  • During his Sports Broadcasting Hall of Fame acceptance speech, legendary baseball announcer Tim McCarver welcomed up to the stage the grandson of Howard Cosell, Colin Cosell.
Fittingly, McCarver got his first big national break behind the mic when he was called in to the 1985 World Series as a last-minute replacement after Howard Cosell was dropped from the lineup following controversy surrounding a book he had written. His spot in the broadcast booth at the Fall Classic was one that he wouldn’t relinquish until his retirement from national broadcasting in 2014.

Yes it was not perfect by any means but still good. I would say better than the actors in some movies I have seen

Well we can't choose our parents or our ancestors, so this is not on you Colin. However, this hero worship of this individual is totally misplaced. Never was a human being less worthy of either respect or emulation, as the obnoxious big mouth himself might have said.

      It was his granddad.
I'm sure he doesn't give two shits about you, your opinion, or your toxic bullshit about a deceased family member.

If it wasn't for Howard Cosell there would be no Real Sports w/ Bryant Gumbel or any other "sports journalists" that aren't afraid "to tell it like it is", which is so commonplace now they all sound the same. Cosell was doing this beginning in the early 60's when most commentators and journalists had their heads so far up the athletes ass that it made u wonder if they had one critical bone in their body. Cosell did it when it was not okay to do that. He was the trail blazer of "sports journalism. Guys like Costas, and Gumbel, and Stephen A owe him a tremendous amount of gratitude. And Cosell made us all look at sports at a different angle then we were never did before. He made it cerebral. For that alone he deserves our respect, not ridicule.
