I have a ARF strega with Stalker .61 and 13x6 prop.. feels very heavy , and pull my lines a lot (70ft lines) .. I wanted to work on it, rounding the LE , but I was so disappointed in how I flew that I had no motivation to work on it. Watching this video, I think I'm going to give it a second chance. Thanks !
If you haven't rounded the leading edge yet, that is a must. It makes it a whole new airplane. Round that sharp edge off as much as you can just don't sand the sheeting. Its simple to do and an easy repair with monokote if your Strega is in stock covering. Afterwards fly it and see how it is. If you need a little more pop in the corners yet, add some tail weight. Also my Strega pulls harder than any other stunt plane I've flown. If it pulls very hard in level flight but loses line tension in the maneuvers try sliding the leadouts ahead about 1/4" at a time. Then try figure 8's up high and see what it feels like, you'll know when you've gone to far as you'll see inward yawing, then back them up 1/8". My Strega also liked a lot of tip weight. I have 2 3/4oz of tip weight. The outboard wing would always pop up weather in inverted or right side up due to any wind or wake turbulence. Adding wing tip weight will also increase the pull however. I fly on 64' lines power is a ST60. I have since changed to a 12x7 three bladed carbon fiber prop and it improved the flying characteristics a lot over a 2 blade wood prop. But they are $50 a pop and take a while to get as I order them custom made from a guy in Poland. But for the best off the shelf prop that worked pretty well, try a 13x6 APC Sport prop.
I have a Randy Smith ST60 in my Tsunami and absolutely love it! It just chugs along in a 4 cycle with out a care in the world. Always starts 1st flip. Compared to the high rpm low pitched prop engines that always sound like their in a hurry to go somewhere. 😂
I have a Strega on my board right now, scratch built. Picked up the plans from Brodak. I’d love to know if there are any additional plans for Windy that we could pick up to build. I really like that I could see your hand blips on the corners both inside and out. I’ve been scolded to use the arm up/down and not blip the handle. I out fly those guys!
I don't know if there are any additional plans that Windy made or not. This Strega was originally and ARC, I have actually gotten it flying even better now than it was in this video, I find trimming/experimenting never ends. As far as hand movements I like a peppy quick turning airplane compared to a more of a nose heavy feel where you have to yank it through the maneuvers. I made the throws on the controls as much as possible with as little of movement of the controls as possible. I had flown a couple other box stock ARF Stregas and they seemed sluggish, mine is much more sensitive and will bang a 90 degree corner with a quick pop of the wrist, Arm movement is fine for training in my opinion but when you start really getting into maneuvers you need a plane that can perform using quick decisive control inputs.
Over on the Brodak web site if you haven't found them yet, they have 3 sets of plans from Windy. Miss Ashley, Spitfire and the 92 Cardinal. I have all 3 sets. Was going to scratch build the Strega but then came a across a deal on a new kit on eBay so now i have that as well. Planning a ST V60 for it.
+Jan Novak Yeah sanding by hand is how I did mine 100 grit to get the most done, 220 grit to clean it up nice at the end. Round off as much as possible without going through the LE block and sheeting. If you start to see the seam of the sheeting stop and just run a little "thin" CA glue on the exposed seam and it will be fine.
Nice! Is this the ARF, ARC or did you built? How heavy? Seems the ST 60 is on its limit. If you can get an Enya 61CX, you will like it sooo much more. Lighter, much Smoother and a LOT stronger, capable of turning Bolly 13x4.5 3B in 4-2-4 with great speed control. I sure miss my Strega/Enya 61CX
Well this is my second Strega. It began its life as an ARF. I stripped it down to bare wood. Made several changes and additions and recovered in MonoKote. Wings and Stab are pretty much back to stock scheme but I changed the fuse scheme to simulate the real Strega more and had custom decals made. I believe it weighs about 67 oz. We have about eight ST 60's and we love them, we are turning 14 x 6 props and 13 x 7 props and when we fly at altitude we even have run a 13 x 8 prop. We use a venturi from the Bull Ring ST 46 and a tongue muffler. Our ST 60's are putting out more power then several guys that fly in our club that run the Ro-Jett and Double Star 60's on pipes....and ours sound way better too. I did have the motor set just a tad lean but just to show you my dad flys a Stiletto that was custom built to 770 sq. inch wing and we still fly it on a box stock ST 60 with 14 x 6 prop...They have gobs of power! here is link to my dads Stiletto video. +Jan Novak No, that is very bad. I took mine and rounded it off as much as I could. I assembled my first Strega with a sharp LE and it was a terrible flying airplane. After I rounded it off it was much better. A sharp LE makes the plane stall in maneuvers and hunt for a center line in level flight. There are some good tips about other issues with the Strega like weak belly pan and badly designed control horn mounting in the flaps that can be found at Stunthangar.com in the forums.

That was my sport many years ago.!!!!!!!!!!I like.

Entre 18.50 et 21 ,50 maxi
Buti to the core
hi.pleas used engine in this Strega ?
+Jan Novak Super Tigre 60
Scratch built or kit?
ARC Almost Ready to Cover kit
needs more power it seems slugish
Not at all, It flies great. Cant get much more power than a V case Super Tigre 60 anyway for a plane of this size.
thanks very much i used to use 50 ft lines but would like to have tried the longer ones
Non l'acro F2 B V.C.C
.la carburation et en double régime une pointe grasse l'avion doit faire un tour en 5 secondes 5 à 6 secondes
