All I can say is YOU ARE ONE LUCKY DUDE! You look at a mbz wrong and they break. To go to an auction to pick up a ca drop a battery in the car and drive it 150 miles with out issues..and a MBZ no less...is pure LUCK. Looks like you got a killer deal.
Antother hint: When you drive home a car you are not quite sure about, let it drive in FRONT of the escort car. The reason is quite obvious. And put in a new battery the key. That will work wonders.
I have the same car except in the S430 AMG version. The only difference between his new one and my "new" one is the V-12 I have the V-8. I had the same problem when I went to pick up mine from the seller and I replaced the battery also. Since doing that I have had the same issue with a dead battery if I let it sit over 3 days. 1 of 2 reason for it is 1) the car never really shuts off, because of the constant computer operation for memory it can and will drain the battery without a tender. 2) he had a flaky battery to start with and these cars ARE power hungry. The way to check is install a volt meter on the battery and then open each fuse panel and there are 3 of them. Pull out 1 fuse at a time and when the meter drops to below .05 volts you have found the item that is draining the volts and replace that item or look for shorts. As far a replacing the battery in the key 80% of the time that will not help. These models have a non-start system that if the battery is below a preset voltage they will not start no matter what you do. (though in my car there is a special switch in the center consul that you can push that will give you just enough boost to start even on a bad battery. But you have to know where it is and it can be a pain in the ass to get to.
The key fob works now because while it's in the ignition the battery gets charged. So if you have a spare key that's not working, use that one for a while till it's charged up again. :)
the sos is because someone activated the emergency release in the trunk and its stuck, or the latch spring in the trunk is worn out so when you pull on it top open the trunk it stays in the pulled position triggering that SOS

