Thanks very much for putting this video out. I and another member of my local game group backed CY-BORG , so of course we had to search out more info on Mork Borg. Looking forward to getting some sessions in soon. Have an excellent day.
I personally like Mork Borg way more than D&D, less rules and I am in love with the setting. It’s also the first thing I ever DMd for, none of my players have played, anything before lol. But they’re doing pretty great so far…. Well great for Mork Borg lol
the artwork, setting, and overall vibe is what drew me to this game. there’s nothing i love more than a dying world where the heroes failed. love playing as some regular everyday mf instead of some op hero
Correction; if you are reduced to exactly 0 HP you then become "broken" and roll that d4 to see what happens. If you are reduced below 0 HP, you die. Straight up.
Mentioned this in your Vast Grimm video but wanted to share here since rules are same: Since getting to negative HP from damage is more common than exact 0, I recommend the Death & Dismemberment aka Horrible Wounds system made/adapted by zordvil (or vil) for Mork Borg. You stop at 0 HP and negative bonus damage corresponds to a table by damage type. The higher values do result in instant death or when fail toughness roll, but lower has more effects similar to Broken.
@@spartan3924 I just wrote my own campaign and kept it kinda loose in the spirit of the osr, i gave the players a good amount of agency and they started their own adventure
@@VILLIANx2 nice, the random tables do make it interesting for me to start my own, I was going to start rotblack sludge today as an intro for my group. @@zacgoins6303 it was so much fun. Our group usually play Symbaroum on Thursday nights. Since one of our members was out of town this week, we tried out Mork Borg. I failed miserably at everything and it was a blast

D100 Dungeon is a TTRPG. It has a battle system based on gear and where a hit took place which makes the narrative much easier to see, unlike any other game system I've ever played.
Go to their website, you can find the stripped down pdf for free. That means, all the rules but none of the flair. Also, plenty of their extra material like the character and monster generator is as well
@@hervymarquezgarcia1079 thanks for real...I didn't know that! I do want that book eventually though...the art work is sick but the text font kinda gives me a headache lol. It does LOOk awesome.
I found the book to be very straight forward. There isnt much to it its a lot like OSE very hackable and you can have a whole table ready to go in 15 minutes.
While I agree with all this I don't get the old-school feel. It's a great rendition of modern D&D and I prefer to to any other 3e or later but it's very much modern D&D.
Armor works as damage reduction. Whenever you take damage, you roll the die associated with your armor type (light = d2, medium = d4, heavy = d6) and reduce the damage taken by that amount. If you take a critical hit while wearing armor, your armor value is reduced by 1 die type until it is repaired (example: d6 becomes d4).
Having never played an RPG or DMd, I picked up Mork Borg because it sounded like, from the community, it was simpler to play than DnD. Trying to read through the rules I feel incredibly intimidated. The layout, logically, seems like a disaster. I am wondering if it's only easier to understand and play from a perspective of already being an RPG veteran rather than a complete noob. It was somewhat exhausting reading through the book the first time and I am not looking forward to re-reading it.
Yeah this is a terrible design choice. They obviously chose style over ease of use and it will keep people from playing. I'm a D&D veteran of over 10 years and was terribly confused as well. So definitely not an experience issue.
There is the Bare Bones edition of the game, which you can get for free digitally and cuts through all of that. I agree though that the standard book is/can be a turn off for all sorts of people. Style is the priority all the way there.

It's intended for a GM, but I'm toying with the idea of putting together a little solo-play guide. With the amount of tables and random generation, it'd be a pretty easy tweak to play solo.
No offense but you wasted a lot of time ranting about where things are placed in the book when you could be using that time to actually explain the rules. You didn't walk us through how to make a character, didn't explain omens, how to use powers and arcane catastrophes, the rolls for the calendar (which was why I was looking for a how to play video)... A little flourish to the tutorial is fine, but not when your how to play video ends with a "of course there are things we didn't cover". 10:43 In the end, after watching this video, I still have to go back to reading the book to actually learn how to play.
Thanks for the support, Duke! I'll take that into consideration for the next series I record. I was trying to make sure I had enough space beside me for the pop-in graphics to not stab into my face, but I may have overdone it.

I always thought this was a typo. Otherwise, you'd only get to roll on the broken table when you 'precisely hit zero', which seems less interesting.

The index is generally at the back of a book. ToC is a different matter, ofc.
Yeah, that's true. I'm just so used to a ToC.

Who rolls for the monsters armor / damage reduction?
As the GM, I typically do it, but there's no reason the player doing the damage couldn't do that as well.
Would you mind explaining the armour rules in further detail? Thanks.
