Even at age 53, dealing with terminal cancer and feeling pretty crappy most days, I still wear my pearl necklace every day, put on my lipstick and now wear a chic wig. It really does make me feel better and gives a confidence and even hope. It's always fun to dress up a little. I'm so glad I can have fun with makeup and now wigs! Love your glow, inside and out :)
I’m having a difficult week. Most people will probably think I’m just being weak and kinda pathetic. But these emotions are very real to me. My husband is in Vietnam with our daughter, traveling there to show her where her father came from. She knows the story of how her father escaped communist Vietnam and how he found freedom in the United States. But now she gets to see this foreign land. I’m happy for them both. But I’m feeling very alone and quite sad. My health isn’t great right now. And one of my little dogs may be seriously ill as she is old and showing symptoms that could be heart failure. Oh how I hope this isn’t the case. She’s my favorite dog ever, my Wendy. Thank you to anyone reading my comment. This feels like a safe place to share.💞
Renee, take each hour at a time. Hope your Wendy will be ok. Hope your daughter and hubby will be back home soon. Do some reading or spend some time on a hobby you like, or start a new one and the time will go by. You can discover new things about yourself as well. Take care and prayers for you, the family and doggies.
Hi! I am so sorry you are having health challenges, and your Wendy may be ill. I can relate. I am not in the greatest health, and I lost my dog Tiffany many years ago, but the impact it made feels like yesterday. The only thing that got me through is my deep belief in God. I pray to him several times a day for strength and courage. He always has my back. If you have a religion that you practice, pray to your god. He will help you in so many ways. I will pray for you, Wendy, and your family. God's blessings to you always. ❤️🙏
I am also 69 and will be 70 in November. I had let my hair go gray for about four years and after losing my husband, the stress of everything I felt like I just aged 10 years and I just recently went back to coloring my hair and it’s giving me a new lease on life. I feel better about myself. I’ve had people tell me they don’t believe my age. Call me a young widow and I am just starting to feel like myself again. Getting back into make up which I really wasn’t wearing much of caring for my husband, but I am taking care of myself now I may be 69 but I’m still alive and I have to enjoy myself while I’m here. I’ve made some friends. I’ve been going out for dinner with people and I’m socializing. It will be a year the end of this month that I lost my husband, so it basically took me almost a year to get myself together.💕
I also am 69 going on 70 and stopped coloring my hair. I love my silver hair. Most people here in Florida have silver/gray hair so when I see a woman with colored hair around here she looks out of place. I don’t feel any older since I let my hair go natural. Loved your post! ❤
@@loriwise3177 I wish my gray were pretty silver. Only the front was the rest of it was a very mousy salt and pepper. It wasn’t a pretty color if it was silver I would’ve kept it. Funny you live in Florida. That’s where I moved from. I lived in the Fort Lauderdale area for over 40 years but after losing my husband, I had no family left so I moved to North Carolina to be near my sister and her family. I miss South Florida tremendously, some people have the most beautiful silver hair and I am envious of that. Mine was not attractive at all so coloring it. It looks better but I really hate the upkeep and the expense. Thank you so much.
Yes, I understand. I am a strong, independent Aries, and a 68 year-old woman who recently moved myself to Costa Rica, and by myself . And yet, I don't want to be so self sufficient that I cannot access my feminine side and at the cost of romance. Again, I believe there needs to be a balance.
I'm also 69 and turning 70 in November. I recently won a 22 year battle despite a few men at work who fought every promotion I sought. Got the last one and will soon walk away from a successful academic career with my head held high. Had to work a lot harder than they did, but I won (just in time). Loved this video.
We have done it all " backwards and in high heels" ...which were designed by men! Little wonder!?! Congrats!!! I left the academic life and never looked back. I am much happier now.🎉
I just turned 72 and I don’t act, think or dress like the 72 yr olds from yesterday. I’ve had people say I should dress more my age but most people compliment me. I think what ever makes you feel good do it. If not now then when.
I’m 72 also and friends tell me I don’t look my age, I get 45-55 years old! No face lifts, no Botox! And because of Susan ,Rosehip oil has really made a difference ☺️
My cat died this week. It was quick and she didn't suffer. She died at home and my husband buried her. I got her for my mom, after she was diagnosed with dementia. Ronnie gave my mom two happy years. She gave me a few more and made mom's passing a little easier, if there is such a thing. I'm heartbroken, but It could have been worse. However, my husband really has had my back and he's tried to protect my heart. That means the world to me. Thanks for letting me unload. I hope everyone has a wonderful week.🤗
“Another spring… how lucky am I!” At 73 I say this to my self regularly and just take in all of the God given beauty around me. I am so grateful for everything that stirs my senses and makes me thankful.
Im 58 and my mom is 91. We talk alot about everything. She often tells me, everyone says men are the stronger ones but, that's not true. Physically they may be but, we women are stronger in every other way. I love my mom. I'm lucky I still have her❤
It's because people then lived through the Depression, they learned to be resilient and to be frugal. My mother has just passed away at 98 and was always careful with money even after she didn't have to be. I also think people were less vain then. They didn't mind if they were seen getting older.
