Listening to this, I immediately thought liver problems. I suffered similar medical issues and was faced with liver failure. I received a transplant almost 3 years ago and I am so grateful.
I have listened to you Mr Allen for years now and this one had me in tears for the ups and downs they had. Please continue the amazing story telling you do.
What an incredible story. Heartbreaking in some places but hopeful in others. Our medical techniques are improving every day with the research that scientists and doctors do.
I’ve never used the word “tapping” or even heard of it. The procedure is a thoracentesis. And I was wondering. Did they ever do a work-up for the syncopated episode he suffered at the top of the stairs including a cardiac echo since he had a known murmur). Thanks for these great stories!
I have this same condition, minus the murmer. Refractory, idiopathic (🙄). After 7 thoracentesis appointments I told the doctor I was concerned about scar tissue buildup and asked for self draining catheters. I did that for a few months until one of the catheters wrapped around my pericardium. Then I eventually had pleurodesis, which has now led to other problems as the chyle fluid is building up in my tissue😭 it’s been about 5 years since this all started.
what was the point of bringing her to boston... they could have e told her that over email or thr phone.... instead of getting g her hopes up only to dash them like that
Too much scar tissue to drain him? That doesn’t make any sense. They could easily take him into surgery and cut through that scar tissue. I have immense amount of scar tissue throughout my body. And you can push through it. The doctors gave up on him.
Right. Currently they say I have Lymphatic malformations, my case is almost exactly like his, sans heart murmur. Same age when symptoms presented. Going on 5 years of this hell.

You had refractory chylothorax & Chylous ascites due to liver problems?

I guess she didn't care about bringing a dusty 3 ring binder into ICU, The picture I have in my head is her blowing it off right over him.
Wish gene editing (ie CRISPR) could cure or mitigate this.
Fantastic!!
Sounds alot like my Medical Mystery atm
Hernia?, I had one that did the exact same thing. I was sick for 2.5 years!!!
Hernia caused Chylous effusions??
What’s the gene? As a genetic counselor I’m super curious
❤woohoo
Good morning 🌄
Why is Jocelyn smoking cigarettes, especially knowing her families history?
I wonder why they didn't put in some kind of permanent drain? Does that exist?
Yes. You can have catheters placed to self drain. I had them.
Do you know how to get to Bells Canyon?
Sad.
He should of gone to the Mayo clinic
Did jocelyn make it thru?
She's still alive. If you want to know more about her look up Joselin Linder
Yep, she’s a writer and pro-choice advocate now!
