The Valve Reactor circuit adds real tube tone and the revolutionary chassis design to maximise projection and a hybrid digital/analogue power amp that offers even further control over every aspect of the sound.
All the clever bells and whistles in the world don't count for much if you can't get control, thankfully the new VTX amps aren't short on front panel controls, while the Tone Reactor software lets you delve right in and tweak every single parameter, using either a mobile device like the iPad or a computer via USB. Being Vox they excel at clean chimes and throaty distortion but the amp models go all the way up to 11, with many being based on the very latest high gain heads too.

Can’t believe how much you have grown as an on screen personality.
I'm sad he doesn't have any current valvetronix demos
I agree though, he became the Jack Sparrow of gear demos lol
Also how much his arms have
Those facial expression, man! I feel like I'm watching Jim Carey test out an amplifier.
its as if colin farrell, capt jack and russell b. got together and had a baby. still the most brilliant formative reviews online. good on ya.
that's scary
Loved the Rammstein part at 4:30
I have it, and I love it. The "Tone Room" makes it all very easy to change sounds.
How good is the metal tone? I have a Fender Mustang I V2 and the metal tone sucks ass.
@@nu-agegamer3548 pretty good, it's lightyears better than the mustang that's for sure
@@rayota260 I already bought a Vox Pathfinder 10. I played one in a Guitar Center, and the metal tone is pretty good. Turn on the OD, crank the gain, and then crank the bass and that is the metal tone.
@@nu-agegamer3548 nice, i'm a fan of vox amps ever since i picked up a used vt80+
Was buying this amp anyway but you my mate have sold it to me even more thank you 👊🏻🤘🏻
What are thoughts of it 3yrs on now?
Damn I didn’t know Steve Harrington was this badass
I just found a killer deal on one of these on eBay. If I don't like it I am going to fly to England, go straight to your shop and play 'Stairway To Heaven' endlessly and drive away all your customers. Ha-ha!
Rock on man
A man with a plan
dang psychopath
Follow-up: The VT20X performed so well that I gave it away.
AND BOUGHT THE VT40X. 😃
This is truly an incredible modeling amp. (The Fender Deluxe Reverb model is superb.)
To anyone considering this amp I would recommend spending the extra $ or £ or € and getting the 40w model.
The 10" speaker in the 40 really makes a difference.
@@lespauldisciple3349 I'm going to be getting a VT 40X soon. They sound and look so nice!
God this amp sounds so good, I was thinking of getting it, but now I'm for sure going to.
It is even inexpensive
my name would you recommend this for a budget player?
i have owned one for 3 yrs and its an incredible amp with many features and excellent sound!!!!!
@Toxic's They also have online studio with more features to tweak even more..it has 1 power knob and 1 power level so u get that loud sound at low levels...and Yes to your ??? lol
@Toxic's sorry mate, the brit 800 sounds very close JCM without the Hissssss of hi gain
hi i have a question, i have this amp but when i put the double rec distortion the notes fade away really fast, and i can’t make any feedback with my guitar
do you have a solution?
@@leonardo9223 Double Rec???...and if u plug it into computer for ground it will take hiss away
Great amp, terrific enthusiasm!
Cheers Lare!
Love the Older ADVT VOX Models
Fantastic demo!
3:45 nice MrBrownstone !
kicks ass
thank you I could not figure out the switches , I got freaked out thinking I hope I don't blow it up with all it's switches an had no ideal what was what , thank you again
im learning guitar and i decided to change my crappy used small frontman for the vt 100x monster. It sounds great. PS you are not using the preset amps, you are playing in manual mode.
That wall of telecaster's at the background is turning me on
You was just a young mate back in this video a little shy then, you definitely aren’t now that’s awesome stay cool man awesome video. 🎸🤘🏻🤘🏻🤘🏻
You're too sweet🥰. Thanks for the video. I've just bought this amp today.
Dagan look so different here than the newer videos I didn't even know it was him 💀
I just ordered the 40w. I was stuck between this and katana. I'll try the vox first 😁
@@variklane7032 still have it. It's a fun little amp. Good tone
I have this amp and it’s awesome! Just got the foot switch for it today
Is it good for Heavy Metal? I have the Fender Mustang I V2, the metal tone is garbage
@@nu-agegamer3548 yes! Sorry I just saw this message. I personally love the recto simulator, there is also a soldano slo100 mode on there that is sick. I really can’t believe the amp is as cheap as it is
I'm here from the future (2020) - I thought you looked like a member of "Bush" in this one. Nice preview, answered many questions I have here in the future. I will thank you on a newer vid. Cheers.
Nice job , best wishes from western NY( a place with so much wilderness close, it's surprising and not well known)
That guitar is mint 👌👌👌👌
i had to slow down my video to make sure it wasn't fast forwarded
Appealing chappie!