I recently lost my 94+ mother also. I really do have to figure up her age bc it was NOT ever spoken about until she was much older and she took pride in that she could still work when she wanted, be the Vice of her women's auxiliary, was active in the same church and kept performing in theater well into her late 80's. She received a lifetime achievement award and proudly walked to the stage to accept under a month after bypass surgery. I'm still slowly opening the boxes that were "picked FOR me" of some of her things. Don't get me wrong, this kind of mother was not the easiest to grow up with, but now I can see that she felt she was born way before her time and everything she wanted to do in her young adult life was met with "you can't do that" in one form or another and she didn't want to disappoint, but motherhood was NOT appealing to her, but she had the 3 of us and was truly remarkable. I'm still listening for my phone to ring and sometimes I can't wait to tell her something ....until. I always see these videos on Saturday evening and maybe just once I'll be busy and have to catch it later! Lol. We women are not recognizing how STRONG we are and much of it is due to the tough women who came before. 🩷
@@jules8910My Mother used to recycle everything-was very frugal but also was a wonderful Mother and worked her whole life as a waitress in big hotels and expensive restaurants. Looking back I don’t know how she did it all! Fabulous home cooked meals, beautiful gardens but spent little on makeup-powder and lipstick was about all she used:)
I’m 62 years old my first album was I am woman by Helen Reddy. My mother gave it to me. My mother was strong and independent. Had a hard life but really did it all. She just passed two weeks ago and I miss her so much.❤
I’m 79. and hope 80 will be the new 50! I think women these days have the opportunity to look younger with natural looking makeup and hair coloring. I like dressing in classic clothing and we do look put together with a column of one color. We have so many more options than our mothers had to look younger. I often think of the leading woman in My Fat Greek Wedding when she said the man may be the “head” but the woman is the neck that turns the head. It is true that we have influence on so many things because we are strong.
At 53 my husband died, he had always been the leader in our family, I was scared of everything. We had been members of a very conservative church so all my peers were the same. It has taken 20 years to be able to think for myself. I have left that church and lost all the friends I had for 50 years. I am in the process of making new friends and a new me. I have gotten stronger and recently turned 75 and feel stronger than I ever have. I will continue to grow and by seeing your wonderful videos I know I’m not alone. Thank you💐
It is so true. I look at the photo of my grandmother on her 50th birthday and she looks like 80. Truly. I always say rock 'n' roll keeps me young. I put it on, the Eagles, America, and even Joni M., and dance around the house or sing a long like I used to do at 18 only now I'm 75 but still thriving. I love clothes, outfits, decorating, friends, great conversation, family (what's left of it), learning and doing. But, with all this, it would be nothing without acknowledging God's blessings and I do all through the day. Blessings to you Susan and everyone here.
I am 76 and love to still look stylish. Yes I have wrinkles and I am a little over weight but that does not mean I have to look my age. I wear a stylish hair style and most importantly I feel young inside. Am I a beauty no but I am me and yet I get lots of compliments . I wear a smile and lot to compliment others.
I will be 72 soon & have gone totally grey from platinum blonde ! Had to change my makeup & that was easy! Been through stage 4 cancer & am greatful for every minute I have on this earth! Enjoying my children & grandchildren able to help them when they need me ! Nothing else is important !
I turned 72 in March, and I sometimes forget I'm old. I love fashion and always have. Ever since I was 12, I would buy Seventeen magazine, then added Glamour and Vogue. Also, I loved my teen magazines. I still wear jeans and T shirts, but I love to dress up. I still color my hair and wear makeup. Thank you, Susan, for your channel, I look forward to seeing you and Desi and going thrifting with you and walking with you in your neighborhood. You give me hope in fixing up my home and garden too. When are we going to see Hal again? You two are fun to watch. See you next week.
I love getting dressed to just go to the grocery store. I like looking nice. One of the blogs I follow said that when she walks into a restaurant some women might think she is over dressed but she felt it was a badge of honor to look nice and stand out. She was proud of the way she looked and how much effort she put into it. My mother always dressed in outfits not just clothes when she went out and she passed it down to me. And she got it from her grandmother. And I also learned how to be strong from those women. They gave me a lot of good lessons and self confidence.
We have come a long way in many areas. I am a 63 year old women who works as a Wiring Technician with all men in the business I work for. I have been told I do the best work by my boss. Yet, all the men have working partners. I am single. I get paid the least for doing a better, more efficient and more productive job. I have been harassed, yet refuse to quit primarily because I need the job. My husband divorced me after over 20 years of marriage. I was left homeless with not much but my IRA account. He got everything. So yes we can vote, we have aged better, we have come a ways; yet we have quite a ways to go.
It sounds like a really interesting job. I always thought of my jobs as a way to pay my bills. I put my all into my work and didn't get the appreciation l deserved either, but sometimes it's enough to know we are doing good work.
It seems to me women are payed less then man even they do the same job, it´s a shame!!! Why isn´t anybody doing something about it!!?? I live in Europe and it´s the same here!! Greetings, Conny ❤
Hi Susan, some of my friends that I have met recently don't like the way I speak up for myself, but like I tell them, if you don't stand up for yourself than no one else is going to do it for you, l always stand up for myself and I tell them, all women have to stand up for yourself no matter what and if a man doesn't like it, l tell them, all men always stand up for themselves too, so what's the difference, and they realize, you know you are right, hugsssss ❤❤❤
Thank you Susan for having this channel. The women that come in here are like a Sister Hood. I had a rough hour ago. I just couldn't wait to visit the channel. I so needed this tonight. Susan you are definitely on that band wagon. 👍 Be blessed this week. Same here with the makeup 💄. Moving on Down the Road 🎈
I'm past the 70 mark and I'm a very lucky lady. #1)My mom and her three sisters were all good examples of caring for of yourself and they all looked and acted younger than many of their contemporaries. #2) I have never been told that I should stay in the background, because I wasn't capable. I know that we can be soft and strong at the same time. I know that strength outlasts power. I know that emotionally strong men want strong women and emotionally weak men want weak women. I know that most of us are trying to do our best. And, I know that others' negative opinions define them, but not me. My goal is to speak of strength and be a good role model to honor the strong people in my life, who have taught these truths. Thank you for this insightful message, Susan.
