pulled my radio out of my Jeep wrangler JK after it cut out and lost all radio. Took the radio and tossed it into the trash and put a Kenwood system in. Problem fixed

I just did this repair tonight on my Wrangler and it totally worked! Thank you so much for this video or I'd have been totally lost. I used a heat gun though.

Best Buy has some great aftermarket head units that out perform that pos and aren't that expensive. Replace it and never have to worry about it again

Life saver, did this in my dodge avenger 2014, heated it up with a blow dryer for 30seconds and and jammed a piece of wood in there so it’d have constant pressure and not only did the Bluetooth and CD stop cutting out every 2 seconds but now my AM/FM radio works (car was like this when I got it). Thanks a million man!! Subscribed.

Did this fix and it worked perfect, used a heat gun instead of a lighter and still worked fine, took the advice of the comment above and propped something in between the chip and the metal arm. perfect fix, thank you very much.

This is not a proper repair to pcb. My suggestion is to bring it tonsomebodybwith a rework station and have the chip properly flowed

Awesome! I helped my daughter buy a used wrangler and we forgot to check the radio! Sure enough it was broken. This fixed it! I used a soldering iron to get a little bit more solder onto a couple of dry spots in the upper left corner and then a butane torch to reflow the solder all around. Thank you especially for the encouragement with taking all the plastics off, including the vent detail. That was the hard part for us. It was all done within an hour!

An important item to be aware of. If you closely observe, the little "latch" to unlock the vent is just right of the "p" in "Jeep". You need to line up the louver hole to be just right of the "p" to find the latch to pull down on. (see video about 2:35, where he is prying on the latch. You will notice that is it just right of the "p".)

Is it me, or is a Chrysler Jeep just not electrically engineered very well. Between having to replace a TIPM(cost:: $800 - $2000) to fix electric locks, or stop wipers from turning on at a whim, or the wiper fluid pump to work again, and now having to rip a radio apart and reglue a part that should have never been glued, Chrysler needs to do something. There are now dozens of UA-cam videos for this one radio issue and dozens of posts to this UA-cam video alone. Chrysler should be ashamed of themselves. They need to get proper electrical engineers, recall their vehicles and fix their crappy electrical design and parts. BTW, if your A/C stops working, guess what! You'll need to replace your TIPM. (Yes, all of the above has happened with my Jeep, and I am unloading it as quickly as possible. You may also need to have your TIPM software updated by Chrysler to get all the electrical components to sync together which will cost you another $800.)

Just made this repair to my 2014 Jeep Wrangler radio this past weekend. Worked perfectly! My AM/FM stopped working a few months ago and then last week, the radio sound would go on and off every few seconds. This repair fixed both issues! Thanks for the video!! Recommend using a heat gun, not an open flame.

Thanks for the video. I tried like what he said and heated and hold pressed. Connected it only worked for 30 secs and returned to the fault again. WHAT WORKED FOR ME: the Black IC which he asked to heat, above that we have a metal plate where the screw sits I measured the distance between it and took a long length bolt and cut oof its head the sanded to corner soft and put it little more than the measurement of length and made it stand stuck between the black IC and the above metal plate tight in way that the Black IC alway gets pressed to the board tight. Re assembled everything with bolt rod stuck pressing the IC and connected. Now it works great and never looses the connection. Works perfect now. If anybody have any question please reply to this comment i will try to help. Thanks for the video for helping me understanding the problem and create the solution for it. All praise to the lord of Jesus, Allah.

Just started happening on my 2017 Wrangler, here in 2024. Ridiculous. I'll be ripping out my radio this weekend and will be trying to fix it. Thanks to you and everyone else who have documented this fix.

I only saw a couple people talking about using glue. Seams to me glueing it down would be the best way to fix it. Disclaimer, I’ve been wrong before.

I tried this today. I couldn't believe it worked. Radio, cd player, and auxiliary port for my phone all work again. My sound was going in and out and then finally quit all together. Working 10:48 great now.

As much as I wanted this to work, my yellow connecting on the motherboard broke off…..and now it’s doing it constantly :(. Thank you though for trying!

So my Jeep just did the same thing over months time till no more sound from the radio. Saw this video, and 2 tries we fixed it. An hours time, or so is a lot better than a few hundred on a new radio . So than you.

I drive a dodge avenger 2013 and I can attest that this video helped me out a lot. I found this video long time ago and I didn’t know when I would have the time to fix my radio. I just want to thank you for saving me from boring car drives.

Thanks man for the video. Worked on my 2015 Jeep Wrangler radio. I ended up doing the tip listed in the comments of putting a piece of plastic from a writing pen on the plate and under the steel lip things. Just sawed off the right length. Again, thanks for the video.

I just had the same issue with my 2013 avenger. You dont even have to heat it up. I just cut a pen almost in half and wedged it in using the bracket lip right above it. Works fine. Used it on the one i got from the scrapyard as well and it works just fine as well.

I just tried this and it worked perfectly! My AM/FM radio stopped working completely and when i would connect to the Auxiliary the music would cut out every few seconds and then stopped working completely with a popping noise. Thank you SO much for this detailed video! You made everything so simple for me!

2015 Wrangler JK. It's amazing that there are individuals on here that know how to make a repair to the radio like this. I will mention that when I used my heat gun to heat the chip in question, I got it pretty darn hot with no ill effects to the Board. I don't recommend using a fireplace lighter w an open flame like I saw somewhere on here If I would have taken my Jeep in to the dealer or car audio, they would have had a field day with me. Thank you for the great tutorial.

Had the same problem with my identical RAM radio. Heated the chip up got it working then quit heated it again got working quit. Heated it a third time got it working and put a drop or 2 of super glue on the chip been working ever since. Caution don't use silicon its got acidic acid in it bad for electronics.

Totally worked for me. For anyone who gets the antitheft code...if you unplug the cd and power on the deck it enables the radio.... then plug the deck in again and the antitheft will have cleared