yeah. whenever i get a new car I always go with the same friend. He has one rule though. He can drive the new car back. I have to drive my own old car :)
Early 2000s Mercedes always act kinda wonky when you let the battery be dead for too long. When I first got mine and put the new battery in it, the sunroof wouldn't open all the way, the auto down function on the windows didn't work etc. After I drove it around for a while everything started back working fine.
One thing essential for German cars is that It’s best if you get an OEM battery. it will cause you less headaches as the battery is tuned to the cars sensitive electronics. they last for years so your getting your moneys worth. One of our old E classes still uses the original battery from 2008 and runs strong.
That freekin cliffhanger from the previous video.... Will the car start up, after sitting for almost 2 years and after being used as a critter's nest under the hood?? If it does, will it make those hundreds of miles back home OR will it start shattering piece by piece on the highway during the journey home?!? LOL, I kept checking for my notification to pop up today :) So happy it wasn't a dud, and that you and Tim made it back safely. Can't wait to see what you guys work on first. Excellent buy
I'm so happy for you. You took a chance and it worked out for you. The only problem is it's gonna be a bittersweet win. If you keep it, it's gonna be expensive to maintain, but if you sell it, I'm sure you're gonna miss having it... If you do sell it, hold on to it for a while to enjoy driving it but when you do sell it make sure you price it for a crazy high price. In the stock market risk taking can be rewarded with a high rate of return and you also need to make enough money to pay yourself and Tim for all the work you have invested in it.
All of what work?, that wasn't work, please! It wont be "expensive to maintain" because they usually don't just break, the drivers break them for lack of knowledge about what they are owning. People looking for high rates of returns are fantasizing, fast money in the stock market is rare, long slow money is what i prefer.
just started waching part two ,i live in Australia with my wife ,the kids are older and moved out many years ago and we are yes we are looking into moving to Tulsa Oklahoma ,packing up and having a massive sea change based soley on your reccomendations on how lovely the people are and the area looks awesome ,why not take a chance ,everyone our age have retired and are caravanning all over Australia and we are taking a gamble
You sure that Interstate battery was dead? I have been using them for years and they are always spot on with the warranty and then some. Actually have one on my truck since '05 (7 yr warranty) and it's still good to go. Interstate = expensive = amazing quality.
My cousin bought one of these with like 80k miles with blown suspension last year. he converted everything over to coil suspension and she rides smooth as hell
Someone paid to put an Interstate battery (the best apart from Deka) in that thing as well. The Interstate in my car is a few months older than that and is perfect. It just needs recharging with a real battery charger.
Great video! Tim has balls of steel driving that car home that far at night. That ABS light scared me a little I thought you were headed for limp mode.
I run marine/RV batteries in all my vehicles they hardly ever go dead the cranking amps are usually plenty high enough and the cost is usually sufficiently less. Also most of them have the option With dual terminals if you're running any accessories off the battery or for easy jump starting
Randy, Excellent gamble! Love your content and channel! Im addicted! Keep up your positive vibe and give a shoutout to your brother for helping you late into the night! Cant wait to go on the next adventure! 👍
Great video series! Keep them coming. Also, you might want to replace batteries on key fobs if you get intermittent connections. Best $5 I've ever spent.
Ah, donated, not totaled. Got it, thanks. Makes a little more sense. A Mercedes dealer won't put a bunch of money into one of these because the resale value is horrible. Their service techs will go over it quickly and things like the ABC suspension will get a big black mark. They'll just make down "replace shocks" and at $1800 ea! they'll just dump the car.
Carfax can be wrong.. for instance, I sideswiped someone, minor damage and carfax reported that my airbags deployed which they definently did not. Near impossible to get this changed...thank God It was a lease
I would change the ABC / suspension fluid and have that entire system inspected for leaks/faults...and I hope you don't have any ABC module (electrical) failures, all the best and good luck!
I think you should have a Tims Tech Tips section so he can get some FaceTime. I’m glad you took my advice and bought that black beauty. Now that’s content!!
it's not a 6.0, it's a 5.8 M137. the W140 had a DOHC 6.0 called the M120, this is the car that came after it. the engine was short-lived and a twin turbo V12 replaced it, called the M275.
a car with a ton of maint, with 112000k miles my son has a 2009 fusion with 100k its had tires 2 of which were factory and a set of front brake pads !! aint sayin much fer german tech
You have the best luck with cars I still say. Big thumbs up for Tim! All in All seems like a good deal! Looking forward to future videos! Keep up the great work. BTW I got a tee shirt the other day.
1600.00 That’s a lot of car.. In fact that car is badass!! I’ve self taught myself the mechanics of that V12 with my 93 600sl. Hmu if you r ever stumped.. FYI - Replace the Brake light switch - confirm your fuel pressure past the regulator. - Run a can of Sea Foam in every tank for the rest of its life.. - clean all contacts (mafs, TBA’s, ect) - Replace coolant temp sensor. - RESET the ECU. (search the steps. wheel all right to all left 2 times ect) it will re learn as you drive it. - LET IT WARM UP.. don’t touch anything until it Idles Down too 900rmp. ish . Battery is key to success.. either keep tender on it or pull the neg post off.. when sitting for more than 7 days. (sensors slowly drain it.. normal but takes a long slow charge to get it back. - In my 93 the brake light switch has many functions. Blew my mind how much info ran past the brake light switch. Who can tell me one of the functions? a.) ?
if or when i make more money i want a corvette. i didn't know the trunk was so open like that. its like a small hatchback. it would be perfect for dropping off paintings. i would prefer more of a sleeper but corvettes are so worth the money.
I’ve been watching your videos now for a couple weeks and I love the copart walk arounds. I thought about buying some vehicles from a copart near me. I was wondering if you had any good tips for first time buyers there
You could place all five cars on Turo, listed for top dollar. When it comes time to buy or sell a car, you won't be a used car salesman but rather a rental car fleet operator updating his vehicle offerings. Getting a blanket insurance policy should be relatively easy at that point.
+Auto Auction Rebuilds hey my name is Brian and I live in Michigan I want to buy a satrun but it has no heat or AC and it over heats do you know what it might me and how much will it be to get it fixed it has a 170 miles on it is a ls2
Nice, just seen the video where you went to collect the car and get it running & I'm hooked. Subbed now cheers. Slightly jealous of the price you paid for that merc though, I thought our '06 Volvo S80 was a bargain at £700 but this could be off the scale.
I definitely agree with the fact you should a droves that Mercedes but when the batteries die and those cars you have to reset the SOS and ABS only do that by turning the wheel left right left right all the way each way and that will solve that problem if it doesn't go away there is a center under the brake pedal for $30 that may need to be changed out
They're not better than the tag agency in Virginia! Everyone speaks bad about Virginia, but there are those that will always be the exception to the rule. Good to know that there are an array of professionals everywhere, assisting people in positive ways, outside of their job description.
This is why I've always allowed myself at least 5 hours when going to pick up a used car any real distance away from home. You never know what you'll run into.
Dude its amazing u only paid under $2000 for a v12 Mercedes! It seemed 2 be in better shape than the 06 Nissan Altima. Some ppl get ALL the luck when it comes 2 finding dime piece cars that almost everything works. LUCKY!!!! I REALLY hope when i go buy a new used car i can find a gem!
the key worked probably because it charged the key battery with the new car battery throughout the trip. try holding the trunk button for few seconds, my merc took about 1.5 sec to work as security measure, that my the issue.
I think that generation of S-Class came with radar-controlled cruise control, which will keep the car a safe distance behind the vehicle in front. I believe it was optional on most of the range, on top of the standard-fit cruise control system, but on a 600 the radar system was probably standard. I believe on those even if the cruise control isn't set it will still beep if you are too close to the vehicle in front which could well be one of the beeps that was annoying your brother. I think the system is a little careful over what constitutes a safe distance and they can get a bit wonky with age, like the parking sensors so it could be it has gone a little nuts too, but maybe if he drove a little further back from the vehicle in front it might shut up...
+Auto Auction Rebuilds If I remember correctly you don't need to use the cruise control for the radar to operate, it still operates when you're driving, measuring the gap to the vehicle in front. It might have something to do with an emergency braking system which seems not to have actually been fitted to the cars some time later, but it still reads the traffic ahead and the distance to the vehicle in front...
gosportjamie You really don't know what you're talking about. No emergency braking system. Btw, his comment was referring to an actual radar detector (for radar guns).