I’ve been living in Care for nine years. I’m turning 57 this may. I’m physically disabled and last may, I acquired long Covid. I was a spunky feisty child. I’m still a spunky feisty woman! My peers have always been different than me in a way that has made it easier for me to make friends and have relationships with people, older than me [Biologically]. But I’ve been isolated all through the shutdown and I get out about every nine days to get a few groceries or to go to a local park for a little while. Today was one of those days. The sun was bright and shining, tiny wildflowers of all colours at my feet I marvelled at Nature and the centurion trees with bird song filling the air around me. And lucky me, I’ve been Imaging that I can still make a difference in this world. And while I’m planning to start a channel and taking the first steps to learning how, I’ve had a little doubt creeping and I’ve lost a little faith in myself and perhaps confidence. just listening to this video and finding your channel and hearing you speak and seeing you radiate kindness, truth, realness, and more, restored my faith. Thank you so much for inspiring me. Sending you so much love light and beauty. I have tears running down my cheeks because I’m so moved by meeting you. PS what a beautiful flower, little doggy & your beautiful self, too
@@wildhorses6817Thank you for your beautiful message. I will definitely do that. Not only have I found a beautiful person’s channel, but their followers are beautiful people, too. As they say, “it only takes one candle to light them all.” I’m wishing you all a very lovely week.
I have never been a fan of foundation. I have always had great skin by working at it. I now live in Florida and most women here do not wear makeup. We wear sunscreen but still get a little glow from the sun which is perfect for me. I am 69 and will be 70 next April. I love being this age most days but love enjoying the simple life. You are such a treat and always look forward to your posts. You help me in so many ways. I especially love Desi…give him a kiss for me. What would we do without our fur babies…life would not be the same. ❤
Love this Susan! As I approach the magical age of 77 this summer I will also be making a lifestyle change of selling my home and moving to a more appropriate size home. Scary but exciting at the same time.
I have used Ponds cold crème under my foundation for over 47 years when I would get ready for work. Since retiring I don’t wear make up anymore unless going somewhere special. I forgot to take better care of my skin, however you have inspired me to start using skin products that do not cost a fortune. You live in a beautiful are, living in Florida where it is summer almost all year around my wardrobe consist of shorts. I’m going to be better I just ordered a linen shirt and some pants that look like boho print and light weight. Have a Blessed week you and Desi❤❤❤❤❤
It’s just too hot in FL so I hear you! I don’t wear makeup often because by the time I get ready and get in my car my face is actually dripping. Mostly I have sunscreen and lipstick on. My friend has Melanoma and trust me you don’t want it. Make sure you have sunscreen on the back of ur hands. I started putting a light pair of gloves on when I drive.
I don't do plain...in anything. In my teen years l took a six month finishing school course. During wardrobe class the teacher said, "There are different approaches to style. Some women suit a dramatic mode, others a very feminine one, or a gentle quiet look. Some want to blend with the crowd while others stand out." She asked me what l wanted. *I replied, "l WANT THEM ALL, except for blending in...I want to stand out."* Decades later l still want that.
I have come a long way from being an abused young woman in my first marriage. A second marriage was not with abuse, but a smoking husband that caused me to have Asthma. I had to walk away to save my life. And a boyfriend who was a hoarder. Again, not a bad guy, but one causing me harm through hoarding. Here I am now, on my own, my daughter is grown up. Yes, it has been hard. But I am doing it! Not easily, but still I get up every day knowing what I do is up to me. If I have a bad day, maybe tomorrow will be better. I am visiting my best friend soon in North Carolina. I have known her for 51 years. Things sure have changed since then. Not always for the better. But I will keep on going anyhow.
Good for you to realize you can make it on your own. It is different for you but isn't the freedom from discomfort of the poor habits of another so uplifting. It certainly is for me! Peace in my home is so satisfying and essential, even if there are times I feel lonely. I have never been married but have lived with a man twice for less than 2 years. My independence is so much more rewarding than feeling harassed by another's behavior in my healing home and refuge to renew. Men are learning if they want a woman in their life they have to step up and be respectful and allow equality. We no longer have to try and prove ourselves. We now know our worth! We can now allow ourselves this glorious truth about ourselves. It is the truth! We are profound creations designed by our Almighty Creator! Blessings to the feminine. A balance of the heart and the mind! ❤🎉 I trust the younger generation will be able to adjust and live in this respectful way of relating . We have paved the way!! 🙂
I loved this video. Thank you for addressing women and out right to vote and the women that came before us to fight for our rights. Vote for your rights ladies and our sisters coming after us. 💙
I just turned 71 this past Thursday, i so appreciate this " gift" of aging, because my mom died at age 56,& my only sibling,my sister died a month after turning 50. I'm heading into unknown territory here, but grateful for the chance to explore it! Kudos to all the suffragettes who fought for us!
I’m all grey and 53. I have recently been complimented by strangers about how they love my hair. It seems as though peoples view of aging and beauty are slowly changing, for the better. I have a minimal beauty routine as I am allergic to products, including hair dye. I love watching you and your beauty tips, you’re so gorgeous inside and out. Thanks for helping other women feel good about themselves!!!❤❤❤
Your message about the female vote is so poweful! Thank you. I love your sunroom and your pretty garden. And, your black and white polka dot blouse goes very well with your black and white pillows and throw. Very classy.
