EDIT: 3:45 we wrote the wrong specs. Should be Snapdragon 845.
Meanwhile we generalized a bit about expandable storage so to clear things up the Poco HAS expandable storage while the OP6T does NOT
ALSO, after this review was complete, Google launched an update for the Pixel 3 that supposedly fixes some power & memory management issues we encountered. However, posts on the Google forums indicate it may cause problem with stability in some cases.

What are you guys putting on your phones where you need over 128gb? Especially since you have unlimited photo and video storage in Google photos for free. You can argue that you need the space for games, but do you really need more than 20-25 big games installed at once? Maybe I'm just old school (23 lmao)

Wrong specs at 3:44 mark. Pixel 3 is rocking the snapdragon 845, pixel 2 had the snapdragon 835
Also at 4:28 mark, the oneplus 6 and 6t does not have expandable storage but does start at 64gb for the 6 and 128gb for storage on the 6t and goes up to 256gb. The Pocophone does have expandable storage but starts at 64gb and works up to 128 or 256gb

Sorry. that was a typo. As for the mistake on 4:28, I missed seperating the pocophone and 6T with expandable storage. I was in RANT mode at the time haha

I had someone "outside the industry" talk to me about this phone, and the more and more reviews I see I agree with what he said. The Pixel is about the experience, making sure your hardware is in sync with software, and that camera. Reviews like this honestly show how out of touch some of youtube's mobile tech reviewers have become. to the general person that saw almost no performance difference between the SD820/821/835 or the A8/9/10, the 845 and 4GB of RAM is going to be more than enough. This phone is not for people that chase specs, and I'm glad. Google focused on making it amazing to *use*. Also, with the storage thing...your music is stored in the cloud, and your photos have the option to as well. How much more storage do you people need? Storage space is the *perfect* example of what I'm talking about. I had a 128GB iPhone 7 and didn't get close to using even half of the storage. What are you people carrying around in these phones that 64GB or even 128GB isn't enough? if you're really running into that limiter alot, you need to reevaluate what's on your phone. if you don't use it or look at it at least a couple times per year, put it in the cloud or on your computer. Be fair.

I am watching this on my 2015 first gen Pixel XL, while thinking of switching to a bigger, cheaper, more-battery-life, budget phone.
Once you tried bigger screen and longer battery life phones it's really hard to go back to the smaller (even with more PPI) and shorter battery life premium phones. However, the camera, stock Android, G logo, Pixel name etc are really addictive, and on the other hand, longer battery saves you from fear and makes everything easier, because you don't have to worry about charging when you go somewhere out of your daily routine and also I am not a power bank fan. I simply don't like them.
This is not easy for me... but I can feel that I am reaching out towards the budget phone further than ever...
Please build a better phone which has REAL all-day-long battery life Google.

64gb is enough for 90% of users, not all of us record in 4K! I use about 30gb. No idea why anyone needs 128gb?
Bugs, just had an update which has sorted RAM management.
I ignored all the reviews on UA-cam as I understand that they are all droids that base their opinions on the number of gimmicks, most of which the average users (non-UA-cam watchers) simply do not worry about. Could not be happier and my favourite phone of 2018 and I have used the Mate 20X and iPhone XS Max. It does the important stuff well.
Battery life is brilliant including standby time.
The notch is easily covered with Nacho Notch.
Would recommend it, obviously for some that care more about a tick box exercise of features we never use, then the Pixel will not be close to what they want, but for those wanting quality this is the best.

