18:30 THE GRANT IMAHARA CAMEO IS JUST PERFECT
OH MY!
Monty Leverett GRANT IMAHARA DIDN'T SAY THAT, BUT CLOSE ENOUGH!
too bad they didnt get Jim Parsons for that part
I thought he was going to start running in the other direction
For those of you, like me, who come here for the funny geeky things: The Star Trek Shimmy is at 21:28, and the meltdown/ Khan scream starts at 18:12.
Bonus joy at 25:18
Well those WERE the best bits :P
The Star Trek Shimmy and Hit were THE BEST. SO FUNNY.
Wil doesn't look old enough to have a son Ryan's age...Christ, I thought they were brothers!
+AquaThunderKnight17
I thought that was his brother until I read your comment. I was like
That might be because biologically speaking, he's not actually his son.
Both Ryan and Nolan are Anne's sons from a previous relationship. The only difference is that Ryan has been legally adopted, whereas Nolan has not.
MajorLeagueGamer838 Is that a fact or just supposition?
AquaThunderKnight17 Fact.
MajorLeagueGamer838 Well that makes a ton of sense...thank you for pointing that out
3:32 Wil's hands...
Well played, Mr. Wheaton. Well played.
"Regardless of what ship you served on." You know what, I like that phrasing better. Can you imagine? "I am an actor, and I served aboard the Starship Defiant."
TOS Defiant or DS9 Defiant? Because the first pretty much makes you an extra. The second makes you Michael Dorn.
Grant just walking by and being like "what the f***?" is the best thing ever.
;(
i loved the look on ryans face when his dad asked if someone wants to trade something for water xD because he looked like these moments in animes when a character did something wrong and then looking away whistleing like they want to say "i dont know what you are talking about" xD
Kari mentions Star Wars in a Star Trek game and there's no rage in the top section of the comments?
I am on UA-cam right?
Is this real life?
+KingWok AOE Clearly you're in one of the few nice areas of UA-cam.
+KingWok AOE yeah that bizarre trend of trek fans and wars fans hating on each other just because they're possessive of the word "star" or something is fading out pretty rapidly. there's a whole lot of overlap between trek fans and wars fans.
That is because JJ brought balance to the Force, and ended the Trek Wars
I Know. LOL Well, she is a sweethart so we let it slide.
So true
"Dad, can I play board games with Seven of Nine?"
"Feck yeah, you can!"
"Best. Dad. Ever!!!"
jery has the rare superpower of getting fucking HOTTER as older she gets xD damn how can i concentrate on that game with her on the table xD
Tell me about it. 10/10, would hit it.
True...shame she's married lol
Her phazer is always set on stunning.
Daren Redman
Because if she was single you'd have a chance, right? ;)
No, no, she looks old
I'll be honest: Star Trek Catan looks about as interesting as the original, but this episode was worth it for Wil's epic "KHAAAAAAAN!" and the Star Trek Spaceship Bump.
That's about right. I'd rather play so many other board games than this, but if I had to get stuck playing a Catan game, I'd prefer this over the original. The retheme is a cheap effort, but works for me. And the character cards breathes more life into the game.
I rewatch this episode every now and then, just for Wil's epic "KHAAAAAAAN!" and the Star Trek Spaceship Bump. :)
LOL. Wesley and Seven doing the space ship bump together was the best thing ever in the history of the Internet.
Someone should use Wil's DNA for anti-aging gene therapy research.
I know, right? He does NOT look 40-something. xD
The only downside is that you'd look like Wil Wheaton for the REST OF YOUR LIIIIFE.
***** Im okay with that..
@@adamdobbs5345 ok.
It's probably from being in such close proximity with Sir Patrick Stewart for so many years, that a bit of the magic rubbed off on him.
I'm convinced it took them this long to make Star Trek Picard because it took this long for the man to actually continue aging.
18:54 even when he's a friggin game card, Captain Kirk gets the girl.
god dammit
I kinda thought Jeri was on of those 'I want to forget i was ever on Star Trek' people since you don't really hear about her, but after seeing this episode, i honestly hope they invite her again at some point, like if they ever do another game with officers from the series, like maybe: George Takei (Sulu), Jeri Ryan, and Marina Sirtis (Counselor Troy)?
Writing to you from 7 years in the future and Jeri does show back up with a key role on a new show called "Picard" so you were right!
Well, this comment aged well. ST:Picard called!
Ryan is a cool guy, I played League with him a few times. Haven't seen him on in quite a while. I said something in a game like "nice name, I love Wil Wheaton!" and he goes "That's my dad" - took a bit of talking, but he ultimately verified who he was.
