Marty should mention that if you live in Australia and actually want to drive on the road ANY forward facing driving light MUST be wired into the high beam switch AND have a secondary switch.

Funny story, i've a 1984 range rover, it's a beat up dog of a car. It's not the best off-roader, it's not the worst, it's just adequate, certainly, with good tires, i can't complain. I got it back in 06 with not one, not two, but three light kits installed (bar and two spots under the front bumper). They never worked. I never bothered to repair them, never bothered to take them off either. That's my TED talk, i think that you don't need lights, and that a good pair of headlights is more than adequate, luckily, my RR has two per side. I can see, everything. 2 cents.
Those little lights are actually really good, got a Getz with rubbish headlights and some friends that live out bush, put those little things on and it's a WORLD of difference. They're not full on "it's daytime now" but so easy with a licensed plate bracket and not too expensive.
As someone who builds highly capable and well spec’d Landrover Defenders here in the UK I have probably learnt more from you two than I have from anyone I work with….you really are the Messiahs of all things off road 👌🏻🙌🏻
Real overlanding is like Aussie hiking, you're expected to be gone off-grid for a long time and the "trail" is expected to be extremely easy. Whereas "offroading" tends to be more day trips with difficult trails.
You guys have such good friend-chemistry..."frienmistry"??? I like how you don't bash on each other but build each other up--it's addicting and I love the mechanics too. KEEP IT UP!!
The little Jimny is so popular and for a good reason. They perform really well off road in standard trim but can easily be modified to tackle most tracks.
Just got recommended this video and it's awesome to find some guys who love Ryobi as much as I do. 😆 I only have Ryobi tools and a few Milwaukee in my garage, inexpensive and haven't let me down yet.🤞
The best part about having MASSIVE off-road lights is when you're driving down the road and some distracted driver is driving toward you and forgets that they have their high beams on you can fire up all 14 zillion candela to provide a subtle message. Thanks for the video!
I think it is great that you guys are getting into other areas of motor vehicles. Just so you know, anyone who knows 4x4's, knows that the Zooks are a very capable vehicle off-road! Cheers.
Here in northern Scandinavia light kits and lately LED bars are very common due to the long and dark winters. A very good upgrade, especially in the rural areas.
You should have mounted the front LED's an inch back, so the are inside the boundries of the bullbar. When you drive in bushes you want the bullbar to push the branches instead of the lights. I realy like what you are doing to this car! Keep it up
Great job Fellas I bought a brand new soft top Holden Drover (a rebadged Suzuki Sierra) with a massive 1.3 back in the 80s with a dealer installed bull bar and massive GE driving lights but no winch. It was such a brilliant little car I’ve been a fan of these little Suzukis ever since. 😂🤣😂 Just so you know living in the Gong and having a love of the bush my little beast saw more dirt than tar.

Bad stuff like your shot engine happens to us all. Seeing you in action dealing with the problem is the best thing that has happened to this channel for a long time. Its a pitty you missed out on recording putting the new better engine in. And no, just looking at previous episodes does not capture the state of mind and comments that you had when installing the second engine. I can just imagine the cheers at first start..... 😁
Accidental as it may be, you did right with the smaller lights on the bullbar. Here's why: 1) big lights block radiators, many times those big lights are simply a quick way to overheating. 2) winching - the smaller lights work excellent was 'work lights' for winch - if you're pulling some backwards, with big lights all they see is one, large bollesk of light, with work lights it illuminates the work space without blinding participants and 3) those huge lights are for driving at high speeds in dark spaces - they illuminate a mile in front of you... so high mount is key for range....... good job! being lucky is the same as being good.
Was playing the other day, and started thinking, "When are we going to get the MCM crossover with Forza Horizons?" Marty and Moog would be great hosts in that game, can even provide the music.
Its like we went back in time and its so refreshing not that i dont like their other stuff. But its awesome watching then learn again especialy for those of us that have switched platforms knows how it feels when you go back to almost square 1
Individual lights, so oldschool! It's all about light bars now so the unintentional change was fortuitous. A proper light bar though is a long single low profile thing, well worth it though.
We call off roading, off roading. Overlanding is with camping living gear and not a full off road rig most the time. Overlanding is mostly for ppl who bring all their shit with them.
Overlanding is driving off-road/on trails for multiple days and typically involves camping in/on your vehicle, where off-roading could be just an afternoon or single day activity. Hiking is walking in the wilderness (usually implies a primitive trail or no trail at all), typically in the hills and could be for any amount of time.
