Seriously, how good is Kiko? He brings his own brand of technical ability and style that definitely fits in well with Megadeth's sound. Then there's Dave, still writing and performing those hard and fast rhythm parts and face melting solos. They are a band that keep getting better with age. Long live the Deth \m/
Kiko is the best lead guitarist Megadeth has had since Marty left. Not only does he own god-like technical abilities, but also a great sense of melody.
@@lidokork technically I think it's very close between them, maybe Chris wins it by a shade. BUT, I think Kiko's playing is far more musical. He has a more melodic approach and superior phrasing. Broderick just sounded like he was ripping through scale exercises every solo - which I found pretty robotic and boring to listen to. So IMO Kiko is already a far better guitarist than Chris, and much better fit for Megadeth.
01:35 In this riff we can see Kiko's fingers moving as less as possible while Mustaine move a lot his fingers, that's interesting see the way each one play.
I think it's because Mustaine is really into it, just anecdotal but I find myself exaggerating my movements if I'm really digging the song I'm playing.
+MHMendes That's because Kiko plays more correctly with his thumb under the fretboard in a steady position while Dave has his thumb in the upper position and moves it with every note he changes, which is partly false, but it doesnt really affect the sound, it's more of a matter of stamina and correct stage positioning, especially as far as classical guitar is concerned, and it comes down to the fact that Kiko is a classicaly trained guitarist while Dave is self taught.
+MHMendes Definitely an interesting point. As a guitar player, I've noticed it's easier to play faster and especially when changing strings when you keep to shorter motions in between notes, it works wonders when doing a fast alternate picking run, basically the closer your fingers stay to the fretboard even when not on a string, the faster you'l be able to move onto the next note, depending on how sync'd both hands are of course. Logical I guess, but it's also fun to play rhythms with a slamming motion when that sort of technique isn't needed :) As Jim Smith put it so perfectly: "Better economy of motion"

Just noticed something. From 1:35 to 1:50, while Dave and Kiko are playing the same riff, Dave's moves are wide and seem struggled while Kiko's moves are short, fluid and seem almost effortless. That's why those annoying technique lessons are so important.
+Felipe Gomes you have to remember that dave once wasn't able to move his left hand properly, he suffered some illness, can't remember what he did exactly tho
He does a spider web effect move, less transition on his fingers. Notice the pinkie finger extend to the next fret without moving the rest of the fingers or sliding up.
It's because he has a technique of being very relaxed while playing. It's not that it's too easy for him, it's just the way he plays. Check out his channel for details on it, he made a video about it.

Most overrated band ever! I really don’t get the fascination with this band. They sound generic, nothing special. Solos are boring. He’s not doing anything that other unknown bands are doing.
Toady Montana It's easy to think that almost 60 years of musical evolution later, but the fact is that the Beatles took music to heights never seen before. If you look at the state of music before they showed up compared to the state of music after they broke up, it's clear that they had and still have the greatest impact on popular music as we know it today. Remember, no Beatles = no British Invasion = no Sabbath = no metal. Also, Phlacc's full of shit, Megadeth rules \m/
3:15 What a killer riff. Thrashy and groovy as hell. Love to see Kiko fitting right in; what a great player. Great to see Dave and Co still pumping out music.
Kiko was a force. It's a shame to see him leave the band. He had amazing attitude, promoted the band whenever he had the chance, and had the talent to go anywhere and beyond.
Kiko is not even faced hahaha... not even struggling with this. I've listened to Angra for a while and their stuff can be quite complex at times so I'm sure he can definitely handle himself in the new band. Megadeth is an amazing band and hopefully he will be able to bring more to the mix cuz those who have followed his trayectory know he has waaaaay more to offer
That intro is wicked and haunting! Kiko fits right in with the whole Megadeth theme too but adds a different flavor in his playing style that Megadeth didn’t have before. Great see bands like this evolve (in a better way)
Dave is a machine. Megadeth's last 5 albums have been top notch quality (but still not in the level of Rust in Peace IMO), well produced, well executed, intricate and interesting. Megadeth is going through a good phase and they still have plenty to do, unlike other bands which just play their hits from the 80s (**cough** metallica **cough**).
That's pretty much due to his accident a little over a decade ago. Screwed up his nerve in one of his arms after falling asleep on a chair wrong, and had to go to therapy and relearn how to play. If this is how he plays now because of that, imagine if his accident never happened?
God bless dave mustaine. Been a fan for decades, he's showing no signs of slowing up, giving up or softening up and not even cancer can mess with that. Legend
Distopia streaming on Amazon Prime got me started on Megadeth - and this is one of the best tunes. It's even more fun to watch than listen to - mostly since I didn't know who was playing which solos.
