Pixel processes images locally, not on the cloud. You can put it in Airplane Mode and it will still process images just fine. That's the point of the Pixel Visual Core. The Snapdragon 845 can do it by itself too.
@@AlexSchwartzATV Pixel 2 and Pixel 3 (along with XL variants of both) take HDR+ photos (thanks to the Pixel Visual Core) in third party apps like Snapchat and Instagram. I use Snapchat pretty heavily and that alone is enough to make me pick the Pixel over any other Android device. Thanks for your great videos! I've been toggling between the Pixel 3 XL and the iPhone XS Max too! (Also have the Note 9...too laggy and too many gimmicky features.) If it weren't for Night Sight I'd probably leave the Pixel on my desk. Apple's ecosystem is hard to stay away from for me. Maybe if a Pixel Watch appeared, and a Pixel Slate or Pixelbook that actually had developer support...
You didn't mention Now Playing feature which stores the history of the songs played in the background even when the phone isn't connected to the internet. Coolest feature ever.
Do u know how to hook up two headphones sets the google pixel and Apple headphone? I have two phone one for personal the other for business the iPhone 8 Plus and max on a usb c Google headphone.
I hate the „Pixel is ugly” circlejerk. The OG Pixel was a beautiful device, I owned many Android flagships over the years and to this day this is the one that came the closest to the peak of smartphone design (iPhone 5S). It was beautiful, understated and looked better than the other 2016 flagships. I did not own the Pixel 2, but the XL is also in my top 3, with the OG and 5S. Yes, it was utilitarian and didn’t have the smallest bezels, but it used them super well. Especially the panda one when you could see the white sides contrasting with the black bezel. Beautiful. The smaller Pixel 3 is okay too. The XL is... Ugh, challenged. But saying Pixel phones were never beautiful is disingenous
Love Google phones for the clean software, camera and OS updates for 3 years. But at the end, the screen is the most important thing in a smartphone for me. That's where the Note 9 is much better. Not to forget base internal memory is 128 gb with 6 gb ram, has expandable sd card, Samsung Pay, S Pen for productivity, and more customization in the software experience. With the animations set to 0.5x the Note 9 flies keeping 25 apps in RAM. Plus the battery life is so much better. That is the performance I need when I pay a premium price. Plus the Note 9 128gb base variant is so much cheaper than the 64gb Pixel in India.
Nope, it’s actually outperformed by the XR which only has a single lens and destroyed by many duel camera phones. Google have withheld DxOMark scores deliberately as it’s actually performed worse than the pixel 2 due to not being able to record 60fps video.
People talk too much about the camera. What about the audio quality? What about the shitty battery life? What about the back glass that vibrates like crazy?
They updated the phone a few days ago ram is not a problem. Apps do not close anymore and they have adjusted a few other things also. Maybe should have put out a video after you updated.
I wish Android had apps to match Videoleap and Pixaloop!! PowerDirector is decent but ever time I use it, my sound doesn't match up with the video. I tried iPhone for a two year contract and couldn't wait to get back to Android but overall, the Pixel 3XL is a let down. I edit a lot of videos and the editing options aren't up to par. My Apple Music app doesn't tell me when people add my Playlists, nor does it tell who has already added them. I feel like it falls short in a lot of ways and that I should've probably got a Galaxy S9+
Honest and unbiased review, from a real user's perspective. Thanks for that. For me, this huge notch is a deal breaker, so I stick with my Pixel 2 XL (night vision feature: check).
I understand that the Pixel 3XL lacks on things like less performance in video recording in 4K and Slow Mo capabilities... but at the end it all comes to what you use the phone mostly for. In my case I use it for messaging (whatsapp and wechat), Social Media (Twitter, FB, and IG), writing emails, web browsing, and of course taking photos and since I am a photographer well this one is a winner... I believe the few percentage of the average smartphone user will really care about 4K video at 60fps and/or slow motion recording... the only thing I certainly complain is that if definitely if the 3XL lags behind in this points compared to other phone options it should be represented in lower price. Mistakes I believe Google made with this phone: 1- The notch even I dont care too much, it could be a little less deep I am sure even placing the speaker at the top and two cameras the could have done something to make it less deep. 2- Definitely put more RAM, at least 6Gb of RAM, it doesn't matter that Android Pie was developed to be married with the hardware in the Pixel 3, at the end in barely a couple of years after a few software updates most surely you will see some signs of lagging in the performance of the device. 3- They definitely should have placed another option for storage to 256G, even you can complement with Google Drive, most people want to have some content or data store on the phone, for several reasons like for example you are on the road or travelling in a place with poor mobile or network connection. 4- The design of the chin also could be at little smalled even accommodating the front firing speaker at the bottom. 5- just cherry picking, in the black version they could also have put an accent color in the power button as in the other options... maybe red, orange or yellow button accent. 6- They could have also used a second camera in the back with a wide angle lens... it could have being an excellent add on to really make it the king of photography.