It goes to show how spoiled us Freedom boys are with our massive engines. In most countries, a 2.0L 4 cylinder is a relatively large engine, but here it's often the standard or base model engine in a lot of compact cars. And yet we still aren't satisfied. I hope that wrecker got their comeuppance for selling you an obviously garbage engine and giving you the run-around.
Came from the NFSU and NFSU2 era as a Teen, LOVED the Fast and Furious first few installments, and have forever had a love for the JDM & Commodore Scene. Lowering, Big Rims, Exhaust & Sound Systems and just about everything the MCM boys have ever covered. Now at age 30, I was M00g 3 years ago, trading my VZ Calais in for a RA 3.0 T/D Rodeo, and haven't looked back. As stated in the 4x4 Christmas special, it IS a different kind of fun; just slow down and enjoy the scenery! If I want loud noise, speed, low to the road fun cornering, I'll take out my 5 speed '91 CS Seca Liftback, complete with sound system & w0g cannon. But I've now owned a handful of 4WDs/4x4s and I'll never ever look back, nothing quite like getting off road & out into nature. 4x4 Culture is brilliant overall, unfortunately however, unlike anything; there will always be a small handful of idiots, that ruin it for the rest. At the end of the day, I hope You MCM Boys get out in Your 4x4s over this Christmas Summer break and have some really fun trips/camping sessions. It's just SO brilliant to see Moog SO keen on the 4x4 culture, continually claiming Mighty Car Mods is now a 4x4 Channel LOL! Keep up the good work boys! Stay safe, have a brilliant Christmas Season and all the very best for 2022!
i dont go mudding but i love driving in the snow with my 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Quad cab 4x4. love my 10 ply Thunderer Trac Grip Mud tires. slightly less miles per gallon and slightly more road noise than the All Terrains i had previously.
FYI in Aus for a legality reasons spot lights and light bars need to be on the high beam circuit and also have a seperate on/off switch. They can only be under operation when the high beams are in use. Unless it’s like a hunting/roof mounted light which is supposed to have a light blocking cover when not in use.
People are getting into 4x4'ing because they have a bunch of disposable income to use on pretending they're tougher than they are. It's tosh that 4x4'ing is about 'getting away from it all', since no 4x4er will go bush without their drone, GoPro's, phone, laptop, etc etc. There are also heaps of utes cruising the suburbs in absolute mint condition, adorned with every possible ARB mod including mud tyres; none of which has ever seen a dirt road let alone the bush. It is 'sex spec' for the 2020's. The difference between then and now, is that the 4x4 utes are bloody huge and struggle to fit in any underground parking lot. The truth is that a 2WD corolla from 1989 will make it to the camp site just fine, the rest is just marketing, sold to you on the dream of getting your fully decked out ute bogged with a broken winch line and snapped CV axle up a remote track.
You guys should put those big round lights up on the luggage rack. In my experience with those kinds of lights, you really want them up high because they tend to cast shadows when they're set lower on the vehicle. Up top it will have a better chance of lighting up the proper amount of road.
After I bought my 2003 mini I got a invite on my window for a group here in maui Hawaii. Its having shifting issues atm but will get it working again. Some cars your just gotta keep. And even if its a small 1.6. I still out corner them with smile on face up the hill to work.
I need to "route all life support to engines" to get a little extra from my little 3 cylinder Mirage. I love these little cars. So much fun to just throw around and not worry about flying off the road to my death!
Just a couple of tips on the winch. 1. Don’t expect too much from it as it’s tiny and seems to have a shoelace for a rope. 2.attach the hook to the top of the bull bars BEFORE you get stuck as digging your winch hook out of the ground before commencing recovery is a painfully slow way to get to the point where you realise your winch is too small. 3. Get rid of the toy winch for a twin motor warn 8274 at least.
Loving the 4wd episodes, but I do have one question about your choice of driving lights. Why not opt for a bar light mounted to hang off the tube bar on top of the bullbar? If you have it hang below the tube then it still runs in line with your headlights and wouldn’t be illegal, and still give you full access to the clutch for the winch, all while giving you much more light spread than the two small LED lights.

You boys are a crack up, wasting the internet in the best way 😂
You two gents are of outstanding character and i admire your work and respect. Cheers
This 4wd shit you guys got going is amazing and I’m here for it.
Was just driving to an appointment about 30 minutes ago and brought a smile to my face seeing another dude rocking some chopped stickers on his ride!
So blind the guy who are approaching you at a combined 200 kph in the oncoming lane?
This is great!
Overlanding here in the states is basically camping and off roading combined. Usually rigs have roof tents or someway to sleep in it.
Watching from Sweden. Love the videos, keep it up :)
I think it is great that you guys are getting into other areas of motor vehicles. Just so you know, anyone who knows 4x4's, knows that the Zooks are a very capable vehicle off-road! Cheers.