Oh yeah...finally a Megadeth play through. Now Dave go and do a play through of ALL your Back catalog with tabs starting from "Killing is my business". I will be buying this like crazy....and I sure there are more who agree!
The beginning has a real old school death metal feel to it before evolving into a more recognizable style of technical thrash we know so well from megadeth. I actually did like the new album upon first listen though I've currently only listened to it 2 times. But so far.... so good....so what. 🤘 🤘🤘
I've always been so impressed with Dave Mustaine. I mean there's NO ONE IN THE WORLD that can play the things he plays AND sing at the same time!! He's on a whole different world of his own there. The main riff ain't that super hard, but singing to it at the same time surely puts on a challenge. I remeber waaay back as a kid when I watched the "Rude Awakening live DVD" when he was doing SOLOS at the same time he was singing... amazed ever since!
I love how Dave is sharing this wealth of knowledge with future generations. Damn i wish this would have been possible years ago when i was beginning to play the guitar. all i had were DVDs and a TV to step the frames along.
That bass playing is cool , I must admit I've got 'Rust In Peace' & 'Peace Sells But Who's Buying' , I left it there , I'll have to start listening to all the new stuff. Very cool
Yesss. You rock Dave! Thanks for making solos not overly hard. Just tough enough to make anyone who learns it feel like a badass! Love the passion that is still there after so long. This has some technical finger work in it.
I honestly thought fatal illusion was about singing in different keys not knowing which one was gonna kill you. And those changes, man I respect Dave, he is totally a thrash jazz master. Kiko, I can tell he's very knowledgeable in the musical field, it's amazing how he adapts to both worlds in Dave's crazy mastery ha.
@@Maggiethegsd Agreed. Whoever says Dave's got more emotion is not a guitar player and is not familiar with the minor effort concept of playing. It's not a coincidence that Kiko was chosen to be the lead guitarist for Megadeth, he is one of the best and most experienced guitar player alive and he does whatever he does with mastery and impeccable technique.
+GoDDamnHosTile Because they use the same thing. Black friday just does the whole pull off thing more than this song. It's literally the same notes. very fun to play though

just get a custom bud
Most overrated band ever! I really don’t get the fascination with this band. They sound generic, nothing special. Solos are boring. He’s not doing anything that other unknown bands are doing.
Toady Montana obladi oblads life gooooooooessssdss oooon. Oooh life goesssss on
Toady Montana nah I’d say gnr
4:03-09 Love those licks/runs🔥
Kiko was a force. It's a shame to see him leave the band. He had amazing attitude, promoted the band whenever he had the chance, and had the talent to go anywhere and beyond.
3:37 kiko just having an existential crisis in the middle of the song
E a diferença entre Rust in Peace, Peace Sells..., Countdown, Killing... e Angra é gritante.
look at Dave's arms!
not gym, just riffin' n soloin'
And martial arts. He has been training for years, you know.
He is a karate guy .
He is a black belt karate and taekwondo martial artist. He practices brazilian jiu-jitsu too.
@@LeandroRamos42 to kill lars someday.. Just in case 😂😂
And tendonitis
Kiko is not even faced hahaha... not even struggling with this.
I've listened to Angra for a while and their stuff can be quite complex at times so I'm sure he can definitely handle himself in the new band.
Megadeth is an amazing band and hopefully he will be able to bring more to the mix cuz those who have followed his trayectory know he has waaaaay more to offer
That intro is wicked and haunting! Kiko fits right in with the whole Megadeth theme too but adds a different flavor in his playing style that Megadeth didn’t have before. Great see bands like this evolve (in a better way)
mustaine is not the same as peace sels-rust in peace era but somehow he is still kicking ass
Nah, Endgame was great. Don't be stupid.
Endgame is considered a modern classic, and rightfully so. Phenomenal playing on that album.
Dave is fucking awesome. I don't really get what you mean, the music has been excellent
Kiko has incredible technique. Makes it look so effortless.
Aquele orgulho de sempre, por ter um brasileiro no Megadeth!!!Um mestre made in Brazil \m/
God bless dave mustaine. Been a fan for decades, he's showing no signs of slowing up, giving up or softening up and not even cancer can mess with that. Legend
Everything Kiko touches leaves me mesmerized...
Very cool
it's amazing how kiko is relaxed
2:36 thrash metal defined with that riff
that first riff of the song is seriously so heavy and unique, I love it so much
I know dave isn't in his prime anymore but his ability to play the riffs that he does while singing will never not totally blow my mind.
i dont want to scary anyone... but Dave looks like my mom...
budaroddy you better be scary
😂😂
Is that a bigger insult to your Mom or to Dave.
