Hey, thanks for the information. You pointed out the problem seals, showed me how to replace them with no added bull. I went to a dealer to get the kit and avoided supply chains issues. Cork tape I had to hunt down at Auto Zone. The guy behind the counter didn’t know what cork tape was. Once I had everything, I did what you did. Took me about an hour and a half to clean the dry rotted seals, apply the cork tape and then cover the cork tape with the seals in the kit. Next day it rained and there was no leak! Thanks again.
Really appreciate your video! Going to try it on my jeep.
Thanks for this! I'm having the same exact issue with my 2013 Jeep. Just ordered the seal kit. Thanks again!
No problem hope you get your leak fixed.
Good job.
That's exactly what's going on with mine. I have a 2010 Jeep Wrangler sport.
Holy shit !! The visor slide !!!! I did not know about that ;)
I have a hard top 2010 rubicon JK that gives me a shower on the driver side when it rains. (I'm in Oregon, it rains a lot). It just started leaking into the floorboards recently, even soaks my seat belt pretty good. I just got the hard top replacement kit and wanted to thank you for showing how to repair with the random pieces in a baggy. Here's hoping it works! (And no, I didn't know the sun visors did that either. lol)
Darn Oregon Rain 🌧.... I’m glad my video was of some help. Yes it should work. My wife and I currently have hard tops and I have used the same kit on the leak that plagues all Jeeps. The center leak between the freedom tops over the radio....😁😁😁😁 Thanks for checking out my. Channel and sorry for the late response.
just used this fix on my 2010 wrangler and it rained last night and today and so far no leak, thanks I used weather stripping 1 inch wide and 5/16 thick, so far so good thanks
No problem. Thanks for checking out the channel.
Moving your door hinges back and making the doors flush helped with my leaking!!!
New to your channel.. I have a 2012 soft too leak issues. Great video
rich richie NICE 👍. Thanks for checking out the channel.
Jeep natural engineering but my pro solved thank you
Dude were you driving my jeep lol
1:31 those plastic indents right by the knob, on mine too constantly fill up with water, and when I make a turn, water spills on me. I resealed, I bought that exact Quadratec kit, and replaced all those seals, and did not help at all. I actually made my own seals too, exactly like you have there with that roll, and added on the the existing, but still happens. I bought a new Rugged Ridge sailcloth top and I am replacing it tomorrow, as the old one is worn and shrunk, $499 and a $150 gift card. the Velcro seals no longer hold, the windows scratched and foggy, so I am hoping that resolves it. I even ran a strip along the entire front, no help. I was thinking about filling up those cups with foam.
Cool, if you need to fix the hard top be sure to post that one too! My 2010 2dr has a small leak somewhere. Thanks for making the videos!!
This is kit is for hard tops. I guess it works on soft tops also
I used it for my soft top. And it deff. Works. I stopped a huge flood from coming in. I have used it on my wife’s hard too. It was leaking upfront between the tops down onto the radio. It’s amazing how a little thin foam drip helps.
@@Jeeptv going to give it a try. LOL wife just text said her jeep is soaked.
Jeep_tv where did you put the foam to stop this front happening? I also have a leak and it drips all over my radio and actually killed it last month.
I ordered most of the stuff at Quadratec.com They have quite a bit of stuff.
I’m having the same issue with my jeep! I’ll follow the steps you did and tell you later if it worked. Thanks
1 year later....
My first JKU had a soft top and I got tired of the noise and leaks. I installed a one piece hard top from Jeep King. No leaks and it was super quiet, the A/C worked better and the stereo sounded a lot better. That one piece top saved my wife's life when she rolled the Jeep at 60 mph.
alan jackson Thank goodness everyone was ok. Yeah the hard tops are deff great for those who want the daily driver Jeep with out all the outdoor elements and constant water battle. I can say my wife loves her hard top over the soft as well. For me I’m a soft top guy. Thanks so much for checking out my channel. I’m guessing your still into Jeeps even after the scary roll over?
Jeep_tv Definitely still into Jeeps. After my wife totaled the Sport I upgraded to a Rubicon. I went to the Moab Easter Jeep Safari last year, and now I'm hooked. I plan on going to Moab every year for vacation from now on.
Nice. I wanna go. My buddy Cody with a Comanche is going this year. I told him he better video everything. I’m super stoked for him to get to go. That’s definitely the gauntlet of off-roading world.
Jeep_tv there's trails for every skill level in Moab. I've done Top of the World, Fins n Things, Steel Bender, and Hell's Revenge.
How long did it stop the leak for?
I bought a 2017 wrangler 4 door this week, August 2023, rain today and had about 1 inch of water in the driver's floor
Very helpful. Do you know what the other pieces are for that came in that kit? I got the same one and am using the pieces you did, but would love to know if there is something useful for the other pieces that will also help with the leaks.