"The hand that rocks the cradle rules the world." Truer words have yet to be said. Having choices in Voting, career, marriage or not. That scares most men to death, even today. Inherently most know that if the playing field was ever level, we could leave them in the dust . And...they might actually have to act as true partners and look outside themselves and introspection seems to be something most avoid. Married twice, at 66, I am coming into my own every year in a way that makes ME happy. Because, like so many of you, WE have done the introspection. 🎶 Listening to lyrics of current female artists helps revive my hope that they have learned from watching us. Listening to music from the 60's & 70's makes me smile and dance. Looking at the road ahead, I hope we all link arms and keep the rights our predecessors worked so hard to get us...just to be thought of as equals!!!🎉❤
I really enjoyed this video! I’ve grown into a strong woman over the years due to certain things that have happened during my life time.. I’m 70 years old.. I live alone with my little dog 🐩 Harley. 💖🐩🐾
I'm so grateful for YOU! For your beauty, wisdom, sensitivity and joy of life. I'm 47, I have 3 daughters (22, 21, 16) and I'm divorced. My ex- husband, a doctor, he had other women in hospitals, apart from patients. After divorce I'm finally happy, I like myself and I see my strength and beauty. I'm psychotherapist, and I often recommend your channel to Polish women. So, thank you!!! Greetings from Poland. Joanna
My grandmother was born in 1902. She never talked about getting the right to vote as a young woman. I wish I would have thought to ask her about that. Blessings to you and Desi from Midas and me!
Woke up in California to my first you tube recommended video of the day, yours. My mom passed one year ago today and she embodied the women of strength you talk about, who fought for our rights. Thank you Susan. This was fitting and a great reminder that we women are resilient, amazing and strong. We are beautiful, inside and out. Wrinkles and all. Have a blessed day everyone here😊
My friend and I are on a beach vacation, we've known each other since age 4. We've taken long walks on the beach reflecting. Wonderful to recount shared memories and look forward to the future memories!
At 74, I don't think we saved and planned for our retirement very well, so I rarely buy clothes. However, I curate my wardrobe and mix and match everything. I am frugal and thrift to decorate. I love my healthy white hair. My husband and I are healthy. Thanks be to God.
Hi Susan❤ I’m 69 and will be 70 in October and one of the things I notice is that our age group seems to have more resilience - a friend of 72 and I are both called back into classrooms to teach regularly - busy right now with the syllabus and helping out much younger teachers who are struggling with so many different illnesses. Difficult times for many. I find myself wearing more youthful pants and tops than I might have chosen for lounging about at home - perhaps a good thing as I like swimming and my tracksuit 😁…
I’m 57 and people tell me that I look in my late 30s. I laugh at that. I believe why we look younger these days is because of technology, better nutrition, skin care and the most important fact is that we don’t put up in situations or people who want to bring down our peace and joy. Susan what a great video, and Desi looked so cute with his bow tie. Thanks for sharing your view and wisdom.
Unapologetically living my best life now after years of being shamed for being outspoken and independent… by the grace of God I’m still here… my children and grandchildren are blessed and I’m still here… things have certainly changed Susan yet we have the choice to pass on courage, grace, kindness and compassion… always and in all ways 🎶💕🎉 Thank you for being you 🙏🎶💕🎉
It saddens me that after those brave women back then fought so hard for us women and in 2024 women’s rights are being taken away! It’s very scary but thank you for talking about this Susan. Love your videos each week and seeing you and Desi💕 P.S. your sun room looks beautiful with all your lovely plants.
Watching Desi looking up at you Susan when you were gardening melts my heart. I can see the love he has for you and the love you have for him. ❤🐾💕 That is so beautiful. 🫶🏻🥰 We are from the same generation I remember Aunt Bee and the golden girls. I miss those times I also love the 1950’s generation the Donna Reed Show and Leave it to Beaver. 💕
From Australia I was just watching on TV... Million dollar listing... Nothing. NOTHING on it tho fabulous compares to your home & your photography of where you live Beautiful Suzie So appreciate seeing and listening to you each week 🌹. Thank you
I am 70. Things did not completely turn out the way I thought they would. I am a planner and had goals. But, you know what? I am very happy with where I am and what has happened. Age happens. A number is not the end. It's part of the process. I intend to move forward and achieve as I choose. My hair has changed color. Okay, I try new colors to wear and new makeup. I feel a little stiff but no problem, I have things to do. Your videos seem so personal. Your views resonate with people. I thank you for the work you put into your posts.
I'm turning 74 this July. Well the number is climbing and I am grateful to be here. I get a very early in the morning makeup hair dressed nice everyday if I'm home or not. Oh there are days I stay in my PJs and I don't answer the door😅😅😅
Love your pep talks. I love flowing romantic cotton dresses and pretty shoes. I always dressed in feminine dresses until one occasion my husband said “ just wear pants”. That really hurt my feelings and I stopped being me. I dearly loved him but he passed away. After 52 years of wearing pants, I have finally begun to find myself. I just bought new makeup and getting my hair styled like yours. My stylist says at last that style will work in my fine hair! The dresses are next. Thanks so much
I would love to walk and run along that path you showed at the beginning of the video as it looks absolutely enticing! I turned 70 last Oct. but my brain still thinks I'm 45 and I have worked hard at staying healthy and fit which will carry me forward for many years to come. I do like to wear make-up and dress, not like a 20 yo but comfortable and stylish. "You're as young as you feel" and yes! "we've come a long way baby' 🙏 Happy, safe week everyone.
