Hi Eric, I hope you realize how much Mrs O loves you. You can see it in the way she looks at you. You guys are the best.
WhitwellMike B yeah I was thinking the same thing, the way she looks at Mr O is pure love.
I agree. I saw it too.
It's getting awful mushy up in here!
The banter between you and your wife made the video. It's great to see how much y'all care for each other and how y'all can make each other laugh. Great video as always. Thanks for showing us how to do the cylinder leak down. Have fun and stay safe.
I'm always amazed by the way Mrs. O. is looking at Mr. O. You can really see how much she loves and adores him. Lucky Eric. ;-)
Agreed, nothin' like a bit of chemistry. Don't mean that in the scientific realm either :)
Heath Garton & blocki yall beat me to it! I vote for more mrs. o!lol great videos
Doug: Didn't I see her change your tire once?
Eric: I jacked up the car. All she did was unloosen the nuts and put the tire on.
@@BlindBatG34 Hahaha! I just rewatched that movie the other day. Always a classic.
Great video Eric. I love it when you and Mrs O do videos together. So entertaining.
This was the best leakdown test video I've ever seen. Practical advice, friendly banter, and the kind of experience you'd get from a Saturday morning consult from a neighbor who spins wrenches for a living. I've always been intrigued by the design of a leakdown device. When I realized it is analogous to a voltage drop test in electronics, I got that warm glow of understanding, ha ha.
Finally figured out how to add a comment. Thanks Eric for some of the best automotive repair videos on UA-cam. I retired four years ago with 35 years as a tool and die maker had auto repair in my blood since a teenager. I opened a small 2 bay garage a couple years ago and have used your site for many a job. Keep up the great work and looking forward to the civic diagnosis. Thanks again
welcome to the comment section!
Thank you for replying! im glad you have been able to take part in the internet. please dont stop being excellent.
Lol i feel you. I'm 30 and had to have my 62 year old mom show me how to see Comments
Eric, I have unfortunately seen people make unkind comments about you and Mrs. O. I think you two are a wonderful couple and I'm sure have a great relationship. I don't know much about cars but learn something every video. If I ever get to NY, you are on the list of people to meet.
I like Mrs. O's diagnosis, "Yeap, it's broke."
The way Mrs. O looks at you.... PRICELESS. Wish you guys all the best.
Dr.O having Mrs.O next to you helping is so friken cool. Your channel by far is the BEST. YOU HAVE SUCH A GREAT LIFE.
What's better than a video with Mr. O? A video with Mr AND Mrs. O. !
Another favorite video, Eric. Real life isn't all that much fun but you have a gift for making the most of it when the situation permits. You may not even notice you're doing it but Mrs. O amps up your play factor X 10 and that's what I've enjoyed ever since the early days. Never forced, scripted, or rehearsed. Good Heavens, please find time to service her timing belt before she decides to do it herself!
Man, you and Mrs. O need to double team these videos more often! This is gold!
Mrs. O is now blind, cracked her shin, lost her mind, receiving grief, and having arm fatigue and the inadvertent finger from Mr. O to us viewers, I am laughing - thanks for making my rough day just a little better.
It's great to see Mrs O sharing a chuckle in the shop instead of just trying make you eat rabbit food.
Quick tip to find compression stroke.. put a balloon ontop of the hose that's in the plug well. When it's the compression stroke it will inflate
This channel just keeps getting better and better. It makes my day when I get a new episode notification.
Yup, pretty much blown head gasket,my bet is cracked head but I dont know much about those heads. That had to be the best video of you and the Misses, some good times! Its great to see you a bit more relaxed, for a while there you were pretty hard on your self. We all have times like that I am sure you know that. Anyways, great to see you two clowning around, having fun.
My cheap HF tester works differently where I adjust the air pressure to the set point on the right gauge while disconnected and then attach it to the TDC cylinder to read the left gauge. My TDC finder is a wooden dowel while hand turning the crank bolt, but a poor result (compression leak) is often corrected by turning the crank again for the next TDC. In the old days I'd just remove the valve cover(s) to make sure the valves were closed.
I always start with a compression test, removing the fuel injection fuse while running, to ensure fuel won't wash down the cylinders and the engine is warm.
For the leak-down test, I remove the radiator cap, the oil filler cap, the air intake tube, and open the throttle. Usually I listen for air escaping from all those openings as well as the tailpipe but recently I bought a 6 channel electronic stethoscope where I could place sensors in all those spots and just click through the channels while listening. Sure it was a $72 splurge but what the heck.
