What do you think of the new AWD Altima? Would it make it more appealing if you could get a better deal on it? Would you want us to try to get everyone better deals on new cars?
Having a TheStraightPipes $500 loyalty discount would be awesome for new cars! Please make it happen in the States!
That car use gtr from AWD
I hear bad things about Nissan reliability these days, especially compared to Japanese rivals. If I was into Japanese brands (which I'm not), I'd go with something from Toyota, which includes Lexus.
@TheStraightPipes are you going to be the Canadian CarWow?
Totally! Always good to not have to overpay.
I prefer the "I'm Jakub I'm Yuri and we're going for a drive" intro to the "Here's what you can expect".
It's still there
I know it’s still there I’m just used to your opener intro shot as the first thing you see with the Continental sponsorship and the double door close. That’s your guys look thing or branding per say.
Agreed. Why do “spoilers”? It’s just duplication. Sorry.
Yeah, I have to agree with these guys. Not a fan of pre-review review-clips, it just seems like a way for some people to see the highlights then immediately close the video. The original intro is nice, we you jump in the car and then the viewers jump into the review.
@@TheStraightPipes Yes, but the old intro is all you needed. I can appreciate what you are trying to do though. Maybe you'll refine it over time.
Yeah guys, eliminite the "coming up in this review" part. It does nothing to convince me to watch a video I'm already going to watch 👍
I disagree. Its not good for people who watch their videos regularly. But it works for the casual people that may only be watching the review to look up the car before purchase.
Its a car video. Nothing complex about it
@@googleleavemynamealone9145 Well said and very true.
I agree. Got so used to the instant intro, the preview throws it off for me.
Yeah, I’m already here to watch the video, just get to the video.
I feel more inclined to skip through the trailer intro because it's just stuff I know I'm going to see in the real video, which is the video I'm trying to watch right now
pretty sure its to make their videos longer, which makes them more money on youtube
Different strokes for different folks I guess. I like the new format.
SAME
I agree. Like the old format better.
Yes, please do away with the preview. The videos aren't THAT long...
The intro is nice but I think it's better suited to put on your UA-cam and Instagram story, and leave out of the full video. Just a suggestion, you guys are the experts! Keep up the great work!
No
No, it’s made so the viewer would watch the video longer, so the guys could sell more advertising
@@sergeymeshkov Even without the intro, the video is still more than 10 mins that many seem to dread, so I don't get what does that intro bit have to do with the adverts.
Thanks for the feedback. It's been working well for what we intended, giving people a preview of what to expect in the video to decide whether they want to sit through 16 minutes. No, it's not for making more money since it's only 15-20 extra seconds. Padding videos with forced extra time only hurts performance
@@metromusic5725 Relax. There's no harm in trying things.
This car screams “your Uber/Lyft is arriving”
Nah, not reliable enough
Most accurate comment I've ever read on UA-cam.
Screams "upgrade your rental to medium size for $20 more"
@Diesel TDI people own Nissan's because they are cheap, especially when used... not because of their reliability

Crazy this day and age you can make a comment like "Hyundai and Kia are industry standards for _______ " and its not a joke at all.
Times have changed for the better for all.
I noticed the same and I was surprised, still remember when I was driving crappy rental Hyundai Accent in 2010
With help from ex-Audi and BMW employees, they redesigned a lot of cars in their line up and actually made them competitive.
@@joeljeffrey9139 Yup, head of design from Audi and head of M Division.
They really need to let Albert Biermann engineer a chassis from the ground up for a few sporty models so we can get that true N/GT line going.
The G80 and Stinger GT is just ok if it wasn't for its underpinnings.
The Altimate rental car
Yep that's about right. Plastic, soul-less, cheap feeling, disposable cars. Would take a 2003 Maxima over this junk in a heartbeat.
I just got done driving one of these as a rental while my car was in the shop getting some body work done. One of the most unenjoyable weeks of my life lol.
@@ThePhobophile Yep. Nothing more than tools to get you from A to B. We've got a Rogue on lease because it was cheap and it goes back after 3 years before it starts to fall apart. Had a 1995 Quest back in the day. Tank. Only needed oil changes until I sold it in 2008 with 165k on the clock.
Wife had one as a rental while her car was getting body work. I got to drive it a couple of times, and it was a FWD SL. I liked it quite a bit, though there were nitpicks. For one, I disagree with Jakub that the steering feels normal. It is both light and quick, making it easy to accidentally input too much steering... It felt pretty over-boosted around town, though that improved at highway speed. I also thought the screen between the gauges was a bit crowded, so I didn't really look at it too much. That said, it rode pretty smoothly and was overall very comfy. There was less wind and road noise than I thought there'd be. Not a bad way to get from A to B.