Finally answered my question I’ve had since starting my amp shopping, this can metal fairly well. I like the British tones and all of that. But I was concerned as Vox has never been known for metal if it would be good for black sabbath, Metallica, and some heavier stuff like alter bridge and rammstein etc. I don’t play extreme metal. Also would a pedal help the distortion get pushed more to metal also.
Laney are probably better for metal plating dude, after all twas good enough for the mighty Toni iommi. Peace n rock on, from me Birmingham, England, the birth of heavy metal.
@@garnzaonthenet yes good point, I’m much more aware of Laney now after diving more into what Tony used. I stupidly didn’t, but had the chance here in nz to buy a 5watt laney that Tony iommi had signed, it was used as a green room amp for him to warm up when they played here. 😫 but I couldn’t really pull the trigger at the time
Nz, never understood why this or that tube sound gets associated to this or that tube amp brand. This was true in the 1970's, not today. Vox can do anything any other tube amp brand does...Vox is known for 'those' amps but that's doesn't mean they do ONLY that. They can do all that Mesa can do if they want, it's not like they don't understand why Rectifiers sound the way they sound. It is very easy to get an extreme metal tone out of this Vox, just boost the input with a graphic eq by raising the output and lowering the 100hz band as much as you want the distortion to be super tight. And mike this amp and put it into a closet if recording at home .....its cabinet sounds pretty phenomenal, you will get a really good tone even at very low volume (with amp in a closet)
I have one of these.I use the Marshall 59 with a klon from the app...les Paul and it sounds amazing..
does anybody know which guitar this is?
For mine you get lost with that many options. But I’m still considering buying one as a low volume everyday option.
Great video
Can we use effects from the three pedals at the same time?
i mean combine them.....
Is this a good beginner amp or would be better the fender gt40 or fender lt25
he looks so different omg
Great 👍 amp but it’s too bad it doesn’t have a line out connection to plug into a venue’s PA system. That would make it much more gig worthy.
Most people these days mic amps to the PA, honestly. Although it does have a 3.5mm line out, and 3.5mm to 1/4 inch adapters are like $5, so if you really want line out in the form of 1/4, you can have it for $5 more.
I should also add in case you’re unaware, there’s no quality difference between 1/4 and 3.5mm nor will anything be changed by your converter. So it’s literally $5 to add line out
Lol I fucking love this guy. This is the same dude that has grown up to become Russel Brand right?
Great demo. Just bought it and its shocking how good it sounds. Just like this vid. Oddly the pwr supply is not a 3 prong(why??) So, you will need to adjust the noise gate to dismiss the hiss. Mine hissed unless I touched my strings or any metal part of my tele. You can check the manual where it shows how to attach a ground wire to a rear cab screw. Other than that oddity, its a little beast. Had the AV 30 and this sounds loads better. Better than my old v2 mustang 3 too.
Kleetus and Sparky Rokspodcast can u use it for some Metal stuff 2?
love the layout of buttons. also considering code katana and champion 40…any thoughts?
Are the 20W enough for play in a band? I should play from jazz and funky to rock. I have a 25W mesa boogie tube amp (It's a beast) but I want some amp for home and rehearsals, even some little gigs. I've decided for VTX but I don't know if I should buy 20W or 40W model... I need help... Thanks in advance!
The 20W would be insufficient, I´d say - it's really more of a practice amp. The 40W should be enoug though. I´ve got VT100X and is can be LOUD - i only cranc the master volume to half most of the time, and still it can be clearly heard in a punk/hard rock band. So I would not be worried about the volume. 40W will be more than enough for rehearsals, and gigs are mostly miked up to a PA anyway.
@@MichalPfeifer So, if you are going to mic it, then a 20w should be ok, otherwise, why would you mic it?
You play very well
HELLO! LOOKED AT YOUR VIDEO ROLL, THINK THAT YOU CAN HELP ME. RECENTLY Bought VOX VT40X CONNECTED IT TO A COMPUTER. EVERYTHING WORKS, BUT THERE ARE TWO PROBLEMS WHICH I CAN'T SOLVE I CAN NOT ON THE COMPUTER TO SAVE THE CREATED CREATIONS, THEY WILL BE SAVED, BUT OPEN THEM IS NOT RECEIVED. AND ANOTHER PROBLEM. I CAN'T CONNECT VOX VT40X R TO THE COCOS REAPER SOFTWARE AND AT ALL IS IT POSSIBLE OR TO WRITE THROUGH A MICROPHONE AND FOCUSRITE
Whats its power level
It isn't over 9000
VOX needs to bring back the AGA-70 model amp….
heads up on noise gate... may affect attack etc... Marshall Code amps used it in presets which needed to be adjusted or offed. and any idea if the Racing Green is a rare color ? just scooped one for $150 Cdn
You can also hear the difference between custom and SE
can this amp be used with a digital effect by bypassing the amp built in amps and onboard effects?
