Well you know I loved this reaction video! I see a new series for you. I loved hearing all your thoughts on the deals. I remember asking myself WWCB, What Would Christine Buy? 😂
! know! Her voice goes through my head as I shop. Christine says "Hard Pass", Christine says "Buy them all!" LOL
🤣WWCB... We need bracelets.
Loved both of the videos!
😂😂😂 WWCB 😂😂
I bet you were so thrilled that Christine did this reaction video! Great job on the clearance deals, Shannon 😉
This video just proves what I already know. You are THE most practical woman on UA-cam. Your shopping, cooking and tips are always spot on and have made me a better shopper by comparing price per ounce instead of a large package that looks good but is deceptivly high in price. No loads of TexMex, or look at me or my cute kids, etc. You just get down to it in a fun way. I watch your every video and today sharing another's shopping trip is so generous of you. Your advice is THE BEST. Love you Christine!
I love HEB! Their store brand items are always delicious and they have just about everything you could need. They treat their employees well, give back to the community, and provide more relief during disasters than our state gov 🙃
I live in California. We do NOT have an HEB. But my son lives in TEXAS. He does and introduced me. It is the most awsome grocery store in the WORLD! They have clothes, toys, makeup, pharmacy,in store Dr office, a bakery that you smell throughout the store.. Homemade tortillas , store wrapped cheese and meats HEB brands, flowers inside and outside, outside patio furniture, absolutely wonderful. Patti
This is beautiful, creators supporting eachother ❤️
Agreed. And the varying view points and in-depth discussion each provided shows we can all learn from each other, even if we think we're already well versed.
I love how sweet you were during your reactions. 🥰
As a single income homeschooling family we needed to get our spending under control. So, my daughter and I have been binge watching your videos and we went out on our first clearance/bargain shopping hunt yesterday. We went to multiple Kroger stores, Big Lots, Walmart, Aldi, and Dollars Tree. I have to say Kroger was the best for bargains and Aldi was the best for all around everyday low prices. The best finds were my daughter's favorite yogurt for .50 cent off, naan bread for a third of the price, and cold/supplements for a 1/3 of the price. There were other great deals but not of foods we eat. Thank you for sharing your wealth of knowledge. Also, I like these react videos because they teach us what to do and don't do. God's best to you.
I love that you are reacting/promoting a smaller creator. Class act:) 👏👏
YES! After stopping making cookies and baked goods from scratch, bc it was getting expensive, I noticed cookie doughs and pie crusts seemed expensive also. When I was little, like around 10 or so, we had an extra freezer/fridge in out garage. My mom would go to the "day old' hostess store and buy lunch snacks and bread and freeze them. She would also buy pre-made pizza doughs and huge cans of pizza sauce and large bags of pepperoni and cheese and we would spend a weekend morning making like12 or 14 unbaked pizza's and freezing them. We had 6 kids in our family, so 8 people to feed every evening promptly at 6:00. My dad would go out on the driveway and ring a cow bell to call us in from the neighborhood for dinner. My parents did well, we went to private school and all had braces. My mom still accounts for every penny she spends. They bought their house in the late 60's for $19.000 dollars. She could sell it now for about a million and it is just a tract home. MY parents were smart. I am thankful.
Thanks for pointing us to someone as fun as you!!😃
After seeing your last haul I was so inspired to try it for myself. This morning I left my house at 7:30 to drive the 30 minutes to our closest H‑E‑B. I got there at 8 and was able to fill a buggy with clearance produce and meat. I have 5 kids and I filled my freezer for less than $200. I was sooooooo excited to get such great deals. I’m planning to do this once a month if I’m able to.
I love Shannon. Have been watching her for awhile now.
I shop HEB and they have awesome fresh meat. I usually shop their smaller stores to avoid the crowds. When family visited from out of state they requested to go to HEB cause they heard so much about it, so we took them to one of the large ones so they could see the vast selection of products. They couldn't get over the produce selection. Gotta love HEB if you're from Texas! 😁
I love that you support other UA-camrs. We love FFM!!! My daughters and granddaughters all watch you! I listen to you every morning on my drive from Ventura to LA. Hour and a half! Can’t wait to dive into Shannon’s videos!
I love these reaction videos that aren't mean as well. This was great. She found some deals and you both had some great tips.
Thought about you yesterday afternoon…. Shopping my local Walmart… my daughter tries to eat mostly vegetarian…. School teacher on a budget…. Impossible chicken nuggets marked down to $1…. Ibotta $1.25 back… between her account, my account, and my son’s account, she got 15 bags for $0 and we got $2.25 cash back which covered the tax with a little left over! AND $.25 for any receipt!!!!!