I do really look forward to your videos! Interesting about women and voting. Unfortunately, there are still too many men with this mindset. Isn't it about men feeling like they're not going to be taken care of, also? You are so right! Thank you, Susan.
Working as a nurse most of my life I wore uniforms. My wardrobe was meager at best. I always sewed my own clothes. But only in the last ten or so years am a really able to dress well and have fun enjoyable, well-fitting clothes. I am working toward 70. This is a moment in my life to feel really good about the way I look. I don't think I will ever not want to look as put together and well dressed as I can be. Thanks for such a wonderful video and great support for being an older woman.
THE WOMEN BEFORE It is not just your mother who may walk with you in spirit, it is her mother too. And her mother’s mother. And her mother’s friends, who loved by choice and not blood. And the women before them. Generations and generations of female energy, watching in admiration as you forge ahead living better, feeling better, accepting better, than they ever did. As they were much hoped you would. So, when you feel low, lonely or unloved. Remember them, feel them. They are with you, and they burn brightly with their boundless light, in everything you do. You, my friends, are the ‘moment in time’ of many women gone before, and you will lay pathways, like they did, for those who come up next. What a beautiful, unending legacy. ~Donna Ashworth
This was an excellent piece of work, a gift to all us subscribers. By the end of watching it, I felt such a richness from it. Thank you and God bless you.
@@vera214T I went back and watched it again. I think the appreciation for the Suffragettes was pretty big in Michigan. Don't know why 🤷🏼 But the mother of a lifelong friend of mine from Michigan drummed it into us as young girls how important the fight for the right for women to vote was. How far we've come! And how important it is now to fight for our rights🙏
Hi Susan...my week was still upseting...i loss my cat Sandy...she was with me 7 years...im do hurt and in so much pain... Im crying all the time she was my everything.......I will be 78 in August my has been one of taken care of myself...I love your channel..
I'll be 79 later this month and was raised in the South. My dad was a "southern gentleman" that believed women didn't need education. Their place was to be barefoot and pregnant! Oh yes, I .. we have come a long way.🎉
I am 48. I was raised in and still live in the south. My dad was also a southern gentleman and he did not teach me such a thing. He insisted on my going to college even though we couldn't afford it. We managed. Never bothered me about having kids and getting married. I was 33 when I married my husband and 34 when I had my first child. The idea that women should stay home and raise children isn't "southern." It's everywhere.
When I was listening to you I was like “what is she talking about, I never felt that way growing up or as a young woman” Then I remembered I was born and brought up the other side of the pond. We have a huge mission as mothers and grandmothers to raise our daughters so they would know their worth and power.
You look so great Susan!! My mother lived to be 69, she died of lung cancer. But almost till the day she died she always fixed her hair, painted her nails and put on makeup. She was overweight but she never let that stop her. I’m 58 and I can remember my husband’s aunt getting remarried at the age of 50 and I was 23 and I felt she was so old to be getting married again. But I see things much different now it’s like 50 is so young to me now. The world has changed and I seriously can’t tell the age of people anymore lol.
Yes I needed to hear this today too. I’m 70 myself and I’m had a hard day. I signed with my daughter got alone and was over a year and finally they took out all the rest of it out of my checking account just when you think you’re about done then something else happens. That’s what I’m wearing tomorrow. My black dress I could use your polkadotted shirt to cover it up with that would be great. I’ll have to find me one. You always look so nice. Always enjoy your videos. Thanks for making our day.❤
I will be 70 on August 18th. I don’t feel 70 and don’t look it either. I feel young and think young. I love makeup and new hair styles. I’m like you , I’ve changed up my makeup to let “me” shine through. I love a bright lip and jewelry, esp bigger earrings with short pixie cut, refreshing.
Really good video. I’m glad you recognized the strong women who blazed the trail for us. There are many good books and documentaries out there about these strong, courageous women, they should be remembered.
Susan, I think this is one of your best videos yet!! Women have come a long way. I graduated high school in 1974 and wanted desperately to go to college but was told no by my parents. I couldn’t go because I was a girl. I worked as a secretary for years going to college at night. Married my second husband had 2 boys and went to school to become a nurse. That marriage ended but I kept going raising the kids and obtaining my BSN and at 55 my MSN/Nurse Practitioner. I rented an apartment for 15 years while I raised my boys and worked at a nearby hospital. My sons’ dad died while they were teenagers. At 60 I bought a townhouse. I am now 67 still working night shift as a Hospitalist NP, in decent shape, go to the gym, swim, need a knee replacement. My boys are grown but one left and moved back so they are both here. It wasn’t easy but I did it and I did it by myself. I have no student loans. I have a paid off Nissan Rogue and am paying down some credit card debt. I am going to my 50th high school reunion from a Catholic girls school in June. Life is good. Not always easy but it is good. ❤
Thank you so much! You have such a kind beautiful heart. I am honored you are part of the chahnnel here...thank you so much! xo Much love, Susan & Desi
Hello Susan and Desi, I wasn’t strong while growing up. But because of the trials that I went through, they absolutely made me stronger, wiser and more content with myself and life. Take care until next week! Desi looks adorable in his bow tie!🦋🌷🕊💖
Thank you Susan, for being part of my Sunday. I enjoy listening to you. You looked sad when you started your talk, but seemed better by the end. I have those days, so I understand. Happy Spring! XK
Aunt Susan . We have Arabic proverb life began at 60 . Age is just number . Young at heart . We have to be energetic persons in our behaviors taking care of ourselves, making people around us happy , helping needy people. Thank you for your wonderful advices series .
