  • These resin "Cheers" coasters were so much fun to make, and I used some 4" glazed bathroom tiles, resin, alcohol inks. I used my Silhouette Cameo 4 to make the lettering from adhesive vinyl. If you don't own a Silhouette Cameo yet, you really need to get one, It seems like you can do anything with this machine.

      Are the tiles glossy that you use?

      @Salmonde_At_Home  3 роки тому

      Yes, they are the standard, glossy, cheap tiles you can pick up at any home improvement store. Very easy to find.

    Beautiful coasters!. Great tutorial on how to use ArtResin I recently just tried ArtResin for the 1st time but unfortunately my coasters resin didn't come out as smooth as yours. I'll keep trying. Thanks for sharing your video

    Do you have to coat it first if you are going to use resin? Maybe the sticker won't stick to the tile? Love your video, very helpful.

    Im so glad to find this video, thank you. Im just beginning to explore and learn any kind of crafts, and these look great. And I was just wondering about using the doming resin on a what you want to remain a flat surface, does that make a difference?

    Ready enjoyed your video. What is the tool you are using to spread the epoxy and what is your secret for eliminating air bubbles ?

  • @gingerkelly3615
    @gingerkelly3615 3 роки тому

    Thanks for the video. Your work is amazing. I was wondering if you could use vinyl under the resin, now I know. What heat gun did you use to get air bubbles out of resin? Thank you for your time.

    • @Salmonde_At_Home
      @Salmonde_At_Home  2 роки тому

      I did put the vinyl under the resin so that it would not peel up with use. Any heat gun will work. The one I normall y use is just one I have had for many years that I picked up at the craft store for 40% off. You don't want anything that gets too hot, nor do you want to let the gun sit in any one place on the resin. Keep it moving at all times so you don't scorch the resin.

    Love your video. How long did you let the Krylon glaze dry before adding your vinyl and Resin?

    How long after doing alcohol ink tile do you have to wait before applying resin?

  • @cherricea
    @cherricea 2 роки тому +1

    Beautiful! Question did you purchase glazed ceramic tiles? I have unfinished ones and it absorbed the alcohol ink

    • @Salmonde_At_Home
      @Salmonde_At_Home  2 роки тому

      Yes, they need to be glazed tiles. Anything that is porous will not work to get the alcohol inks to spread. Alternatively, you can first lightly coat your tiles with resin and let that dry before you use your alcohol inks. The resin will be nonporous when dry.

    • @benz862
      @benz862 2 роки тому

      If coating the coaster first with resin is difficult, you can try spraying it with a clear coat in the form of a spray can. It dries in 20 minutes and should retard the absorption of the inks into the tile.

      I used Ranger's Adirondack alcohol inks. I don't remember the colors anymore as I have almost the entire line but if you stick to the brighter colors you should achieve similar results.

    Hello. I made these coasters and I followed your guide. The resin looked good in the beginning but it pulled away from the sides of the tile. What did I do wrone?

    • @Salmonde_At_Home
      @Salmonde_At_Home  3 роки тому

      It could be a few things. The resin could have been mixed improperly, there might have been residue of some sort on the tiles, or if they were soaked in water it could have damaged the seal. Resin can be a very finicky thing to work with and sometimes even experienced users can have issues. Keep working with it though, it is an amazing medium.

    Do you have to seal the alcohol ink before you apply resin? Does the resin make the alcohol ink run?

    • @Salmonde_At_Home
      @Salmonde_At_Home  2 роки тому

      I seal it with 2 or three light coats of Kamar varnish.

    White when a resident has several paintings that it seemed that the resin was separate from the acrylic paint. Why does that happen? I’m afraid to try it again.

      I have two I use, DIY Epoxy's Artisan Resin, which is a thicker resin and Art Resin, which is thinner and takes longer to cure. I also pick up Amazing Clear Cast from Michael's or Hobby Lobby in a pinch.