I got 20 pack instant quaker oatmeal the other week for free because Walmart marked them down to $1 and Ibotta had $1 rebate up to 5.
Thank you for introducing us to Shannon. I adore you both. 🥰
Great video! As much as I love these videos, they make me chuckle when I think of telling my 20 years ago self that I would be watching someone on the internet, watching someone else on the internet go grocery shopping. But I'm here for it all day!
Just watched a q&a video from @leaf like on a tree video, I love her already!! Thank you for sharing her info…. I’m going to be binge watching all her videos this weekend!
My current top clearance find is milk:
My local Fry's had 1/2 gallon milk for 88¢ each. While picking some up I saw they had 4 - one gallon organic 2% milk on clearance for 99¢ because the best by date was in a couple of days. Needless to say, I got all of them and both froze and canned them for later use.
Hey Christine 😁 I live in San Antonio Texas and we ONLY have HEB or Walmart (Sam's and Costco). Since we are limited I do 99% of my shopping at HEB. The best clearance deals at HEB are located on their clearance shelves. It's usually near the cold section. I've found some amazing deals on those shelves. HEB only marks the meat down 25% and produce 50%. . What sets them apart from the others and Walmart is, they have their own line of food, freshest meat from local farmers,etc...
I've never seen Shannon's videos before but she looks fun. I think I like her already 😊
I moved from Texas 2 years ago and I still miss HEB. They have the best range and selection for good prices. Since moving away, I had to start going to 3 different stores to get all the same items for similar prices. Also, so much of what they carry is local so everything is really fresh.
I love HEBs and whenever I leave Dallas for south of Waco I make a stop at HEB wherever I can so I can stock up. I like the price of their house brand ziplock brands and they have so many fun seasonal items!
I feel this so much! I moved from Texas to Oregon 3 years ago and miss HEB so much; I had to get my mom to send me stuff in the mail lol The prices up here do not compare to HEB prices.
I miss HEB too! Such a lovely store. Not the best prices across the board, but some items were great, and the produce is so fresh
I moved from California to North idaho when I retired. I shop at safeway in both California and Idaho. Every morning between 8 and 10 the meat gets discounted. There is a place at the end of the meat counter that they put some of it. Mostly the higher priced cuts of steaks. But they also leave a lot in with the regular priced meat. 50% off HB, chicken, pork. I have a freezer full of discount meat.
HEB is where it’s at. Depending on the store you can find fresh tortillas, BBQ, menudo, and tons more!
FYI on HEB, if you have several in your area, check all of them. One is probably their clearance store. We have 4 near us in the Cedar Park /Leander area, but only the 1431/183 store gets all the clearance refrigerator items. Luckily for me, that's the closest one 😁
Love the helpful advice and content creator support! Agree, hate shopping when stores are crowded. Love HEB but nearest one is 1-2 away depending on traffic so tend to do grocery pick up via their ap. You would love the baking section and salsa section. Both very high quality.
Yes, clearance bell peppers! Fun video!
I loved this. I learned more tips from the comparison than ever. In Florida I find the best markdowns on Wednesday morning & Sunday night. Now if I could just stop those..I just need 1 thing ..trips..
I moved to Michigan from Texas and I so miss HEB! I never before had to shop at more than one store before because of HEB! My favorite thing at HEB is the Whataburger products. Their brand of organic products is also AMAZING! They own Central Market so they sell some of their products as well. My family back home sends me things from HEB for Christmas and birthdays
My daughter buys the Whataburger pancake mix, and really likes it.
I still get the marked down apples since I'm usually going to buy some anyway. At that point, and at the speed which we eat them when we have them, the discount is USUALLY worth getting them. The trick is making sure the sale isn't better, if there is one.
Absolutely love the reaction video! Please do more❤😊
First off, who doesn't know what the DOO BLEE DOO is?? (welcome new people) lol Second - HEB. love love love HEB. my favorite is the fruit/veg/produce section. If youre looking for something, odds are they have it. and, at the one in Lufkin, If the Produce Manager is there, he will let you taste anything youre thinking about buying if you haven't tried it before. Love that. and Lastly, I don't walk and there is always someone around to help me if I need something or goes out to the truck with me, unloads my junk and then takes the little car back to the store with me. AND THERES ALWAYS A LITTLE CAR AVAILABLE!! which almost never is the case anywhere else that I shop. Love you FFM!
I learned that at Kroger produced go at 9 to 1030 and meat around 10 and dairy is mark down at night because they get dairy truck at 8 to 10. That's what I learned from my stocking friend at Kroger.. Texas store were I shop.I also learn the best deal is after a holiday especially if it runs through the weekend. Than Monday is going to be lots of clearance.