Hallo , can you give me advice what amp to buy. Price not more than 300dollar. I have a Fender Champion 20 already but want one amp with Roch sound. What I àm thinking is this Vox VT20+. or Vox AC4ctv or AC4Cbl . what you say? Thank you for advice maybe you know even another amp. I love the 60s Rock sound . originally 60s.
Hey man, great video and nice playing!
(First of all, sorry for my bad english) I think i'm going to buy the vt100x because my band's drummer hits very hard haha and i need it for small/medium gigs to... but i'm going crazy... Can this Vt100x hybrid amp give me a similar volume/power than a 30/50w valve amp? Thanks!
Mariano Garcia Definitely! (1 year later lol)
nice video bro,, im using the same amp,, can you teach me whats the best settings for metal?
What does the tap tempo button do? I’m a little confused sorry
Is this solid state? I don’t play tubes or hybrid amps.
Wow, Dagan's so quiet in this one. Not used to it lol.
Is this amplifier good for modern metal?
is that really you dagan????
Is this one is good or vox vx II ? Which one do you prefer?
guys can ı record my demos with that amp without using a sound card
Is this amp better than a Marshall Mg 30 Cfx?
Can it take pedals? Because it doesn’t have an effects loop:(
Any Amp can take pedals, you just need to plug your pedals before you plug your guitar in you Amp
@@maxence_lvl8331 I think what he means is not the possibility. He means if the amp sound good with pedals and how the amp is reacting with sertain pedals. but i think it can becaus e you have many pissibilities for tone shaping.
@@fmartini86 yes indeed
This is the best practice amp to purchase hands down. A family member fucked mine off im working on getting a new one.
At 6:27 what is he is playing? Anyone know?
just a little melody!
I have one of these but it buzzes like hell when using the distortion special effect. The buzzing goes away when I touch the strings or the bridge of the guitar. Anyone else have this problem ?
This is weird. I have this exact same issue issue with a completely different amp. Still don’t know what it is.
Turn the noise gate on
Is it a tube amp. If it is is that a bad thing
A hybrid sort, not a bad thing at all considering the advancement in sound design.
Hi can I plug in a pedal to this for more fx or does it have to be a vox pedal? I own a boss me 70.
You can indeed
I have a question is this a god amp? Anyone own one?
Who do i feel like if i fast forward the vid he will get to the regular age he is now lool
When I move the power or gain or volume while it's in the amp modeling I have to switch it back to the previous a.p model and back to get the sound back. Sounds like its power issue idk. Its brand new.
@Bryan Purvis Damn so this must be an issue with amp or quality control lol. Perhaps I need to find a reset. Or see if there is an update if it can be updated. Also I can use tone room. On Android but I have not tried PC yet. Thanks man. And damn you went for the nicer priced one. I feel bad you have the volume issues. I paid 124.00 new so I'm just dealing with it. If I had the full price at launch it would have gone back. Lol
Ah shit. So reset doesn't help? Damnit.
@Bryan Purvis I see like myself you use probably for home practice. It screaming loud when you touch the amp. I lose power when using volume too. It will drop all the way down. Contacted the manufacturer and was told they are supposed to do that? I don't think he understood.
@Bryan Purvis Hey man thank you. I am ok now that I know I'm not crazy. I was thinking wow. Why did they do this purposely ???? Then read many have this problem. Lol. No worries brother. I use Android but when I do try to hit my PC with it if I cannot I'll damn 😂 sure DM to get your help. Much appreciated man. Big thanks !!!!!
@Bryan Purvis indeed we are.
I agree man. And I think they start their reports with the common scripts first. They said though the presets are made to be a certain level which on tone yes but I doubt volume. Hahah anyway. I just recently started guitar again. Really a drummer and keyboardist I write ambient and etc. But revently got extremely willing and eager to learn leads. It's been the one thing I put off. Now I'm totally loving the journey. I upload and have uploaded a lot of my keyboard songs to save them for later ideas. And the more recent ones are me (Trying) to play leads. But I'll get there one day. Totally love to meet other like minded musicians. Like you said a family and sadly seemingly enough smaller and smaller over the years with all the software stuff. I don't dislike the idea of some modern but the "beat "makers and etc I dont too much associate with. I've met a few locally that want help with music from my keys but I dont really like non organic stuff. Emotional is my thing. Truly love it.
Can someone tell me how this plugs into the wall. Like what cord do u need to plug into the amp into the wall?
A simple wire coat hanger will do.
@@TyroneDamShewlaces i found that plugging a fork in gives a little more bite
Can i use pedal like boss metal zone by this amp in clean mode???
