I had NO expectations for this film... A Wonka prequel seemed like such a cheap idea, but I was completely blown away by almost everything, especially the music. This reprise was a nice cherry on top of a genuinely great movie. You can feel the love and passion the creators had for the source material, and it shows. 10/10 would be in a world of pure imagination again.
Something quite interesting about this version is that it has two parts that convey something different, the first is an emotional part that for me conveys that Willie is letting go, not only of Noodle but also of his mother after having done what he had to do, and the second is a more lively part and that has certain playful and sarcastic touches, which for me shows a character evolution, who goes from being an idealistic and innocent dreamer, to an idealistic dreamer but who begins to have a greater range when it comes to facing things.
This movie was WAY better than it had any business being. It is a wonderful, happy, silly, light, enjoyable family movie. Chalamet makes a perfect young Wonka. The songs are great, the acting is great and the story is great. I was simply blown away at how much I enjoyed it.

The original version of this quote goes all the way back to Shakespeare: "So shines a good deed in a naughty world" -- Funny how great ideas come back around. Kinda like how great characters like Wonka (himself) come back around too.

I loved the way Wonka looked at Noodle when she was starting to walk towards her mother, then when she looked back at him he smiled, happy for her. I loved that part, it was a beautiful detail to Wonka’s kind, caring personality. Wonka and Timothée are both such good people with good hearts. Timothée did a good job as his own version of Willy Wonka, so as Gene Wilder (I didn’t watch his movie yet…..) and Johnny Depp’s version of the fictional character. I wish I could taste what Wonka’s chocolate taste one day, I was literally craving chocolate after watching it 3 times- Anywayyyyyyy I love Timothée’s movies and so as this one, this one is amazing and so as his singing!! I hope that he gets what he wants and stars in good movies, keep going Timothée!

