Raised in Michigan because my dad was not a good husband to my mom.
The work she found was here, but she kept our southern heritage in my blood.
Dad from Bama and mama from Kentucky where I was born.
All my explorations throughout my 58 yrs has been SOUTH.

I just discovered Upchurch in 2023. I’m a 50 yrs old female from East, TN. I resonate with Upchurch because he is authentic & relatable. The way he talks, his mannerisms, his lifestyle, the stuff he sings about, etc. are all reflections of a TN homegrown boy. I have a daughter his age & Ryan is just like the boys she grew up with, so I know he is true to himself!
Country stuff is what we do, it's not who we are. That's what mainstream doesn't get. Trucks, beer and bird dogs describe the outside but mama tried describes the inside.

It might be weird, but one thing that showed me what kind dude Church really. I can't was when he showed us his jewelry box. I can't remember the clown who started the comparison but what I do remember is that Ryan still had all the little things that his fans have given him over the years. What I remember is that what was once special to them had become special to him.
I don't know, maybe I'm just the overly sentimental type, but to me, that said loads about how down to Earth fuggin must really be.
