When we were watching this movie and when we got to the part where the Oompa Loompa started singing, my sister was singing along and I was dancing along. (We grew up with the book and watched both the old and the new Charlie and the Chocolate Factory movies) and my step brother (who didn't grow up with the franchise) asked "Why are you dancing" then I looked him in the eye and said "You don't understand!"
We watched it just over a week ago. We bought our tickets expecting an empty theater about 7 hours ahead of time. Wow were we wrong. Almost 50% of the theater was full. It was a fun experience overall. Even my autistic son enjoyed it and he never watches movies at home... or TV. Thank you for such a lovely film.
He was on to something. Ever since I first heard this version of the song, it never left my mind. Bravo to the songwriters and orchestra for making this ruinously catchy tune!

This movie surprised me. Never had any intention of watching but decided, out of boredom, to catch this. Man, this was wholesome, whimsical fun that Hollywood never makes. No forced messages. No cringey diversity for the sake of diversity. No feminist. Just pure, wholesome, fun.

I was extremely skeptical... but it was a breath of fresh air to see a movie free from the dogmas of political correct mainstream: no rhetoric, no forcing, no "indoctrinating" messages placed between the lines. Just a beautiful story, genuine and pure, with beautiful characters... where sweetness and dreams win over the cartels. We need movies like this.

I love this movie a lot. They never mentioned the beasts that invades Loompa Land: the Hornswogglers, Snozzwanglers, and Whangdoodles. Maybe it was too scary to mention them or something?