@@justineves3588 yessss! Like I want to watch it again now haha. We went to go to our local theatre the next day to watch it again last Friday and they pulled it 😱😭
What I found amazing was how Wonka instantaneously created his chocolate factory in the castle using his pure imagination. An imagination so powerful that the Oompah Lumpah was completely caught up into it. That with the song this last scene truly remarkable and yet totally convincible! Bravo to the actors and producers of this film. This is a film I will see time and time again. 🤗
This version sounds like the words of a man who is hopeful for the future. The 1971 sounds like the words of a man who can't believe he actually achieved said future.
I am proud to admit that I actually cried during this scene. The nostalgia and giddiness of seeing my childhood and lifelong dream come true right before my eyes was something I had been longing for since I first saw the original. I have to admit... when I heard about there being a prequel to my all time favorite movie being made, my expectations were... not all that high. I mean why mess why the perfection that was.. well, already perfect? But when I went to watch the movie, I was surprised by how well written and the attention to all the details they included. I had ignored all the articles and press about the movie, so imagine my surprise to find it a musical of all things. Now, I know that the first movies had musical numbers in them, but I still wasn't expecting it to be a sibling to them!!! All in all, I am very happy and proud by how well the movie came out.
I have this song in my head for hours even days again and again Just shows how catchy the song is!! Make us all think we are Willy Wonka As he says: We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams!
Absolutely a masterpiece that ending when they showed the castle transform into the 1970s set Willy Wonka's Gene Wilder's Factory I just lost it I broke into tears thank you Hollywood for finally doing this franchise Justice❤❤❤❤
My favorite part about this song is that it really feels like 2 different songs stuck together. It's slow and melodic when Wonka is watching Noodle reconnect with her mother. He's reconnecting with this own Mother through her. And then it switches to a bright and upbeat song as he gets excited about the factory and his own ideas start to run wild through his head. I can't think of a better way to end this wonderful movie.
The way the audio pops at 2:44, when the song picks up, is done remarkably well! This was one of the absolute best parts of the movie. It almost makes me want them to do a sequel, being the traditional Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, with another follow up sequel being Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator. Going into this movie I didn’t think I’d say it, but after finishing it I can confidently say that I wouldn’t mind seeing more of Chalamet’s Wonka. I don’t really think it’s in the cards anyway, but they’ve captured something special with this film, and with it comes great potential!
It’s better if the sequel was a Great Glass Elevator Adaptation because we already know the traditional Charlie and the Chocolate Factory Story. For the opening credits not only I want to see flashback drawings of Wonka I also want to see drawings of the story we all know, you know Wonka invites five lucky people in his factory, Charlie finds the last golden ticket, the four rotten kids meet their demises and Charlie winning the grand prize and being selected as Wonka’s heir.
The chap who made it has definitely expressed a wish to do at least one more film, as there are about 25 years between this one and the original. Lots of time to fill ❤
I think they should make one more with Chalamet to fill in what may have happened between this one and Wilder’s. Lots of time to fill, and what’s the journey between this Wonka and the more edgy, slightly sinister Wilder Wonka? Some interesting things could happen. Haven’t read the books, so I don’t know.
@@TheRealFrandudenah they should give it an original sequel to continue young willy's adventures and ofcourse I wanna see more of timothee as wonka he nails the role
My mother and I saw this in theaters and the moment this part came up she started crying as she thought about her childhood when she first saw Willy Wonka.
I honestly loved this rendition of “Pure Imagination.” This version has a tone of young hope and ambition, looking ahead to the bright future ahead, while Gene Wilder’s rendition is of a man who’s ready to retire, somberly looking back at his past and his legacy. I loved the parallel between the two versions.
There is no doubt in my mind that if Gene Wilder were alive today, he would have been proud of what they accomplished. It’s not just a film but a love story to the tale of Willy Wonka and a tribute to the great Gene Wilder
When this started to play, I knew they were gunning for the grand, magical and satisfying ending I had in my mind. Happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed.
Went into this movie with the lowest expectations after the Johnny Depp disaster…I really did not expect to love it as much as I did! Absolutely fantastic, it really did the 1971 movie justice! A wonderfully whimsical origin story that NO ONE asked for…and yet, we are all now extremely grateful to have.
Like some of you, I kinda scoffed when this was announced. Had thoughts of "Hollywood is running out of ideas" which is a reasonable thought to have in some circumstances, but this blew me away when I sat down in the theater to see it. There is so much purity, humanity, and big-heartedness in this film. The writers etc cared deeply about the source material while also telling a fun and colorful original story. And Timothee was simply brilliant as Willy Wonka. Maybe he doesn't have the edge that Gene had, but he's got all of the heart and he's so wholesome and easy to root for. This might go down as one of my favorite movies of all time. I've seen it in the theater 3 times and am planning to go a 4th time this week. I need to enter a world of pure imagination one more time before the physical release
The way I saw it was that this is Wonka BEFORE when he was young and filled with hope. The edge would come later with age and life experience. Gene would be proud.
Finally an origin story that lives up to the charm of the original. Well done to all involved. Mr. Wilder would be very proud. I’m sure wherever he is, he’s smiling.
unlike mufasa disney didn't even bother to make it a prequel to the original instead they just make it a prequel to its remake which only came out 5 years ago
I recently just watched this film with the assumption of a cheap money grab. I was blown away by the performance and musical numbers. Timothee Chalamet had an outstanding performance and knocked it out of the park. The entire film was full of genuine love and I was so happy to have watched it. It truly is a fantastic work of art that is able to capture the magic of it's intellectual property origins, which is rare.
12/10, best movie to come out of 2023, no question What I love about this movie is that they never really explain how his chocolate magical properties, its not even addressed by the other cast they just say its "great chocolate" despite knowing they are made out of fantastical/impossible ingredients. The magic behind of the chocolate isn't the point, its the love behind the chocolate that really give it is true magic.
Timothee sure surprises with his vanishing breed of triple threat talent. I just watched the movie for the first time in nearly a year. Wonka is so beautiful of a cinematic treat!
I’ve cried in a grand total of five movies for a variety of reasons. 1. Titanic: the people that actually died 2. Bridge to Terabithia: I have a hard time making friends 3. Batman 1989: I was 5, I didn’t know better 4. Star Wars Revenge Of The Sith: Once again, I was 5, I loved Jedi Anakin, and it hurt to see him fall 5. WONKA: The ending hurt me, but it made sense. They couldn’t stay, and that stung. Still heartfelt moments
This scene brought me back to my childhood. Willy Wonka was one of my brother’s favorite movies growing up and he would’ve loved this movie if he was alive. This scene brought me to tears because of the nostalgia and how it connected me to my brother the way Wonka connected to his mom through sharing his chocolate with his friends. This is peak cinema
I gave my mom the biggest hug after this film. Its crazy how people thought it would be a theater kid Willy Wonka when he brought the right level of quirkiness, spirit, humanity, and empathy to the character. He did such a beautiful job.