AutoCheck is far better than CarFax.
A $1,600 V12 Mercedes thats been sitting for over a year, and all you had to do was put a battery in it to drive it home. You are one lucky SOB.
The thing had only been serviced by the dealership

It would have been better for the viewers if you drove the merc home and filmed it.

Detail time! Damn it man....now you got me downloadin the Copart App and looking....found a Porsche Boxster, I'm thinking about it!!!!!

It's a pretty decent ride! Thanks Tom!
Wow! After 2 years the gasoline didn't go bad
It's not too good lol. you should smell this exhaust.
that is very low mileage, and for what you paid, what a steal...uber man is the man.
Thanks for the info dude I'm working on mine right now can't wait to get it running I don't think I'll ever sell it unless you know I have to
unplug the battery for 10 min. reconnect and turn the steering wheel lock to lock 5 times.
Was this the 600 which stands in Frankfurt IAA 2001? I found a picture of that Car from 2001....
For the trunk you need to hold the button, the same goes for the door button for the trunk.
a car with a ton of maint, with 112000k miles my son has a 2009 fusion with 100k its had tires 2 of which were factory and a set of front brake pads !! aint sayin much fer german tech
You have the best luck with cars I still say. Big thumbs up for Tim! All in All seems like a good deal! Looking forward to future videos! Keep up the great work. BTW I got a tee shirt the other day.

I have a v 6 e 2400 2.6 liter here in Egypt to open the trank you have to press for a little well on the key buttom
A hell of a story!
Awesome car, man!
I always crank up the Hair Nation when I'm out in the garage wrenching on my vehicles!! Greatest. Channel. Ever.
1600.00 That’s a lot of car.. In fact that car is badass!! I’ve self taught myself the mechanics of that V12 with my 93 600sl.
Hmu if you r ever stumped..
FYI
- Replace the Brake light switch
- confirm your fuel pressure past the regulator.
- Run a can of Sea Foam in every tank for the rest of its life..
- clean all contacts (mafs, TBA’s, ect)
- Replace coolant temp sensor.
I was wondering if you had any good tips for first time buyers there
Always go look them over WELL yourself. Start them if possible.
Thanks. I appreciate it!
You could place all five cars on Turo, listed for top dollar. When it comes time to buy or sell a car, you won't be a used car salesman but rather a rental car fleet operator updating his vehicle offerings. Getting a blanket insurance policy should be relatively easy at that point.
The 600 is too old. :(
Plus Turo will not accept rebuilt title vehicles.
Love the car, can't wait to see future videos on it.
Thank you. Tomorrow's and Saturday's are already uploaded lol.
+Auto Auction Rebuilds hey my name is Brian and I live in Michigan I want to buy a satrun but it has no heat or AC and it over heats do you know what it might me and how much will it be to get it fixed it has a 170 miles on it is a ls2
Haha very good video bro, cracked me up when putting battery in the vet
key fob/car probably “forgot” eachother because the cars battery was dead for awhile.
No the fob is charged while plugged into the car
Nice deal on the Benz.
Thank you.
to open the trunk with the key, you should pres and hold the buton till the trunk opens.
New to your channel but love the video bro. Do you sale the cars after you buy them
Nice, just seen the video where you went to collect the car and get it running & I'm hooked.
*might be the issue
The beeping was actually the radar detector, and the SOS for the ABC system. He didn't use the cruise control at all. But good info!
Parktronic and Distronic were both optional even on the S600.
gosportjamie You really don't know what you're talking about. No emergency braking system. Btw, his comment was referring to an actual radar detector (for radar guns).
