I am really interrested for long time review because right now I am a little bit skeptic about battery life (small 2800 MAh battery, power hungry Snapdragon 855, 90Hz display, face recognition + radar). If Google does not make some miraculous cutting edge power optimisation, Pixel 4 will not last even 1/2 day.
Awesome video. these phones are very similar. I would get the pixel 3. there are some features that don't seem needed in the pixel 4 lol. but great video !!
An ultrawide would have been cool, but I'd much rather have a telephoto if i had to only have one. I think they made the right call. I mean they very easily could have stuck with one lens again, so I'm not going to complain.
I love doing all the tech videos, especially unboxings. That's usually my initial reaction to everything: I'm super excited, so getting to unbox a new gadget, so it's so exciting!
I'm sure someone's already noted this, but the Pixel 4 is not going on sale in India because the Indian government wouldn't approve it with the 60 GHz Soli radar chip, as the millimeter wave band is reserved for military and government use in India.
Bezel for the win! But losing front facing speakers is not a good design choice. Assistent is much better with front facing speakers, so is gaming, UA-cam, etc.
Heavy Pixel 3 camera user here and also had a Pixel 1. Although removing the front-facing ultrawide really sucks, I'm not much into selfies so I only used it on rare occasions on my Pixel 3. There were occasions though that I wish I had a front-facing wide-angle - I sometimes had to flip my phone around and use the wide-angle and took shots blindly. So the 2x zoom was a really weird choice I thought at first but when thinking about it... the number of times that I zoomed-in to compose a shot on an object or subject at a long distance was more often than I initially thought. Since it's Google. I'm sure they have the metrics that let them know how people use certain features on their phones and the number of usages. I'm guessing those metrics have at least a small part in the decision-making process of adding, removing or modifying features on their phones.
Hello, can you still recommend pixel 3 in 2023? How's the camera? And also the battery? I'm looking for a second phone (cheap) for camera (photography) is Pixel 3 is still good?
If you're going to make a phone, there's 3 things that are an absolute must. Long battery life, great cameras, and reasonably priced. If you compromise any of those, go back to the drawing board.
I think the Pixel 4 took a better selfie in that shot. Reasons are, you and the house look larger and there's less visible sky. The HDR, with the immensely white sky was taking all the focus off of you and it clearly helped the programs algorithm a little as your coat was darker, your face didn't get glare from the sky but as a whole, having a smaller picture brought you into better focus and I think 90% of the time, for front camera use, it's going to be more practical to see your main subject better, like it or not. lol
I do a lot of "how far can i push this picture" with phones and ive truly enjoyed my Pixel 2 XL but other than the great still camera which i would love, the Pixel 4 itself has turned out pretty underwhelming, i like what the 3 advanced with and was really excited for the 4 but i cant honestly bring myself to buy the 4 XL. Looking forward to your long term review on this!
I have the pixel 3 and 4. Definitely prefer the pictures on the 3, the colors are richer and more beautiful. On the 4, the colors are probably more "real" and appear washed out and the phone screen and pictures have a slightly greenish hue to them. Some people may like this more real tone, but I no longer get the beautiful color pops on my pets pictures, they're just kinda washed out and normal. The portrait shots have even better blur, but again, the colors are too real and washed out, no color pop or contrast like before. Also, I notice more pixelating in the pics, which wasn't noticable on the pixel 3. The face unlocked is actually super fast, I don't even miss the finger scanner. (I bought the pixel 4 for $450 on Amazon, 'used' but it's literally brand new). I paid the same price for the pixel 3 when I first got it.
Excellent video!!! I especially loved having other UA-camrs pitch in on topics of discussion. This provided me a good backgrounder on what to expect on that product (which I will avoid).
The back of the 4 is so freaking ugly. I loved the smoother and improved design of the 3. Glass back, dual tone still implemented. I see no reason why I should upgrade from my beloved 2XL. I'd rather get the Pixel 3 than this awful Pixel 4 if my current phone hits the sack.
Hey Eber, don't know why but I am hearing a strange "robot-like" noise every time you speak in the last two videos. Is that just me? I was looking at Dimitri's videos and some older ones and I didn't hear anything. Did you change your mic recently? Change some settings in the UA-cam compression algorithm?
they actually removed the standard selfie cam on the pixel 4 - the selfie cam of the pixel 4 is slightly less wide angle than the one on the pixel 3, but sharper and better in image quality, so i don't mind only having that option, as i was using the wide angle one on the pixel 3 most of the time anyways
I've been a Pixel fan since the release of the 1st gen Pixel and upgraded every year but this year I don't bother getting the Pixel 4/XL because of the insanely high price tag vs what the current competition gives you. Besides this the Pixel phones of some inexplicable reason aren't sold in my country which makes it a hassle to get hold of one. This year I went for the OnePlus 7t which I think gives you a lot considering the value you get for a much lower price tag. My guess is that we will see big price drops on the Pixel 4 series similar to last year's series 3 since I don't think Google will manage to sell their phones as well as they hoped.
