HUGE props to him for looking beyond what he was told and taught, for questioning what was considered "right" at that time! Wish there was more people like him in the medical field... My therapist used to so obviously look for any slight hint of fault in my mother/my parents when in reality, they are why I am on this recovery journey and why I keep going even after relapses!

He is passionate and understanding. I've witness first hand Dr. K treating people with eating disorders and he is very passionate about his work and he is so hands on with his patients that he gets to root of the problem and he always say you can't take the eating disorder away from them but you can teach them how to control it while maintaining a healthy lifestyle. He is amazing with the pediatrics and they are lucky to have such a passionate man.

What a lovely guy, I have been using that model for years, glad to see someone else is. I do see clients with reckless parent who develop ED during their teens. They tell me, "one chaotic person is enough". They didn't develop it as an away to control their lives, they developed it as a way to control overwhelming home life.

My parents response when they noticed I was exhibiting anorexia nervosa symptoms was to bully and make fun of me. I am still fitting it coming up on 10 years later.

Can it be a tragedy of the values of our modern society that the families appropriate and pass down to their children? How about they teach their children it is the health and not the looks that REALLY matters? How about they teach their children it's the concern for others that they need to foster within them as the primary goal? Not self-focusing is the solution to any mental health issue. True success ALWAYS comes through self-realization based on concern for others. I think parents have to step up and teach their kids right.

Again, they NEED to talk more about males with eating disorders. 25% have anorexia nervosa

Agreed, but this video also very much applies to males aswell despite using female examples. I do not know what this has to do to critique the video, other than maybe proving male examples. However, whereMaleway people approach ed recovery and therapy.

This man is well studied on eating disorders speaking as a survivor of it. I’m here to say that I was fully cured of my eating disorder through prayer. I never did any therapy and have had no relapses for 20 years. After numerous failed attempts to figure it out myself, I surrendered to God and began to continually pray to Him to heal me, and that was what finally cured me. To all those suffering with these horrible disorders, God loves you more than you can ever imagine and wants you healed!

Half of mental illness is literally the parent's fault for bad parenting.
It's like the phrase, "there are no bad dogs, just bad owners."
I believe the same can be said about kids. There's no such thing as a bad kid, just bad or absent parenting.
I think parents are definitely to blame in a lot of situations where their kid is struggling with a mental illness. Not always, but USUALLY the parents failed the child in a major way that lead to thie child's demise. I'm tired of people saying don't blame your parents they did their best. Well some parents didn't do their best and they are definitely to blame for their kid's suffering. Oftentimes because those parents are INSUFFERABLE.

I guess it’s like a chain reaction of bad parenting creating similar children that then become new bad parents. Rinse and repeat.

Thanks Karen Buzzkiller 🙄 there’s nothing new on this planet and there hasn’t been for years. The artist of that picture deserves to feel good and not criticized by some rigid thinker who goes around trying to ruin people’s day. Have fun with that.
