FSU/CU can’t be legally “stuck” until 2036 and the ACC admitted it in court. There must be a buy out for both association and tv rights. The trouble for the ACC is that even if they “win” on the contract language, they have to show that 500-700MM is the actual damage suffered if any team leaves (because they can’t penalize any team above another). So they have to show that’s the same damage done if Wake Forrest leaves tomorrow.
It's clear that there's a buyout, and that's what the underlying suit is about. The schools are looking to find a way to lower the buyout number to make it more palatable for leaving. So, yes, they're not stuck.
You are 100% right. The interesting thing is how the GoR will be interpreted. My understanding is it was poorly written and specifies ESPN specifically in it. If ESPN doesn't extend the contract, will the GoR be interpreted to be valid only unit 2027? If that happens, then schools could leave for little to nothing.
So this is a Miami homer and UNC homer. Now I understand them wanting FSU and Clemson leaving. That is the only way that either team will get in the ACC championship much less the cfp
@shawnandrews329 Miami will only win the ACC Championship when both FSU and Clemson are gone, but then again they have won nothing in 20+ years so maybe SMU will start winning instead. Christobal ruined TVD maybe CW will be next.
@seekingthetruth2748 Miami beat Clemson last year with a true freshman at QB. That same freshmen lost by 7 to FSU at Doak against Jordan Travis. Miami now has Cam Ward. Miami is going to score 40 points per game. Last year, FSU couldn't run the ball on Miami even though Miami had several DL out with injuries. FSU won't be able to run the ball in 2024, either. The fate of FSU will be on the shoulders of DJ U. Good luck with that. The thing that opposing fans don’t get is that the administration at Miami has never invested in football until they hired Mario. They've been fleecing the football program. This is why Miami has been mediocre for the past 20 years hiring 1st year and G5 coaches. The investment in football is there. The roster is the best it has been in 20 years. It's not the same as recent years. So, miss me with Miami's always had talent. Miami had back to back top 10 classes for the 1st time in 2 decades. They had the #1 OL class in 2023 and the #1 DL class in 2024. Miami will have top 5 recruiting classes every year under Mario Cristobal. There's no denying what Mario Cristobal is building.
The State of Florida has this pesky thing called the “Sunshine Law” that demands all governmental agency’s from local city/county, school board’s k-12, Board of Trustee for all 12 State University’s, every State College, every State Agency and/or State Department, the State Legislature, the State Circuit/Appeals/Supreme Court’s, etc be open to the public/broadcast and/or streamed for the Citizens of the State of Florida/the Nation/and the World to see. Clemson did not have to deal with a Sunshine Law. Do not be shocked if Clemson, Florida State, and North Carolina all announce they are leaving at once. Go Noles!
@3:35 lol, but nobody is trying to leave the SEC and B1G. Smoking gun or not in all the contracts they are getting paid their worth and many of the B1G and SEC schools (Vandy-not picking on you but looking at you) MORE than their worth in football.
How bout using terms like “compare notes” vs “collusion” or “cheating”. Your analysis of these cases is so slanted and leans heavily against what Clemson and FSU are trying to do. Just irresponsible reporting guys..
The ACC is a “Walking Dead” Zombie Conference. That is becoming apparent to everyone except Jim Phillips ( who wants to fight “Tooth & Nail”) and the bottom feeders like BC & WF. Maybe the ACC can stall past August so Clemson & Florida St have to remain in the ACC for the 2026 season, but 02/01/25 is < 7 months away and let’s see if ESPN remains with the ACC under the same terms until 2037? I bet the answer is no. Why? ESPN has had 3 years to extend and for whatever reason has not.
I personally think everyone on all sides of this should hope Clemson’s most recent motion for summary judgment is granted. It has the potential to end all this nonsense so much quicker and save money for all sides and taxpayers. If the judge agrees with clemson’s interpretation, game over. If the judge doesn’t agree with Clemson, game over anyway. We find out who is right and can move on one way or another. The ACC should want this too if they believe or know that they are right.
Sadly, it's still gonna get dragged along for a while. The media rights after exting is just one part of the war. That doesn't come into play until after they leave the conference. There will still be cases filed in an effort to negotiate a lower barrier of entry (more like exit) to leave the conference.
No matter how bad the contracts are…and how embarrassing and all the angst is disclosed…….being able to get out with TV rights…is still all up to ESPN…they have the money…….get it…they are the source of your survival….your ability to get out….gives you what? Ability to walk away from the existing contract and renegotiate on your own ? With who? With the SEC/B10 which are tied to media contracts already….and if you piss ESPN off….that won’t help you with anybody! Especially the SEC that is in control of their own future . Settlement is the only solution….or shut up and wait your time. Making lawyers rich is all I see on the horizon. This may be ..all to do about nothing….with 12 or so of the ACC programs holding the bag! When are they going to have a ‘minority opinion ‘ or chip in the game…..and not trust the lead programs…or the current ACC leadership…with mixed loyalties for sure…..who is representing who??
Oh your poor feelings are hurt😢... well cry harder because you'll be lucky if the acc even exists after all this. Everybody with a normal cognitive brain knows Florida State and Clemson is leaving and out of this despicable wine and cheese conference regardless of what happens. And that's all straight facts!!😂🤣😭
The rest of the ACC and many college football fans throughout the nation call FSU the whiners and criers. And yet every time I turn on this channel and try to watch and listen that's exactly what I hear from these two guys. I'm done. These guys are trash just like this conference.
The ACC is DOA. Every team that wants a competitive program needs to run for the exits. The programs that want to keep this zombie conference alive only re-enforce their parasite status.
You're crazy if you think the acc is excited as Clemson has all of the contracts and found a weakness. If anything the acc wants this to go as long as possible to keep these teams hostage.
I am presuming that you are not from this country so I will try to explain it to you. A head coach works for the athletic director who works for the president. The decision to change conferences is the decision of the president, not someone who works for someone who works for the president. Understand?
Bobby Bowden wasn't afraid of playing anyone and this is coming from a Clemson person. I was around when he was building his program back in the day and he would play anyone, anywhere, at their place it did not matter.
After hearing this episode, it makes me feel like I could sue an employer bc I think I someone was paid more than me, based on white privilege. With me being FSU/Clemson and the white privileged person being Vanderbilt
Did you employer contractually promise to do everything to leverage tour skills and marketability and did everybody not to do so and then all of the sudden you realize that the money you make will not support where you live in 3 yrs when you are locked in for another 12 with your employer. Are you saying you would not be happy with their actions or lack of actions that have hurt u?
@SpecialK32 that was convoluted. I promise you, punctuation does have a purpose. Yeah, I was hired and paid as an individual contractor. And there were other ICs that got paid different amounts. That was the whole "Vandy is getting more money than me" part of it. And I was more talented than some of the people getting paid more than me. The "Vandy" in this hypothetical also was hired at the time with a better contract, which was partially due to timing, his upbringing, and affiliations. (That was the other part of my original grievance)
No they are not. More of their own alumni want to remain in the ACC, where they were the crown prince until FSU arrived and are now leaving, than want to get out. They value basketball more than football and want to remain in a basketball conference far more than a football conference where they would be a bottom feeder. The ACC holds a lot of value for the state and has more support than UNC. And more North Carolinians oppose UNC leaving than staying. Then when you add in the $250-300m to get out and that whole subject is DOA. UNC isn’t going anywhere. Period.
I agree more people at UNC favor hoops > football. But economics matters. Schools in the Big 10 or SEC can offer more $ to recruits and offer better facilities then those in the ACC. For example: Northwestern is spending $1b on a new football Stadium & Penn St $700m on a Beaver Stadium upgrade. The ACC cannot compete against that.

