Glad the weather cleared up! Great video Matt! The tail cam fix on the horizon vs aircraft... jury out from me... unless you're doing banking. Tail spin stalls might be interesting. Hehehe! Glad you got the formidable fuel cluster orchestrated in your head. That's why I always topped off. Have a good one!
That's great! No more snow! ( definitely a four letter word. ) You can fly low and see the farmers who are outstanding in their fields!😂 Seriously, the photo angles are perfect. Makes me feel I'm right there with you. And what nice is that we all can learn with you the tech aspects of your plane. Take care.😎👍
After commenting on the last video about the tail cam, you're right about how it keeps the horizon somewhat level with the plane pitching & yawing (to an extent) then moves appropriately with your turns. It must've been a long day at work for me that day, making the comment about the last video & me not being in the proper frame of mind for a *CORRECT* comment about the new tail video. My apologies! I think the current setting is spot-on!
Should check on installing the new style bubble doors, they are stronger and supposedly seal better. the one you have, have a history of leaving the plane while in flight.
It's easy to turn your plane around on those roads. Shut off the engine, get out, walk back to the tail. Pull down on the tail till the nose wheel comes off the ground. Then just spin the plane around in place, holding the nose up.. Presto.🙂
When you landed at Tim's the footage from the strutcam makes it look like the left main wheel isn't turning at times. It could totally be an effect of the frame rate, but initially when you land it is visibly apparent that the wheel is turning (eg touchdown), then a few seconds later as you roll out, not so much. It seems like the brakes remove any freewheel when you're aloft. I'd guess you would definitely feel a wheel being locked-up on the grass, but would you feel both locking if your were getting light on your wheels?
Too well, that's how I broke the pilot's side door - I tried to close it with the spring in place still. I've taken the spring off and I don't intend on replacing it. lol I'd guess that they are about 10 inches long and about a half inch diameter.
Question for ya, what were your approach speeds at with the zero flaps on this flight and about what were you touching down at? How does this compare to the beaver? (faster obviously with no flaps). I'm just curious how much faster for the zenith compared to the beaver? Tail cam is good, I like this mode. Again, thanks for all your vids - I know they are a lot of work, effort and expense, but they are very much appreciated.
I'm currently approaching at around 50 mph on the (wildly inaccurate) airspeed indicator which is still quite fast for this plane. I'm still working my speed down as I get more comfortable with it. The minimum safe approach speed for the Beaver is 40 solo and 45 dual. I suspect I'll be able to do 35 solo and 40 dual in the Zenith once I have more experience.
@@jmvlog636 My cameras will do 4K no problem but it's too much for my computer to handle. I know that there are ways around that but I barely have the time as it is to get weekly videos out. If I did them in 4K, it'd be more like a video a month. lol
The flaps are connected directly to the ailerons; this configuration is called flaperons. The "droop" where the flaps would be is how they add washout to the wing without having to twist the wing itself.
I'm in Canada; we don't have sport certificates here. The ultra-light pilot permit would be our equivalent. I have an ultra-light pilot permit as well as a commercial pilots licence. I also hold a flight instructor rating for both ultra-lights and "full sized" aircraft. lol
Cashing out in California and buying a new home in Arkansas. Wanting to get Sport pilot certificate and purchase a light sport plane as my new hobby. watching a lot of you flying and others and looking at the Zenith Stol aircraft. Thanks for responding.
That looks like a very capable airplane. A few of them are residing at my local airport, and the owners love them. Cheers from Winnipeg.
Where is vickie,,,its her turn,in the zenith,,,love it
Yeah love watching your videos Matt. The view from the tail camera is great 👍🏻keep up the work 🇬🇧
Cameras are perfect IMO. Tail camera is next level.
Great Job, Tail cam fantastic- don't change
great vid Matt love the camera angle its great you have so much freedom to land in fields ..
Agree, thumbs up for the tail view.
That was a great video. I really like all the camera angles.
@8:29 "Hey! Good job Matt. That's what I wanted."

Great video Matt. Love the 701, keep the fun rolling.
Great video map from down in Texas

Hahahaha!
Dude that little jump at the end there was AWESOME 😂So cool bro that AIRPLANE IS SWEEEEET!!
LOL, I gotta work on getting slower on my approach so I can stop before I get to the pavement and the little jump. 🙂
...Hey, good job Matt, that's what I wanted!
It's great how you control your CH 701 and how you can land it on narrow country lanes!
Good decision to change the defective fuel gauge.
Camera's perfect Matt
Nice to see the snow gone - enjoy a great summer of flying.
Matt, I need to sell my Quicksilver 2s now and get a 701! Keep up the good work, fly safe!

awesome video hello from Australia.
Looking good😊

Updated doors arrived a few days ago. They require quite a bit of assembly to install though so I'm not sure how quickly I'll get them on.
Nice flying mate.

I have no idea why that didn't occur to my while flying, I've done that many times. lol
Very cool.
Great video thanks for sharing, can't wait to get my zenith, here in Texas. Just wondering what's the hp.on your zenith. Thanks again.
I like the tale cam .
Was that a beaver lodge in the pond at your first touch and got road?
LOL, yes it was.

They just stop fast. I'm trying to decide whether to leave it like that or free them up. If I free them up I'll have to balance them. lol
Hey matt, good job. Just like I wanted.
Hey, good job Matt! That's what I wanted 👍😅
FYI My Bose are more passive than the Light-speeds I use to have.
Hello Matt, great Video. What size and length are your door springs? Do they hold the door open well?
Thanks

Where is it Vicky?
What cameras do you have on the plane please?
Does a plane like this have a cabin fan and heater. Southern Africa does get very cold in winter😢❄️☃️
I run DJI Osmo action cameras. Yes, most planes this size have cabin heat and I'm very thankful for it in the winter! :-)
Men ! Did all the snow from last week just disappear ?
Yup, it got warm here. lol
mmatt show cross counteries too!
Nice

@@mmatt Oh wow, ok thanks. Looking forward to seeing how this goes and more comparisons.
Several parts of your commentary made me laugh. Dry humour intended or not.. 😂.
What are you running for resolution? Seems pixelated a bit.
1080p
I'm glad you enjoyed it. :)
@@mmatt can you run 4k? Or does it take to much data or...?

Hey Matt, maybe it's just my eyes, but it doesn't look like your ailerons and flaps are trimmed alike.Wondering if this may cost you some speed?
The flaps are connected directly to the ailerons; this configuration is called flaperons. The "droop" where the flaps would be is how they add washout to the wing without having to twist the wing itself.
@@mmatt My plane has flapperons as well but mine are full length of the wing,I thought 701 had flaps,my bad.
👍
Do you have a private pilot license or sport certificate ?

Try those flaps sometime.
I have off camera, I'll use them on camera eventually.
Hey good job that’s what I wanted. 😂
Not the same without Vickie...
True
Maybe so, but remember, this is UA-cam, not tv. Give the poor guy a break.
Feels the same to me. Just don’t have that back and forth banter that we enjoyed.
New plane=New adventures.
Diggin’ it!
Hi Matt,
You have to explain to your audience what happened to Vicky. You were a team and suddenly it is different. No need to go into detail.