The kit is actually for a hard top and there is a video I’ll find and send to you that shows were all the pieces go. There isn’t any wrong way to stop a leak but I have found that the cork tape was the biggest help. You can also go check out the plumbers tape at Lowe’s it’s like $8.00. m.lowes.com/pd/frost-king-1-8-in-rubber-plumbing-pipe-wrap-insulation/3427634?cm_mmc=shp-_-c-_-prd-_-rpe-_-google-_-lia-_-142-_-pipewrapandwinterization-_-3427634-_-0&kpid&store_code=425&k_clickID=go_625853472_34614743350_111134521990_aud-549623685082:pla-259586161850_m_9013266&gclid=CjwKCAjw1dzkBRBWEiwAROVDLNpLPPRfBYjNMrmoXgKXeulJZAYEGZipxrZIZpM9Ea34QtNfvtVCyRoCST4QAvD_BwE
This may be close to the same kit. www.extremeterrain.com/crown-automotive-hard-top-seal-kit-0717-jk.html
As much as they cost to buy you would think they could make the tops not leak.
You would think 🤔. It has to do with just design and making sure you Maintenance your top. My wifes hardtop drips on her radio but not all the time just when it wants too. Lol 😂 Thanks for checking out my channel and leaving a comment. 👍👍👍👍
I agree owning a soft top myself.
Just normal wear and tear. Took mine eleven years to leak but that's a cheap fix for eleven years of use.
Hi! Do you have any experience changing out the header bar clamps? I'd really appreciate any insight if you or anyone on here have it. Thank you!
Nope I have not done that. I’m sure if I had directions and or a picture I could do it. Are you talking about the actual clamps built into the header of the soft top to fasten it down on the little U looking hooks at the top of the windshield
I GOT THE SAME PROBLEM WITH MY 2010 SOFT TOP WHERE DID YOU BUY THE SEAL MATERIAL? THANKS FOR THE VIDEO
Armando Miranda Thanks for checking out my channel. I’m glad you enjoyed the video. There is a Link to the material in the description below the video.
How the hell do you get the moldy smell out?
That seriously blows!
Did you just say, you got this jeep about 6 momnths ago? That is pretty bad dry rot on the foam strips !
I just got back from a deployment to a pool of water inside my passenger side. Since you have done this has it leaked since?
PHGameTech After Making the seal repairs it solved the problems. I no longer own this Jeep.
My passenger side front seat floor where you put your feet always gets soaked.
No trouble on the driver side.
It is just where you put your feet. Up against the fire wall it is dry and the seat and under the seat is bone dry.
Having difficulty figuring out where exactly the leak is coming from.
BOB BEAUMONT Thanks for checking out my channel. Try and Locate the floor drain holes under the carpet. Make sure your plugs are installed. Also at the fire wall there is some expanding foam covering a hole that may have come loose. Let me know what you find.
You’re welcome!
I am glad to see I am not the only person with this problem and I appreciate as a visual learner that you made this clip and linked to the items.
My drain plugs are fully flush to the floor and working.
I think it is coming in from above the passenger door just before it slants down along the back of the windshield pillar.
It was raining today and I noticed that the water is coming in a slow, thin stream over the footboard plastic and then right onto the carpet where it gets soaked.
Where the corner of the roof attaches to the windshield. I noticed it dripping down and hitting the plastic door trim and then hitting the floor. The irony is that it is not dripping while the door is shut but seems to be riding the track down to the plastic sash.
It’s not dripping down from the top in an obvious, visual way.
Seems like the water rides the seal down to the point I described.
BOB BEAUMONT Glad I could help. Water issues suck. Especially when you have know idea how it gets in. You really had to hunt that down. Glad you found your issue.
Jeep_tv
I think I found it
BOB BEAUMONT what was it? The seal? The door? Same issue driver side
Does not work with this material. Tried it. It’s sponge. Still leaking.
this was helpful but mine is leaking also by my rear view mirror
Anna Moody DANG!!!!!! I would look into ordering a new gasket across the windshield. My wife’s Jeep has started to do that as well but it’s her hard top gaskets I RE-sealed to fix it. Do you have a hard top or soft top?
+Jeep_tv (BIGMAN06) hard top
Anna Moody I would check the passenger front center seal on your hard top. The passenger top lays down first on the windshield and it probably needs the most attention. That fixed my wife’s.
+Jeep_tv (BIGMAN06) okay cool, thank you!!
My yota doesnt drench me. Thanks for the vid
Thanks for checking out the channel. To be honest I almost bought a FJ Cruiser at one point.
@@Jeeptv No problem. I have a 2011 wrangler sport and my fjs a 2011. Yeah the wrangler has the solid axle, but the fj kills it in every other way in my own opinion. Actually got the jeep because I wanted another fj but couldn't afford one 😂
also not even putting them in the right spot but i guess if it worked thats a hard top kit
This did not help me. My jeep is leaking in the same spots but the seals did not prevent the leak.
Sorry to hear that. Water leaks can be a Pain. Most likely the leak is coming from another area and running and dripping down.
Looks like he should have cleaned the dirt off the seals and weatherstripping, that alone would probably cured most of his problems, not just sticking more seal material on the dirty parts!
Jeff Betts Probably could have cleaned it better. Stuff is so sticky don’t really matter much.... it’s pinched in there and will get hot and melt in with the rest. Crazy how something so thin can hold back the flooding that was going into my Jeep.
its a jeep its waterproof and has drains just deal smh
Uh, no smh
