Hi Melissa, love your video it's very informative! I use the absorbic acid from TO and also the hyaluronic acidv serum from the TO in my routine. Which one should I use first? Big kiss from Paris!
Hello Christian, Applying serum before moisturizer is generally recommended as it allows the serum to penetrate the skin more effectively and deliver its active ingredients. Serums are usually formulated with smaller molecules and higher concentrations of active ingredients than moisturizers, which means they can be absorbed more deeply into the skin. If you apply moisturizer before serum, it can create a barrier on the surface of your skin, which can make it more difficult for the serum to penetrate effectively. However, applying serum before moisturizer should not weaken the serum's active ingredients as long as you allow each product to absorb fully before applying the next one.
Hi! your videos are so helpful. If i'm using the Ascorbic Acid 8% + Alpha Arbutin 2% daily, should I still use toner before I put it on? because using toner is already a part of my routine.
Personally, I just stick to water based toners and serums during the day and then the sticky more heavy serums for in the night time.....Moisturizers are more difficult... I personally stick to a simple moisturizer at night like the one from the ordinary regardless of winter or summer time just to seal all the ingredients... during the day just a sunscreen to seal everything....The more products you use , the more complicated it gets...... however, I do admit it is just so much fun to play with skin care!!!!🤣🤣
Hey Manuel :) Yes, I think that's what most people do anyway after figuring out what works the best for them. You don't want to bother too much about your AM routine. Since, if you use products that feel uncomfortable during the day, you either touch your face all the time or wash it off haha😂 So keep it simple but still related to your skin concerns and make sure that it feels comfortable. During your PM routine, it probably does not matter how it feels on the skin since you're going to bed anyway. Everyone gets excited when trying out new skincare products but after some time, you only reach for the products that you like :)
hello, after cleansing, i use ponds moisturizing face cream and face almond oil… should i apply the almond oil first or the ponds facial cream first? thanks!
Use plant oil first since it contains mineral oil. BUT there is no need to use the almond oil in that routine, as the ponds cream has everything you need to protect your dry skin.
@@MelissaVanDijkTheSkinDiet Okay thank you so much! Can you please recommend me some plant oils? Also, I wanted to ask… is it okay not to apply sunscreen on the days where I am inside all day and also can I skip it during winters when the sun is not out?
@@kindree5414 You already have a plant oil (almond oil) So you really do not need another one. The cream has everything you need! :) If you are inside and there is no sun hitting your face directly, you do not need sunscreen, but if you are outside on a cloudy day, you still need it because the clouds reflect sunlight. But it all depends on how "fussy" you are.
One doubt i apply niacinamide serum on damp skin now how should I apply my hyaluronic acid consisting moisturizer? Should I again damp my skin ??? Pls help
I assume you apply it to wet skin, as otherwise you wouldn't ask this. 😉 Damp skin refers to the state when the skin has absorbed some water while you washed it but has been dried off on the skin surface. To apply skincare products on damp skin, you can follow these steps: Wash your face with your favorite cleanser. Take a towel and gently pat all over to remove any excess droplets from the skin surface. Apply Niacinamide serum. Wait for 30 seconds to 1 minute in between, if needed. Apply the Hyaluronic Acid moisturizer. You can also watch the following video for a demonstration of applying products on damp skin: ua-cam.com/video/xNUUUr81rLE/v-deo.html

Another helpful video from Melissa I have a question: I was wondering once you have applied your skin care ( cleanser, toner, serums, oil, moisturiser spf) and it’s been absorbed into your skin, how soon after applying all those products are you okay to wash your face (for example after a workout) without it affecting the efficacy of those products ?
Hey :) That's a good question, haha.😂 Based on my experience there is no need to leave it on the skin for a whole day, and it still can be very effective :) So, you could rewash your face in 1 or 2 hours. I sometimes do this as well. Some videos take me some time to record (since I have to rerecord them many times 😆), I have to shower afterwards because I sweat so much 😞. And this is where I wash the products off. Which is usually after 2-3 hours after I have applied them and then after the shower, I either leave my skin alone and just add a moisturiser on top or repeat the skincare routine :)
hi melissa, i was wondering if i can do a normal skin routine (leaving on products like alpha arbutin or nicinamide) in the AM and then wear a mask for a long time (6/8 hours), because i don't know if the humidity it's bad for the pores or something....
You can do that, but depending on the products you are using it may get very sticky. Therefore it is essential that you do not use too much. But you need to test it and see what works best. I tend to break out when doing this, so I use Benzoyl Peroxide to "spot treat" the breakouts. Haven't found any other option yet 😞 But you may not come across such issues, but with the products, you really find the right balance for your skin and see what you can handle or like 🙂

hey nice video. I have a question. This weekend switched my skincare routine to the cerave hydrating to foam cleanser, cerave daily moisturizing lotion and the Paula's choice bha exfoliator. I'm also using the ordinary aha and bha peeling solution(for 3 weeks now). Now that I started using the paulas choice my forehead bumps got worse and I don't know what to do. Should I continue using it every day oder only every two days or am I'm overexfoliating my skin together with the ordinary peeling solution? I know that my skin first has to get used to the new products and it could be purging but I'm so scared that my acne will get worse.
Hello Nora, well, it increases cell turnover. Therefore they can pop up quicker. It can also be because the product is too strong. My husband uses it, and when he leaves it on the skin for a more extended period, it tends to break him out. What you can do and what works incredibly well for him is using it daily as a mask, so before he takes a shower (in the evening and/or morning) he uses it and leaves it on for 5-15 minutes, and after that, he rinses it off with water. This tends to work very well. 🙂 But generally speaking, it can be many things, and therefore you need to test it 🙂