ACTUALLY REGARDING THE COMPASS! I have a 2017 Ford Fiesta and I live in Colorado, and when I am not where I can see the mountains to get my bearings my compass actually comes in handy with getting around! (For me anyhow) And the nice part is it is up in the infotainment corner and (as small as the screen is) doesn't really take anything away. Love the channel guys!
To me, the intro supplies a feel of quality which you guys definitely provide.
The new intro is meh. I would stick to the old way. Also I dont like change so probably dont listen to me.
14:03 WOW What is that sick head movement?? That's a big Jakubdroid glitch if I've ever seen one.
Nice editing lol
I rented this for a long road trip last weekend - loved it. Drove great
I have owned one since they were launched (my first Nissan). Living in Canada and love the confidence of driving in snow with this AWD. Fuel consumption pretty good. My favourite part is the ProPilot. Some reviewers knock it but I drive 80km return everyday with ProPilot engaged for 60km. The cvt makes it lighter on fuel and have fake gears when a good song starts playing- rest of the time you don’t notice it. I bought it for commuting and the Altima excels at it.
Seat comfort is sadly Nissan's only redeeming quality these days.
Probably why people who dont know much about cars buy these so much, they don't know about the cvt just that its the most comfortable car they tested
@@jacobrael9872 good point! Don't forget the discounts and the fact that Nissan will approve anyone and everyone even if it has to be @18% APR.
Depends which Nissan you buy. The Sentra, i would wish that car on no man
Let's not forget Nissan is the second largest Japanese automaker
Seat comfort is actually really important. Most cars have very uncomfortable seats these days. Like the Honda Accord.
I love how you guys go off of their review of the car and don’t drive it your self.. the CVT is not bad, and it doesn’t scream “Uber” as y’all in the comments say it does. it’s a good car, I have a 2019 SR + the premium package, and with paddle shifters and with the 2.5L 188hp and 180lb-ft. They didn’t even get the power right.. how are you guys gonna go off of them😂 And it’s pretty fast for it’s class and it’s power ban..
Sweet hoodie Yuri! Nice review as well. You guys rock!
Tomorrow I’m actually looking forward to purchasing the 2020 SR Platinum AWD, I had the 2019 S model and loved it , great in the snow! I wish I never got rid of it (sold to get out of a payment) great gas mileage and very comfortable ride. I love the look with the 19inch rims and look forward to the platinum trim options. 😊
Blowing my mind when you're talking about looks. THE PASSAT LOOKS BETTER?! I've been thinking the exterior is the Altimas strongest side.
PookDaWook The Altima looks like it has a goatee. I really don’t care for that.
Altima is, hands down, the best looking car in the segment at the moment.
you guys ever thought about doing a quick sound system review?
They could but unless they use royalty free music, they would get sued and copyrighted
@@kanamekuran23 yeah that'd be fine, TheTopher always uses the same 2 songs and it's perfect. i just really like that he does it.

Re: Compass in cars. Kind of, sometimes I'll "lock" my SatNav to having north on top. Sometimes I want to go somewhere without the SatNav route to see if I can stumble onto something interesting. Knowing the cardinal directions helps keep me roughly towards the destination.
Yo, did you guys forget about the Mazda 6? It's the best looking in the segment!
Grats on 1mil subs fellas!
I use my compass on rare occasion usually when I need to find my way to the beach, or to figure out if I'm heading the right direction on a highway (if I'm lost).
I love my 2019 Altima SV AWD. Best bang for the buck. Good handling, great fuel economy, Excellent ride/Quire and very Comfy seats. Great on long trip.
$35k really doesn't get you a whole lot, does it? The entire vehicle just seems... underwhelming
The car isn’t all that sporty, but it has a lot of features. And if you are in America, you can get the more powerful VC-Turbo engine
New intro . . NAH !! Everything else excellent as usual.
I liked the old intro with scenes and music. Boys yall had it
My Vw Tiguan has a compass, here in Argentina where phone signal disappears after a few Kilometers from the city, sometimes when we are in the middle of the field it is quite helpful. But that’s it, only for some rural area or a place we never been before where our GPS can’t find anything! So, hello from Argentina!! Your channel is awesome!!
Not sure about the Altima, but thanks for getting back to reviewing cars that most of us can drive.
me, i use the compass. for me its the best way to understand where i am and where i am going. im the guy who also like to look at my map/navi with north side up.
Same. I use my compass all the time when I'm in a parking lot or shopping center and android GPS just says "head North"
I rented a 2019 Nissan Altima with the cloth seats and drove it from N. Ca. to St. George UTAH, in one day. My son and I found the Altima's front seats to be the most comfortable we had ever sat in/on, for a long trip!
It was cool watching you guys filming today at the Milton velodrome. New subscribers here.