I absolutely love these videos with you and Mrs O together, you two are a riot, we get a two for one video on these with the mechanical and the double O show, please just keep it up, you guys are great
Hello Eric & Mrs O
Enjoyed the video and showing that the crank can move during the test very usefull for novice to respect. Looking forward to the teardown and rebuild. I hope you will display an accounting of both hours and detailed charges for required repairs.Demonstrateing the difference will help people understand why a salvage unit not always the most economical way to go. Time is a valuable commodity. As I am a confirmen SMA supporterI hope that a full rebuild will be required but my bet is that once the head is off only top end will be necessary. Have a great Day.
Brian & Shotty
When you first said you were going to have Mrs. O bar the engine over, I had visions of you putting her on a creeper with a large pry bar! You're lovely wife is a real trooper!
any sma video is good, they're even better when mrs.o is around. this one is in the top 5 for most entertaining and i learned about leak down testing too
Great light-hearted video! Mrs. O should be your side-kick in the garage all the time.
This is an instructional video for the quality of patience in significant others. Eric O. is blessed to have a good partner in grime....
I was about to comment, "C'mon pull the head and let's see some carnage!" but the banter is worth the extra video.
Videos get better all the time, great job by the both of you.
Such a lovely assistant. My wife won't help me at all except for bleeding the brakes.
Eric. You are one of the few luckiest people to have an assistant like you have. I too have an assistant like you, the only difference is mine has her own flashlight and we always work together.
Your videos are pure entertainment and learning cool stuff at the same time... I wish all other videos out there (not yours) were as real and down to earth like yours... no fuss , just the real thing.. Please continue to post such great videos... Seriously... i Cant get enough !
Great video with both of you. Looking forward to this series. One suggestion, it would be interesting to show your cost at the end, vs what customer cost would be, to show why a rebuild of existing engine/repair often isn't an economical choice. People often don't understand the time involved.
An excellent idea, hopefully Eric will be kind enough to enlighten his viewers on this aspect.
New to the channel but always love to see the lovely Mrs. O... she's awesome.
My guess, it needs a head. Hopefully you will continue this series. Between Evan making home made stew and Mrs. O joining you in the shop, I'm getting to really enjoy these videos.
I hope you know how blessed you are to have such an assistant.
Mrs O , You one nice lady , even if you hate being on camora THANK YOU for helping out when needed !!
I like when ms.O is in the videos helping. The ending was pretty funny especially.
Would love to see more videos with Mrs O as co-star. Great chemistry between the two of you.
I luv it when you bring Mrs O along in the Videos!
Been following you for a while Eric. I think this may be the best video to date. Honestly the wrench drop at the end rocked LOL
The entertainment value just watching you two , priceless!
You two have really good chemistry.
Big fan 2 hours North of you
Leak down tells the story. Thank you for demonstrating.
A balloon works great to find compression stroke when no assistance is available 👍🏽 great demonstration of how a leak down tester aids in trouble shooting
You should have Mrs O in all the videos of this series just to give a simplified explination of all of the problems. When she said "It's broke!" at the end of the video lol. The joke about the card was gold.
Hi Eric, love your vids, really enjoyed the Ford F-150 spark plug removal vid, and as a formal Honda owner loved this one. Also I cant help but to notice Mrs.O is wearing dreamcatcher earrings?. Im Native myself. Keep up the great videos.
Best video ever with Mrs. O. Love your video please keep them coming. God bless you and Mrs. O
Mrs.O always awesome and an excellent helper too
You and Mrs. O make it worth watching for this Hondoo.
This video was so much fun. Subscribed!! The banter between you two was just great. It really made the video !! I perform leakdowns the same way. But mine are boring. Thanks again
this ones great, love the joking back and forth with the wife. im showing this to my wife now. im sure she'll get a kick out of it to
I enjoyed this video between you and mrs O.. you guys are an awesome couple !
Mrs. O was the star on this one
Loving Mrs.O keeping you wound up good and going right Erik
GREAT TEAMWORK! Interesting how much you learn via the blowby test,
Great video! I like the methods, I usually hook a vacuum gauge up to my leak down tester hose to find TDC, you can watch the vacuum and compression stroke and find TDC. thanks for another great video. keep them coming!
Off with it's head, nice to see y'all havin fun.
Mr O you are a very lucky man to have such a Pretty Helper...
This Civic is a potential money (and labor) pit. Before cranking up the parts cannon, re-torque the head to specs and redo the leak test. I got an extra southern summer out of a well-worn BMW 4 cylinder by doing that about 20 years ago (along with Stop-Leak for good measure). Also, on the leak tests it is easier to check air flow out of the larger openings with the palm of your hand over it rather than your finger down in it. Great video! Mrs. O should get her union card and go pro.
Great video, I never had a beautiful assistant when I was working, you're a lucky man!
