Hi, I found something similar with machine tools I guess. If you activate the addon carver in Add-ons and you press CTRL + SHIF + x you can cut with a line, Circle or rectangle. However it can be used only from plane side, like top, bottom, left and right from what I can see. Can you compare this free add-on with the paid add-ons and show the difference in on video?

It's ridiculous how subd requires a lot of work. Thanks for great tutorial/exercise 👍👍👍

Love your videos!! They have answered so many questions, I came from Maya and Lightwave, which are definitely different ways of thinking, similar but different. Thanks again!

9:35 leave the ngon after first segment of the cut, it has the same topo after subd but stays down the middle.

There were two places on my New Focke Wulf 190 D9 that I couldn't get to hold edges for nothing so I just left sub d off and used shade auto smooth before testing in Phoenix RC simulator.
The insets on the nose for the exhaust and the canopy where it meets the fuselage. I tried mark sharp, bevel modifier set to 2 increments and .003 to .004 on the spacing with a mean bevel weight of 1.00 and I tried Mean crease which is usually does a pretty good job.
All of those have been very effective in the past but not this time.
Maybe I needed to load the plane up with control loops who knows man?

Thanks, always thought about combining this two workflows,
the organic sub-d forms with booleans;)

I am learning topology workflow. At first, I thought your mesh is a mess before you use quad remesher. Then “BOOM” I saw equally space quad in overall view. That’s lit. 🔥
I have to test the “Quad remesher” and its limit. It will save a lot of time if I combine my topology workflow knowledge and quad remesher. Thank you for this add-on tip. 😊

topo can be a mess if you dont need to animate it or vfx it

@@PonteRyuurui You are a talented artist but in the VFX workflow, you model with clean topology unless its a sketch concept. I did a coffee maker for a studio, it got sent back and I had to fix tris.

Hi, i have a question. Why after applying booleans you convert all your mesh into quads, if you can just add bevel with 2 segments and profile 1 on all sharp edges and don't care about n-gons on flat surface?

I'm a newbie in hard surface. I started with ngons/boolean workflow
and I'm starting to get slowly but steadily better at it.
I've been working and practice a lot.
But I still don't understand very well what good topology should be. This is my first time hearing that it's ok to have triangles in flat faces.
Good topology and to be able to make a wireframe ready for sub d is still kind of a mystery to me lol

    • @PonteRyuurui
      @PonteRyuurui  Рік тому +3

Thats not a true meaning of good topology, good topology is the one that fits the purpose of your model and gets the job done. ua-cam.com/video/K32w9kfVNkc/v-deo.html

      @@PonteRyuurui tks ✌️
I watched already and I totally agree with you. We don't need to have perfect quads or sub d everything. And I really enjoy working with booleans and ngons, especially with hardops/meshmachine. I've bought your Game Package course and it helped me a lot. Really great stuff tbh.
My problem, for now, is that I'm still not able to make everything quads or make a mesh ready for sub d in more intricated models even if I wanted to.
Or if it was required for any other reason. Like more organic stuff, or whatever (quad remesher doesn't hold on everything perfectly).
I know that, to become better, I should be able to understand booleans/ngons workflow and quads/sub d. To be able to choose between methods depending on the requirements.
That being said I enjoyed this video (I've already learned something new)
I've been watching MasterXeon and it's mesmerising to watch him make those meshes. Lol.
      Sorry for the long reply
Tks a lot for all of you that put so many good videos and tutorials out there, I'll keep moving on and try to learn what I can ✌️
