I think that stick needs to be adjusted. Curious though you are getting stuck in the directions that have over travel. Forward being float mode like you said. The other direction you were getting stuck, on a JD is fast dump for the bucket. I was surprised to see tractordata has this listed as a current model its not one you see on dealership lots or at least around here anyways. I think most people go up to a 4 series for a lot of the same complaints you had about this machine. Also was surprised to see tractordata says the 2020 price for one of these was only 32K.
The 3R cab loader design is horrible! It's cable driven and makes some real tight bends and turns. This is what makes the loader hard to operate. We bought a new 3039r cab this year and sold it within a couple of months. My wife has a bad shoulder and had a very difficult time using the loader. Deere needs to update this to an electric over hydraulic or something that makes it easier to operate.
I like how the dash says ground speed implying that there's a water and air speed.

Hydraulics and hydraulic controls (cables) are pathetic. It has more “slop” in the controls than any vintage 1950’s worn out tractor. Sad.😪😪👎