At 71 years old it is great to find women close to my age on UA-cam. Your videos are wonderful and I look forward to them every week. This topic was great and I related to it looking back. We’ve come a long way. I recently watched I Am Woman, the Helen Reddy story. 😊
Hello from Canada Susan and Desi, I watched your Saturday video Sunday morning with my coffee, I had gardened all day Saturday and fell asleep early, was a fabulous video, just love when you walk around your garden I sure wish I was there to help and enjoy your garden with you, God bless and see you next Saturday have a great and blessed week❤️🇨🇦🇺🇸❤️💐🌷🪷🪻
Susan, I love the way you make everything look pretty. I can make things look functional, but not pretty. In about 6 weeks I will be 80 and I have lived through some of the changes in the world. Years ago. even though I was working, I couldn't get a credit card in my name without my husband co-signing for me. I have seen so many changes in the work place, as well. We have to stick together. I don't know how to act 80 because no one in my family, except my grandmother, has lived this long. And she was very active. I may not be as active as I would like, I am taking after her. And I will not give in. I will keep going forward. Sending Light and Love to all of your subscribers. ❤🙏❤
I too will be 80 in a few weeks, and thankfully most days feel like 40 (except when I First get out of bed in the morning). I truly think exercise is the secret elixir.
I was out of town for a couple of weeks, so I am just now catching up on the videos I missed while away. You know I always thank the service men and women who have fought and are fighting to make it possible for me to vote. I have never thought to thank the many women who came before me who make it all possible in the first place. Thank you so much for the reminder. I would love to sit down with a cup of coffee and just talk with you for an hour. I am also 69 this year but I know you could teach me so much. I love you and Desi. God Bless.
I enjoy the softness in your voice and your beautiful smile. I have been into black and white this year also. Clothing and home decor. Thank you for taking us on your walks and little adventures. You could easily create a photo book of your town. Complete with poetry and musings.
Oh, Susan! This is such a great video! Ah! Women’s History Month in March! I am purchasing some books on the history of the women’s suffrage movement on Amazon! I did some research on this at the university in my 40’s, and I am 75 now! There are excellent historic videos on UA-cam, and during March I was blessed to watch some on my smart television! My new television is a great God story! A friend gave it to me at Christmas after she learned that my old one finally went to TV Heaven! Never stop learning, my Lovelies! Every day is change, is a precious gift! We are gifts to each other! We are eternal spirits and God bless you!!
I've always loved monochrome clothing, or at least solids. I've never been one much for prints. It's been years since I've layered a lot of makeup. These days, I only wear a lot of makeup if I have the opportunity to perform. 💃 I fascia blast regularly. It stimulates blood flow and smooths out my skin. I love it. It serves me well. 🌺 🇨🇷 🌺 Women need to be careful...we've taken on a lot of masculine qualities...and some men have taken on a lot of feminine qualities. It's not conducive to relationships. Striving for balance is a dance 💃
Wow!! Great video. Everything you said about women is exactly how I feel. We will not let anyone take us back to 1920, 1970s or 1980s. If we have to fight again then so be it. We will prevail. We are strong and men know this and it scares them to death. What a great message. Thank you❤
Using oils on my skin is one of the best things I’ve done for it. I live in the Southwest and it’s dry. So, extra moisture that oils give it help tremendously. I recently turned 70. 😊 I had some apprehensions about it…thinking about how old that age was 50 years ago. But! I’ve overcome that little bump in the road and am enjoying another Spring! 2 of my grandchildren are getting married this year and I feel blessed to be here for their weddings!! Susan, you are the one that introduced me to Pumpkin Oil, Castor Oil etc. Thanks! Everyone have a fabulous new week!
Hi Susan! Your skin looks really great. I love the Bare Minerals powder foundation in medium tan. Haven’t used liquid foundation for years because I feel it is to heavy. Thank goodness for all the strong women and where we are today. ❤
Hi Susan and Desi.....check out the tulip festival happening in Holland this week and for Mother's Day. I know you love flowers. Thank you for reminding us we are beautiful older women.❤
Susan, I’ve been watching a few videos from 3 years, one year, and a few months ago…We have a lot in common. The abuse, the betrayal, cycles, how we have learned and survived to thrive! I feel like we are sisters, now! I’m praying for us both!
You are such an inspiration. I look forward to you and Desi every week. I am encouraged to make the most of my life at this stage. You really motivate me to decorate my home and truly enjoy it even though I live alone. I am so thankful time to take care of myself and enjoy retirement.
I’ll be 72 in August and dress just like the pictures you showed. I’m allergic to hair dye and went totally gray five years ago and get a ton of compliments. Fortunately I don’t have any wrinkles yet and I’ll wear a bikini on the beach if I feel like it. Just because you’re older you can’t just give up
A very special video. Thank you so much. Thank you for all you do. Love to see you and Desi doing things together. Love to you and Desi AND to all the special women in this world,,,
Even at age 53, dealing with terminal cancer and feeling pretty crappy most days, I still wear my pearl necklace every day, put on my lipstick and now wear a chic wig. It really does make me feel better and gives a confidence and even hope. It's always fun to dress up a little. I'm so glad I can have fun with makeup and now wigs! Love your glow, inside and out :)
❤😮
🙏
Sending you love and hugs even though I don’t know you ❤️❤️❤️
Me too!! I'm sending you Love and prayers lovely sister!! 😘❤️🙏🌈
@@Ms.Stephanie.C thank you, I appreciate you!
❤
Renee, take each hour at a time. Hope your Wendy will be ok.
Hope your daughter and hubby will be back home soon.
Do some reading or spend some time on a hobby you like, or start a new one and the time will go by.