Wether people need 128gb or not, Google Pixel 3 have all sign of scam tactics on their behalf.
Why can OnePlus add 128gb memory and 6gb ram and charge less, (a whole lot less) than the Pixel 3?!
I've purchased 1 with my own money, and returned it happily after 10 days...
In short; The screen is terrible of all the olds, the mic is horrible, the ram just isn't enough, resulting in native apps as chrome and google maps crashing whilst listening to Spotify... it takes seconds to actually safe an screenshot, add to that saving your photos also takes time.
Being an photographer, I like to shoot without any HDR and whatnot and for that the Pixel 3 hardly isn't any better than any of the competition. The screen on time hardly gets to 5 hours... and that frosted glass on the back just got scratches all over the place... jeans are softer then keys but still.. not for the pixel 3 xl.
The last is the design... the notch is a thing, but how can they look at the phone and say; that looks stunning!" well I don't know... I learned quickly that they've just could raise the speaker grill up against the edge and reduce the notch, same goes for the chin... to accomodate stereo speakers they did the same thing on the bottom, instead if they bring it all the way up against the edge, the chin would be minimal...but that costs a bit more... same goes for the fingerprint scanner on the back like phones in 2016... but we're in 2018 and in a few weeks it's 2019... I don't want a phone from an manufacturer that cuts corners with hardware, but still raise the price.
The hardware components are mediocre at best... the display is more an request to purchase the cheapest old displays available to assemble the Pixel 3, not to mention the awful Microphone. An lacklustre design adds more suspicion that they cut corners and save money on production and tried to compensate all hardware shortage with software... If you fall for that trap by all means help yourself.

Why there are to many questions to be answered with this phone? Which? Why? Why is everone complaining? Damn you dont have to buy it :D! I have the XL and the iPhone X and had the Xs... the camera is by far the best on any phone! The Portrait mode blows me away every time! I could show a ton of photos where the most people are not able to tell the difference between them and photos taken by my Fuji XH1 at 2.0!
    This phone checks every boxes:
    - it´s lightweight
    - extreme fast (who cares about loading time in games anyway)
    - best camera to beat (esp nighttime shots and portrait mode)
    - good battery life
    - excellent screen (not the brightest thoug)
    - best AI
    - nice materials
    The only downsides are:
    - price
    - storage
    - dat notch (i dont care about anymore but it´s far away from being pretty :D)
    - apps close to fast (due to the RAM Management i think)
    - video recording is not the best on the market
So, now?! It has sooo many good things to offer and the best android software! Its easy to recommend... if youre willing to pay the price! Its a little to overpriced, but so its every phone these days!
And if people have problems to hear you while talking into the micrphone maybe you should swap your device and get a new one. My works flawlessly! Its like people complaining on amazon about a broken device and giving 1 star for a product which is not working properly! Google has simply messed up with pixel 3 and that 71000 rupees tag in our country is simply a no go when one plus 6t is available at literally half its price. Google can really give its competitors a run for its money but I don’t why they are pricing it so high when galaxy note 9 is available for Rs.10000 less. Great content as usual. You're right it's hard to reccomend! But, honestly if people have the money they should pull the trigger- it's not a poor persons phone by any stretch of the imagination. When you weigh the comparisons to the 6t, S9, blah blah blah. It has probably the 3 most important things a flagship phone can have in 2018: the software support, the camera, and a quick UX and intuitive UI. You get what you pay for and if you can't afford a pixel, then get something else, for the people that HAVE the choice it's a good one.

    • @blakewhitlow
      @blakewhitlow 6 років тому

hahaha 2 of those points don't even matter to the 6t. 1. the camera you don't realize that you can get the pixel 3 camera on the 6t. 2. oneplus phones come with 2 years of support for updates and sure google might get them first but the fact that oneplus were able to get a stable version of android 9.0 less than 2 months after pixel phones got it is REALLY impressive.