Lucky guy
And my aunt is too
Dave with Kiko is a great combo.
The geat fact: Kiko Loureiro is the best guitarrist that played in Megadeth since Marty Friedman !
Yesss. You rock Dave! Thanks for making solos not overly hard. Just tough enough to make anyone who learns it feel like a badass! Love the passion that is still there after so long. This has some technical finger work in it.
It's always great to hear Megadeth riffs that call back to the Killing is My Business album.
Heard the song live, was awesome!!!
kiko BR 🎶✌
slc, o Kiko tem down ( to zoando)
Master KKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK mds
The size of dave's palm in comparison to the fretboard always gets me
I honestly thought fatal illusion was about singing in different keys not knowing which one was gonna kill you. And those changes, man I respect Dave, he is totally a thrash jazz master. Kiko, I can tell he's very knowledgeable in the musical field, it's amazing how he adapts to both worlds in Dave's crazy mastery ha.
Its interesting watching them play the same riffs. Dave has much more movement in his fingers. Kiko seems to be more efficient in his playing.
Yeah I noticed that right away, I wonder if it's because Dave is self taught and he never learned the most efficient techniques to playing the guitar?
1:35 Dave's left hand has os much more movement than Kiko's, yet they're doing the same thing.
Shows that Dave plays each note making sure not to hit a different string then what is to be touched in my feeling
kiko says that he touches each string with the least amount of force needed for it to sound, which helps him to get less tired while playing
@Cohen Gillis oh my god really emotion in how a person plays?
@@Maggiethegsd Agreed. Whoever says Dave's got more emotion is not a guitar player and is not familiar with the minor effort concept of playing. It's not a coincidence that Kiko was chosen to be the lead guitarist for Megadeth, he is one of the best and most experienced guitar player alive and he does whatever he does with mastery and impeccable technique.
@@herr.schaeffer 😂 Dave playing has way more emotion, and rhythmically way better.
Well. In another interview Dave says that he is kinda intimidated by kiko's level of performance 😯😎
YES!!! My FAVORITE album!!! Sooo talented is Megadeth!!! 🎸🎸🎸
Amazing Guitarists! Dave Mustane is amazing playing that guitar.
brazilian talent, my friend kiko loureiro.
Cool. I hear some elements of my favorite album Peace Sells.
+Diggerdog2nd
Me too. For instance that riff at 2:36 really reminds me of black friday
+Diggerdog2nd do you even rust bro?
+GoDDamnHosTile Because they use the same thing. Black friday just does the whole pull off thing more than this song. It's literally the same notes. very fun to play though
3:49 my face when people compare Metallica to Megadeth
I appreciate you thanking me for checking this out, anytime deth anytime.
Can you imagine playing with Brazil's best guitarrist and you do the solos and lead fills, Dave did
That whole riff from 1:04 to when the vocals start reminds me so much of symphony x!
Kiko power metal background with Angra...
You should listen Angra to see his previous work, i recomend the album Rebirth.
"Hi I'm Dave Mustaine and this is another good musician who has joined the band but will be fired sooner or later because I fire everyone eventually ..."
edit: I made this comment 3 years ago and didn't expect many people to take "Dave fires everyone" so literally LOL
So you probably don't know Kiko, here in Brazil he is known as a The Guy That Fires Everyone.
Vitório Souto he has met his match then :D
Oak Adthapol N. Yep.
he didn't fire Broderick.....
+Vitório Souto I didn't know Kiko's like that too.Haha
Can we all take a moment to appreciate just how fucking sexy Kiko's axe is? That red is absolutely beautiful.
I’m a huge Megadeth fan, and I aspire to one day gain the same technical ability that Mr.Mustaine has right now through practice, though that will be a long time coming. Thank you so much for inspiring me to continue to play even though I initially wanted to give up. Megadeth has truly changed my life for the better :)
Dave I've listened to all the music you guys poured your hearts into I just want to say I am proud of all you guys do rip Nick
the start is so diabolical. sounds like something you get combining Doom and Diablo
Dave's hair is so fabulous
To Kiko it's so easy...
Believe it or not, this was the first time i was genuinely excited to hear new music from Megadeth since the last century (since that much maligned Risk album). It's been a long wait haha!
Will Dave ever run out of riffs and solos - This is awesome - really on top of his game. And as always he throws in a sarcastic funny remark at the end of explaining the track. "Practice hard. I don't" Lol. Superb!👍🤘