That's super interesting! (Not being sarcastic)
I love the random Grant appearance. Rofl!
I thought it was kind of funny how Ryan Wheaton made Wil sound kind of like a Star Trek-ish version of Grandpa Simpson.
OH!! Jeri and Wil both been on star trek AND leverage that is awesome and epic XD i love it
HarbingerofFire But you almost can't recognise Will in TNG :p!
Wesley Crusher--son of Beverly Crusher--and 7 of 9, formerly known as Annika Hanson respectively; sorry if I misspelled her name
This series has raised my opinion of Wil Wheaton since he usually plays a jerk that everybody hates on television shows. I'm happy it exists and have bought two games thus far after seeing them played(Gloom and Pandemic). Great show! I would like to place a vote for the Pathfinder card game to be played! Keep up the good work (and bonus points for doing something with family members, too!)
Ryan is constantly looking at his farther disappointed as shit and in total admiration. Reminds me of how I look at my father!
Lovely relationship
And that moment where Grant was walking and he was all like: "Is that Wil's cry of despair I hear?"
I loved this one. I especially liked the sort of 'Star Trek alumni moments' where Wil Wheaton and Jeri Ryan have a little fun with the cliches of the various Star Trek shows.
Yeah that was funny.
Grant Imahara was the star of this episode
Totally
lmfao, "I PHANTOM MENACE HATE THAT" I gotta use that.
man, watching that ship bump at 21:30 was so good. I searched for other videos with other actors doing it off set and such. maybe have Shatner and Stewart in an interview together doing this impromptu would be awesome!
didn't find it ... yet. I wish it happens ...
+John Dilig Yep, that whole conversation segment between Jeri and Wil was pure gold.
I love how "Kari is a witch" counts as a "scientific explanation". Science just keeps getting better and better!
Bring back your son Ryan, guy was a great guest.
bring back Grant too! The fact he showed up to film that short 5 seconds is amazing!
Swordfish
Meh, grant is about as interesting as brick.
LOL The cameo from Grant!
Its so awesome that you got Jeri Ryan on this event.
That was so much fun to watch. It was seriously like getting to hang out with Jeri Ryan and Wil Wheaton, and that's amazing.
We boxed a friend in in one game of regular Catan. He wound up having an ore monopoly and won the game by refusing to trade. The strategy can backfire.
Idk what you've been eating Mr. Wheaton, but for the love of god your son looks not much younger than you!
***** 40s
+will I believe his son is adoptive.
+will Easy kids: Avoid the likker and drugs and stay indoors still the sun goes down.
Easy.
+will He just hasnt seen sunlight in 20 years
+will It seems that he had his children at around 25yo, pretty normal age.
Wil's subtle revenge: Spell the winner's name wrong on her certificate.
One of the best shows i've ever watched on youtube. This made me all sorts of happy. Thank you Will and Felicia
I really love Table Top and thank goodness that there is finally a well edited show to demo games and quickly explains how to play games. I have a bunch of TT-inspired games, I see being loved with family and friends FOREVER! lol. Thanks an oodle!
Look it's R2D2. I loved him in Star Trek. "Pic of Dalek"
My wife and I bought this game because of this episode, Thank you Will for doing this show.
agreed. My dad is not my "biological progenitor" but I love that man. He raised me, loved me and spent dozens of sleep less hours watching over me when i was sick or working 2 full time jobs to make sure i could go to school and have clothes on my back. That man is my Daddy no matter what :) *thumbs up*
Ryan Wheaton is awesome comedy gold
lol grant imahara cameo
Jeri's still gorgeous. I know everyone always says it, but everyone always says it because it's true.
She's so much prettier when she can wear her hair down and smile, i.e. when she's not Seven-of-Nine.
What I like most about her is her great personality and that she still looks hot WITHOUT any make-up.
Jeri Ryan playing Catan is just the best thing ever. One of my favorite characters on voyager playing one of my favorite board games, who needs Ice Cream! lol.
Ryan with some of his burns = awesome good natured ribbing. :)
Anyone else find it hilarious that Wil keeps saying "wessle" like Chekov?
Wait a fucking minute. How is that giant ass kid Will Wheaton's son !?
Paulo Brasil Stepson turned adopted son.
