On June 29th, I went back up to the Nashville area to see about trying to get L696 through 3rd Avenue in Franklin again. Unfortunately, after a few hours of waiting, I went off to use the bathroom and snag lunch. After lunch, I went-up to this crossing, where I saw there was a northbound lined off of the CSX S&NA North Subdivision, and a CSX worker waiting to do a heat patrol. As such, I got set-up, and went over to talk to the worker, finding out there was a W082 coming north and it wasn't too far out. After about 10 minutes or so, CSX W082 came rolling through with an ET44AH leading an AC44CW for power. Always nice getting another ballast train.
Sadly, this would also be the only train I saw on this day. The worker was able to show me that L696 was still down in Spring Hill, which gave me the hope that I may eventually catch them on this day. Unfortunately, after waiting until a good bit after sunset, I never saw them before I decided to pack-up and head on home. Definitely was a bit of a bust of a day, given that I only shot one train, but I suppose it was at least better than none. It seems that on the weekends L696 is still running their normal overnight schedule, so I'll have to see about coming back here Tuesday morning.
Thankfully, as you can see, no major changes have occurred to this crossing since I last recorded it. Both of the original Federal Signal bells here are thankfully still going fairly strong, which is always great to see. Easily one of my favorite crossings in the Nashville area, even if northbounds can easily sneak-up on you here.
