Hi, l need help I study to use photoshop, illustrator and InDesign but to be a designer it's hard for me. I can't do anything about it l don't have creativity, any idea to do something. please what can I do, please help me.
Okay, aside from you where do i find other professional graphic designers works to be able to check put for all those principles as you said. Do You pls know some names of really good professionals??
1. Passion. 0:32 2. Learn Graphic Design Principles - Contrast, Balance, Hierarchy, Color, Typography and many more. (Research deep) 0:17 3. Learn the Software you’re going to be using - Know that you need Vector graphics SOMETIMES and Raster Image OTHER TIMES. 2:05 4. Deconstruct other Graphic Design Professionals Examples. How they’ve used indivitual principles. 2:52 Ask these following questions: 1) How they have used hierarchy 2) Has the designer use symmetrical or asymmetrical balance. 3) Has color been used to convey the intended message. 4) Is there contrast found in typography. (You will learn how these Principles Apply to the design and learn how to apply in your very own projects) 5. Start your project alone, or collabrate with other designers. Chat with them, talk to profesionals to hear about their experiences. 4:10
Summary 1. Passion: Analyse everything using design, observe fonts in our everyday surrounding 2. Know The Graphic Design principles: Principles like balancing, hierarchy, contrast, typography, hierarchy etc. Note, you don't have to master the principles before starting you can learn them as you. #Fact 3. The software: Whatever you like to use is fine for you as long as you are comfortable with it. 4. Look for other graphics designs, study and replicate the design. Observer thoroughly the hidden meaning in a design. 5. Work, Work, Work
I'm just starting out in graphic design, i see beautiful works and i wonder would i ever get to the place where i can produce something like this?.. Sometimes self doubt creeps in and i wonder if I'm creative enough to sustain a career in graphic design.. Any friendly advice would be helpful.. Thank you..
Yes there is a large element of creativity in graphic design. However, is can also be very methodical and corporate. There are rules and principles that make certain niches of design more of a science than an art. These fields of design might appeal to you more. However, as your skills grow you likely will find yourself becoming more creative too.
I follow 4th step most of time, it is not very fun copying examples but it is essential for mature like and me and most other mature video editors/graphic designers.
Just wanted to say thanks for linking to those fake briefs! I am trying to start out as a graphic designer and am trying to create some portfolio pieces (I have a multimedia degree and worked in print for a few years but due to my role and company approach the work was rarely creative). The fake briefs are an awesome resource and I hope I can use this to create some stellar portfolio pieces!
This is awesome. I'm leaving web design school bachelors. (I already have my associates and I know how to code for 10 years) and this was super helpful to find the briefing websites. Thank you so much!!! Enjoying your account!! ❤
I have been into photoshop since I was 12 (now, I'm 20). Recently, I promised myself that I would stop using pirated softwares because of religious reasons and I decided I would carry on with my passion for graphism but with what's free and available. I got into GIMP, krita, Inkscape, Ivinci express and so on... I kind of felt inadequate and lost, because not only these programs are greatly different than photoshop (and for GIMP, it's also unreasonably harder), but I realized that I have little flexibility, which is an important skill (not only in graphism, but in life overall). This is a challenge, but I hope I can bring up better results with getting out of my comfort zone. Thank you for this incredibly informative video, I have never really bothered to learn the basics of graphism through a course, and only learned them through practicing (I never watch tutorials unless I want a specific outcome I want to achieve), but this has incited my to watch or read about how professional graphic designers work instead of just doing things intuitively and what I think looks good.
this video iss so ammazning we can crearlly see that you are very generous in giving people knowledge and teaching them the video is a very high quality one and all the designs and graphics brought to it makes it even greater
Thanks Satori (Is Satori your Name ) this will help a lot ; bcos we know tools and learn thru vdos but design is a concept based thing and yes Confidence is very important ; Thanks for the wonderful explanation
THANKS! I have been wondering what has to be done, and now that I know of all that and have a degree, I hope to use my skills SOONER than I have been! =)
My queston is: Can a person become a graphic design through youtube and self-learning? Is passion and discipline enough or is required always a school degree?
Hi Anida. I happen to teach graphic design in college (I'm a tenured professor). I truly don't believe that a design degree is required to succeed as a graphic designer. So many AMAZING designers in history and currently are self-taught (like George Bokhua). A degree will give you many things, but not all of them will directly be about graphic design. Think about this another way: Will a degree in creative writing make you a writer? No! Only you can become a writer by writing consistently! Passion, discipline, AND A GOOD PLAN will get you to your goal. Finally, Satori is 100% correct: The only way to become an effective designer is to first master the rules of design, which can be learned. Good luck.
My dad and i was just talking about me being a graphic designer earlier today. Now this video pops up in my recommended, i think my phone is watching me and can hear me. GUYS HELP PLEASE MY PHONE IS HAUNTED
Hey, I just tried the link but it says the coupon has already been applied. They probably have a cap on how many people can use it. Thank you for your work, I started my journey to teach myself Graphic design in 2019 and this channel has been my biggest asset as a self-taught designer. Please don’t get tired of creating this content it’s changing lives
Thank you this amazing video. Paused multiple times to admire the valuable tips. Also huge thanks to the editor for this wonderful and creative editing you deserve a raise 😁
Thank you so much for the Video, you just got yourself another subscriber. May I ask what application you used to created this Video? I really envy it and I want know how to make a video just like yours.
Can we appreciate the level of marketing research? He targeted creatives so well, he made the thumbnail so relatable by putting a cartoon homeless guy on it.
You've probably answered it in another video at some point, but what's the font you use in this and many other thumbnails or a free alternative. It's very nice.
Is there a decent alternative to skip drawing vectors with a mouse or a finger on a laptop pad when you want to create a logo or an object in Graphic Design? Eg. Draw a logo or an object and then with one or few clicks you turn that into vector graphics?
Well, you don't necessarily need to freehand anything. In illustrator there is a tool called the curvature tool and with it you create points that all connect to create a shape. Or you can use the shape tools in conjunction with other tools such as the shape builder tool to unite/remove sections. Look at tutorials online! I'd recommend practicing by tracing over an image using the curvature tool.
i studied graphic design in college and i used to really enjoy it but the last semesters and after graduating i kinda lost the passion and i dont know what to do actually i'm really lost
I feel like I know the principles and know what it takes to be a good graphic designer but once i try to apply what i know I get stuck being creative or stuck just in general, if that makes sense. Any advice?
I know what you mean yes. I would suggest looking at your graphic design process, how much research do you do? Do you look at the target market properly, the client, their industry and all that? How do you generate ideas, do you use keywords and mind maps?
So helpful. Thanks. Your confidence in your career is inspiring. I mean if you make the best designs in the world but you don't have confidence, you fail.