in gene wilder's version of this song, he sang it as if all possibility can be achieve even if its on your imagination but at the same time it looks like he was having some doubts or regrets while singing, since he sang it as if remembering things, this one however implies that his dreams has just begun and not to be afraid....i love both version of the song
I think with Gene's its much more him putting himself in his audiences shoes. Seeing that for the first time, just how mind blowing it is. Bcs this is a prequel, I imagine it was THIS struggle to get to that point that he was remembering and getting emotional about.
OR Maybe the last time he sang it was with Noodle, and he was remembering her and getting a little emotional

My children and love this film. My son does especially. I think it actually helps him stay grounded when he struggles. Thank you Timothy Chalamet and whoever else made this possible!
Timothée held Wonka in safe hands, Gene.. I promise 🥹
So true. And he didn’t try too hard to be Gene he did his own thing with it and so wonderfully.
I liked this movie way more than I was expecting to.
1:40 "so goes a good deed in a weary world" hey I get that reference
More like in the future, Wonka quoted Lofty.
@@TheEmpressReborn that makes sense
The original version of this quote goes all the way back to Shakespeare: "So shines a good deed in a naughty world" -- Funny how great ideas come back around. Kinda like how great characters like Wonka (himself) come back around too.
@@ChandlerLawsonPlays oh yeah I actually heard that reference from a comment in a video
and... "I said good day sir"
just shows wonka was always a pure boy who just wanted to make the world better. nothing changed, he stayed the same even after getting famous. why can't more people be like that? XD

I just saw this movie and I ugly cried for like 10min
Im 36yr old and seeing this brought a flood of memories and emotions.
I forgot the feelings, emotions and child wonder of what imagination used to be. Even if only for a few minutes I could taste what imagination used to be 😭❤😭
I got teary eyed when this scene came on haha
I'm 18 nearly 19 I saw this movie on December 27th at cinema in uk
Same here! I’m almost 34 years old, and try to plan a Disney World vacation every 5 years. I need that imagination and magic.
@@KathrynB621 I'm going there this year I love disney world I haven't been to a disney Park for like 7 years
@@taliagmail.com2005 Enjoy, enjoy! Be sure to ride Flight of Passage. It was so good, I teared up at the end. Rise of the Resistance is also worth the wait!
Timothee really recreated the magic of this song and the character,BRAVO👏
He took a treasured childhood memory and turned it into an aggressive bowel complaint. I'm in physical pain at how crap this is, and by the way, I don't think he's ever eaten chocolate to begin with. He's a fraud of the highest order.
@BD12 aw someone's mom never gave them chocolate as a kid. Or hugs
He was robbed!!! He should be nominated for an Oscar he is phenomenal!!! Thank you for posting my favorite part of the movie ❤️❤️
Making film in Oxford street
i might be wrong but i think because of its late release in the year he might be in the pool for next year. but id look that up
I hope so because he truly deserves an Oscar
this movie geniuinely made me cry
the movie is AMAZING
@Tacogoesduffy217 this was the only song sent to Oscar's before the movie released, so it was in this year's pool
The scene alone makes the movie worth it. This is so inspiring. Every outstanding achievement really starts with your imagination.
I have had this song on repeat for weeks. It literally is like a drug, I can't stop. It makes me feel so happy yet inspired at the same time.
Timothee Chalamet is the perfect Wonka I knew in my life
I like Johnny Depp
He is. ❤
Stop comparing them @@oscarschmitt6048
Wilder is the perfect wonka but timothee chalamet did a great job with the impossible task of living up to him
fr
Lofty said “Good day sir” THE SAME THING WONKA SAID THE CHARLIE AND GRANDPA JOE!
Shit that’s right
Also "So goes a good deed in a weary world"
well spotted (which is the british way of saying no shit sherlock)
I said “Good Day!”
The one that's perfectly matched is the one where lofty stole on his house
"Good day sir, I said good day"
Isn't it wonderful that people still want that thrill of their imagination. It brings happiness to the heart.
I Swear. This Ending Almost Made Me Cry. Just Seeing Noodle Return To Her Mom Warms My Heart. And Everything Else Was Just Perfect. Like Willy Creating His Factory Along With Lofty (Or Shortypants 🤣) As His Assistant In The Tasting Department. 👍 But The Best Part? Is Timothée’s Reprise Of Pure Imagination. 10/10 Would Watch Again.👌
I 100percent agree!
I started crying too.
His voice is so beautiful 😍🥰💗