After reading about it on your blog...what I just looked for it...your website is totally different! Anyways...and you may have talked about your son Ryan. How he came to you, Wil, and asked you to adopt him. And of course had the kind of fun seen here. I was totally getting the goosebumps. Of. WOW~ This is the son he was writing or talking about. It felt like when I see actors (I would add actresses, but I know some don't like that name so I'll just put this explanation) on your show^^*
Great cameo of Grant Imahara outside hearing Wil scream ;-)
Star Trek bump = the awesomest thing ever.
Was that Grant Imahara at the Kahn moment??? ^_^
Yep
Hang on a second. On that last hand when Kari rolled a 7 Ryan had the Kirk card, so Kari couldn't have been immune to the Klingons and she clearly had more than 7 cards. Why didn't she have to discard?
They forgot that rule in the original catan play through as well.
@@allis5870 but they remembered it in this playthrough, for the most part (though I'd guess it's likely Wil just ignores the rule in his home games and only tried to include it this time thank to people calling that out the last time. Well, it would make sense at least otherwise I just don't know why they'd keep forgetting....)
Whoever was the camera man for that one completely dropped the ball on the Star Trek Shimmy.
I actually raised my arms in triumph when Jerry and Wil did the attack acting because it was so awesome.
Anyone else love the fact that Kari spelled out her last name and Wil still managed to misspell it on the inglorious certificate thingy? =D
I shall leave you, Wil, as you left me. Marooned for all eternity at the center of a defunct TV series. Buried alive, buried alive...**goes to **18:26** of the video**
Hehehee :D
No, just no.
I like to think that the reason Grant shows up and hears his screams is because Wil's screams were so powerful that they broke through the space/time barrier and traveled back to just before Episode 1 was shot, when Grant was walking towards the studio.
So the last hand she rolled a 7, definitely had more than 7 cards and didn't get rid of some why?! Did they all just forget about that rule?! I'm confused o.o
Yep she cheated the win
Tbf, I'm not sure it would have mattered. You get to pick which cards you discard anyway.
Did she still have the captain Kirk card?
@@siriuslysam2285 No , Ryan had it on the last turn.
@@tomlz8802 Ah ok I didn't catch that. Thanks. Also, which Ryan? 😂
the son looks older than his dad lol
Even without referencing Chekov, Wil kept pronouncing it "Klingon wessel". It took me a moment to realize that I wasn't hearing it wrong!
Proof that the force is universal!!!! The only Star Wars fan trumped the trekkies in their own game
FYI, love both fandoms but I first watched Star Wars when I was 4, so it has a very special place in my heart
The character cards should've been TNG. And if Will didn't get Wesley I would be so mad.
Kari told Wil how to spell her name and he still missed out the 'r' in her surname!
Anyone else think it's funny that a Star Wars Alumni beat two from Star Trek?
Kudos for Wil Wheaton for not misquoting "Beam Up!" And of course.
Oh, and yes, No one has ever said "Beam me up, Scotty".
03:33 nice touch Wil, with the Vulcan hand sign
The best part of this episode is Grant Imahara's cameo. May he rest in peace!
Watching them talk about being on star trek was honestly wonderful
she rolled a 7 that last turn and didn't discard, and she definitely had more than 7
I just watched this and was thinking the exact same thing.
Right, like that could have easily changed the outcome of the game
+Dakota Hilliker It certainly would have stopped her from winning in that round...
Yeah
She probably still had the Kirk card that makes her immune to the discard.
At first I thought Kari was the voice of my Jedi Sage from SWTOR. Turns out she's the voice of the other female Jedi, not mine. Still, pretty cool.
Yeah, I had to look her up - she's the Jedi Knight voice. I didn't actually connect her bubbliness with my staid little Jedi at first.
These shows are very peaceful to watch good relaxing shows.
29:33 look @ background.
Best. Painting. Ever.
Who else clicked on this just to perv out on Jeri Ryan?
Prowly-b Is she the one that looks like Gollum?
zing!
Prowly-b I clicked on this to perv out on Ryan Wheaton lol
22:35 it sounded like he said 'I feel a little threatened by Jarius." And that's my real name so I was like 'Wait what? What!? WHAT-oh he said Jeri, yes."
Dante Reece Haha you almost transcended to the next level of reality if the people in the video actually started talking to you!
This Star Trek version looks cool, but I play Catan Universe online and post gameplay on my channel. Lots of Catan challenges have been thought up by myself and successfully pulled off!
This was a great episode! When Jeri told Wil to shut up, I laughed and thought about the classic "Shut Up Wesley!" line. This was a fun episode! Keep up the good work!
Seven of Nine!!!!!!!!!!!!