I literally just left H-E-B and I bought every clearance sticker on whatever I got and thought of you! I filled up one of those handheld baskets for $20 with produce!
I love the 50% off at Jewel (an Albertson store in Chicago). Every once in awhile I find meat way marked down at Aldi too. I have a deep freezer and made friends with the meat department manager at Jewel. So if he needs to move stuff fast he let's me know. 30 pounds of ground turkey breast for 80 cents a pounds? Why yes please give me all the packages!
We have a market where you get 60lbs of produce for $10. I go there every Saturday and pick that up. Then I spend Saturday prepping it all. It's always very ripe. I don't usually see clearance meat but we have good sales so I stock up. I get bread off the mark down shelf and put it in the freezer. Cheese always goes on sales for around $2.50 a pound. I have stock up prices in my head. When it's a good deal I get as many as I can.
If you don't mind me asking what state are you in that you get produce for that price? That is amazing.
@@proudmammaof6148 Arizona
I believe I heard of that years ago. That is awesome. I wish they had that offer in Indiana.
Christine, I love that you took the time to do this video! That is awesome! Thanks for all you do to help us out with our budgets!! You rock!!!
I use to do all my grocery shopping at Walmart a few years back, but got aggravated at them because it seemed like they weren't stocking all my normal items like they use to. Winco opened up closer to my home and love shopping there. It's not as crowded as Walmart, which I really like. I do shop at Albertsons and Krogers, but mainly just for the sale items in the ads. My Krogers has a discontinued/clearance section and have picked up some really good deals there. I like to check Albertsons clearance meat and I check out their bakery clearance also. I still shop at Walmart for a few items that I can't find at the grocery store or certain brand items that we use. But instead of going to Walmart every week or two, now I only go maybe once a month. My daughter likes to shop at HEB, because HEB is known for giving/helping the community/people during a crisis. I'm not big on HEB, to me it's just too big and too many people. I get very confused when I go in there.
Don't forget the bakery mark down racks!!! I live in the Seattle are, and QFC (higher-end Kroger) has the most amazing mark downs on produce, meat AND bakery items from specialty bakeries in the Seattle area - ie., Macrina and Schwartz Brothers bakeries.
This was a fun reaction video. Thanks for sharing.
Yay! I love Shannon, and so glad to see her on here as this is how I found you 🤪
Yes Christine you’re so right about looking at the other sections to find discounts! We’ve lived in two states and had two different Kroger’s and the one we had in Virginia had the biggest what I call “shelf-stable” clearance section that they moved around the store constantly! I got so much good stuff that way that was dented or they were going to stop carrying it for cheap! For example detergent, tissues, toilet paper, dog food, canned goods, cleaning products, chips/crackers. I would also like to add both of my Kroger stores would have sections with discount makeup, skincare, and vitamins. I have gotten some killer deals that way on skincare I’d already be buying! Also our discount bread in one store would be with milk and the new store I go to it’s with bakery items! Just thought I’d share some tips on where to look! Have a blessed day y’all🌼
I live in southwest Va. My Kroger has a clearance shelf and buggy in the corner of the store where they put all of the clearance non perishable items
Our Fred Meyer has clearance baskets in each section. The home section has four folding tables tucked away in the back of the store
I grew up with Kroger in MI but the Kroger's in VA is sooo much better!
Love this type of video FFM! Please do lots more
I always buy the peppers and immediately chop and freeze. I do buy the apples and bananas as 1. it is a good deal here in SoCAL and 2. many times they are the organic produce. You just need to look at the stickers.
Fun video. Shannon seems like a super fun lady. I’ll check her out. God bless 🙏🏼❤️
Look at clearance stuff first when going to grocery stores love your videos thanks 💘 😊
This was super helpful!!! Thanks Christine!! It's like shopping training. Teach me your way....
I love Shannon and I watched that video when it came out so this is super fun for you to do this video about her video! 😳🤣
If you're craving something like cookie dough or other sweets, I highly recommend looking into mug cake recipes and just keeping the staples of those on hand. You can impulse bake a mini chocolate cake in 5 minutes and it will cost pennies versus buying an entire box or can!
They are wonderful for elderly parents who are cooking for one. I impulsively bought one for my mother in law and she loved it. She has trouble using her regular oven since she had hip replacement surgery and the mug cakes are perfect for her.
#5. Bam! Thank you for the “reaction” video. It’s sweet she watches you and makes a FFM inspired video. We’re sticking with the original. 💓
I also avoid busy shopping times.
