I am still impressed at all family members jump in and help do any and everything. Whether it’s operating heavy machinery or working cows or on top of the barn in construction, they just do whatever needs to be done. The young people can do so many things.
Thank you for the update. Farming is mentally and physically draining. The fact that you put these up and allowing people to see in your life is amazing. thank you ❤️❤️❤️
@@acresofclayhomestead It is fun to see the curious cows, the calves running and jumping around and playing. Dad milked 2-4 cows by hand. We picked the corn, combined the beans and oats. Ground the corn with a hammer mill powered by the H farmall and a belt, added supplement by hand. Baled hay with a a/c roto bailer after it was mowed with a sickle bar mower, dried, and raked into wind rows with a wheel rake. Bales were picked up by hand until we bought a wheel loader and stacked by hand in a stack on the edge of a field and covered with a plastic sheet. The soybeans were put into a flat floor grain bin with an elevator and the bin was emptied by elevator with a lot of shoveling. The oats were shoved into and out of their tongue and groove board bin and fed mostly to the hogs. Still don't like hogs to this day. No chopper, skid loader, semi and dump trailer, tandem axle truck with dump bed. We had two 4 wheel wagons one had a hydraulic lift, the other a handy man jack in a frame that lifted the front of the box. Just a shovel and pitchfork and a lot of labor for the rest. It is nice to see how we should have farmed but didn't have the equipment. The farm was 240 acres and i don't know how my dad kept us all clothed and two sisters in college. We had three gardens and canning was always going on in season. Planted sweet corn with the 4 row jd planter. Vine crops were in the second garden. Ate the occasional cow or pig that wouldn't sell for a good price etc.
There are other channels that is worthy of this comment. Certainly your channel is as well. You and your family with the farm. It's the only thing left for America that can be television . Hollywood and the news has left america in the dark. Every episode is waited on and not always patiently. Thank you for all your sacrifice and hard work. It allows us a little sanity in the crazy world. Thank you George and Pam
Very good video as always. I remember letting the heifers out in spring after being cooped up all winter, they went crazy with all the room to run. Hope everything is getting better for you and your family.
