I learn how to teach from you, you went straight to the uses. Might you do a follow-up video on the grammar behind "that" please? #1 demonstrative adjective #2 demonstrative pronoun that...might? (purpose/result clause?)
Thank you Ma'am, for your amazing videos. Please clear my doubt as to this sentence i read in a newspaper. It reads as.... Perhaps, the ruler himself also COULD NOT HAVE HAD SEEN the future valour, achievement and foresight of his own self. Please tell are those capitalised words grammatically correct? What the HAD is working as in this sentence? What does it mean? I am confused. I want to know how those two third forms of verb are used together in the sentence? shouldnt it have been written as Could Not Have Seen instead of Could Not Have Had Seen?
There was once a T.V. show in America about a New York lady who was vivacious, witty and independent....quite attractive too.. ..kinda like you Jade.. Who was she ? .................. Well.......she was.. 'That Girl'
Can I say it is good or that (is =full form) good! Maby this sentence: the song that (is playing) sounds great. It must be in passive voice, the song that (is being played) sounds great, or the song that you are playing sounds great.
Thanks for this video. It has given to me so much more confidence when I am speaking. In my particular case, I have been corrected for native speakers claiming that I am misusing the word THAT, which is why I started trying to find a lesson to understand what am I doing wrong. However, after seeing this lesson, I understood that for some people, in conversational speaking, using THAT is not correct, but now I can see why they think like that, and that it is grammatically correct to use it. THANK YOU SOOOOOOO MUUUUUUCH!!!!!! You have no idea how your explanation gave me back my confidence again. This is an amazing lesson!!!
i got it let me give an example: the pc that i gaming and studying has broken. (is my grammar right? if you see a mistake please tell me.) Loves from Turkey!💕
That was a perfect explanation. I love it! Nevertheless, I have a context where I don't know what to use 'that' or 'this' or maybe both options are right. I'm explaining that now: There is a question: What does the symbol stand for? Can I answer this question by using that, e.g.:That symbol stands for a resistor. (I would like to emphasize additional information as a context. The symbol for a resistor is illustrated on a piece of paper that I'm holding in my hands, so it's not far away.) Thank you :))
It seems to me "that" is used when a subject-verb clause is acting as a complement to the main transitive verb in a sentence. However, in that scenario, the word "that" is usually omitted from everyday speech. Please correct me if I am wrong.
I've subscribed this week. I like your videos! The examples you gave comparing writing vs conversation were veey useful. Could you do an entire video talking about that, maybe giving more examples? Thank you in advance!

You should definitely not use the word “didactic”. You could say “informative”, or “educational”. I’m a native speaker btw xd

about #2, why not "What's this?" instead of that? is it because that song and that outfit are farther from you?
jade it very nice to see you
You can also say "what's that?" when you mean to say that you didn't catch what they were saying and they should repeat themselves or speak up.
It's good to know that, the word that can be used in many situations. That's it., that's why I comment on it. That's cool., thank you for that 😉