I love seeing you and Mrs O doing videos together your humor is awesome we share that auto humor that's only few understand. Lmao. Grest video
That 1.7L engine is a funky one. Good video.
What a great video! This is why i watch every single one . You 2 are so hilarious and inviting. Thank you for the entertainment as well as the education .
Why didn't say to have popcorn ready and sit back. You and Mrs. O... a great team.. Oh was there a leak test video you were showing us? looool It's always fun to have Mrs. O in the videos.
her laugh though, love it. laughed my ass off most of the video. was thinking to myself when he blasts that thing full of air she's going across the shop. great video. can't wait to see the teardown.
here's a very good easy tip Eric O use a old school fuel pressure vacuum gauge to test for tdc the guage will go vacuum when down stroke starts an will go psi when up stroke starts on tdc
Excellent video with some great banter..! I can't wait for part 3..! Good work Eric O.. :-)
nice job always learning something to find top dead center maybe you could leave just a little air on the tester until it builds pressure,
*GORGEOUS- AND CAN REVERSE A RATCHET? SHE'S A KEEPER* Like to see a smoke test please.
Oh Man, we love Mrs. O...
Haha - Great video Eric, the Hondas likely fixable and good to see a couple having fun even when at work.
Mrs O seriously needs her own channel:)
Great series so far, the suspense is killing me, wanna see the head removed...
Y'all are hilarious. Good team effort on the leak down test! Learned something new!
Great content like always! I enjoy the banter. About time to replace a timing belt for the Empress of SMA. The hint has been dropped with digital evidence....
You guys are both informative and entertaining !!! good combo
Mrs. O was saved by the bell! Something's wrong with it. (the Civic) Thanks for the video.
The stripper dust banter A+ I nearly soiled myself at "I'm making you a card"
Mrs O has a wonderful smile! Keep up the good work :)
luv you guys and your family banter! and all your videos!!!
Use Mr Bubble in the holes. Make some sudz 8) Have you had the time to pull the head yet!
Thanks Mrs O. You got a keeper Mr Eric
Another good video from the O family.....
Pushing 70k subs! Good work on the vids. The SMA channel is my crack! I nervously twitch till the next vid comes out. 😎
Great video! Always great seeing you two work together
Good video. Pleasure to watch. Got a little Burns and Allen routine going there :-)
Absolutely love this video 😃 running out of space on the locker doors for Rockauto magnets 👍
Great stuff. My favorite channel on UA-cam. I hope this civic doesn't have any aftermarket stuff on it ha.
I am sure it will have plenty in the end!
She needs to be in more of your vids.
Eric, I owned and drove a '99 Civic LX for 16 yrs as my primary car, 237k on it when I traded up. If it had been an automatic I'd probably still be driving it but the clutch pedal was wearing out my old left leg. Never had any serious issues with it. I really don't think they make them like they used to. My brother bought a 2012 Honda Civic and it was trash IMO comparatively speaking.
Oops, sorry, didn't realize that was your Civic. I'm sure it's a very nice car. ;-)
That was fun to watch! Lol! You need to feature Mrs. O more often! :)
You and your wife are awesome! Great how she helps you out
Such great info as always but can't deny you two are an awesome pair indeed thanks for the info and entertainment
Thanks Misses O for the bravery and for hanging that Ratchet!!!, the water jackets getting air definitely not healthy for all engine so tell the customer the bad news that radiators aren't suppose to receive compressionary excitement from head gasket!!!; )
you two are amazing together you remind me of Chip and Jonanna on Fixer upper and educational to boot , what more can we ask for
Great video, Mr and Mrs O are awesome.
Great video and a great couple. Keep it up you guys.
11:26 that's right Eric, show your subscribers some love haha :D great video as always, you two in tandem are funny as hell, can't wait to tear the head down. Regards from Croatia
I guess that middle finger is a universal symbol.
Croatia in da house!!!!!!!!!
nice job always learning something to find top dead center maybe you could leave just a little air on the tester until it builds pressure
Best to work in the firing order after you identify #1 compression. On 4 cylinder I use 4 large wooden knitting needles down the the plug holes. when all the tops of all 4 needles are a equal height you know all the pistons are at 1/2 stroke.
That's how I do it. Put tester in, hook air up and open full and crank engine over. Unless there is no compression at all you'll know when you're there.
+andrew w macfadyen what's the point of being at 1/2 stroke? Don't you need to have the piston all the way up @TDC to get a pressure reading?
+brian toscano Do you mean run air through the piston chamber and crank the engine until you get the most minimal blow-by reading possible on that cylinder?
I was hysterical laughing at you two working together.
thanks for the laughs, I couldn't stop! made this video just great! you guys are awesome!
Spanish here.. love ur videos
Mrs o is a trooper great stuff
