Sick Boi is his story, he was misdiagnosed for eight years. He had Lyme disease but they told him he was bipolar and he has suffered pain and psychosis as a result. He went to Canada for treatment, expected a 3 months stay, his doctor just last week confirmed that he will need to stay in Canada for at least 6 months of treatment to try fix the damage to his body.
And now has been diagnosed with Mast Cell Activation Syndrome 😔
Yes , and the parts in sick boi where he seem outraged compared to the docile, is what he explains was what he should have said in these situations.instead he sat back listening to the “professional “ put him on medication for something he didn’t have and he kept trusting them. But wasn’t getting any better and his depression worsened.

I stumbled across #HiRen 2 weeks ago, started looking at his other songs and damn, its a deep hole, you just keep digging up 🔥 tracks! Hi Ren, Sick Boi, Jenny & Screeches tales trilogy, Chalk outlines, Power, What you want, The Hunger, Dominoes, Patience, Its Alright, Lose It, freckled Angels, Street Lights 1990's & Money Game 2. Every single one of them are great and show how talented this kid is. They are so wide ranging to suit any mood! I now know why everyone keeps saying you got to go down the #Ren rabbit hole, cause it is never ending 🔥! 🤣🤣
There's so many of them and they are all so good, though often very different from each other. Not only Ren, but you end up exploring The Big Push and all the other amazing artists that he works with! Once you start adding those in, you realize you are no longer in a rabbit hole, it's a whole damn warren! ❤🔥🤣

Ren was misdiagnosed for nearly half a decade with mental illness. The doctors and psychologists said that all of it was in his head, come to find out that he actually had Lyme disease and it wasn't in his. I love that it shows that they are so quick to push prescription medications for the money and not really care about the patient themselves or not even consider that there is a misdiagnosis or the long-term effects of that mistake. He is a lyrical and musical genius, I can definitely relate to this young man. Especially one who study psychology and has worked and seen firsthand what happens with the mind. I am so glad you guys reacted to him and you are sharing this with everyone. I believe there are a lot of us out there that can relate to him and his message. It's always wonderful watching you guys react, I really got on the train with an NF as well. 🖤
For me with my personal struggle with mental health "the sit there with a smile on your face" is the difference in the way doctors talk to you about your mental health illness compared to how they would talk to a patient with a fatal physical illness and let's be honest a lot of mental illness cases are fatal.
I've had a lot of input lately with different nurses and psychiatrists and when I've tried to be open they interject with their bad days or how everyone has bad days, when they are meant to know it's no way near the same. I have BPD and my brain is not wired the same, same as a lung with cancer would not operate the same as a healthy lung and this is the problem we still face, we are treated like we've chosen this and we really haven't at all.
We need more people talking about real stuff in their music. There is so much vacuous content out there. We need music with a message and a meaning again.
Definitely check out Chalk Outlines by Ren. And of course the trilogy of Jenny Scratch and Volet that everyone is suggesting is also fire.

As always, a great reaction. Ren is so much more than a "Rapper." He plays multiple instruments, has impressive vocals, performs a number of genres, is an excellent storyteller, and quite the philosopher and poet. His performances with Sam Tompkins (“Blind Eyed,” “Earned it /Mans World / Falling,” “Walking on the Moon), Eden Nash (“Humble,” “Ocean”), Bibi (“Crutch,” “Ahiahiaoha”), Molly McKinna (“Penitence”), his former bandmate, Romain Axisa (“French Song”) are all great. Ren's performances as a member of the band "The Big Push" (which unfortunately broke up) are awesome and well worth checking out, both the busking (street performances) and their live recordings. Ren's covers of "I Shot the Sheriff," "Wade in the Water," "An Englishman in New York," the songs "Oh My Woman," “Swan Song,” and so many others are equally impressive and really give you a sample of his vocal ability.
Ren’s collaborations with Chinchilla (“Chalk Outlines,” “How to Be Me”) are beautiful and showcase his singing voice while addressing mental health. Ren's personal reflections on his struggles are threaded through many of his other songs as well; "Insomnia," "Depression," “Diazepam," “Penitence,” “Dear God,” “Heretic,” “Dominos,” his "Freckled Angels" album, just to name a few, all deserve a listen. His song "Money Game" (Part I & II) is another recommendation, although it is less of a personal song than it is an indictment of greed and the resulting injustices in this world.
Ren's trilogy "The Tale of Jenny/Screech/Violet." is an absolute must. It is spellbinding, haunting and has an unforeseen conclusion; WATCH THEM IN THE STATED ORDER, as this is the flow of the storyline or just watch “The Tale of Jenny & Screech (Full)” from Ren's channel, which includes “Violet’s Tale at the end. The story is a 1-2-3 punch in the gut and is another example of Ren’s genius and a master’s class in storytelling.

The people spreading hate about Ren, which thankfully I haven’t seen much of, are a perfect example of his statement that the “more intensely the light shines, the darker the shadow it casts”. Their shadow shouldn’t touch him. He’s walking fully into his light, having excepted his shadow. The rest is gravy. We got your back, Ren.

He's saying humanity itself is sick and we are also the virus. We commodify and monetize everything, our personalities, our gifts, our passions, our love, our emotions, everything to make a buck in the name of progress. And the same goes societally, the rainforests, the air, the oceans, the climate. And we call it progress. And we have no choice but to participate, knowing what it does to us. It's killing us on the inside. But so many psychiatrists just push drugs because what else can they even do? Fix a broken system? No, so take a pill and pretend it's just your brain chemistry or some childhood trauma so you can GET BACK TO WORK.
(This is not to say that mental illness wouldn't exist without these factors, but it would be MUCH more manageable.)
...Exactly but if you dare question it (the state of the world), you're crazy' and you literally feel crazy...And when you trust the Dr. with your strange thoughts, you're prescribed an antidote.

Some people find satisfaction in pointing out the flaws of others. I think that her smiling while telling him he's sick is her feeling self-validated by her profession, pointing out the flaws in other's. She's sick if she can't recognize her own flaws. No psychiatrist or psychologist is eithout their own flaws. By recognizing our own flaws there is no smile whilst speaking upon the flaws of others. It's more a frown, due to mutual suffering by being flawed.
I tend to overthink a lot as well, ma'm. Please excuse me if that is too prevalent in my commentary.
