    How To Install Headlights & Foglights Jeep Wrangler JK | LX LIGHT DOT Approved
    These are the LX DOT Approved LED Headlights that fit the 97-17' Jeep Wranglers. These lights are incredibly inexpensive and do a fantastic job. I'll leave my review below.
    I’ve got a 2013 Jeep Wrangler and like I’m sure many of you fellow owners are well aware of, the headlights leave much to be desired. I began looking at getting an upgrade and again, like I’m sure many of you know, our options are insanely overpriced. I really liked the look of the JW Speakers but the price is hard to justify. Eventually though, I found these on Amazon, and not only do they look very similar AND they have built in anti flicker modules like the expensive LEDS, they also include the Fogs which seemed too good to be true. However, for the price I figured I’d give them a try. I’m really glad I did.
    The box they arrive in is padded and all parts are well secured. The lights themselves come with a clear peel off plastic the protects the lenses. All things considered, the packaging is pretty impressive considering the low price. Whats really great is that the KIT includes everything you’ll need. The lights have H4 plugs, so the kit comes with adapters to make the headlights truly plug and play. The fog lights come with wiring harnesses as well which again, allow for a truly plug and play installation.
    LED HEADLIGHT INSTALL GUIDE:
    The process is really quite simple. First, there are 6 plugs that hold in the grill that you remove easily with a flat head. Then the grill easily snaps off. Next, disconnect the turn signals on each side that you can easily access from the side under the fender. Finally, there are 4 15 torx screws for each headlight that you need to remove. Now, the ring around the headlight can be removed and put aside. Take the stock light out and disconnect from the jeep. To begin installing, simply plug the LED light into the included H4 adapter and plug that into the Jeep. There are 4 small indentations on the lights that allow you to secure and guid the light into the correct position. Once in, take the silver ring (where the two ends meet facing down) around the light and screw the 4 screws back in.
    LED FOG LIGHT INSTALL GUIDE:
    The fogs are a bit harder, but only because the screws are a bit harder to get to. First, there is a small guard that you remove with two screws. You’ll need a philips head for this. Now that you have access to the fogs, going by feel, use a philips head to remove the 4 screws that hold in the fogs. This is fairly simple, but can take some time. Once loose, simply disinfect the fog light housing. Take your LED Fogs and connect the adapter first. Now, similar to the Headlights, just plug them in and reinstall screws.
    Its really quite simple and doesn’t take more than about an hour or so. Overall, considering the build, packaging, quality and incredible price, these lights are a no brainer. They look great, are DOT certified and come with warranty. What more can you ask for?

    Thanks for making this, just installed these and it was too easy! fog lights ended up being the only hard part but i took off the connection that had the wires sticking out completely and just plugged it in the one that connects to the car and it worked but this whole thing shouldn't take more than 2 hours. But make sure to aim your stocks before taking them off so you do have a reference point to go off when you're re aiming them. Putting the screws on the fogs the way you did it was a pain in the ass but i too didn't feel like taking the bottom part off but i feel like it would be a lot easier that way. The lights themselves are such a good upgrade form the stock ones the out put is soo good.

    Good informative video.
    FYI - for the fog light connection, disconnect the bare wires and connect the adapter.

    Just installed these, thanks for the helpful video! Definitely of note, take the stripped wire pigtail connector off the fog lights, and put the adapter on in its place. You definitely shouldn't be putting raw/exposed wires into the connector, and this kit is all plug and play. Everything should "click" together. Also the LX-Lights folks have taken care of the "extra plastic" from the molding issue they had, and so there's no modifications needed anymore. For the fog lights I also zip tied them to the harness, so the wires aren't bouncing around since they are quite lengthy compared to the stock.
    I did both fogs and headlights in about an hour and half, with my kids running around distracting me. Anyway, thanks again for the video. It made it super easy to do compared to the instructions (and I'm happy I aimed them since they aim high). It was very helpful!

      Crewsinmyjeep check the headlight connector. You might have connected the adapter upside down to the Jeep harness. I almost made that mistake since the clip nub is so small you could easily force it in

      PhelixTheKhat - That’s what I thought when I was trouble shooting the issue but the profile of the end will only go in one way. I took the drivers side light out and started all over to retry - Still no go. Thanks btw

    My brother gave me these fog lights (without the halo). There are just two wires that come off of it. Do I just splice into the existing wiring or is there a connector that I need to get to plug into the harness that's in my Jeep? Thanks.