without trauma dumping in the comments section of a youtube video, long story short the original willy wonka was very important to me as a child and the moment he said "...come with me-" i bursted into tears like an inconsolable child
You and me both. And for the same reason
Thank you for sharing it with us☺

Timothee Chalamet was meant to be Willy Wonka, but I'm disappointed that this isn't nominated at the Oscars, but other then that, this was a great film and my favorite film of 2023
At least he is
SO disappointed that this didn't get ANY Oscar accolades, or Nominations! Just RIDICULOUS!!
FANTASTIC Movie, FANTASTIC Cast, Timothee as Willy Wonka, was SPECTACULAR!!
What a SHAME!
@@janebarry-fraundorf4623bruh every single movie can’t be nominated for an oscar. while tis movie is very nostalgic, objectively it’s not oscar worthy
@@coastingalong Objectively it really is. It's far superior to everything Disney released this year.
@@amandapike2477 yea that doesn’t mean anything. there are multiple plot holes as well as a few scenes that were lazily written. it’s a great movie but let’s not start giving out awards for mediocrity
I started singing along when this song came on. Pure joy ! My husband even shed a tear during this scene. ❤
This film is a masterpiece
This movie lived up to the reputation of the original movie and legacy of the book.
I left satisfied and free, Gene Wilder would have been proud of this movie if he was alive
actually this movie would've never happened if he hadn't died.
@@ThatNobodyRigor
Is that so?
yeah, he never wanted a sequel or prequel and they waited until he died to announce this movie in particular (I think)
@spiinxshow
It feels like the Wonka verse has been having a wave of revival since he died.
First, the Broadway musicals now the prequel
@@ThatNobodyRigor they announced 5 years after he died in early 2021 which is now 3 years ago since they announced it and almost 8 years ago since gene wilder past away
I was so pleasantly surprised how good this was timothee was truly perfect to play a younger Wonka
Hands down, it was his shining moment.
I wish I could taste what Wonka’s chocolate taste one day, I was literally craving chocolate after watching it 3 times-
Anywayyyyyyy I love Timothée’s movies and so as this one, this one is amazing and so as his singing!!
I hope that he gets what he wants and stars in good movies, keep going Timothée!
I teared up when he started singing this.
Me too
Saw this movie last week with my granddaughter. All three movies were wonderful for different reasons. But, I loved this one!

On a whim, we decided to go to the cinemas one night when I was travelling in Vietnam, there was a limited choice of movies and we decided to see Wonka, there are few things at age 55 years that I really enjoy but I have to say, this movie was so enjoyable that I can't rate it highly enough.....
Man I LOVE the ending, the beginning, and all the middle! I went in with LOW expectations and left as my favorite movie of 2023…maybe 24 as well 🤷♂️
Thanks for sharing this ❤️🙏

What I found amazing was how Wonka instantaneously created his chocolate factory in the castle using his pure imagination. An imagination so powerful that the Oompah Lumpah was completely caught up into it.
That with the song this last scene truly remarkable and yet totally convincible!
Bravo to the actors and producers of this film. This is a film I will see time and time again. 🤗
wait till wonka 2 comes out
This version sounds like the words of a man who is hopeful for the future.
The 1971 sounds like the words of a man who can't believe he actually achieved said future.
"In a world of pure imagination!"
"It's a ruined castle."
That makes me crack up everytime.
Why is timothee chalamet so good at singing pure imagination 😮
Um . . . because he's a trained and experienced actor and singer who does so for a living?
Me too, this entire comment!!
Who else kind of loved that the castle turned into the factory.
Me!