So long as your not boosting. From experience it starts to break up in a digital way if you hit the input too hot. Active pickups are fine, but too high a boost on input doesnt go well, but it has several built in distortion and od pedals built in, better acess thru the app
How do you connect tone room ?????
Reverb button , tone room is on the first row of effects
Why do all the videos of this amp and other amps too always have a mic in front of them?
I guess so they can get a better overall sound of the amp
so they can record it?
Finn Shanks
Yeah, that’s probably it. After all it’s a video and audio recording of a demo of an amp.
Can someone plz help me which one is good Vox av series or Vtx series?
AV is the higher end I believe. Lol
Sounds like an old wooden box.
I hope that's just the quality of your miking.
Sounds great with a several thousand dollar guitar play it was a squire so most people who have that kind of money have that kind of guitar consider that
Might be a stupid question but can I play quiet enough with this amp when needed? By that I mean not disturbing the shit out of people living with me. So basically is it a good bedroom amp :)?
Did you end up getting the Amp?
Take the previous model VT20+ in eBay starts for about 80 bucks and it sounds much better! This one with 8" speaker sounds like a waste ton!
Who does Vox make amps for ?
Does the 20 in vt20x stand for how many volts it has
no its the watt output
Minuto 2:47 que cancion es ??
Para mí suena como Play That Funk Music de Wild Cherry :s
shouldve di out imo
can u use it for some Metal stuff 2?
You totally could! Throw a decent distortion pedal at it like a BOSS Metal Zone or DS-1 for good measure! -Lee
PMTVUK thx for ur quick answer! The 40x speaker and the boss metal zone pedal costs 350 Euro (days exactly my budget)! So u would prefer the boss speaker over the other one?? (Pedal shouldnt cost more than 100 Euro. Thx alot

Jan Wolf either amp would do fine but I feel like this vox has more options. I doubt you'll need an extra pedal. As you can see in the video he also plays some metal riffs and he hasn't even cranked the gain.
Can i play some 70's Hard Rock or should i buy Marshall Code ?
i don't see how you couldn't. I mean it won't sound exactly like the classic marshall high gain but this amp seems really competent with its tones.
@@mojozoso691 Ok thank you for the informations, i will buy both to be honest, i'm really curious about these amps.
Your welcome I'm looking at getting this amp because I love that tube sound it has and hearing all the demos for this amp it sounds a lot better than my fender mustang 1 v2 which I play everything clean to heavy but this vox seems to have better focused cleans and the distortion sounds better with the vox even though my mustang amp can replicate ace frehleys kiss tone pretty good but get kinda dirty and week where this amp seems to keep that fullness like a Marshall does. The only things that made the code unappealing to me was the cleans where good but not awesome and the distortion more sounds like a digital Marshall sound.
@@mojozoso691 I have a question about the Marshall Code, can i play with a pedal (DS1 for example) but with any amp and preamp ?
I don't have the Marshall code but I recall that it has an fx loop for the pedals. Rather than just guitar-pedal-amp. When you use the fx loop it uses that pedal as the pre amp or added effects. But you can use it on top of the pre amps in it already but it might not sound as clear.
I couldn't understand half of what was said. Slow down!
Sean McAleavy how could you possibly not understand what he's saying
I want to buy a new amp, how about this one?
Ok, I will never play like this guy... *throws guitar and old amp in bin*
is it just me or does it sound really 'boxy'?
It's the 8" speaker, on the 100 watt it's a 12" which sounds astronomically better
Yeah, it's an 8 inch speaker in a tiny enclosure, what were you expecting?
I agree. I’m sick of boxy.

i don't know did u record with vt+ or not. but with vt+ u can get the sound of Cry for you (andy timmons) exactly. but with VTX when u turn the gain up from 9 o'clock to right, the sound lose the distortion. i don't know why and i don't know how to fix the problem. anyone here experience this???
Hi, I own this amp and I play with a Schecter Damian 6 with EMG hambuckers but I can't have a clear understandable sound from it I don't understand the reason . could u pls help me?
Octavio Restrepo I hope your tone knob is up all the way
I have one and I’ve found that it’s a piece of crap, it’s muddy as all hell and I can’t for the life of me get it to sound good. If you start to crank up the distortion even a little it’s starts to sound like a wet cardboard box. I should have listened to Glen Fricker and bought a Joyo Zombie. 2/10 would not recommend.
Why do you think joyo is better than vox? I want to buy an amp and im really stuck lol
That's right, I also have it and it lacks treble. And when I turn the treble and the middle more and more the distortion sounds so irritating, poor, digital, and like a broken speaker.
Is the 100 watt model as bad as this one?
hablame en español xfa
Cant understand shit he says lol
Distorsión is a shit .. sound like fuzz or Overdrive
Does this guy know how to talk?
