as long as your garden-variety G-SHock, including temperature sensor. (Note: nearly *all* watches with a temperature sensor are generally useless reading ambient temps while on the wrist - you need to take them off and wait a bit to get a proper reading, so that Tissot T-Touch is hardly alone on this issue.)
I have 2 ana-digi watches but none of the ones on this list. The Accurist Skymaster I bought a long time ago and has 5 separate windows for the digital displays. I love the look of it still but it is a little on the large side for me. The other is a Sekonda I bought earlier this year after stopping to browse a local jewellers window after a few beers with a mate. Surprisingly nice strap for a cheapo watch and I really like the double digital display and skeletonised hands.
I was looking forward to this video, and have a recent fascination with this type. Was really hoping that the Hamilton Khaki Flight Timer Air Zermatt (H645540) might turn up... I haven't seen it in person, but it's calling to me and I would have loved to hear your thoughts. Appreciate the topic and insight nevertheless!
My favourite of them all has to be the Citizen Aqualand JP2000-8E - I bought mine in the BX in MOB Price, Helmand Afghanistan in 2010 when I was stationed there with the Danish Battle Group. It is one of the watches that I will NEVER part with and over the years I have added an original Citizen stainless steel (rattly) bracelet, just to get rid of the incredibly stiff, horrible and uncomfortable rubber strap it came on. I do also have an Erika's Original Marine Nationale for it that is very comfortable, but there is just something about this big fat chunk of steel around my wrist ! 😀 I do actually also own the Breitling Aerospace EVO with the black dial, and I love it !! It's big in size, but sits perfectly on my 8inch. wrist 🙂
Really shocked the Casio Lineage lcw-m100tse-1ajf is not on this list. You used it as the thumbnail of a review but then reviewed a different model and I’ve been waiting for a real review of it ever since. Ben’s review sold me on it and honestly between that and a solar square G I’ve had a very hard time justifying any other watches since I got it.
My #1 favorite ana-digi is the Casio Edifice EFA-120, with the entire face behind the hands being a full featured Casio digital LCD. And it has an electroluminescent backlight! It was about $60 when I got it, although it may have just fallen out of stock. Only downside for me is the 17mm strap.
Hi Jody, the German brand Braun has one. Adidas has one which mixes a casioak with a bell&ross. On another level of price, Rado has a very interesting one in Ceramic: all the functions of a Dw5600 in a dressy style watch, and you can hide the digital display if you want!
I prefer the Casio GA800. Three hand analog, positive LCD, and all of the g-shock features. My daily driver is the Citizen JDM Promaster Sky. Solar, atomic, titanium, sapphire, 200 m WR, and all of the features that aren't additional sensors. They usually run just under $500 US on eBay.
Still a fan of the Breitling Emergency... I have a E76321 and to this day I have to explain the conspiracy theorist types that the Beacon only works if you deploy it.. it doesn't track you constantly.
The G-shock GA-700 line is underrated in my opinion. It is like a mudmaster (which I also love) for like 1/4 the price, or 1/8th the price depending on the mudmaster version. You don't get the compass features and barometer etc. but you get a lot of functions and a really good world time function. The blue version I have is the most legible digital/analog watch I have and despite making the Arnie look subtle it is super light to wear. They go on sale under $100 if you watch for it. Cool fun watch if you like BIG G shocks.
I have a North edge Snow Leopard, and I am surprised at the accuracy of the Barometer and Compass not too bad to set up and wears better than the size would seem.
I didn’t think I’d be as interested in that Certina as I thought I would. It’s so achingly piloty and I love it
It’s for a real vibe

The Momentum UDT, the redesign of the Chronosports UDT from the '80s, needs to be mentioned. 😊
This is definitely in my top ten 'top ten' lists.
I could live in a world where all there was were ana digi watches. I crave analog and digital features. Gimme ana digi! Also, gimme a backlight for the digital display!
Certina DS Multi 8 is a great quartz GADA. Absolutely love mine!
OMG, this video read my mind. I’ve been trying to decide between which ani digi I’d like the most
Thanks for including the fantastic - and fantastically horrible - classic Citizens!
Love my Arnie. Completely agree with you on the Breitling Aerospace.
Seeing the Aqualand brings back good memories. Thank you.
Probably sounds different for native English speakers, but ana-digi has a strong proctological vibe to it. 😂
You missed the AWM500 G-Shock. Multiband 6, solar, metal case and first-rate bracelet. World time plus usual digital features.
Will be waiting for the North Edge review :D
Another heroic try, Jody. Thou almost persuadest me...but I will stand strong and remain firm until the Erebus chrono launches next year!
I do actually also own the Breitling Aerospace EVO with the black dial, and I love it !!
The Timex Indiglo is just epic....it is wild it is proprietary to Timex..........
Brilliant Got some ideas now well within my budget. Thanks Jody👍👍
The Citizen JG2103 was definitely the funnest pick of them all! 😂
Nice video ❤
I have the Arnie in black and in Pepsi. I also have the casioak. The Arnies get a lot more wrist time.
I prefer the aq230 over the 800. Much cleaner look and the bracelet is nicer. 😁
But I'm glad you've included those as well.
These are fun, really like the Tissot.
I have a North edge Snow Leopard, and I am surprised at the accuracy of the Barometer and Compass not too bad to set up and wears better than the size would seem.
