The short verb/delay trick is one of those great subtle ones you might never realize when starting out. Personally loved the sound of the short delay compared to the verb in this context
I use ott on my stock reverb to make it more interesting (im in ableton!) I usualy make a send with stock reverb, white noise errosion, ott, and some sidechain! makes it super crispy on the top end, and if its too crispy i just high shelf it!
Jake, you are the man! I spent two years in college to earn a degree in recording, but I've learned just as much from your tutorials, if not more. Thanks for everything!
This is REALLY the best tutorial on vocals I`ve EVER seen/heard. Thanks a lot!! That lifts me instantly to a level I`ve been searching for for a long time. Best man!
I think this tutorial is one of the best I've ever seen!!! Thank you very much for every detail and creative examples you did!! Super well done!! Thank you very much!!!
Thank you thank you thank you for this!! I've been working my way toward being more comfortable with my vocal mixing, and there's some fantastic information in this video. Also, I'm gonna hear this melody in my sleep now and I'm not even mad.
Thanks a lot! Could you make a video about creating depth or cohesion in the mix using reverb on other instruments such as drums, guitar, synths and etc.?
Thank you so much. I'm mixing a song right now and for the most part I use very little reverb or delay. Funny part is I use ssl native eqs for depth and I know this is the real way. I'm an emcee 1st, producer 2nd, engineer 3rd. It's the details that separate, so I appreciate.
If you create a Verb send let's say, then choose how much you send to the bus is it the same as sending it all the way and tweaking the bus Like you do on the video?
Sorry for such a late comment to this video, but Yes. I think he's just using the bus faders because it's a bit easier to see and demonstrate. Either way, my first question, like yours, was 'why isn't he just adjusting the send?', especially if you're gonna be using those reverb buses for more than one track/instrument/etc.
Hi there Rob, I'm with recording revolution at present and theres some free templates that I'm unable to find for the course you have there. Could you direct me to these templates please. Cant wait to dive into it lol.....thankyou
Thank you for this - as bands designated most tech savvy guy ( I know how to plug stuff in !!) I get the job of trying to make rehearsals sound as pro as possible - lots of ideas for me to try .. Have you done or are you considering doing anything with live vocals in mind ?
What are your favorite delay and reverb tips?

Definitely love the Throw Delay technique. Thank you again for sharing the process on how this is achieved.

(ive been sidechaining my verb to the kick all this time tho... i never though of sidechaining to the original vocal itself!)
To calculate decay time, divide 60000 by the BPM. Then either multiple or divide that by 2 to get the different lengths.

I was just on a reverb mixing binge and then this shows up. The stars have aligned, clearly.

You are a great educator, in your videos I always find new information, but also new inspiration and motivation. Thank you very much!
So we can use the same reverb plugin for the short and long decay ? I've just known it. the chain : Short rev - Delay - Long Rev - pingpong.
This is the best tutorial on this subject ever... (Addsd delay effect on "ever") and I have seen a lot of them! Thank you!

If you don’t have that Left to Right delay you can just pan the effect manually to left and right ?
Thank you thank you thank you for this!! I've been working my way toward being more comfortable with my vocal mixing, and there's some fantastic information in this video.

I tend to use automation on sends if I only want specific words or phrases to be processed. On a side note, this tutorial is quite comprehensive!
I am grateful to you for sharing amazing knowledge
You’re great educator. Thank you for this amazing video! It will help my mixing works 😁
Thanks, Jake, for all this information. It's going to be very, very helpful. Thanks, again for this wonderful video.
Great information. Are you mixing in headphones or on monitors? Thank you..
Awesome video! Very helpful. Can you also make a similar masterclass video for EQ or Compression? Thanks!!
Just the video I needed
Thanks man

Great video could you do something similar for other popular effects! Eg reverb, distortion, saturation etc?
Dude, your work is awesome

Sir personal lemme thank you because I've been struggling to make vocals sounding better like that
32:51 Sidechain
Whats the name of the artist and where can I find that song, thanks
BRAVO!
Cool Song btw
Nice, but I guess you should use a linear phase eq behind the delay especially if you use different delays and reverbs...
Before 😢😢 and after this video 😂😂😂thank you
How do you get the low filter (red band) on the logic eq to create that type of a slope/curve? Mine just gives me the normal low filter cutoff...
Once that EQ band is highlighted at very bottom look for the Queue to adjust the slope/curve. Hope that helps. Good luck 🤞🏾
@@GladysGrace001 it still doesnt give me that curve
I was trying to find the Repeater??
Are. You. Miiiine??? Super helpful video thank you
Is there a discord channel or something like that so we as a comunity can talk about music prodution?
The instrumental is fire💀💀
On my phone the more reverb the more it sinks into the mix , just sounds better
Great overview. The autotune on the vocal was a bit annoying but that was not your fault. Good job.
Is the song out in the world?
Subtlety is the key. :)
Comment for you
the vocals need some melodyne and pitch correction.
she sounds like a robot lol