You can discover new things about yourself as well. Take care and prayers for you, the family and doggies.
Keeping you and your sweet dog in my prayers. Hugs
You are not alone. Thinking of you.
I love spring. It's like God is saying, "Behold, I make all things new!"
Exactly!!
Every spring seems more beautiful than the last. I think, wow, how the earth forgives for all the bad things we do it year after year.
I love that!
AMEN 🙏
That’s so Beautiful! 🌸
I'm sorry about the loss of your spouse, but glad to hear you are in a better place! My 70th is November 23, when is yours? God bless!
@@kbencsik1 Thank you so very much. My birthday is Nov 28th. It’s on Thanksgiving this year.
I'll never go Grey, too old looking. My girlfriend goes with the beautiful Lucy red and she's always getting compliments. Vavavoom!!
I am 70 years old and I have paid dearly for being a strong woman but looking back , I wouldn't have it any other way. 😊
an oxymoron !
I also have paid the price. But life makes us who we are, so I think I add to the mix.
I with you sister..♥️🇮🇪 watching from Ireland
New Zealand was the first country in the world where Women got to vote , it was 19th September 1893 . Very proud of our little country !

I'm also 69 and turning 70 in November. I recently won a 22 year battle despite a few men at work who fought every promotion I sought. Got the last one and will soon walk away from a successful academic career with my head held high. Had to work a lot harder than they did, but I won (just in time). Loved this video.
❤❤❤
Fantastic! Well done! ❤
We have done it all " backwards and in high heels" ...which were designed by men! Little wonder!?!
Congrats!!!
I left the academic life and never looked back. I am much happier now.🎉
👍🤗
Oh, congrats....You go, Girrrrlll!!!🎉😊
I just turned 72 and I don’t act, think or dress like the 72 yr olds from yesterday. I’ve had people say I should dress more my age but most people compliment me. I think what ever makes you feel good do it. If not now then when.
❤❤
Same here 👍 ❤
Yes! ❤❤❤
I’m 72 also and friends tell me I don’t look my age, I get 45-55 years old! No face lifts, no Botox! And because of Susan ,Rosehip oil has really made a difference ☺️
you go girl! no one stops me LOL
I'm so sorry about your cat. I have three kitties in kitty heaven.
So sorry much love to you!
Sorry for your loss.
I’m glad ur husband has had ur back. Love and support when you need it the most. My parents passed years ago…I hope I see them again…
Oh Donna...I am so sorry!!! Much love to you...
“Another spring… how lucky am I!” At 73 I say this to my self regularly and just take in all of the God given beauty around me. I am so grateful for everything that stirs my senses and makes me thankful.
Oh this is so sweet!!!! Hello Sista!!! How lucky are we!!!!
Im 58 and my mom is 91. We talk alot about everything. She often tells me, everyone says men are the stronger ones but, that's not true. Physically they may be but, we women are stronger in every other way. I love my mom. I'm lucky I still have her❤
Yes, my Mother died when I was seven, I often wonder how different things could have been.
It's because people then lived through the Depression, they learned to be resilient and to be frugal. My mother has just passed away at 98 and was always careful with money even after she didn't have to be. I also think people were less vain then. They didn't mind if they were seen getting older.
My Mom passed on April 21., 2024. Was always frugal. She was young in the depression era, but it had a huge impact on her.
@@sandycopeland790 So sorry for your loss.
@@jules8910 Sorry you lost your Mum, she sounds like an amazing woman.
I’m 62 years old my first album was I am woman by Helen Reddy. My mother gave it to me. My mother was strong and independent. Had a hard life but really did it all. She just passed two weeks ago and I miss her so much.❤
I'm so sorry for your loss❤
So sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you 🙏❤🙏
I’m 79. and hope 80 will be the new 50!
Me too, I hope it means we will be in the 50 category ❤
HI just take good care of YOURSELF :) I'm 77 and I'm doing very good with my skin and body. MY motto is "never forget that young girl inside of you"
l
Also 79 cant believe i got to this age love clothes make-up still colour my hair love music
Thank you💐
@@sandrajohnson926You have been very courageous. I applaud you!
I love Hal
Good for you congratulations!!!
impressed with your skills. Keep applying for similar jobs that pay more if that is your goal Cs your boss is using you.
It seems to me women are payed less then man even they do the same job, it´s a shame!!!
Why isn´t anybody doing something about it!!??
I live in Europe and it´s the same here!!
Greetings, Conny ❤
We need the Equal Rights Amendment enacted into law. After 52 years 12 states are blocking this legislation.

Happy weekend Elaine!!!
Ooh… I’ve just put my name down for the future …. Starting to clean up and down size. It will take me a few years!
As a first generation Scandinavian woman in the US… we have always been strong and powerful. And the men in our lives admired that strength.
I am Danish and I know what you mean 😊
I don't do plain...in anything. In my teen years l took a six month finishing school course. During wardrobe class the teacher said, "There are different approaches to style. Some women suit a dramatic mode, others a very feminine one, or a gentle quiet look. Some want to blend with the crowd while others stand out." She asked me what l wanted. *I replied, "l WANT THEM ALL, except for blending in...I want to stand out."* Decades later l still want that.

@@LittlePoet The same to you. I feel as if you and Desi are family. Thank you for opening your lovely home and your hearts to all of us.
Well said👍🌹
I have come a long way from being an abused young woman in my first marriage.

Thank you.