    • @Triptisim
      @Triptisim 6 років тому +2

blake whitlow hello 6t anime fanboy! Welcome. Typing that on your 6t, I bet!! Do you know anything about the difference between SOFTware and HARDware? Software is the thing you see on the screen, yes! The screen! And hardware- those are the resources utilizited by the software to make the phone function. Wow! Do you even know what UI and UX means WITHOUT googling it- nah you wouldn't admit to that.
      Smh...
Yes, you can flash or download the Pixel's camera software to almost any Android phone AND most of the features are indeed software features, but you fail to see (I'm assuming because "fanboy-ness") that Google optimized the software to work with the hardware on the pixel 3- so if people truly want the "pixels camera" then they will get the best results with a pixel since the 6t doesn't share the same HARDware resources that the pixel 3 does, what a concept! Obviously you're not keyed into having the absolute best photos possible out of your phone. Looks like "never-settle" is settling for something after all haha 😂😂😂
And how could I forget about software!! You're obviously not a developer or truly care about software updates- backing up the 6t like that because, wow! 2 years of updates?? No way. Android P 2 months later, WOW. Anyways- sarcasm aside, I'm sure you're enjoying your lightly skinned oxygenOS non-standard version of 9.0, that of course- doesn't come with the aforementioned "pixel camera" SOFTware you speak of. Again looks like "never-settle" is settling for later updates as well.
No hard feelings though, we're all entitled to our own opinions. I'm not trying to knock you because you clearly couldn't afford a pixel or mommy and daddy got you a 6t for your birthday. What my point is: if people want (and can actually afford) the best phone camera on the market, AND want the best Android expirence from a UI and UX standpoint taylored for Android phones by Google, then the pixel 3 is above and beyond the best option. That doesn't mean everyone should have a pixel 3 or XL, it just means that your statement "it doesn't apply to the 6t" is clearly not well thought through or you just lack understanding about the fundamentals of hardware and software integration.
I can't believe I'm wasting 5 minutes responding to comments haha. Good day, and I hope your 6t treats you well for the next "2 years"!!

@@Triptisim first of all idk what UI and UX means do I care NOPE :P secondly I used to own a nexus 6p so I was already getting 1 month or more delayed updates after the First pixel came out. If I really didn't care about updates I wouldve gotten a Samsung phone. Your point is kinda stupid given how low the pixel 2 and pixel 3 sales are cuz the mass market doesnt want the best cameras in phones anymore meanwhile oneplus continues to grow in sales.
I could've gotten a pixel but why would I want a phone with only 4 gigs of ram in 2018 lmao (plus it had lots of ram issues). Also the Op6t has a bigger battery and double the storage on the base model. My point is yes the pixel camera is the best but when I can just get Gcam app and most of the pixels camera features would be on my Op6t (comparison shots you can't really tell a huge difference anyway definitely not one that warrents an extra $ 250) including all these other benefits there is really no reason to get the pixel 3 and sales prove that.

    • @Triptisim
      @Triptisim 6 років тому +1

blake whitlow Ah yes, anime weeb back again to get reamed I see!! Calling my argument stupid? How mature, you must be 12 because clearly you still don't have a legitimate retort, nor must you have enough cash to buy a pixel, hence the fanboy-ness over your beloved 6t.
OOF. No idea what UI and UX are, AND don't care? Clearly you do not care about software nor are you educated enough to have a qualified opinion about it. It's not even worth discussing with you. Period.
And here's the deal, you're obviously a spec sheet warrior wanting to somehow prove that what you own is better than what everyone else has. You're cearly not mature enough to look at the higher level of WHY people buy phones in 2018 like we, developers and college educated people, do. Nobody cares the Pixel has 4 gigs of ram, nobody cares that it has less mAh blah blah blah. People buy a phone to have the "best camera", "best software expirence" and to get them through the day on a single charge. YOU may think that the specs matter but guess what? You're wrong- specs don't matter, you know that other company we ALL hate?? Yeah the one that starts with an "A", Apple? Why do people buy their phones when clearly they aren't the most "speced-out" phones in the world? Mmm let's see, because they have a battery that will get people through the day, they have pretty damn good cameras front and back, and guess what?? That UI and UX thing you aren't educated enough to understand, yeah, they nail it for their users. THAT is why people buy phones in 2018 not because "tehe my phone has x ram" or "oh no my battery isn't the biggest". Sucks to have to compare your phones specs to compensate for something else 😂😂
And AGAIN my argument isn't that EVERYONE should own a pixel!! Like I said originally- it's a hard phone to reccomend at the price point hence the sales data. But you still have not made a legitimate claim for why people who aren't poor, and don't rely on mommy and daddy to get them a new phone every "2 years"; for those people that actually have the choice to buy the phone- the decision to pull the trigger on a pixel would be a good one!!

the 3 most important thing for the average consumer is battery life, smooth UI and value for the money spent.
And in all those 3 things Google sucks at it...
Battery life is average or even below average compare to the other options
Smooth UI well even the "stock" android they can't get it right.
Value for Money, well if all the hardware is so cheap, and the software is buggy and the design is lacklustre and you have to wash your phone to get rid of the scratches... it's utter hopeless.
So many other phones have the proper hardware and that results that the user interface works well and smooth..
Today you can pay $400 up to $1100 for an phone, at $400 you get what you pay for plus a whole lot more, and at $1100 you get something that is solid and last you at least a few years and looks decent and feels premium.
And for the Pixel they want you to pay $900 for a basically a box of scrap..