So, it's been 9 years since I've shipped in TX, but HEB has multiple sales and you can do coupons on top of them. Example: they will have a deal where ketchup is on sale for 99 cents. But they will also have a coupon on the shelf for a free mustard when you buy 2 ketchup. Plus you can use manufacturer's coupons.
When I was in school in San Antonio I used to shop the coupon wall and that helped determine what products I bought that month
I visited the Austin, TX area 4 or 5 years ago and was taken to 2 HEBs. I realize TX has higher food prices than Atlanta, but dang lol, it was expensive. One of them had homemade tortillas, and they were pretty good. I liked the bakery in the bigger store. I always love going to grocery stores in new areas!
You can get alot of pizza toppings at the salad bar and no waste and prices for 5 or 6 toppings run about $4.50 because it is charged by the pound-get way to save, and cheaper than ordering, and you can do it in your pj's
HEB is the best! They have so many store brand options that are spot-on 99% of the time. Their selections and prices meet/beat the local competition, especially Randall's. Produce and meat is always fresh and the best prices in town. I live near Austin and it seems like a new HEB is opened every few months. My daughter moved to the north Texas area without any HEB stores and is having complete HEB withdrawal, lol.
I’ve also found a health food/organic clearance section at some Kroger’s. It usually has gluten free stuff and protein bars on sale.
Loved watching this. You mentioned winco, I so miss having one of those close by. The two stores I have to choose from are Albertsons and Ridleys. Therefore I’ll occasionally get stuff using Walmart’s site and shipped to me. But I do find my Ridleys often has great deals on produce and they have a large variety.
That was fun and she’s super cute. Perhaps you could do another reaction shopping video. Thanks for sharing, Christine.
I like the reaction style! For some reason it just popped up for me. Do more! 😁
Girl, you’re so awesome! Thank you for all you do!
The number one reason that I love HEB is because they treat their employees so well. That's important to me and factors heavily into the stores that I choose. I don't look for clearance items because we can't eat them quickly enough and I don't have storage for extra food. I should look into that...
Love Winco ! I do most of my shopping there. Cool video, you should do more of them, fun to watch ! 😀
My best clearance finds:
3lb pack of beef smoked sausage each $1.99
Diced canned tomatoes $.25 each
1lb pasta $.33 each
5lb bag of frozen chicken $2.97
Shannon is awesome...added her ..thanks!
I buy about 90% of all of our stuff on clearance. Especially clothes..dont know when the last time I pd full price for clothes..Welllllll over at year ago
Most of our food is either bulk clearance, aldi
I have a HUGE stockpile..we wouldn't have yo leave our house for a year easily except for fresh produce, milk, eggs and bread when I don't make my own.
I love this woman!! She is the best.
Sam's Club is less crowded, but I feel like Costco is the superior store of the two. Their store brands are way better quality (and usually taste, for the food). We have Winco 30 minutes from us and it's absolutely worth the drive to avoid shopping at Walmart or Raley's. We do have a Grocery Outlet in our small town, but the quality of the meat and produce is terrible. I enjoyed watching this video! 😊
I love Costco and shop there often. That's where I stock up on particular items like chicken breasts and eggs. They have a great selecting of organic foods.
Sam's being part of Walmart sucks. I hate Walmart. I only go there when I absolutely have to which is more often than I'd like after moving to a small town.
I agree on Grocery Outlet!
Winco is the best!
I have been shopping at HEB for the last 30 years and I love all their products, just as good or better than the name brands! I just discovered their discount branch store, called Joe V's Smart Shop! Look and see if there is one close to where you live, they have GREAT prices! 5 avocado's for $1.00, 3 lbs of bananas for $1.00, 15 pounds of assorted HEB meats (preseasoned) for $20.00. Like fajitas, sausage, ribs, etc. Give it a look and see! Plus, gotta buy the fresh, hot, butter tortillas (and eat one on the way home!!)
Both her and your video was so fun!
To anyone who likes to clearance grocery shop, ask a store associate if they have a boxed/canned goods clearance area. My local Walmart and Kroger both have an area that they put any imperfect box-packaged foods at, and the markdowns tend to be great (most of the time)
I SAW THAT ONE. Tell her, the early bird gets the worm… She has to get to it earlier. Shannon, Set your alarm girl!!🤭🤭
Christine~ hilarious👍👍
Enjoyed today’s video.
I live in Cincinnati -- Kroger headquarters 😃 - I am always soooo jealous of what Christine finds at Fred Meyers. I don't find the deals that she does....but I'm always on "the hunt"!!