  • @appstate1996
    @appstate1996 7 років тому +1

    Just installed these headlights. It was a pain to get the new H13/H4 harness connected to the existing plug. My existing plug wire did not extend outside the headlight housing as your did and the plug did not have the green lever at the back of the red locking clip to help open the plug up to receive the new one. I had to use plyers to force the two together enough to make it "click".
    Secondly, the alignment tabs on the passenger side headlight did not quite match the slots on the existing headlight housing. I had read that in the product reviews and so I wrote the Seller about that before purchasing. They assured me they would match up. They lied....
    I had to notch out one of the existing headlight housing slots to make the notch fit correctly. It took so long to install the headlights I didn't have time to work on the fog lights.
    But, they are in and they are very bright! I will definately need to take the Jeep in to have the headlights aimed since I didn't have a wall to use as a reference before removing the stock headlights. These things would definitely blind oncoming traffic.
    Tomorrow the fogs..

    • @w3reviews838
      @w3reviews838  7 років тому +1

      Hey Pete, thats very interesting. I'm not in any way affiliated with the maker of these lights so I can't say why they would lie to you, but glad they ended up working for you! You are right though, these lights will definitely blind on coming traffic if not aimed. All said and done for the price of these lights, I have certainly been happy with them.
      Thanks for watching and hope those fogs worked out for you. They were a bit of a pain to get to for me haha.

      Your video helped me a lot!!
      It was odd stuff that made it so tough.
      The odd stuff is continuing with the fog lights. I had about 1.5 hours in the fogs and got nowhere. I got the stock fog out in 10 minutes but I couldn't remove it because there are two metal braces behind where the fogs are located. One may be the tie rod or something? Im not at all mechanically inclined so I dont know what you call the those parts. I just couldn't get it out. I also couldn't take it out the top because the plastic shield was in the way and there is a aux light hoop over the shield that is bolted to the frame. I couldn't get at the bolts. I don't know how they got the thing on?
      Finally after an hour and a half, I just put the stock fog light back in place. I guess I'll have to take it to a shop to just replace those fog lights...

    • @w3reviews838
      @w3reviews838  7 років тому

      Thats good to hear! Thats strange as I didn't have that much of an issue with them. I'm not sure what model or year you have but that may be the difference I don't know. One thing I do think may be an option for you is to unscrew and take that medal skid plate off right under that front bumper. This should give you access from the bottom rather than from the top and may work out better in your case. Though I'm not entirely sure if those medal braces you mentioned would still be a problem or not without seeing it myself. Sorry I'm not much of a help in this case but hope you can get it resolved! Thanks again.

    thanks alot for this video. these were exactly the lights i was looking to install on my 2016 JK. looks pretty simple. im just worried about installing those fog lights. should i buy a stubby phillips screwdriver? did it make it easier to remove those screws?

    • @w3reviews838
      @w3reviews838  7 років тому

      Hey Aaron, no problem! I'm not entirely sure since I did only use the stubby one but I watched it back and I think you would likely be fine with a normal sized phillips. You may just have to get at the screw on a bit of an angle for the drivers side. But yes, it is definitely going to be easier if you have a shorter screw drive in my opinion. Thanks for watching and hope it works out for you!

    What year model is your jeep? . I have an 09 jk and I was wondering if that model has the same pugs as yours. Was any adjustment needed for the fog lights? Great video!

    • @w3reviews838
      @w3reviews838  7 років тому +1

      Hey Roger, it's a 2013 JK Sport. I can't say for sure if anything changed from 09 to 13 in terms of the plugs as I have no experience with that year, but I do know that others on Amazon claim they had a complete plug and play experience with your model. As for the fogs, I actually didn't do any adjustment at all. I'm sure this is dependant on wether you want to or not, but it has worked fine for me. The headlights did of course take quite a bit of aiming them down. Thanks for watching!

    did you have to shave any of the tabs to make the headlights fit? or did they both fit just right? how's the light output btw? just ordered these myself yesterday and I'm pretty hyped to get them tomorrow :)

    • @w3reviews838
      @w3reviews838  7 років тому

      Yeah I should have maybe added that in the video. The only thing I had to do was take a chisel and thin the tabs that come with the lights down about a millimetre. I wasn't sure if they all come like that, so I figured it wasn't a big deal. Thats the only thing I had to do though. The drivers side went right in, but the passenger side was a pretty tight fit. I just played with it a bit and had no problem. The light output is really good! You definitely want to make sure to aim them down though. With the highs on and driving towards road signs, you light them up really bright. Its like having a spot light haha. Good luck with them! I'm sure you'll really like them.

    • @papihitman6454
      @papihitman6454 7 років тому

      Yeah i got them in 2 days and on a sunday haha. I did have to shave a little on the passenger side too and the fogs were a pain but worth it as well in the end. Lights are 5 times better than stock halogens. Love it and for the price completely worth it.

      The connectors were wired backwards so i had to flip it around away from the clip lock then i had to use electrical tape to make sure they stayed together. I didn't even use the extra wire. They turned out great. Better than paying 1500 for JW Speaker over priced lights.