Beautiful-Susan ur home and you are always looking so pretty! I noticed all the details including Desi’s bow tie 👍🌷
Yes, vote to protect our Rights and for freedom. 💙💙💙💙
I treat myself to your videos whenever I can. Please continue to make these thoughtful and inciteful videos.
Your area is so beautiful! Thank you for showing such beauty in your world with Desi. I look forward to your episodes each week. - Belinda
At 74, I don't think we saved and planned for our retirement very well, so I rarely buy clothes. However, I curate my wardrobe and mix and match everything. I am frugal and thrift to decorate. I love my healthy white hair. My husband and I are healthy. Thanks be to God.
The best thing, is that you’re healthy. 😉🌸
Unapologetically living my best life now after years of being shamed for being outspoken and independent… by the grace of God I’m still here… my children and grandchildren are blessed and I’m still here… things have certainly changed Susan yet we have the choice to pass on courage, grace, kindness and compassion… always and in all ways 🎶💕🎉
Thank you for being you 🙏🎶💕🎉
It saddens me that after those brave women back then fought so hard for us women and in 2024 women’s rights are being taken away! It’s very scary but thank you for talking about this Susan. Love your videos each week and seeing you and Desi💕 P.S. your sun room looks beautiful with all your lovely plants.
Agree. And once you lose a right it is hard to get it back.
I’m scared to death for what the future could bring for us women.
@@jeannieroew3654 we are strong and vote for our Best Interests 💙
Watching Desi looking up at you Susan when you were gardening melts my heart. I can see the love he has for you and the love you have for him. ❤🐾💕 That is so beautiful. 🫶🏻🥰 We are from the same generation I remember Aunt Bee and the golden girls. I miss those times I also love the 1950’s generation the Donna Reed Show and Leave it to Beaver. 💕
From Australia I was just watching on TV... Million dollar listing...
Nothing. NOTHING on it tho fabulous compares to your home & your photography of where you live
Beautiful Suzie
So appreciate seeing and listening to you each week 🌹. Thank you
Wow, thank you! You made me cry! You are so kind...much love and happy Sunday to you!!!
Your sun room looks so pretty with all the plants. The pink princess is very unique and beautiful!
🩷🌱
Hi , Susan and Desi, You are so beautiful inside and out. You make me smile 😁. Thank you soooooo much. Stay well
You are one of my top 3 utubers. I can't miss a week
Thank you so much my sweet friend!!!!
I always feel better after watching your videos … like I have just spent quality time with a dear friend ..and darling Desi .. love that beloved boy!!
I'm turning 74 this July. Well the number is climbing and I am grateful to be here. I get a very early in the morning makeup hair dressed nice everyday if I'm home or not. Oh there are days I stay in my PJs and I don't answer the door😅😅😅
ME TOO......😊
Yes
I’m so happy you and Desi are family🥳🥰🐶
I do really look forward to your videos! Interesting about women and voting. Unfortunately, there are still too many men with this mindset. Isn't it about men feeling like they're not going to be taken care of, also? You are so right! Thank you, Susan.
I have to agree. Many are not so good at taking care of themselves and still feel that is our job. Not mine, that is for sure!
THE WOMEN BEFORE
It is not just your mother who may walk with you in spirit, it is her mother too.
That’s beautiful. 💪
Beautiful words fellow sister ❤
This was an excellent piece of work, a gift to all us subscribers. By the end of watching it, I felt such a richness from it. Thank you and God bless you.
You melt my heart!!!!! Thank you so much for watching and understanding!!!
I felt the same way. ❤

I'm so sorry about the loss of your beloved cat.

@@suzettecooper382 ..thank you very much..I'm trying to move on..miss her.
We have a huge mission as mothers and grandmothers to raise our daughters so they would know their worth and power.
wow! I love this!!!
@@LittlePoet 🥰🌺
You are gorgeous! Thank you for being an inspiration. 😊
Susan, I'll try to remember that. The least traveled road, is the roughest, but the most beautiful!! TY! Profound as usual. Luv to the Des!❤🐕
Sending so much love to you and yours, Sues & Desi
I will be 73 in October and I strive to be healthy, smart and keep up with the times. Great video!
Your photography is so beautiful 🥰

I turn 70 in December, I love your attitude, it's probably what keeps you looking so beautiful. God bless you an Desi abundantly .❤❤❤❤❤
I’m 72 ! My resume looks like the yellow pages 😊my best career was a Navy Pilot 🧑🏻✈️ 1970’s 😊 life is for living !!!!! love your UA-cam channel ❤
Thank you for serving our country.
You are a beautiful lady. You are so kind. I love your videos. Desi sure did look like he was having fun running around the yard. You have class.

Hello 👋Beautiful Lady🌹..How are you and the weather condition like?
Thank you for your encouragement ❤
Yes, so true. Females can become too masculine, then become alone, unhappy. Balance is key.
You hit it on the nose about the role reversals. I see more feminine men these days than I care to count.
Yes!!! Oils are amazing!! And the price is right too!!!!
I love pumpkin seed oil
Hi Susan! Your skin looks really great. I love the Bare Minerals powder foundation in medium tan. Haven’t used liquid foundation for years because I feel it is to heavy.
Thank goodness for all the strong women and where we are today. ❤
Hi Jeannie! How are you and the weather condition like ?
Couldn't agree more about the makeup. I'm almost 67 and I go very minimum with my makeup now.
Im 63 and everyday i put makeup on. I love to look good! Finally someone that understands! Thank you so much.
Every day for me too!
I'm going to be 65 in June!
Love to you and Desi AND to all the special women in this world,,,
Beautiful pink flower and a HANDSOME fur baby. You have it made in the shade. SHALOM
