The look on your faces....priceless. That's our Willie. He's been doing this for decades. Poor Trigger has been through the mill but Willie still gets a great sound out of him. Y'all just missed it. Willie has a different cadence to his singing. Everybody wants to do a duet with Willie. Welcome to the world of Willie Nelson.

Nelson's guitar "Trigger " is a Martin N-20 Classical guitar with Nylon Strings. Willie plays guitar using a pick without a pick guard and has worn a hole in the top due to constant play. Trigger is easily the most recognized sounding guitar in the USA. The guitar itself has quite a history. It has survived a fire and theft. It was also hidden from the IRS during Willie's Tax Troubles. Martin Guitar has offer Willie free replacements, but Willie is more than fond of Trigger. Willie has a Luthier work to keep Trigger playable after most performances. Yes, Willie is a great guitar player. All genre

I'm thrilled you guys finally listened to this song. I've been requesting it for a long time. I can't believe Dustin didn't comment on the harmonica in this song. Willie and Trigger brought down the house. Now you need to listen to Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground! It's my favorite Willie Nelson song. Other great Willie songs ate Blue Eyes Crying in the Rain and My Heros Have Always Been Cowboys.

Willie was one of the most in demand session guitarists before he had his own thing going, his picking skills are superb. On the vocals, he is a jazz vocalist singing country. All his phrasing is pure jazz.

Always slightly in awe over SRV playing those 13 gauge strings lol. BTW there are a couple videos on YT of Stevie playing acoustic. One of them on a 12 string. Might be worth a listen off camera for you. Just search Stevie Ray plays acoustic. Willie, Merle, Hank Jr and Waylon were all really good pickers.

Willie was a session musician. He was a successful songwriter and got signed on the strength of that, but didn't become a "major recording artist" until his album "Redheaded Stranger" (his 18th) and particularly the single off of the album, "Blue Eyes Crying In The rain". I always thought that was ironic, since Willie had written so many hit tunes himself and that one was an old Fred Rose song, first released in 1947, sung by Roy Acuff.

This is the first time I've hit your channel. This was a great introduction to it. There's another ACL from the same era where he played the entire "Red Headed Stranger" album, and that one is a stone classic. Watch those two and you'll start to understand the genius of his songwriting and just how good that band was. You can thank me later. BTW, I subscribed just now. Good work, guys. Note that he's not just playing acoustic but he's on nylon strings to boot.
*edit* As you listen to Willie, pay attention to his timing, how his vocals play with the beat. He's a master of singing just behind or ahead of the rhythm, a very jazz like improv is in his music quite often. The old man can rock out too, when the spirit moves him. Willie Nelson is a national treasure, bless him.

I’m gonna request Willie Nelson “Angel Flying Too Close To The Ground” to give you a different perspective of him. And Willie’s guitar’s name is Trigger. Also, keep an eye out and see if you catch the hole in Trigger, right above the bridge.

I honestly feel like the two of you would absolutely love Willie's repertoire. As such, I'm going to recommend you check out his song "Angel Flying Too Close to the Ground". In fact, I recommend checking out his version, and then checking out his son Lukas' cover. Because you can tell whose son he is, though there's still enough unique aspects to his voice and playing style that it's not an exact copy.

Willie will grow on you, and he writes songs about everything. He's been doing it a long time and many people have made the tunes big hits. His guitar skills are apparent when he plays Trigger, but that old friend of his wouldn't take the playing he did in this review.

I have seen Willie live twice. I was in Nashville in 2001 at some dive bar/restaurant that had a live band and all of a sudden I hear a familiar voice and look up and it was Willie. ABSOLUTELY AMAZING!!!! Second time I saw him was in concert in 2004 @ The Tabernacle in Atlanta that used to be an old church now a concert venue but on the floor area there are no seats it’s standing only and the earlier you get there the closer to the stage you get and I was pretty darn early lol I have never smoked any weed but I imagine I got a second hand high in that place because everybody else was smoking 😂😂. This was when his sister was still with the band and playing piano. He for his age was very energetic and every so often he’d take off his bandanna and throw it out in the audience put a new one on then do it again. My favorite Willie songs are “ The Last Thing I Needed the First Thing This Morning “ and Willie’s cover of “Always on My Mind”

Lol his song with Snoop dog, 'Roll me up and smoke me when I die" speaks for itself. Angel flying too close to the ground is one of my favorites by him too. The man has talent.