I'm ready to upgrade and KNEW I was getting a stock Android phone no matter what but wasn't sure which way to go but after watching THIS, I'm going for the Pixel 3!
I loved my 2XL two years ago. However, the charger no longer works and I can't connect Android auto in my car. My phone looks brand new and hasn't been abused at all. The batter doesn't last 3/4 of the day with light use. With all of that, I was ready to buy the pixel 4xl, but after seeing what they actually launched, I'm headed to One Plus....thanks for nothing Google. I was soo optimistic!
I don’t think anyone expected google to deliver anything fascinating. The usual bare minimum from google hoping brand recognition will play a big role.
We were at a restaurant once and there was one french fry left on the plate. We both went for it at the same time. I was technically first but he Russian hand chopped my hand and took the last one. Ever since then our relationship hasn't been the same.
As much as google dropped the ball this year (battery/removed wide angle selfie/etc) the lack of availability in India isn’t really their fault. The Indian government chooses to restrict what technology, in this case sonar, that is available for public and commercial use. That’s not Googles fault. Canada actually repealed it’s laws to allow this type of technology not too long ago
After watching this, I'm sticking with my Pixel 3 for sure! Best choice I've ever made in a phone ever. I've gone to the Galaxy 10 and I was so unhappy, I went back to the Pixel 3! What is the camera you are using for your vlog? Looks amazing
Still using Nexus 6 here. Running Lineage os ROM and after 5 years the phone is great. Too bad its time to upgrade. Google phones are fun to tinker with.
No ultrawide-angle rear camera, no wide-angle front camera, no fingerprint reader, flawed face unlock, no 4k video recording still. Google kind of flubbed this iteration of the Pixel. They get close to creating the perfect Android experience and somehow manage to drop the ball every year.
Google really should introduce a high end Pixel 4 with wide lenses better video recording and a bigger battery, to tell the truth, nowadays people sign up for a contract for a phone that is gonna stay with them for two years, few dollars more every month isn't a big deal, these compromises are puzzling really.
The fact that people can't figure out the black isn't matte due to last year's phone looking scratches just by your nail, absolutely looses me. Like do you not remember?
Why would you need 4K from the front facing camera? The front facing sensors aren't even good enough. By outputting 1080p from the camera, the Pixel 4 is basically just doing the de-noising for you
Google didn't not want to sell this in India. The government did not approve/certify the radar technology citing privacy and security concerns hence Google decided to skip it.
I only have over ear wireless headphones so when closing at work I can't wear them and end up just listening on my phone speakers despite not liking the quality lol
i do all the time around my house. dont really care about having a bluetooth speaker since if i need to play music that loudly i will use my tv instead. but i dont really have a listening scenario when i really need a full speaker. therefore the speaker setup on the 3xl does a great job for my needs

@@anthonyt425 You are correct!
where did you live? that's such a good price. it's around $450 in where i live, pixel 3 is actual a little cheaper lol.
@@HarryUnchained UK :D
it got discounted heavily here
I am really interrested for long time review because right now I am a little bit skeptic about battery life (small 2800 MAh battery, power hungry Snapdragon 855, 90Hz display, face recognition + radar). If Google does not make some miraculous cutting edge power optimisation, Pixel 4 will not last even 1/2 day.
Or make the phone a little thicker and add in 4000 MAh battery. I think most people wouldn't mind.
I can't wait for the Pixel 4a with a damn headphone jack.
Lol
Don't get your hopes up bro
@@TedThomasTT it likely will have it, that's part of its appeal and Google knows this.
At this point the Pixel 4a is, in my opinion, the most important phone in the lineup. The Flagships are underwhelming.
This phone basically is mkbhd's biggest pet peeve
Awesome video. these phones are very similar. I would get the pixel 3. there are some features that don't seem needed in the pixel 4 lol. but great video !!
Thanks for having me on guys! Video turned out great.
Watching on my pixel 3 now. Will stick with it.
No fingerprint reader is a dealbreaker for me. I prefer to cover the front facing camera in case I ever get hacked, etc.
The HDR, with the immensely white sky was taking all the focus off of you and it clearly helped the programs algorithm a little as your coat was darker, your face didn't get glare from the sky but as a whole, having a smaller picture brought you into better focus and I think 90% of the time, for front camera use, it's going to be more practical to see your main subject better, like it or not. lol
I really like your video style 👍. You gained a sub!

The front of the pixel 3 is a lot uglier than the back of the 4 and you look at the front more than the back.
@@Andrew-it7fb im talking about the regular 3, not the 3XL. The front is basically the same.
@@marcel844 oh, did the regular 3 not have a notch? I knew the 3a didn't.
I consistently get over 7 hours of screen on time on my 4XL. This battery nonsense is really getting out of hand.
