Solo Winter Wild Camping In snow drifts and gale force winds / Hilleberg Akto Red Label 4 season tent.
In this weeks video I head out to bag another summit amongst the spectacular Helvellyn mountain range in the lake district national park. Not a huge summit at 650m altitude but the conditions prove testing and my patience and ability to stay calm are truly tested.

Superb video, loved every minute of that, with the Akto, one thing I found helps with the metal peg points at the end of the tent where yours came off the pegs, is to put a little loop of dyneema and peg through that, then the tent doesn't lift off the pegs.
Obviously the dyneema goes through the metal peg points not replace them.
Wow never thought of that but you are right that makes so much sense!! Even a little stretch of the hilleberg guy cord would do it thanks for the tip 👍🏻
Always tough camping in the wind and trying to sleep man. Akto doing you a solid one there keeping you safe.

@@BooniesPeaks all good here dude. I’ve only hit the fells once in two months, with all electrics on my car being butchered, back on the road on the 5th, so hopefully catch some snow myself, take it easy man, glad you’re well

@@BooniesPeaks I should elaborate, i've had my Allak for 4 years and camp all year round and Its stood-up to some pretty harsh conditions. If I want to go lighter its Soulo and the newest member of Hilley family is the Enan bought last year 👌
@Johnnygee10 I haven't had the allak very long so still to try it out in different condition I'm excited to get stuck in with it all year round

I'm 105 "Like". I'm sure we both consider your Hilleberg Akto a 5-Star Hotel out in the boonies. My shelter is the Hilleberg Enan & is everything I want/need for the high altitude weather condition up on nearby the High Sierras.

akto and enan are basically the same ten on the inner i havent tried an enan but i bet its just as strong in the winds. glad you enjoyed the videos take care over the pond ! all the best
Nice video as always. I’ve ordered one of the water bottles too as perfect for what I need although I got the 2L as enough for me. Told you it was windy 😂
Nice one glad you enjoyed it was my maye who.put me onto them they are brilliant pretty sure the material helps the water from freezing for a little longer too than a hard bottle just my experience like. Keep an eye on the filter if it's chilly haha
@@BooniesPeaks it looks like the exact same material as my BeFree. I’ve always had the 600ml version and had it 2 years. Katadyn liked my content and shared me on there feed a few times and said they wanted to send me a gift so sent me 2 x 1l versions. One is the black version which is the better material…think it’s the same as the 2L version I’ve just ordered. Feels tougher
@krisgleave get on you haha 😄 yeah the material feels super rugged it's made by hydrapak who make the Solomon bottle I used in my ultrarunning vest so I guess it has to be super durable

Nice video my friend. I bought an Akto too but never used it. Always I take with me either Nammatj 2 GT or Nallo 2. After this video I may give it a chance.

Cracking video as usual Luke 👍 Was pleased to see you using the HydraPak, have been thinking of getting one after seeing it in another video. Looks like a cracking piece of kit that you can attach to your rucksack, evidently it even takes the beefree filter which I have. Have you got anymore longer excursions planned? Loved your isle of Arran trip, certainly a beautiful place which we loved when we visited it last May. Keep up the good work 👍 😊
Thanks so much I'm glad that you enjoyed it ! The hydrapak is great my friend encouraged me to try one and haven't looked back since. There wont be a video next week but the week after I'm going up to Scotland for a multi day so climb some munros excited to show you what I get up to !
