In Chicago, we make a Jibarito sandwich where the plantains are the bread. It's a Puerto Rican dish and it is delish!!

We are finally enjoying some good sunshine in London but tomorrow rain no change London has had some serious rain since 2021 plushalestone earlier this year seen the ist time living in London over 40 years stay bless keep safe
The flatter they are, the crispier.
This is how I do.
It’s the gloves & accent for meeeeeee 👍🏽💪🏼
Beautiful l have never seen this way b4 thanks l also noticed in Jamaica they do the same with ripe plantain but it must be firm not soft
I'm going to try this.... Never ate those before but seem healthy than so much meat. Great job chef😘
Never bought plantain at the green skin stage. Always bought it yellow skin
They looked so good in the pan, fresh and soft!
Lol after they are pressed💗 and refried
You know ah nuh suh granny used to mek di plantain dem. She used to crush dem inna di pot while dem still ah fry.
I saw them made and it was crushed in the pot while it still frying with the bottom of a cup
I definitely want to try this recipe. How long did you cook the plantains on each side the 1st time you put them in? Before you smashed them?
Nice one!
Wow very nice 👍🏿
What does soaking the plantain in the water do?
Instead of having the actual salt grain on it you soak it in the salt water taste great
Question are they hard like the store bought tostones? My original teeth can't handle them.
is green plantain and green bananas the same thing ?
No
No
@Amanda R: No. I asked the same thing in the supermarket. Both are in the Banana family and both contain fiber. The darker and browner they are, the sweeter they become. However, there is a slight difference. Bananas are sugary and plantains are starchy. Bananas are considered fruits eaten as desserts and are put in baked goods. Plantains are considered a vegetable for culinary purposes and are mainly for meals/side dish. Green bananas are easier to peel and are your yellow bananas before they ripen. Green/Yellow Plantains are bigger and have a thicker skin which you have to peel with a knife. Both can be eaten at any time. Hope this explanation helps. :)
Will the receipt be ruined is I replace the green plantain with green bananas ?
You don't say 😩
