is it possible to bake the BBQ bevel normals for video game asset?
@@pixeldesireblnr i d not do it, use mid poly bevels instead
Love your vids and your no-bullshit attitude towards making art. im definitely adding these addons to my wishlist
Thank you for saying the quiet part out loud Ryu! I am so sick and tired of watching tutorials about advanced addons and some ignorant loser in the comments starts pissing and moaning that he does not have this tool and complaining that the one making the tutorial did not do it with native tools! There are plenty of videos out there about vanilla Blender, yet they want to waste their time complaining instead of investing in making their time with Blender better! For me it goes beyond just more value of my time, these tools offer some truly awesome features that make life so much more fun when modeling!
well some folks havent discovered the value of time yet.... it takes time
@@PonteRyuurui I think it`s not about someones misunderstanding of the value of time, may be point is - the people who are complaining on the usage of addons are just willing to go through the whole process of modelling manually, from the beginning to the end, in educational purposes, to be competent in modelling techniques used in
every single model which is shown on cover of every video. I think it is fair enough to spend more time when you studying, at least we are on educational channel, aren't we?
And then, when you became good in vanilla Blender, you might speed up the process with addons.
---That is the key!
Go slow, step by step, element by element.
Learn the basics, overall shape creation and detailing principles.
This is the proper, frustration free, way of studying.
I read this words from one of letters from Blenderbros subscription.
@@user-mg1utr1p That has nothing to do with addon workflow. I stared tiwth 5 addons day 1.
Im starting the grill, its time to eat!
I am gonna watch....
Bought immediately. There is nothing to think about. Thanks.
Thanks for the video. I bought the zen bundle a while back but never installed BBQ because I didn't see much value in it (for me personally). This video changed my mind.
Thank you so much this really helps a lot and saves a tons of time
time: the most important, non-renewable, sequence of existence on earth. tempus fugit. great vid Ryuu!!
Real talk my friend. Nicely put with regards to saving time and values.
"...or inches, if you're one of the unfortunate ones."
*cries in Imperial units*
Wow. This is great. I have ZenUV & Sets but was not aware of this. Cheers.
"One of the unfortunate ones" -deceased 🤣
Is there a way to bake the bevels into mesh maps or something. Would be nice as then we could skip making high poly
Good shit, Ryuu. I’ve been interested in learning how to use ZenBBQ since I heard you talking about it.
100 percent agree with your sentiment about time. In many ways it’s more valuable than money, since it can be a more scarce commodity in our busy lives. Addons not only save time, but the benefit of improving the modeling experience alone is worth it. Using Boxcutter and Hardops is so enjoyable vs traditional Boolean modeling in Blender that I don’t see myself NOT using addons in other parts of the modeling process.
Yes! Value what is truly valuable!
Love your jokes, man! Made me laugh xD Thank you!
Hi! You can also manually change the bevel weight on the selected edges. As another option.
of course you can, simply click on the size and drag your mouse to adjust
@@PonteRyuurui I meant item - edge data: bevel weight, not amount. Like for example the detail at 5:23. We select its edges and put it from 1.00 to 0.50, for example, and the other edges of the object remain with the old bevel.
Awesome video as always Ryuu!!! the damn addon is cheater than a coffee and a doughnut!
Brilliant!
I missed one point or did not understand is you just see the bavel effect in render right? so you can not export the baveled model ?
@Agape So, let's say i am gonna use the model in unreal engine i need two normal maps. First, the normal map which comes from texture and second normal map which comes from this baveled normal and then i need to combine the normal maps right?
Amen! 😉
Came here to watch a video on hard surface.
Left rethinking my own perception of time relative to money~
Isn't solidworks a better tool for hard surface?
the best time to shoot clay pigeons is just after the evening tea
@@PonteRyuurui You are amazing... seriously. My hero.
the only issue im finding with addons is once i have too many enabled i get more frequent crashes. i dont have a crazy nice computer but ive got a gtx1070 and an i5 7600k so its also not complete trash.
Some here, but with the free ones only, I don't have the cash to buy the good ones now. A few times Blender even crashed and closed completely. GTX 950M, i7 6th generation with 4 real cores and 8 virtual, 16 Gb or ram ddr4. And even so especially during the rendering time, my fan is spinning like an airplane engine, regardless of the fact that I use the external cooler with 4 ventilators.
Generally it crashes from doing something the addon doesn’t like
Great teacher, but also, great salesman, haha.
thats because i only sell what i believe in
😅 "...if you're one of the unfortunate ones"
If someone feels they dont need addons, think its a scam or something that can be done in vanilla they ve no value of time. I had a short discussion about this on a video with the author claiming mesh machine is a scam since you can do what mesh machine can with Vanilla blender.
lmao
Man, change the material, just as you now select a part of the mesh and put a certain bevel as the material, without much philosophy.... I believe that this addon also works like that, most likely.....
Add Ons all the way, because Some Vanilla Blender processes or workflows are Hella Cringe.
"and inches if you are one of the unfortunate ones" -- LMAO!!! As an American... I find this very very funny, since I'm one of the unfortunate ones that has to live with STUPID imperial units!! I ONLY EVER use mm and cm when modeling.... NEVER inches. When I was a professional drafter in another life (before computers) -- I was young and needed the work, we had to use inches... and I had this terrible calculator which was an imperial unit calculator... such a joke. Metric system is the only system to use... that said...American's aren't that bad!!
ya man, you guys should sue the gov for that lol
Ha, inches...the unfortunate one...