Whaaat?!?! Wil utterly failed with parenting Ryan and training up his wife; Ryan and Anne did not watch Star Trek? Whaaat?!?! WIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIL!!!
Possibly the best episode of the season
So LOVE this show!! Keep them coming!
The Jedi won Star Trek....I can live with that XD
***** I fixed it. Sorry, I watched this video just before bed.
Did Kari remember to discard half that giant hand of hers after rolling a 7? I thought Ryan had Kirk.
At 28:10 you can see that she only has 5 cards (same round she rolls the 7). Afterwards, an undisclosed number of rounds pass, which happens regularly on TableTop, to time 28:29 where Kari plays the winning combinations with her bagillion cards. I am sure that post productions was going for dramatic scenes and entertainment knowing some viewers are skilled at scrutinizing details. Hope this helps.
CrimsonRhalllic When time passes on Tabletop, they always do a fastforward overhead with music. Im guessing she had her resources stacked in her hand when it looked like 5. Theres really nothing to indicate that this is a later turn.
Jeri keeps saying she got hosed...... Now there's a lovely image.
It is evocative, to be sure.
Thanks for the subtitles!
That was beautiful, this is one of my all-time favourite episodes of Tabletop. So many favourite bits. :D
Did Will have a kid when he was like ten or something he does not look old enough to have a son that old
Besides the fact that Wil is in his 40s? lol
Daniel Yamagishi He just has one of those baby fat faces that makes you look super young, don't judge! (it's his stepson I'm pretty sure, or is that the other one?)
im not judging will he looks great, I thought he'd be in his thirties
Nolan and Ryan are both his stepsons, but Ryan asked Wil to adopt him when Ryan was 19.
NaomiJameston nolan and ryan no fucking way. was her ex husband ricky bobby?
Find it weird how Ryan refers to his dad by his first name.
It happens. I've always called my dad by his first name, and I get along terifically with him; he's my best mate. That said, I also call my uncles and aunts by their first names, instead of 'Uncle X' or 'Auntie Y'.
Eòghann Lamond Yeah, it'll be an everyday thing to some people, and weird to others. Just like the age-old soda and pop debate.
***** This person probably thought Ryan was Wil's biological son, as did I.
He was adopted? Ah. That explains it. XD
Rayan and his brother are from his mom's previews relationship
26:33 Does Ryan call his Dad by his first name? Kinda weird, I call my dad "Dad"
I've called both my biological parents by their first names my entire life.
Wil is his stepdad. I call my stepfather by his name, and my father "Dad."
Apparently Ryan asked Wil to legally adopt him, hence the surname Wheaton, but they aren't biologically related. It's irrelevant to their relationship, obviously - stepparents can be closer than bioparents - but there ya go.
Maybe they told him to do that but yeah I found it odd too.
Cara Elizabeth ah ok that makes sense. i had the same question.
I call my dad Ronnie.
because wil is a child at heart and it shows.
Checkov! The most under loved character ever!
My pride and joy; my autographed picture from Walter Koning from when he visited my crappy little city!
wait.....SON?!!?
Right!? Wil must have some magic ass portrait somewhere because it looks like they're the same damn age.
hippiescum adopted from his wife's previous marriage
His son is pretty hot!!
I know right! Like damn boy
+CreativeUsernameEh My first thought as well, hot damn!
That "Startrek Spaceship Bump" was the best thing I've ever seen
Thank you. While not a huge Star Trek fan, I have seen most of Voy and quite a few TNG. I used to catch TNG back when G4/TechTV ran reruns back to back.
during the show he said he's been playing Settlers with Ryan since he was 8.. so that's a long time to bond and speaks to the age difference. But yeah, Whhil Whheaton is still young.
one of my favourite tabletop's
George Takei, Wil Wheaton, Aron Eisenberg, and Robert Beltran. All played helmsmen for a ship in Star Trek series.
Can't believe that you have such famous people on your show! Love to see them play these tabletop games! Wow! Like, wow!!!
I had no idea Wil was wesley crusher... That is just the most amazing thing I have learned all year.
Go look at the credits for the movie Stand By Me and watch as your mind explodes into a million pieces. KABOOM!
22:18 Wil as an old gran'pa: "When I was your age and serving aboard the Enterprise..." Grandkids: "It wasn't real grandpa, it was a tv show."
Happy 20th Anniversary ST: Voyager
"I feel a little threatened by Jeri, yes. Can somebody walk me to my car?"
like how Grant Imahara, is just strolling by! hahaha
Starting at 20:52 through the next minute or so is the best part