Smh. Miami beat Clemson last year and lost to FSU by 7 with the same freshman QB on the road. FSU won't even be in the the tile game. Don't sweat it.

The FSU hate is real lol

lol why not have the same energy for UNC as you did for FSU Keaton you had a big problem with FSU smh
Kenton is an NC State guy. He has ZERO love for UNC.
Kenton is an nc state fan so he hates us more than fsu
Kenton hating on the FSU all along UNC was scheming to leave. The irony 🤣
Kenton is an NC State guy. He has ZERO love for UNC.
All this hating on FSU and UNC was ready to blow it up long time ago

I just want to point out that UNC can’t file suit without the BOGs approval. Easier said than done.

What are these guys crying about, or are you just butt hurt because you don't agree with what they are saying?
Donni... the B10 doesn't have a buyout. The SECs buyout is approx 60M
Exactly there wouldn’t be shockwave because the other conferences didn’t put hard Stipulations to leave.
The ACC is DOA. Every team that wants a competitive program needs to run for the exits. The programs that want to keep this zombie conference alive only re-enforce their parasite status.
Ummm when will the Football of the 17 Teams get discussed like Offense, Defense, Special Teams, Coaching
After the ACC folds.
You're crazy if you think the acc is excited as Clemson has all of the contracts and found a weakness. If anything the acc wants this to go as long as possible to keep these teams hostage.
There are differences between the schools and conferences contracts.
Kenton ,UNC 4- LSU 3 in 10 innings go Heels
Sounds like ESPN will drop the ACC media deal. I think it will be cheap for schools to get out in 27, or 28.
😂😂😂 IRONCLAD 😂😂😂
FSU had their chance to be in the SEC years ago but Bobby Bowen wanted the easiest road to a championship
I am presuming that you are not from this country so I will try to explain it to you. A head coach works for the athletic director who works for the president. The decision to change conferences is the decision of the president, not someone who works for someone who works for the president. Understand?
🥱
Why are we still talking about something that happened more than 20 years ago? Give it up who cares.

No one, I mean nobody getting out the acc without pay. If they could fs would have been gone. There is no way out except paying your way out.

What happens if the SEC and big 10 do not want either team?
Dude take off that tin foil hat and stop glazing at other people it makes u look weird.
What is someone wins the lotto and doesn’t want the money? 😂😂😂
