Absolutely, we were saddened to hear of mechanical problems recently, but preserving this vessel and keeping both staff and the public safe are of utmost importance. I happily support the PSPS now and feel lucky to have had such a wonderful cruise. Thank you for your comment.

Thanks! You too! Sadly the audio was a little too noisy - it sounded like we were actually in a washing machine!!

I remember this vessel well when she plied between Hull and New Holland Lincolnshire. With its shallow draft, it was ideal for dodging the ever changing mudflats in the Humber estuary. It was not unknown for the vessel to run aground on a falling tide in which case passengers retired to the bar to kill time until the tide turned and the vessel was afloat again. Watching the reciprocating pistons working to a rythmic sound was magical. Thank goodness she has been saved. 😂❤

Thank you for such wonderful memories - We do like the idea of 'retiring to the bar' when grounded! Amazingly the Waverley has little more draft than our own boat!

@@lovelifeloveboat Ah, but do you have a flat bottom?

Ah I do, but my boat doesn't - Personally, I find paddle steamers quite remarkable and their workload at Dunkirk is so easily overlooked!

Waverley has never sailed the Humber.

Excellent video. 👍 I remember watching the pilot board as Waverley was passing Tilbury that day!

Thank you - it really was a great day and a good few weeks for Waverley on the Thames!

I seem to remember the Waverly sailing the North Wales coast line and through the Menai Straits in the sixties. But I could be wrong?

I believe the Waverley itinerary nowadays takes it all around the UK and Ireland, and Wales also! I am not sure if it would have done in the 60's unless it was going to be used for excursions as it wasn't sold into preservation until 70's I believe, however, I may be wrong! It is always worth looking up the Paddle Steamer Preservation Society - They are on FB and UA-cam as the @PSPSScottishBranch and are extremely friendly and helpful - and would be really keen to also hear your story! Thank you for watching and commenting and have a peep at their website waverleyexcursions.co.uk/ as they have some great trips available for this year still and I can highly recommend a trip for a good value day out aboard a piece of living history!

hello, is this a one off trip or is it a current tour schedule ? very interesting journey esp going on the thames into central london. was it a return trip or do you have to make your own way back from london ? thanks for sharing.

Hi, this was a set of one-off excursions and there was a return coach offered, however, most would maybe use this as part of a larger journey. tickets are reasonably priced per person and I think Waverley Excursions, the charity's operating company are planning on offering similar 'return travel' excursions again this year. As yet the final schedule hasn't been fully publicised but their website is waverleyexcursions.co.uk/
