Watching this again in December of 2023, this is truly sad. How he talked about his love of his mom. And to see how his mom really is, and has done to him, and has stolen from him is horrible. God Bless Ryan for everything he has done for so many people. 🙏❤💙🇺🇸🦅💙❤🙏

My favorite line was when he said he writes for the folks going to work at 5 am, and the folks who are late on their car payment.. I hear him say things like that a lot. Like he may have a quarter of a million dollar car in his driveway but he still thinks about the Mama’s out here struggling to put a gallon of milk in the fridge for the kids. You can’t be more GENUINE than THAT. Period.

I love that you spoke about how close your family is. Like a colony. My fiance, he passed two years ago. But his family was like that. They feel closer to me than my own family. No matter what I do, they always love me and will help me more than my own family. 💜
Ryan is literally a legend. Ryan actually gives me hope that there are still genuine, honest and loyal people out there who support the people of America. Ryan is one in a million, he is special. We need more people like Ryan to stand up and be a voice that can be heard. Listening to his music or watching him on UA-cam gets me hyped up to make a change in my life for the better, do something good and be creative and to appreciate where I came from.

He wasn’t lying about caring. I’ve never shed a tear to a upchurch song but I did on this album. Hearing “Past the Stars” and actually finding a live picture of my late grandpa all in the same moment was something only God can explain. This just breaks my heart how Ryan is talkin about his family and how much love you can see in his eyes that he has for his family and to know the whole time they was stabbing him in the back and stealing from him. Then finding out that your mother was paying people to ruin you to ruin everything you've busted your ass to become, stealing everything that the man had and laundering it. Ryan is hands down the most genuine down to earth, raw, real dude and loves his roots i may never get to meet the man himself, but he is one hell of an inspiration to a guy here in Minnesota would love to shake his hand one day and tell him his music as been thru for me thru my personal dark days as well as rockin out with bonfires and beers with the boys. Truly proud of the path that he has blaze and the impact he has made all on his own.

I have lived in CHEATHAM COUNTY, TN all my life and partied and hung out up and down POND CREECK RD bunches back in my younger day's. I'm 16 years older than Ryan, but that doesn't matter one bit. Ryan, mom, grandparents and uncle's and some of Ryan's closes friends are some of the best people in the world. And when he talked about his Mom always believing in him really hit home and helped me today because that’s the mom I’ve always been for mine. When he said “ when we were broke because of all the foreign people that were coming over here and taking the work “ I felt that. I own a small time Georgia raised Painting business and it Gets hard when foreigners come over and steal your work. How’s a man supposed to make a living when people are bidding jobs dirt ass cheap. So cheap to where I can’t even compete and make a living off of it anymore. It’s not as bad as what it used to be for me but I still get problems like that every now and again.
My heart broke when he said that. I like his music (I only recently discovered it), but that statement of his sadly reveals the racism that seems to saturate that region and brain-washes folks at an early age. The truth is that "foreign people" are doing jobs that Americans won't do. We'd be in a world of hurt if we relied on Americans to take care of the back-breaking job of bending down in a field of lettuce in the blazing sun and picking our produce that feeds us, or the many other labor-intensive jobs. I grew up in eastern Kentucky, so I fully understand where Ryan has come from. But there is a way to produce amazing music with gritty, country roots and also stand out above the negative aspects of that "southern culture" that should go away to make a better world. One such example is Tyler Childers (his mom and I rode the school bus together that her dad drove).

Americans where doing all those jobs and more before immigrants came and began stealing them. This is organic and honest and hits you right in the feelers. I legit cried a tear. Hadnt really heard about Upchurch, he was just a name I recognized from my favorite playlist, one of his songs i really love, that I found accidentally.
Watching this made me really admire and respect him. We grew up in similar families and environments though thousands of miles apart.

The unbelievable parallels I have to this man’s story…. It’s totally insane. Ryan Upchurch, you are it man. You embody what the American Dream is supposed to be. That anyone can rise above their station and make a name for themselves, by themselves, as long as they are steadfast and willing to bust ass. Seriously, this guys is what a real man and role model looks like.