Not a fan of Google's swipe gestures- came across a brilliant app (Fluid N G) that enables proper swipe gestures (you can customize multiple bottom and side swipe gestures and, this is the clincher- hide the menu buttons at the bottom bezel so you're getting true screen to edge use). Give it a go (you'll have to enable developer options and run an ADB to get its full use however).
Great review as always Daniel. Short, objective and factual. Lovely and keep it up. At one place you mentioned Note 8 regarding battery .. I believe you meant note 9...Faux Pas ignored. Note 8 is one of the lousiest batteries.

The reason behind the photos were not full processed is because of the gallery app "google photos". First hear me out I use Google photos everyday on my Honox 6x for backing up all of my photos. But the problem is that if you dont have a mobile data connection on the go then sometime you wanted to open a photo it would not load. However the photo is still in my storage of the phone
Not for me....had a Samsung Note 5 since 2015 (bought it the day it came out). What a superb reliable excellent phone. Today I wanted something new. Got a Pixel 3 XL....i find it sucks. I am returning it tomorrow to get the Note 9.
Don't know about the 3XL, but I can say that I'm enjoying my Pixel 3 quite a bit. I'm coming from a Samsung Note 8 and before that, always iPhones. I actually like the smaller size of the 3 and don't think I would have liked the giant notch and chin on the XL. Samsung does make a great display, and I appreciate that they don't have a notch and have thin bezels. The S-Pen isn't bad either. But I purchased my Note from a carrier and it had bloat from both Samsung and the carrier. None of that on the Pixel. 2 years of day 1 updates are nice, but let's not forget that iPhones get this and support is longer than 2 years. Also, iPhones have much better resale than Android. I'm trying to sell the Note 8 and it has proven to be much more difficult than when I've sold much older iPhones.
Snapchat acts really quite weird on it unfortunately. Have you noticed sometimes it will randomly stop processing pictures? Mine does this until I kill the app and reopen it.
@@feyandd I really hope Snapchat actually tries to fix the bugs. The quality is so good when it works but when it doesn't it sucks. Also they need to work on the lag. The Pixel 2 wasn't as bad as this, so I'm wondering if it's the 18.5:9 aspect ratio that's causing problems.

Edit: thats the big difference about Apple and other companies. Other companies include things more and more, and Apple gets away with not having those things in the box.
Well... A happy P2XL owner here!
Did you try out the zoom on phone, back camera 🤳 was it choppy and patchy after 2x zoom on back camera?
Have you ever review the oneplus 6t ? I was looking for a review from your channel but I don't see any
Thanks for your great videos!
How’s the Pixel now? Have you had any crashes? Any problems?
You didn't mention Now Playing feature which stores the history of the songs played in the background even when the phone isn't connected to the internet. Coolest feature ever.
Do u know how to hook up two headphones sets the google pixel and Apple headphone? I have two phone one for personal the other for business the iPhone 8 Plus and max on a usb c Google headphone.
How much hours of screenplay do you get in pixel 3 XL now
Is it brighter then the razer1? Plus bright screens are annoying 😒 especially when I'm in a car
I actually love the design of the 3xl... and the 2xl. I have a note 9 and I've converted it into a pixel 3xl (with no notch) and love it
I can't wait for the Google Pixel 4XL !! I switched to Apple but plan on retuening back to Android!
Why do you want to switch back? Just curious as to what you're missing. I'm always interesting in hearing peoples opinion on the subject.
Useful review!
Pixel 3 has the best camera on the market right now.
Hands down. Wish Apple did an update to get a similar feature like night sight on my XS :(
Nope, it’s actually outperformed by the XR which only has a single lens and destroyed by many duel camera phones.
Google have withheld DxOMark scores deliberately as it’s actually performed worse than the pixel 2 due to not being able to record 60fps video.
People talk too much about the camera. What about the audio quality? What about the shitty battery life? What about the back glass that vibrates like crazy?
@@myNEONCITY exactly
When it comes to pictures but recording is pretty bad compared with other options
They updated the phone a few days ago ram is not a problem. Apps do not close anymore and they have adjusted a few other things also. Maybe should have put out a video after you updated.