It was cool
The most touching moment of 2023❤
I have this song in my head for hours even days again and again
Just shows how catchy the song is!!
Make us all think we are Willy Wonka
As he says:
We are the music makers and we are the dreamers of dreams!
Haven’t read the books, so I don’t know.
same
@@TheRealFrandudenah they should give it an original sequel to continue young willy's adventures and ofcourse I wanna see more of timothee as wonka he nails the role
This was the best movie I saw in 2023! Great movie!:)
My mother and I saw this in theaters and the moment this part came up she started crying as she thought about her childhood when she first saw Willy Wonka.
Especially love the singing at the very end! Timothée is so talented.
I can’t handle how heartwarming this ending is oh my gosh
Wonka should be on youtube condensed, aquaman lost kingdom too. WONKA 2023 GREAT SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Pure Imagination Timothee did a great job.
Wow, he nailed it.
This movie is a reminder to never lose the kid in you. So much fun
The bond between Noodle and Wonka is the core of the story..what a beautiful movie it is.. I will never underestimate Paul King
There is no doubt in my mind that if Gene Wilder were alive today, he would have been proud of what they accomplished. It’s not just a film but a love story to the tale of Willy Wonka and a tribute to the great Gene Wilder
he would of been proud of timothee he wpukd be like I am very proud of you timothee
this scene is magical, made me cry. I just love how the film embraced the pure unabashed optimism and whimsy, there is no hint of cynicism
When this started to play, I knew they were gunning for the grand, magical and satisfying ending I had in my mind. Happy to say that I wasn’t disappointed.
I LOVE THIS SONG !!! I IMAGINED IT AS A MEMORY OF MY CHILDHOOD❤❤❤❤🥺😃😃🥲🥲🥲🥲🥲
👏🏽well said
The way I saw it was that this is Wonka BEFORE when he was young and filled with hope.
Honestly I loved the original as a kid. As an adult I found this absolutely gorgeous and answered questions I always had as a kid about Wonka.
12/10, best movie to come out of 2023, no question
What I love about this movie is that they never really explain how his chocolate magical properties, its not even addressed by the other cast they just say its "great chocolate" despite knowing they are made out of fantastical/impossible ingredients. The magic behind of the chocolate isn't the point, its the love behind the chocolate that really give it is true magic.
Timothee sure surprises with his vanishing breed of triple threat talent. I just watched the movie for the first time in nearly a year. Wonka is so beautiful of a cinematic treat!
I loved Timothee as Wonka, his singing, his acting PERFECT🎉❤
They changed the lyrics and emphasized parents relationship to their kids. Fantastic
I’ve cried in a grand total of five movies for a variety of reasons.
1. Titanic: the people that actually died
2. Bridge to Terabithia: I have a hard time making friends
3. Batman 1989: I was 5, I didn’t know better
4. Star Wars Revenge Of The Sith: Once again, I was 5, I loved Jedi Anakin, and it hurt to see him fall
5. WONKA: The ending hurt me, but it made sense. They couldn’t stay, and that stung. Still heartfelt moments
Don't apologize for number 3. That was a damn good movie!
@ Yeah, but people hate it for some reason. Jar Jar isn’t even in this one I don’t think
I waited the whole movie for this song, and what a way to end it with this one!
It's not the chocolate that matters. It's the people you share it with.😭
This scene brought me back to my childhood.
Timothee Chalamet is great- amazing talent..
So amazing that film was. I hope there can be a sequel about the factory being built and how the oompa loompas moved in.
me too the film is only recent so once the film isnt so recent anymore maybe a sequel will be discussed
I gave my mom the biggest hug after this film. Its crazy how people thought it would be a theater kid Willy Wonka when he brought the right level of quirkiness, spirit, humanity, and empathy to the character. He did such a beautiful job.