Never clicked a notification this fast. Best way to start the day
It’s about 1pm so good morning
Best way to end the day as well
Best way to end the day
Here in northern Scandinavia light kits and lately LED bars are very common due to the long and dark winters. A very good upgrade, especially in the rural areas.
kinda rude of Marty to keep interrupting the 4WD-expert explaining why mudtires are better, smh
Best 4wheel drive channel there is!!! KEEP IT UP. ITS GREAT!!!! Can't wait to see what's next for the 4x4s and the next camping trip.
I want Moog to read a description for a chinese ebay part like he is explaining why he got it :')
You should have mounted the front LED's an inch back, so the are inside the boundries of the bullbar.
When you drive in bushes you want the bullbar to push the branches instead of the lights.
I realy like what you are doing to this car!
Keep it up
With modifications completed on both the off-roaders does this mean another off-roading Christmas special? 👀
The best 4wd content on the Internet, tell us all your 4wding wisdom the internet needs it
The banter here is A1. Cannot be faked or replicated. These guys are awesome. MCM FTW
Where's the mountain bike gone?
Got reminded about it when you guys were chatting about "digital saturation", also be cool to see you guys hit some trails on some MTBs
Given the local price for second hand MTBs, especially Santa Cruz bikes, it's probably been sold for more than the next three projects cost.
@@PaddyQuiggin haha yeah probably bud, was it a Santa Cruz? I could never tell what it was and over in the UK MTB prices have jumped up, components are double the price as well, seems like C*V*D-19 Tax takes place internationally lol
@@aceminer26 yep, even has the same name.
We need a DankPods crossover episode!
"Big wet boggy slick", I tink we've all had that issue at some stage of our lives
In my area of Canada, we call going off road "offroading" or "wheeling" (or "mudding" if you are specifically going out to rip through mud holes).
Surely there has to be a collab with 4wd 24/7 👌🏼
Surely hope not 🤢
@@RyanYoxo What wrong with 4wd 24/7
Marko Antonijevic two different channels. Ones a big advertisement and this ones about building cool cars...
@@RyanYoxo I guess but they still have some alright 4 wheel driving in their 1 hour ads
Marko Antonijevic a 2021 Isuzu d max?
Individual lights, so oldschool! It's all about light bars now so the unintentional change was fortuitous. A proper light bar though is a long single low profile thing, well worth it though.
We call off roading, off roading. Overlanding is with camping living gear and not a full off road rig most the time. Overlanding is mostly for ppl who bring all their shit with them.
Overlanding is like hiking to your camp site in a car.
@@patsun1084 if by hiking you mean walking on a groomed easy trail
Everyone knows you need a v10 minimum to tow your jetski once a year.
@@0xsergy need at least a Cummins to put two mountain bikes in the bed.
When you finally get this thing tied together you gotta hit the tracks with the whale and graeme
i dont go mudding but i love driving in the snow with my 2019 Ram 1500 Classic Quad cab 4x4. love my 10 ply Thunderer Trac Grip Mud tires. slightly less miles per gallon and slightly more road noise than the All Terrains i had previously.
I love you both for actively trolling poser 4x4 drivers LMFAO
Exactly
You guys should put those big round lights up on the luggage rack. In my experience with those kinds of lights, you really want them up high because they tend to cast shadows when they're set lower on the vehicle. Up top it will have a better chance of lighting up the proper amount of road.
Literally stopped watching 4wd 24/7 for this.
Loving the jimny ! Real throwback to my own 1988 SJ413, thanks!
“A car is the key to adventure” well spoken. I always saw a car as personal freedom, Free to go whereever you want.
After I bought my 2003 mini I got a invite on my window for a group here in maui Hawaii. Its having shifting issues atm but will get it working again. Some cars your just gotta keep. And even if its a small 1.6. I still out corner them with smile on face up the hill to work.
Guys I have to say it, you're legitimately my favourite off road channel right now!
Love all your videos… keep it up
The banter between you two is great.. can tell you guys are really good friends
7:24 "they're not hear to listen to us talk shit" that is the main reason I'm here.
You guys should place this Jimney up against all your other offroad vehicle- greatest offroad channel on UA-cam
You guys are obviously the most professional 4x4 builders on the web
Loving the 4wd episodes, but I do have one question about your choice of driving lights. Why not opt for a bar light mounted to hang off the tube bar on top of the bullbar? If you have it hang below the tube then it still runs in line with your headlights and wouldn’t be illegal, and still give you full access to the clutch for the winch, all while giving you much more light spread than the two small LED lights.
I think the reason for not doing that is they bought two big spot lights instead...