Hi Christine.......I got an amazing deal the other day from Kroger's. I also shop the clearance areas of my Kroger Store. Was by the bread aisle and came across 4 wheat breads, 6 white breads and 1 sandwich style loaf of bread, all for the amazingly low price of $.59 a loaf. I pack/make lunches for my husband daily, so I bought them all. Some I will be giving out to family. SCORE!! 😊👍❤
Tammy Lynn Schulz.
Great video, Christine!! I’m going to check out Shannon’s channel. She seems like a fun gal!
I know this is an old video but I agree about HEB. I have to pass 7 markets to get to HEB but I seldom go. If there is a heck of a deal in the ad and/or digital coupons I'll do a carefully pre-planned shop. I do walmart, food king and united (Albertsons). Pre-plan like crazy and am all over those digital coupons and weekly ads. There are only 2 of us now and we eat like kings - cheaply!
LOVED THIS VIDEO!!!!!
I checked out your happy spoons on Amazon and they wanted $24.00 per spoon!! I call that crazy, but I really want them. I'm done complaining, I really love watching you cook!! Thanks for making cooking fun again.
My local grocery stores never have meats on clearance. You guys are so lucky to have a few to choose from.
I love Shannon!! Her channel is really good, I hope you do an actual collaboration soon!
HEB is a cross between Smith's and Albertson's- the local special (potentially pricey) things and meat from Albertson's, but the better prices of Smith's. My parents live in West Texas and we go to HEB every time we visit from Utah. They have in house deli food that is really good and they all have some kind of cafe type food, too (San Angelo has really good Chinese food, West Odessa has a BBQ joint, east Odessa has the tortillas and sometimes Agua frescas).
Fun video! Enjoyed this 😁❤️
I love watching both of you, I love watching your reaction to shopping. I am also trying to get better at clearance shopping.
No Winco or HEB in Florida. Love those prices! We finally have an Aldi. I hate Walmart, but sometimes you gotta do, what you gotta do.
H‑E‑B has the best prices, hands down. They even beat Aldi in many areas. The produce always looks amazing and the selection of items(including specialty) is great!!
I live in Alaska and I'm able to shop like you. Thursdays between 1030-11 I go to fred Meyer and find lots great deals. Also, target is a great place for Mark down items as well.
Loved it! The stores here in the Mitten State are not great lately with the clearance foods since most regular produce is already rotten looking and slim pickings. Now pantry, household and misc items... I've scored some MEGA deals! OTC meds, cereals, sauces, dryer sheets, cleaning products, hygiene items and more... 75 - 80% off.
Actively on the hunt. I love that way of looking at clearance shopping.
The best part of H‑E‑B are Julios chips and salsa!! 😊
I think clearance availability also depends on your stores microclimate. For ex. if some items are so popular they never get close to their sell by date, they'll never go on clearance. Especially if you live in an area where there's only 1 of that grocery store.
It is the Fajita chicken that she shows in her video. It is my go to at HEB i have had my mom bring me a cooler full of the fajita chicken when i lived in an area that did not have an HEB
Aw.. this video was so cute
🥰
Banana bread for Christmas gifts!!
I live in Oregon and we don't have HEB or Aldi, we love love love WinCo. My oldest kiddo is in the army and stationed in Texas. He says HEB is the Texas version of WinCo.
HEB has a really good store brand for all of the basics. Tortillas are incredible. Pricing aren’t as good as Aldi, but Over all the prices are really good! They don’t do a lot of discount or reduced items. They have some coupons, $ off basket.
Coming from a Burb near Chicago I love HEB when I visit my Daughter in San Antonio. The quality and prices I find at HEB can’t be beat plus the people who work there are very helpful.
It is only me now, but when I had a houseful of kids consuming mass quantities of food I bought in bulk at Costco and had an extra freezer. I cut my grocery bill by at least 40% by doing this. I also carefully planned meals and converted an unused coat closet near the kitchen into a pantry so I could stock up. My son (teenager at the time) had a habit of saying "there is no food, there is no food". So on a bi-weekly basis I posted a list on the refrigerator door which was not only a menu plan, but also gave all the available breakfast, lunch and snack options available (and where to find them). LOL
The exercise eyeballs I laughed soooo hard!
HEB is just elite. It reminds me of Publix
On the clearance person doing the markdowns, at Freddie I came earlier he hadn't got there yet. So I figured out around lunch time for the vegs
Good night from Perth western Australia, hope everyone has a safe and happy weekend xo
Tassie girl here 😉😉 good night 😘
I’d love to see a video on max price what you would pay or what you would consider a good deal in different grocery categories. What is the most you would pay for chicken, veggies, ground beef, etc. I’ve recently started couponing and I refuse to pay for certain toiletries now because I can get them for free.
