In Islam, marriage is sacred and a lifelong commitment. We are searching for the person who will complete half of our deen (religion) - that is saying something! Though we may be distracted by our emotions and hormones, or by societal pressure and social media, we need to remind ourselves to follow the advice Islam has laid out for us when it comes to the qualities to look for in a potential Muslim spouse.
We should not be influenced by what society or culture may see as good qualities, rather look at those qualities that can help bring us closer to our creator. The ultimate goal of an Islamic marriage is to strive together in gaining nearness to Allah (swt). We have been created in pairs for a reason.
