Just bought a 2015 NC700x 2 days ago. with nearly 200 miles since then, I can say this is a fantastic bike. Will handle trails but does not like potholes and washed out sections. Loves the highway and twisty two lanes. Around town it pulls out strong and is a great commuter. Chose this over the CB500x and I don't regret it!
Nice review. In UK, both versions come with ABS as standard. Honda USA is taking the piss not giving this as standard on all models. Also we seem to have got the 750 at least a year before the US.
The seat is "great?" I'm going to guess you didn't ride that thing more than 50 miles, because nearly every NC700 forum I've read is full of owners who hate the seat (me included). Long trips on the NC700 ended up being excruciating because of the OEM seat. It was fine on short trips though. Many have replaced the OEM seat with a wide variety of aftermarket ones. I replaced mine with a Seat Concepts seat and all's well now. Also, as far as mounting and dismounting - always do both from the left, and it's much easier to clear the luggage if you stand on the peg while doing so.
I find it's a great fuel saver bike, even better than my previous Yamaha R3 with 320cc only, whilst this bike is more than double displacement ! Really Love it.
i bought mine in 2014 so it not the new one. But the 700 is still a awesome bike nothing wrong with your bike. there is a video on youtube with a 700 X in japan with 200k km on the clock that equals 125k miles!! only major part that neede to be replaced was the water pump
+Omgwtflmaololrotfl Thats really impressive. They say the engine shares a lot of car technology so that must lean credence to its reliability. I don't think I'd have the urge to upgrade to the 750 even if it does release here. I'm super happy with my bike. In fact, I think it'll end up being a keeper for me. I have a rear top case on mine for storage, but nothing beats having the frunk (front trunk) for storing your helmet so the rest of your storage is free.
I hab the manual transmission version. Averaged 50 mpg. Which is great. But after 100 miles I was searching for a gas stop. I don't see going 200 on a 2.7 gallon tank. That was one of the downfalls of it.
I mean honestly, dual sport or not, any riders with little skill can ride off-road if we want to, as long as it's not on the crazy condition like a dirt bike would, it seems to be like NC700X is a good compromise between power, style, and prices among all the over-powered dual bike like the GS1250 or KTM1290 out there, good enough for the bucks and for long distance travel if you want
No offense, but at 6:10 what the hell kinda way is that to get on a motorcycle? You're pulling the bike away from the kickstand, so your chances of going over with the thing are pretty high if you lose your balance. You always want to pull toward the kickstand, so the bike will be stable when you get on.
Push Back I don't agree. I been getting on and off my entire life from the right side of the bike. I find it easier to swing the leg high and lower the body towards the low side of the bike. In effect pushing against the kick stand as you slide your ass down. Thought the review was good. Bit too generous with the praise of such a basic shit bike though.
+John Burley There are toggles for shifting up and down with your hand, but the foot shifter is gone. Other Honda bikes offer ABS without the DCT, but I think the NC700X only offers ABS with the DCT.

N'th DEGREE AERIAL PERSPECTIVES It’s actually very easy to manage when you’re riding. At super low speeds, the weight comes into play a bit, but it’s still not bad compared to an adventure bike.
The forward storage is so big that there is no reason to buy or worse install that butt ugly top heavy handling spoiler tail box. The company puts everything low for a reason. Why cancel the benefit? See how clumsy the tester looks getting on and off the saddle? It is not because of the saddle bags..it is because of that phuqueing tail box!!
They are completely different bikes. And get this, I just bought a brand new 2015 leftover nc700x yesterday for $4300. With a warranty and 4.5% from Honda financial. They're tons of 2015 leftovers. Go on cycle trader. Do your homework. I love this bike, so far, I'm getting 60 mpg. I'm sure after breaking it in that will go up. I'm 6ft 195 lbs and this bike fits me perfect. I hope this helps.

I'm looking for something in the $4000 Range and saw a few 2015's new and I'm interested in them because they are new. I want something I can just commute on comfortably and possibly do road trips on. Would you reccomend it still? I know they arent very fast I'll be used to that the XR650L I ride now isnt exactly a speed demon!
@ flygear. I now have 4500v miles on my bike. I love it I did a few mods. Exhaust, air hawk seat, hand guards. And I needed a tire so I went dark side. I totally live this bike. 70 mpg all day long.
At 9k this Honda underwhelmed me... You could spend another $1000-1500 and get a Tiger 800xc triple which produces far better hp, torque and it's built w/ far superior materials all the way around. The Triumph may lack a "trunk" but it beat Honda it in every other metric. I test drove a 14' Honda w/ 18k mi's and the cheapness really showed. The plastics get little knicks/scratches and they'll sun fade quickly if it's left outdoors for any period of time.
Not yet :) I looked at em after testing this Honda new & a 12' Vstrom 650, but the dealer gave me such a great deal on a clean 06' Tiger 955i that I bought used. They build an awesome machine! The overall quality is much better, the triple gives much higher rpm limit & still gets close to 50mpg all day long. It's a bit tall/heavy for me so I plan to run it a couple years then upgrade to the newer 800xc once I get the $$.
MSRP is $8099 for the 2016 with DCT and ABS, $7499 for manual transmission and no ABS. The Honda luggage will easily push it up over $9k, but there are less expensive aftermarket options for that.. And as with anything, you can save money by buying used or even a new one left over from a previous model year. My 2014 was one year old when I bought it for $5k and it's in perfect condition. But I agree there are better adventure bikes out there even though there are people using this bike as such. It makes a great commuter and all around fun bike for those who are more interested in fuel economy, reliability and practicality. Many use it for long distance road touring as well and it does quite well at that due to its excellent fuel economy and ability to cruise all day long at 80 mph with a fully loaded set of luggage. Some even tour two up with it but it's really not good at that due to the 48 hp engine. This is far from a muscle bike or a hard core adventure bike, but 45 years after buying my first motorcycle I'm not looking for either of those anymore.

take it offroad before judging. there are plenty videos of the NC offroading and its a very capable bike with a few mods.

i worked in the service shop of a triumph/kawasaki dealer. please take my advice and don't buy a triumph
