The parties deserve to see the contracts. Moody is representing her state.

Going to this level of detail makes the odds of reversal on appeal less likely.

Great video gentlemen. The way this is going, will we decide a national champion in January before we finally get rulings on these cases? That might be a prop bet.

Casual Monday! JY finally got Steve to wear a t-shirt. I saw that white shirt and said “what in the world”?
i’m no fashion police, but do appreciate the Air Force shirt and rotation among the different shirts.

Judge Cooper seems thorough, though he could use an assistant to keep up with his binders of relevant case law. It distracts him, when searching for the examples, from his point and draws out the process.

Cooper is notorious for long hearings. He started off saying 30 minutes a side and then did like he usually does and did most of the talking! You could tell from this hearing that he’s done his homework and the ACC attorneys were wrong several times.
Flugaur lost it when Cooper came back from break and then left again! It was over 7 hours and Flugaur gave on his livestream before Cooper completed his ruling.

"19 hours to figure this out seems awfully long to me" ... Nope. No Florida judge is going to give up jurisdiction to courts in North Carolina. He is bending over backwards to make sure that everybody can present their best case so that nobody can claim that his ruling is biased, so that his decision is "iron clad," so to speak.

The redactions will be limited in the Cooper or Dempsey courts. This could be very important to espn. DeSantis is directing AG Moody.

Sooooooo……… when do any of these cases actually start? As in really start to argue points and not just venue disputes?

It's really starting to feel like this will be one big "We'll just have to wait and see" kind of thing.
I suggest you guys evaluate what Josh Pate has said recently about the ACC being "reconstructed" on Twitter/X. Pate started with a cryptic tweet about the ACC and a gif image. He then further clarified that tweet. I find myself questioning media reporters like Pate. Some of what they say may be true, but other parts can be misdirection. In other words, Pate's trying to hint at the possibility that ESPN is pulling all the strings in negotiations, and that they won't just let Florida State and Clemson leave the ACC without getting compensated themselves. If ESPN still gets their way, FSU and Clemson may end up in the SEC and not the B1G.

Saw a later comment from Pate that basically said, something is going to happen but we don’t know when.
I’ve got a lot of attention for no real reason, in our opinion.

@@TheBigMountainPodcast Yeah. That's what I'm feeling too about Pate's comments tbh. I just wonder why at this time Pate would put it out there.

OMG!!!!! What happened to Steve's face? It is naked. Sorry. I like the beard better. 🤔 Years ago when my beard started getting white, my wife said it made me look old, so I had to shave it off. Of course, now that I am old, it would not matter, but I have not regrown it anyway, though two of our three sons have beards.
Judges can go on tangents, if they wish.
The chance of the NC Supreme Court taking a case on cert at this point seems like more than a long shot. As far as sovereign immunity, FSU could prevail on that, but still be subject to suit in a state other than FL and then argue immunity in the case afterward. It may be premature to rule on that now. Let the trial judge figure it out before it goes up.
In addition the FL law on sovereign immunity is a super hot potato for the NC Supreme Court. They do not want to decide the law of a foreign jurisdiction. If the FL courts disagree with the NC courts, the opinion of the FL courts is all that matters, and the NC SCt does not want the embarrassment of potentially being "overruled" by a FL trial court. Let the NC trial court worry about it.
FL AG is absolutely correct every allegation must be specifically denied. And yes, it is always done paragraph by paragraph, and there is always saving language saying that anything not specifically admitted is denied. If that was intentional by ACC lawyers, I do not understand the strategy. Their pleading must have been done in this unusual way intentionally.
Amicus (friend of the court) briefs being accepted is not at all unusual in a case with such widespread interest. Being allowed in as an intervening party at this point is a whole different matter. That would be weird.
There is probably lots of pressure on FL politicians to somehow jump in due the the tens of millions of dollars per year for FSU potentially being involved.
