    I just found out my moms car needs this, after I did the coils and wires and plugs. dealer wants $699 total, but im going to do myself hopefully under $300 new part

    Had the same exact problem in a phantom like fashion on the freeway and after driving for awhile. I swapped the plugs and wires but after I realized it had to be the module and or coil pack. Easy job

    @SimonCowellAI Ya I fixed the problem by replacing the throttle position sensor. I tested the idle air control and it was good. thanks.

    actually I got the car back today, I told them I will repair it. The car now magically has 2 new codes and runs like crap when I pulled out from there. Idles so bad its missing like crazy. I did buy that module and slap in but brought car back to dealership. The service guy said to install it and see if it goes away, only took me 10 min. So either they did something to get more codes now, or something was left disconnected. Now it has #4cyl misfire, and cam shaft sensor.

      My car has that same code p0341 camshaft sensor. It also has a p0300 as well but my dad is convinced that its an electrical problem. He just installed a transmission into my car so I'm wondering if he did something while installing that would pull the p0341 code. I didn't have the p0341 before and it's bugging me. I honestly just want another car now.

      I don't remember for sure.. I either used a multi meter to test it, or I took it to AutoZone to have it tested. Really can't remember. Good luck with yours.

    I know it's an old video but if you're still active maybe you can help me out.
    Just had a question about the replacement.
    Online it says to use diletric grease on the back of the module, do you know if I need to do that?

    • @RoadWarrior72
      @RoadWarrior72  4 роки тому

      Yes I did. My old videos aren't much better than my new ones as far as explaining everything I did but I do remember using the grease.

    @CODxFUNxMAN It's hard to say if it will go bad or not. You are right, they do go bad on the buicks of that era... You can probably find one at a local junk yard.. Just take it to the parts store and have them test it to see if it's good.. All they check is resistance..

  • @RoadWarrior72

    So I bought a 1998 Saturn SL last year it has 141,000miles it's been running good but now it stalls a bit and 3times it's shut off on me while driving on the road any suggestions to what could be causing this. I don't wanna get ripped off at a shop so I'm asking around first.

  • @olenaerhardt7725

    When you installed a new Ignition Control Module did you applied any Silicon Heat Sink Compound or Dielectric Grease? And if so where did you applied it? Thank you for the informative film.

    • @RoadWarrior72
      @RoadWarrior72  3 роки тому +1

      I did not use any dielectric grease because there was already enough there. I made this video a really long time ago but I believe you would put it between where the module mounts but you should be able to see where it was originally on yours.

    Could a slight pa papa pa papa out the tailpipe be this or exhaust leak. I just changed the intake gasket haven't tried it yet bc i lost one bolt gotta get a new one. So far i changed the muffler, spark plugs. Wires. Intake gasket. Tps. Iac. Cleaned throttle body. Valve pan gasket. Battery. Air temp sensor. Radiator fan motor and relay. Air filter. Gonna get a new alternator and ac compressor. This car was in bad shape im bringing it back to life. So maybe coil packs or the other thing or were the flex pipe is is rusty maybe an exhaust leak what do u think

    hey i have a saturn and i pulled the ignition cables from the icm one at a time while running the car and there was no spark coming from the left icm and the spark plugs are new It should be the icm right?

    • @RoadWarrior72
      @RoadWarrior72  7 років тому +1

      +mystery “MysteryGuyJOne13” man haha, i was going to suggest swapping coil packs to see if the misfire followed the coil pack. if so then yes. good luck.

  • @RoadWarrior72
    @RoadWarrior72  14 років тому +1

    @clev76 wow just say this comment, sorry. If you haven't yet fixed the problem, have the Idle air control valve and the throttle position sensor tested, that might be your problem. Just in case you already have it fixed already, what was the problem?

  • @RoadWarrior72

    Yes by salvage yard I mean junk yard.

    I have the same car also I'm having a problem with the car getting hot and fan not coming on can that ignition control module cause that to happen?

    • @RoadWarrior72
      @RoadWarrior72  6 років тому

      I'm not sure the ignition control module would cause that. Could be an issue with the fan or somewhere else

    • @tyclemons161
      @tyclemons161 5 років тому

      On my saturn the fan would only turn on if it was in the red zone. I wired a switch to turn it on when I want.

    What the car does with the bad coil pack ?

  • @jhpaintingpowerwashing7426

    Mine just gave me the code today and it sounds like the valves are ticking now...is this related or just a coincidence? Both started today on my 2002 Saturn SL2

    • @RoadWarrior72
      @RoadWarrior72  6 років тому

      Well it's hard to say for sure. I don't remember hearing any valve ticking or any other abnormal engine noises but it was only running on the two cylinders. You could have some internal engine damage which is causing the rough running and valve like noise. It could also be that the valve like noise is a coincidence due to the engine just not running right. The easy test would be to swap the coil packs if you can and see if the miss follows the coil packs. If so, you have a back pack. If not, it could be something else like the ignition module, like on this one. I'm not sure on the 2002 though. This one was a 1996. Hope that helps.

    Was it also not firing for you? Im helping my grandpa fix his saturn, we just replaced basically the whole engine, and spark plugs, and it wont start. I have a feeling its this part...

      We have compression and weak spark

    • @RoadWarrior72
      @RoadWarrior72  4 роки тому +1

      I had 2 cylinders that were not firing. Unless you replaced the ignition module and coil packs with the new engine, I would say those are probably where I would start. Your best bet is to pull the module out and see if you can have it tested like I did.