Get over the notch. Its nothing really. I have had the XL for 1 month now. Its not a big deal. You look at what your looking at, not the blank area.
And it's happy to see you
I wish Android had apps to match Videoleap and Pixaloop!!
Mistakes I believe Google made with this phone:
1- The notch even I dont care too much, it could be a little less deep I am sure even placing the speaker at the top and two cameras the could have done something to make it less deep.
So does the photos only store in the cloud on pixel phones or do u have to always move them over
They back up automatically if you have that turned on, but you still have to delete them off the device
@@conalldayton kinda annoying like I have a one plus 6t as most people know it doesn't have sd card storage Google needs to set it up so it can auto delete from your phone and back up to Google photos it would be so much easier
@@Ro6sTech yeah that would be a nice option
very detailed review...
great work btw..👍
I'd disagree with small parts of your opinion on the design of the 2 but not the 3 this is a great review btw great work
When are you going to review the Huawei Mate 20 pro?
I still have my pixel xl, it does the trick and at the moment there is no reason on earth to upgrade. Flagship phones received few upgrades in last 3 years :(
Right now it's $300 off at Verizon and at that price it's easily the best phone you can get.
Just picked one up because of the sale. At $300 off it's a steal.
$450 off at target . Plus you will get $300moff from Verizon
So I have the pixel 3 xl and i would have to agree with the brightness statement. I wish they could update this is a software update
What does the XL have over the regular pixel 3? 🤔
Screen size, nothing more
Battery
@@jaafaralhayki4494 no actually, tests have shown the Smaller pixel gets about 5-6 hours of screen on time and the XL only gets 4-5. My pixel 3 averages about 5:20 depending on use, and I'm a pretty heavy user, gaming, videos, swiping. And some music
Xl has higher screen resolution
Mars Nel what is the point of a having a buggy phone?
Finally till the end of the video ✌️...my choice is mate 20 pro..it's a good phone considering its price
In Samsung, there is a feature for tap to wake up when you activate always on display and double tap on home button. It works.
Nightsight is incredible. Too bad the call assistant feature does’nt work yet here in UK, which is one of the things I was looking forward to when I chose this Pixel3 XL.
Btw now if you have the q beta 3 then call screen is available everywhere
Everytime I connect to any Bluetooth speaker android auto opens, super annoying and I can't find a fix for this.
Any ideas?
Dude I liked this video, I don't know how he speaks so fluently without memorizing it. 🤩
In my opinion, you nailed this review perfectly! You pointed out all the pros and cons of the pixel 3 xl very well and I must say I use this phone as my phone of choice and I love it. I think it is one of the most underrated phones compared to the iPhone XS max and the note 9. People in the know, know how great this phone is. Great review!
It's on sale at Best Buy for $18.74 a month for 24 for months, at a total of $449.76. Amazing, now I'll get one.
Im using an iphone xs max right now and im planning on switching to a pixel 3 xl. July 2019. Is it still worth the go??
Did you?
@@AkronKid330 I bought the s10+ instead. Lol.
@@kogavlogs lol
Me encanta la review que hace :)
Does Pixel 3 XL have Astrophotography feature?
Biggest selling point for me is the design, software and day one updates
Didn't u recieve the December update?
Handsome reviewer
Instead of using the panorama mode you should use the photo sphere to take your panoramic pictures. It's definitely a lot better.
I am rocking the Pixel 3 XL so I obviously like the phone... but I think the Note9 is probably still a better overall phone.
I am happy with my xl2. I don't like glass back
I watch this video about Google Pixel 3 XL FULL REVIEW : The BEST Android Phone of 2018 ! This From ZONE of TECH
The memory issue was addressed with the December updated.
@3:57 did you say samsung made the screen? im confused lol
The only two complaints I have is the screen isn't bright enough
And it crashes or lags using snap chat
Snapchat acts really quite weird on it unfortunately. Have you noticed sometimes it will randomly stop processing pictures? Mine does this until I kill the app and reopen it.
@@myNEONCITY YESSS it is so annoying
@@feyandd I really hope Snapchat actually tries to fix the bugs. The quality is so good when it works but when it doesn't it sucks. Also they need to work on the lag. The Pixel 2 wasn't as bad as this, so I'm wondering if it's the 18.5:9 aspect ratio that's causing problems.
I have a note 9 and Snapchat usually lags or crashes so yeah.
omg thought this was just me. Snapchat is laggy or freezes and sometimes just doesn't work. it pisses me off because I use that app all the time.
I like the design of the pixel
Do u suggest pixel 3 or the xl?