I was soo optimistic!
i'm used to that forehead. i hardly notice it on my pixel 2 and well, no distracting display notch.
Not having two front cameras I'm perfectly fine with. As you showed, it's like maybe 3 degrees difference. Virtually no difference
Right. From what I can tell they went with an angle wider than the 3 standard, but less than the 3 ultrawide
I don’t think anyone expected google to deliver anything fascinating. The usual bare minimum from google hoping brand recognition will play a big role.
what does Matthew Moniz have with Dmitri?
We were at a restaurant once and there was one french fry left on the plate. We both went for it at the same time. I was technically first but he Russian hand chopped my hand and took the last one. Ever since then our relationship hasn't been the same.
@@MatthewMoniz lol! Didn't actually expect a reply for you, thanks (:
As much as google dropped the ball this year (battery/removed wide angle selfie/etc) the lack of availability in India isn’t really their fault. The Indian government chooses to restrict what technology, in this case sonar, that is available for public and commercial use. That’s not Googles fault. Canada actually repealed it’s laws to allow this type of technology not too long ago
No reason yet to upgrade from my Pixel 3a which i absolutely LOVE! Thanks for the vid!
Hi between google pixel 3A and google pixel 3 XL(not A) which will you suggest me most ?
After watching this, I'm sticking with my Pixel 3 for sure! Best choice I've ever made in a phone ever. I've gone to the Galaxy 10 and I was so unhappy, I went back to the Pixel 3! What is the camera you are using for your vlog? Looks amazing
10:55 I thought you can change the accent color in developer options in Android 10?
Still using Nexus 6 here. Running Lineage os ROM and after 5 years the phone is great. Too bad its time to upgrade. Google phones are fun to tinker with.
You might like the pixel experience rom. Android 10 =)
Did you block the mic or something on pixel 4? Cause the sound on video is kind of muffle
Does the pixel 4 bring back the notification light?
1:58 to punish MKBHD, that's why
The Pixel 4's Selfie Camera Is Already Pretty Wide I Dont Think I Would've Used It The Pixel 4's Camera Is Just Fine
It is not selling on India because the radar DOES NOT pass on their regulation because of the band that the signal uses.
The Pixel 3 XL's notch has been eating so much McDonalds it became this huge bezel on Pixel 4
Audio quality in video mode is better on the Pixel 3 for some reason.
The fact that people can't figure out the black isn't matte due to last year's phone looking scratches just by your nail, absolutely looses me. Like do you not remember?
Thinking about upgrading to Pixel 3 from 2. Skipping 4.
Thanks for the review. I'll probably hang on to my Pixel 2 for a little bit longer then.
Also, holy crap, a pay phone!
i am from india and few months back i purchase pixel 3 but now as some of the pixel 4 features are coming to 3 also i feel good buying it
Why would you need 4K from the front facing camera? The front facing sensors aren't even good enough. By outputting 1080p from the camera, the Pixel 4 is basically just doing the de-noising for you
Think it didn't come to India because the radar isn't allowed for consumer use, but they could have released a version without it I guess
Pixel 4 team f'd up big time. Telephoto over wide angle & Small battery for a 90 hz screen.
Very informative! Sticking to Pixel 3 for another year!!
Google didn't not want to sell this in India. The government did not approve/certify the radar technology citing privacy and security concerns hence Google decided to skip it.
This is a serious question: Who listens to music on their smartphone speakers?
People on busses, really loudly.
People at Google apparently. They can't afford those Mini speakers or prefer not to be recorded.
Me when I don’t have my headphone with me
I only have over ear wireless headphones so when closing at work I can't wear them and end up just listening on my phone speakers despite not liking the quality lol
i do all the time around my house. dont really care about having a bluetooth speaker since if i need to play music that loudly i will use my tv instead. but i dont really have a listening scenario when i really need a full speaker. therefore the speaker setup on the 3xl does a great job for my needs
Super disappointed in the removal of wide angle front facing camera and the finger print sensor. Like WTF Google!?
It's embarrassing to know my Motorola g7 plus can shoot 4k front camera and back, I installed the gacm app on it and the camera is amazing. I was looking forward to the pixel 4, but sadly i will be missing out on it this year.
No SD card expansion and horrible battery life really kills this phone for me as I was planning to upgrade my S8 to this.
Is it normal for the Pixel to have warmer color display then the Pixel 3?? My pixel 4's display looks yellowish than my old Pixel 3
Oxygen OS is too good. I'm waiting for Google Pixel to convince me. Till then I'll be sticking with OnePlus.
Are you kidding, the Pixel 3A is Epic !!! Does everything you wanted to do for under 400 bucks. I'm tired of hearing about people talking about glass. Don't you dummies know that glass breaks. My Pixel 3A doesn't even have a scratch on it . I've had mine since it launched. It has run flawlessly.
Google advertised the wide angle front facing camera for almost all of it's release and then they just remove it
Sir what model are your shades?
So basically, Go big or Go with what you have.
