Wow. Way better than a regular stick shift transmission. No human error involved.
It is recommended to install this if ur going trackdays or time attacks with that kind of hp
Evo's are one the few 4 cylinder cars I actually enjoy hearing. Now feed that thing a few gtr's and call it a day gentlemen. lol

Going from an sti to an evo i have to say the sound of the evo is much more enjoyable. Its no CA18 sound but definitely one of the better sounding 4's.

@DBeav97 I think you're confused about what a sequential is. Notice that the shifts only required a pull...not a shift pattern.

Now more time and momentum loss with shifting! That thing should shed some a few tenths. It would be really cool to see some before races that maybe the evo had lost or was close, and re race now with new trani, and see how much the results change.

One of the biggest benefits of a sequential box is not having to clutch shifts.
So, no.
Plus with modern synchro mesh transmissions you don't have to double clutch. Unless you want to get beat because you shift really fucking slow.

all u have to do is take your foot off the gas to shift... i've seen this watching racing many times. some race cars have it to where u can stay full throttle and shift but some dont

This is probably a dumb question but how do you engage reverse? Do you just downshift until you engage reverse?
Can this gear kit make 200mph?It pulled to 160mph so fast like the other big cars.
Yes, 4th gear takes it to 163mph and 5th gear will go to 200mph.

How often do you need to have the gearbox rebuilt/serviced?
So if he does a 5th gear pull to 190mph can he put it in neutral or does he ride the engine all the way back down?
He can at least push the clutch in if he doesn't have neutral.
DoggieoProductions The gear box goes R N 1 2 3 4 5. He has to ride the clutch and brakes till he is at first gear speed. On a motorcycle the gears go 1 N 2 3 4 5 shifting up or 1 N 2 3 4 5 shifting down starting at first gear. It is difficult on a motorcycle to get the transmission into neutral unless you are at a really low speed or stopped. This is why H-pattern gear boxes are in street vehicles, because you can double clutch or select neutral whenever you want.

Yes, to get in 1st gear, and reverse. Not sure about going to neutral. You can flat foot shift sequential gear boxes no problem.

2 questions, (if I sound like a dumb ohh well)
1. I did not see him engaging the clutch
2. What is the difference between this and a standard gear box.

you just have to lift off of the throttle to unload the box before shifting and mashing another gear. i'm pretty sure that you would have to use the clutch and rev match in order to downshift without locking the wheels up, but there might be some cool stuff going on internally to prevent this, not sure.
there are no synchros and no small fragile dog teeth involved in gear engagement. those components are built into normal easy to drive smooth shifting street transmissions.
the box uses very very strong components and large dogs to engage the gears. 40 seconds in you see the 6 large rectangle chunks of metal on the sides of the gears, those are dogs. a street tranny will have like 40 small angled dogs for engaging gears, weak but smoother to engage.
there is no "H" pattern involved in shifting, mechanically it's just up and down to grab a gear.

Pull small handle on gearlever.
Pull into reverse.
When done, just push into 1st. Gear again.

Someone should really make a double clutch gearbox for a evo 9, basically would be able to beat a R35.

I didn't really think the shifts were any faster than power shifting. It just looked like he was power shifting. He used the clutch...didn't see any sequential shifting in this video lol.

As noted by others, there's no way he was pushing the clutch in far enough to disengage it.
He was either pushing it out if habit, or the acceleration drop between shifts made his foot go forward to brace himself out if instinct.
