  • Needed a case sturdy enough to roll around on the floor of my jeep for my cheap laptop. Made of heavy 12 oz leather. I wanted a pseudo military look, kinda like a Victorian explorer would carry if the had laptops back then. The most overbuilt laptop case possible I think.

    I like how there's no commentary or repeating music. When it comes to doing leather work, there's no wrong way. These channels are rare. Thank you.

    I have seen a lot of beautiful leather laptop bag videos, but this is definitely among my top favorites. Thank you for sharing this, I learned a lot from watching this. God bless your craftsman's hands.

    I imagine the case is worth more than the computer. Very nice.

    Love the bag, super specific sizing for any ever changing laptop design.

    I don't see this as being overkill one bit. The one problem I see is that the rivets might scratch the laptop, so if I were to make something like this I'd added a liner inside.

    Excellent quality and workmanship as usual, really inspired to have a go and something myself.

    I really like the style. I think I would like the "possibles" bag built into the case though. Very inspiring to try myself. Thanks for the video.

    what I like about it, "and I make them also" is that it's not to pretty "if you will" but it has an antique look to it, in other words "looks well used" something like that if it was a top end high glossy finish it will get scratched up very badly very quickly every time you use it so to speak, anyway "WELL DONE SAYS I"

    That is definitely a very durable laptop case!

      It is, but, I'm not sure I'm sliding my very expensive laptop inside it if he didn't cover up those exposed rivets.

    Really nice case. Will outlive the laptop. Probably by several times. But a good job...

    Great video cool design. Can you also do a video on the small round case for the power supply. That bag was cool too

      Sorry about that, I don't have any footage of that bag, it was supposed to be part of another project that never saw the light of day.

    I didn't see how you covered the rivets on the inside of the case. If you made it for a laptop the rivets would scratch the case.

    Are those larger needles than what you normally use? Do you use a different awl when changing needle size? I see you also push the awl all the way through, I worry I'd make the hole too big, but that's obviously not the case.

    About how long did this bag take you to make from start to finish?

    That case looks so luxurious! Would bring prestige to anyone lucky enough to have it! Fantastic work! What oz leather was used?

      I can't remember exactly but I think it was about 10 or 12oz

    Not something you would carry around in school. Maybe if you are riding a motorcycle or scooter with the laptop on the back.

  • @joelwilman8712

    To me it seems that the rivets were set just below the surface of the leather.

    • @agarfrance9272
      @agarfrance9272  7 років тому +2

      Yea, the laptop has been in and out of the case many times and it's shown no signs of scratching. But if I was to build a case for a more expensive laptop I probably would do something about it, maybe a liner. Anyway the rivets are just for show, there's more than enough strength just in the stitching.

    I have to wear both gloves when hand stitching. I must be puling the thread to tight cause it cuts my fingers if I don't wear both gloves.

    • @seanhazelwood3311
      @seanhazelwood3311 6 років тому

      Eddie Hubbard You may be pulling too tight, but even proper tension will hurt until you build callouses...which takes time.

    • @TexHoss1
      @TexHoss1 6 років тому

      LOL, I have been doing it that way for 30+ years & my callouses don't seem to help. I reckon I am pulling it to tight. I make sure the thread is down in the stitcher's groove that's for sure. I have got a Cobra class 4 machine but wind up hand stitching all of the stuff I make.

    • @seanhazelwood3311
      @seanhazelwood3311 6 років тому

      Eddie Hubbard I never figured on that, I can break thread without drawing blood now.
      I'm the same way about hand stitching, I do it all by hand now.