I know this is a weird request, but you guys should review the 2019 Nissan Frontier. It’s really dated but kinda cool to get a retro-ish car brand new. Off-road review maybe??? I’m weirdly tempted to get one to be my daily next to my Stinger 😂
Aj Amini Be careful about Nissans though. They have reliability issues ever since Renault bought a majority stake in Nissan. The CEO that Renault brought in cheapened production and parts which break easily and he fled Japan when found laundering money as well. Even Nissan knows about the reliability issues and wants to separate from Renault. All I am saying is to be careful and if you are alright with spending money fixing it, then go on ahead. 😁

I have a compass in my car and it saved me hundreds of time! It's so easy to find your way in the city but also where cellular data doesn't reach.
I had an 2014 Altima. Seats were also super comfortable and had great fuel economy. One huge problem, the CVT blew out and I had to change the whole transmission. I really enjoyed commuting in the Altima before all the problems though
“I’m Jakub and I’m Yuri”. It wasn’t broke DONT FIX IT.
Please stop with the preview before the episode, instead place it at the end of the last episode... Just a thought
Yahhh like a summary
I used my compass in my moms 15 Rogue while on the way to Daytona this summer when we got lost and didn’t have any cell service. It kept me heading in the right direction and got me back to the highway I needed to be on.
This car is awesome. I love the comfy seats, climate control system, handling and overall looks. I do however do not care for large grills because they will look goofy and dated in just a couple years. In 2017 I rented an Altima for a 250 mile trip to pick up my new 2017 Fiesta SE, and I was very impressed with the handling, comfort, system interface and lack of road noise. Unfortunately however, I kind of wanted to cry as I had to drive the Fiesta back home knowing how good the driving experience could have been were I not such a cheap skate.
I use a compass pretty often including the ones in cars
I feel like you guys fished real hard to make a positive title for this car lol
I like the new intro. It's like reading the back of the book before buying it.
Been subscribed for ages but had a little addiction and been watching every video lately! Love the Audi videos as I love an Audi, any chance you could do a 2019 TTS? I know you have already done the TTRS but I’m hoping to get a TTS soon!
And a CVT
Colin Kao and a cvt
And a cvt
The only problem is the CVT
Other CVT aren't bad, its just Jatco thats the problem. Makes the worlds worse transmission.
Nissan doesn't make anything that interests me anymore. The competition has passed them by
In what? I test drove most of the mid-sized cars and the Altimas and Maximas were amazing. I don't really trust the CVT too much but style, comfort, handling, tech, and performance were definitely on the higher end. My rental, while I was shopping for a new car, was the Camry and I hated it but Toyota is extremely reliable.
@@kalel33 Altima is literally the worst midsize you could get. What is actually worst then a Altima for midsize cars?
@@Swagalious689 I had a Toyota Camry as a rental for 3 weeks while I was looking for a new car and I hated it. I did really like the Altima that I had for a rental the year before, but I don't trust the CVT of the Altima to last.

Had the SV front wheel drive for 2 weeks. Thought it was pretty quick, steering light and responsive. Love that I can see the muscled front fenders while driving it. Reminded me of older late 60s sedans. Real soft cushy ride. Had a feeling of floating which I liked.

100% agree about the seats. I rented one last summer and found them to be some of the most comfortable seats I've ever sat in. The only seats equally as comfortable are Genesis and Lexus.

Toyota is coming out with AWD versions of the Camry and Avalon this spring/summer. I can’t wait for your review. You guys are awesome - your reviews are so much fun.
One thing I really appreciate is you get the market for a specific vehicle. You don’t critique commuter vehicles as if their race cars or performance cars like a family car.
I like Consumer Reports, but during their review of the 2020 Supra, one person talked for about five minutes about how difficult it is to put a car seat in it. That’s not why people would get the Supra. In the same way, people buying the Altima aren’t seeking a sports car.
I wouldn’t get the Altima based on personal preferences, but I get why someone else would. You respect auto makers’ intentions and understand the market.