One of the honest video ever. Mistakes happen, after all, we all are human. However, I am also a much of stock Android fan and for this reason, I am not considering any other phone which has their own UI running on it. I am already using Pixel 3 XL and I didn't find any issues (Microphone, RAM management etc) and it's been a month. Google has already released Dec security update and promised bug fixes with this update. Pixel 3 XL with Pixel stand makes device mini Google home hub. Great experience though. Especially the camera of the device.

I am a happy owner a Pixerl 1 XL. It is a fabulous smartphone. Battery can last more than 2 days with Android 9. As usual Google products will become better at every update. I now have night sight and AR camera. Battery is still very good after more than 2 years. Without hesitation, I recommend the Pixel 3 eventhough it is not perfect at day one. It will become better quickly.

Paul Matencio That is exactly what Google is aiming to do with its pixel lineup. Introduce them as solid, well performing phones that nail the basics; Software support, UI/UX, camera and performance and gradually penetrate the market as people warm up to it. The Nexus line was too fragmented, changed every year and lacked a theme. Google had to start all over again. The hardware, design, software required consistency and Google has begun well with the Pixel. Most, if not all reviews on UA-cam are superficial in their judgement of the phone and just add to the hate regarding the notch and initial bugs. The notch will probably be reduced by next year and gone within two- three years as the tech changes. It’s not the end of the world even if the pixel 3 has the worst notch of all phones. It won’t be long before the pixel 4 is out next year. This too shall pass.

I'm hoping to see if this actually rings true. I've used multiple Nexus and OnePlus phones, and now I'm hopping into Pixel. My sister went straight into Pixel after they disbanded the Nexus line and honestly, after using her phone a few times, I sometimes wished I did the same thing as opposed to hopping over to OnePlus. Although, I will say that OnePlus is an excellent phone line and I wish it got more exposure. I've had people with Galaxy phones be jealous of my OnePlus'. They then get stunned when I tell them how much they cost. But as soon as they find out that it's a brand they've never heard of, they lose interest as if it's not trustworthy or mainstream enough for them.

re: the issue with the amount of storage on the Pixel 3: While I 100% support giving phones more on-board storage, especially in the era of manufacturers locking out support for expandable storage, the Pixel 3 offers unlimited cloud-based storage of photos and videos at full quality for a minimum of 3 years which helps mitigate the storage issue, so I think that flaw of the phone can be forgiven at least a little. Otherwise good review. :)

The best thing about this phone is the software. It is the closest to a no-hands-needed phone. I find myself talking out commands far more often than using my fingers on the screen. Thanks for pointing out why my night pictures almost looked like day time. I've had Samsung for years. I've had this Pixel 3 for 6 weeks. I like it, mostly because it is not frustrating to use. Oh, you forgot the best feature. You can gently squeeze the phone and the voice assistant comes up. Just squeeze and say something the command. That is way cool. Thanks for your video review. I enjoyed it.

I switched to 64 gig Pixel 2XL from 128 gig version of One Plus 3T. At first I thought that I would miss the extra storage space, but with unlimited Google Photos space as soon as you have WiFi connectivity, everything is uploaded to the cloud. In my 6 months with the Pixel not once I did I run out of storage or had to transfer my pics or videos using a USB cable. Super convieniet and not a con in my opinion as far as Pixel phones are concerned.

Got it on Google's black friday sale. $200 CAD off, down to $800. There's no way I would've bought it otherwise.
Coming from a Nexus 5X (and Nexus 5 before that), I needed a new phone sooner than later anyways and was probably going to spend $500-600 anyways. Going to echo other people's thoughts, it's a very good phone but not worth the full MSRP. Definitely worth it at the lower price though.
*edit* As a comparison, the LG G7 One on the Android One program has slightly lower than last years flagship specs and costs $800 CAD. At $800 CAD ($600 USD), the Pixel 3 is the best stock Android experience.
