- Roddy Frame - Oblivious. Recorded Live in London for the 'In The Round' or 'Songwriters Circle' series. Graham Gouldman of 10cc and Neil Finn of Crowded House also took part. Check out my other videos for the show.
2 of the greatest singer/songwriters of a generation watching a "wee" Scottish guy singing, both in awe of his greatness...
Aztec Camera opened for Elvis Costello in August, 1983 in my hometown of Madison, Wisconsin. The power went out for a stretch, and Roddy and the boys did an acoustic version of Oblivious. It was incredible.
Oblivious is one of the very best songs ever written. Takes me back to the wonderful 1980s. What a truly special time it was for music. Roddy Frame is an excellent and superbly talented guitarist.
Great times.
Absolutely brilliant. High Land, Hard Rain is one of my all time favorite collections.
If you ain't drooling you ain't alive!
Roddy Frame. Top songwriter. Top singer. Top, top guitarity. Clearly a top bloke, too.
Roddy is beautiful in presence and voice.
Let´s not forget he was 19 years old when he released this song.
And only 15 when he wrote it, FIFTEEN. 😳
@@DAW1968 it's a brilliant song. well crafted.
from what I remember, in the video wise they tried to make him into Boy George. Song is still cracks.
They both know the song. What a wonderful night that must have been, would have loved to see it. Such a good songwriter, guitarist, singer. And always smiling. Beautiful song, Roddy is fantastic
Being into the American blues/rock scene I really never heard of Roddy, I gotta tell ya, this guy kicks ass man! I would have loved to see this show live!
Absolutely brilliant, what a voice!
This band is so underrated
Actually a genuine example of underrated for once
Agreed! Very underrated
Agree… Super talented.
please stop with the tired, braindead "underrated" comments ... you Millennials are a parody of yourselves
what an original comment - did you think of it yourself?
Brilliant song writing. Wonderful vocal 💯💯💯💯
Roddy Frame - one of the all-time greats. Music sounds as fresh today as it did in the 1980s.
The 80s 💪
still had a great voice. those guys seem really nice and down to earth
You've got to love Roddy - he's amazing!
What talent was on display here: every aspect from the songwriting to the performances. Great to see artists who were so obviously enjoying themselves too.
saw these programmes first time on tv could do with repeats great classics
Wow... how could anyone not like this..? Boggles my mind....
It boggles your mind that not everyone in the world likes what you like? that's called narcissism and it's a mental health problem
Saw him in a tent at Belladrum festival 7 years ago whilst Travis headlined the main stage. Just him and his guitar, sublime
That's a Concord on stage jamming.
Love it x
Ahhhh 1983 such fun such fun
I remember watching this on the telly, not really being into Roddy Frame, watching really for Neil Finn... but fuck me this song blew me away and I think Roddy stole the show...:)
Me too. It was 1999 , I lived at 57 Hanger Ealing , it was broadcast as part of the Song Writers Circle of programmes on BBC2.
Opened for Elvis Costello 80s hollywood? I had never heard of them what an awesome opener to the master👍👍
Roddy’s singing, sigh, is a bit more swoony on this version. Kept wanting Graham and Neil to do the Ahh chorus like on the studio version from 83. Still, absolutely love this version and performance. Thx for posting
Roddy Frame - no other words needed ❤️ one of the best collabs 👍
Wonderful version of one of the greatest songs ever written. Roddy is a legend.
80s musician were and are true artists
rimmel65 👍
rimmel65 1983 chart music , simply the best. Great, great times with superb music .
Roddy is just SO good...but why didn't Neil and Graham do the "oooo, ahhhhhhh"'s?
Saw them in 1983 at night moves Glasgow. About 200 people 😁
Badass totally 80’s 👏awesome
Love, love, love this song!! FANTASTIC MAN!!
Talent that you don't find these days, but nevertheless brilliant.
ah man, he is so good. shivers.
Found this about a week ago..well Neil actually ( its deep that is Neil) so looked for rest of gig ,,RODDYS AND GRAHAMS bits ...and great stuff...now searching for other artists nights...
Just a great song.
Brilliant guitar work from Roddy here.
This song had a special place in my personal development as a young person. Ah. Thanks Roddy, well done.
Great pop song with a load of jazz chords.... pretty rare!
The chords in this song are awesome. This is definitely not a three-chord song.
Brilliant coming together of top talent
thank you, Roddy x
It has THAT MELODY,you know when you hear IT !!!!
Talented singer and guitarist
Roddy looks like he's having a great time!
Oh, how cute he is !
Gettin' cross-eyed trying to watch the chords. o_O Awesome performance! :)
Roddy is a prodigious virtuoso guitarist!! 🎶🎵
even though four years ago... he sounds as good now as he did in 82-83.
Guitar maestro
Ironically I'm from East Kilbride (two years below Roddy at school), lived near Te Awamutu and love both Aztec Camera and Finn Brother stuff.
Spoiled!!
love roddy
I love it. The man is a genius!!
he is so great. never misses a pitch
Awesome Acoustic Appearance
Wow look at that; 3 talented singer-songwriters performing their compositions on stage whilst the audience sit in respectful silence until the end, not a mobile phone in sight. What a time to be alive back then.
Also, I would rather watch a hundred episodes of this show than one of the interminable Later... but apparently we're too dumb to be allowed a treat like this these days.
Absolutely wonderful
This - is lovely
What a fecking, sweetheart!
He my one artist when I listen to his cds I change my favorite from song to song.
Wow!
Loved it, thanks!
OMG NEIL FINN too!! RF's voice is superb. HIGH LAND, HARD RAIN is an exceptionally good album. RF's guitar structures are sublime. I do prefer original version but not to compare, right!
Whats Roddy doing now? I love his music 😘

Like your style and chord progressions in arrangement. Nice on the ear too. Good melody.

Roddy reminds me of Paul Weller on that video!
my first gig
Steve Wozniak on guitar, purple shirt. Freakn sweet, bro!
If you disliked this you have no soul!
What year was this performance? Roddy's voice has hardly changed, this song brings me back to when I was in senior school, if only I could travel back to the 80s.
I used to have this on a 45...
I've still got it. Orchid Girl on the b-side!
wow
♥♥♥♥♥
@joon1014" The Aussy" from Crowded House is a KIWI!
Does anyone know what model Takamine Roddy is using here?
Is that the Aussy from crowded hours? Did not expect him to fancy Roddy's music
Where is he the noo?
ace
Sometimes Roody sounds like Split Enz and others like Culture Club
What year was this performance Keef ?
Anybody know if this is available as a DVD to purchase?
I tried to find it but the BBC don't seem to want to make any money
Great track from a top guitarist.the bloke can shred too but not a metal head
1998
What year was this?
This is amazing, but please sync the vocals with the video PLEASE.
@whitbyjet65 the scots never had an empire, for starters. i agree with you though, english should be allowed to be proud. it's just they aren't very good at it without turning all BNP
ACOUSTIC VERSION ?!
Z Z Z Z Z Z . . . . . . . .
I swear that’s lip sinked but I don’t think so.
